3G spin/touch/scroll wheel not working

after about 3 times of restoring this iPod, it has yet to fix anything that's wrong with my wheel.
it stopped working yesterday when I tried to update it manually. the other buttons work but this still doesn't allow me to search for artists, playlists, etc.
what should I DO!!?? this thing is far passed it's warranty date, and I really don't feel like buying another iPod/paying to get it repaired. it's just the wheel that doesn't work. HELLLLPPPP !!??!!

Just to understand the sequence: you have this problem when you are in a Firefox tab, click a link, and it opens in a:
* new window
* new tab
* same tab
I'm guessing a new window. Since the title bar area is a bit faded, some other window must have the focus, but which one?? If you press and hold the Alt key and press and release the Tab key, you should get the visual Task Switcher pane. The icon to the left of the current highlighted icon indicates the window that had the focus. If you then click that first icon, is it another Firefox window, or some other app?

  • New Imac 20" mouse scroll wheel not working

I just got my imac about 4 months ago and the scroll wheel stop working properly. It will let me scroll down side to side but not back up. Is this something that apple will replace if i take it back to the apple store or am i stuck with a broken mouse.

It can be replaced under the one-year warranty or the iMac it came with, or three years if you have AppleCare.
However, you should try cleaning it. The little rollers under the ball get clogged with gunk and stop working properly.
You can refer to this Apple article.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1537
The way I clean it is with a damp (not wet) lint-free cloth. Fold it over and put it flat on a table or counter top. Holding the mouse up-side-down, roll the ball quickly in all direction on the cloth. Do this for a minute or two. Usually, this will dislodge the accumulated gunk on the internal rollers, and the mouse scrolling will work again.
You may want to do this periodically, even if it appears to be working fine.

  • Canon SX50HS Scroll Wheel Not working

    Hi all,
My SX50HS is approx. 3months old, and suddenly the scroll wheel stopped working. All the other functions seems to be working quite well. I went to the support center since the camera is still under warranty, and they said that they have to replace all the other circuitry and the lens setup to repair this, since the camera is sealed. Only LCD will not be replaced.
I am trying to talk with the camera shop to get a replacement due to all these circuitry replacement.
Anyone experienced this before? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

No that is not why your having problems like that, if you bumped that dail or somthing along those lines then that would make sense/

  • Lenovo Bluetooth Laser mouse 41u5009 scroll wheel not working in Virtual PC

Firstly this is not a type I have a 41U5009 that is the model number printed on the bottom of the mouse and this mouse came direct from Lenovo with my T61p notebook.  For some reason to get drivers for this mouse you cannot simply type in the model number on the Lenovo site as it does not recognize it as a valid model number.
My issue is that the driver I have or the mouse does not allow the scroll wheel to work under MS virtual pc 2007.  I am running Vista 64 bit on the T61P laptop and the virtual pc I am running xp.  If I plug in other mice such as MS cordless mini mouse or HP standard mouse the wheel from those mice works in the VM.  But the wheel on the Lenovo mouse does not work, this makes me believe it is the Lenovo mouse that is the issue.  I have tried using the Lenovo mouse on another pc ( a clone pc) and have the same issue with the wheel not working.  I should point out that in the parent OS the wheel on the Lenovo mouse works fine.  I should also point out that in the VM every other function of the mouse works fine, it is just the wheel part that does not get recognized.

Sorry, but pressing F7 did not do anything I could see in the mobile browser. I had to check with the desktop browser to see what it was supposed to do, and I don't think this caret browsing function exists in the mobile version.
Also tried installing the latest non-beta mobile FIrefox alongside the beta, without syncing anything, and the nonfunctionality of mouse scrolling is present in that one, too. Am considering giving up on mobile Firefox on at least this device.
Note: in case this information is useful, the mouse scrolling works on the Firefox start page with the thumbnails for most used links, but not on any other pages.

  • X-fi scroll wheels not working (agai

Is there any fix for this issue? I bought the wretched thing partly because of the remote control functionality, and it's simply not up to scratch. The scroll wheels stop working if I install the webupdate drivers, and the only way I could get them to function was to stick with the original drivers off the CD. Now they have just stopped working overnight, for no discernible reason.
    Mods, any info on this?

  • Scroll wheel not working in Community Help App (Windows 7 64bit)

I am using the Community Help App on both a Windows 7 32 bit machine and a Windows 7 64 bit machine.
On the 32 bit machine, the mousewheel scrolls the content pane just fine.
On my 64 bit machine, the mousewheel will not scroll the content pane. I have to use the scroll bar on the right (click and hold to scroll the content).
This appears to the be case for all Adobe Air apps, as this functionality is identical in Adobe Story.
I am using a Microsoft Wireless Mobile 4000 mouse on the Windows 7 machine.
Is anyone else having this problem on 64 bit Windows 7 machines?

I'm frustrated, too, because of the scroll wheel issue with any AIR applications.
Running Windows 7 Home Premium N 32 bit.
Using Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 (wired, not wireless) - current drivers.
Scroll wheel will not work when rolled normally, no matter what sensitivity I set the wheel to.  To get any scrolling action, I have to roll the wheel as fast as I can.  Then, it will scroll, but in horrible chunky bits, which ends up being wildly inaccurate and extremely frustrating.
I've heard of many other people having this issue.  It's only when the program I'm using is an AIR application, which leads me to believe that Adobe did something to make AIR incompatible with a MS mouse & Win 7 OS.  (I have used the same mouse running Vista and scrolled fine in an AIR application.)
Is Adobe going to correct this situation?

  • Left Side of scroll wheel not working! PLEASE HELP!!

the left side of my scroll wheel has completely stopped working!! all of the buttons on the wheel work fine, but when scrolling only the right side scrolls, its extremely frustrating! I'm planning on buying another ipod sometime in the future, but if I cant get my current one fixed, I'm not going to get another one. It wasn't dropped or damaged in anyway, one day the left side just became completely unresponsive.
    PLEASE HELP!

  • Mouse scroll wheel not working correctly.

Just installed Firefox 4 and my mouse scroll wheel is not working correctly. When opening the program, I can scroll as normal for about 5/10 minutes. Then, suddenly, the mouse scroll wheel no longer works. I've since found that it is actually scrolling outside of Firefox. E.g. I had Outlook open and it was scrolling through my Outlook even though Firefox was the open window. I checked this multiple times and it always seems to be the case.
Checked about:config as advised, everything looks correct on the mousewheel settings (i.e everything is set to default). Mouse drivers are up to date. No problems with any other programs. This issue started occurring in Firefox 4 beta. I switched back to 3.6 so I could continue scrolling. Updating to Firefox 4 caused the issue to recur.

It seems a lot of people are having problems with the Mighty Mouse's scroll ball. I actually thought I was done for after just a few weeks of using my first (wired) one. But here I am years later with my wireless variant, beeing perfectly happy with it (in case you don't know, the wireless Mighty Mouse is a much better option due to it's laser based tracking system). In my experience, getting rid of fluff that interferes with the ball is quite easy on both types. Try blowing really hard directly at the trackball (optionally while you press it down with some pointed device) a few times. Rotate it and repeat as needed. Alternatively roll the mouse upside down on the microfiber cloth that probably came with your Mac.

  • IPod Classic Scroll Wheel not working

    Hello-
My scroll wheel sometimes does not work, and sometimes is very jumpy (therefore hard to choose the track I want). Can the wheel be cleaned? Or is there any troubleshooting that can be done?

I bought a new iPod classic today, got it home loaded my music and then sat down to check out the new features. Right off the bat, :"what the **** is wrong with the scroll wheel". after trying to convince myself nothing was wrong i did a search and found out a lot of people are having the same problem. It takes at least a second for it to start responding, its jumpy, sluggish, difficult, all things i've never experienced from an ipod before. This would be my 3rd ipod, 2 died, i've probably used 15-20 others through friends and work, and I'm returning my ipod classic tomorrow, its a bummer, sounds like the 5th gen ones are better.

  • Mouse scroll wheel not working properly in ff5

Since upgrading to FF5 the scroll wheel on my mouse doesn't work properly in Firefox - it's works as normal in everything else, just not in Firefox.
When I try scrolling, the wheel clicks (it clicks when turned) 7 or 8 times before the window in FF will scroll, and even then it only scrolls 2 or 3 lines per click. In all prevous versions of FF it would scroll in the same way as it does in all other programs, ie it would scroll 6 lines per wheel click.
It's clearly an issue with FF5 as it only affects FF5 and is annoying enough to make me start using Internet Explorer, which I haven't done for some years.
    Anyone else having this problem?

Sorry, this is not possible in the current version of Firefox, but we have an open bug report where we are tracking this issue here:

With luck it will be fixed in a future version.

  • Scroll Wheel not working

    Hello All,
I know the above is a common problem but mine runs a bit deeper. A couple of months ago my 60 gb colour ipod started acting randomly, there were times the ff button wouldn't work, times the select button wouldn't work, times the pause button wouldn't work and so on. Thinking I may have spilt something on it i placed it on a lukewarm radiator overnight. This has rendered the scroll wheel useless, it just wont work at all, but all the other functions, ff, play etc, work perfectly. Anyone got any ideas what's going on here? I have restored, etc etc.
Worst come to worst, does anyone have any suggestions for good places here in teh south east of england as to where I can take my ipod to have it opened.
    Many thanks
    Graham Morris

This is obviously a hardware issue, implying that no one here can do anything for you. You should attempt for Apple's help, but I'm not sure you're warranty will cover this. If you don't say anything about putting your iPod on a radiator (what were you thinking?), then they may just replace it. Just send it back. Good luck.

  • Mouse scroll wheel not working on Asus Transformer with Swiftpoint Mouse. Is there a fix?

Asus Transformer with Android 3.1 Honeycomb. Mouse is the Swiftpoint mobile wireless mouse. The scroll wheel doesn't function in the latest firefox mobile browser. Other browsers like the built-in browser and Dolphin browser work.
I've tried going into the firefox config and tried all the mousewheel fixes, but still cant get the wheel to work. Is this a known bug?

Sorry, this is not possible in the current version of Firefox, but we have an open bug report where we are tracking this issue here:

  • Scroll wheel not working in Stickies

I have a Mighty mouse and the scroll wheel does not work in stickies. My old mouse was a MacAlly and the scroll wheel worked in stickies. I have a few stickies that contain a lot of info that I refer to often. I go to the particular stickyand like to scroll up and down to access this info. I can't do that now. What can I do to rectify this situation?

Known, as in, there are a lot of people asking about it and no one seems to have come up with a solution.
    From http://www.google.com/search?q=scrollinginstickies

For the record, I agree with you, it does seem like something that should be easy to fix.

  • Nomad Jukebox 3 Scroll Wheel Not Work

I've had a Nomad Jukebox 3 for about 5 years, but rarely used it. I started using it recently and have discovered the scroll wheel is going bad. It only scrolls correctly in one direction (most of the time). If you scroll in the other direction, the scroll is random and jumps around.
Because the scroll wheel is the primary/only means of navigation, it makes the player very clumbsy to use and almost worthless. Is anyone else having this?issue?with the scroll wheel? If so, is there a fix?

Here's some pasted text from www.nomadness.net that should be helpful to you. Some identities have been shown to give credit to the original posters.
    Scrollwheel Fix - Finally!
Theyisus writes "Since it seems that quite a few people suffer from the absolutely annoying problem of an erratic scrollwheel, which affects some of the Nomad Players - this solution will probably be welcomed by many. I came a across it while browsing through the Creative Newsgroup. I've tried it and it definitely solved the problem... hopefully on a permanent basis."
It involves using a very small amount of a product sold at Radio Shack for about $0 , called Tuner Control - Cleaner & Lubricant (Cat No. 64-435), which comes in the form of a pressurized spray and is reportedly safe on plastics.
The best and safest way I found to apply it, was by opening the Jukebox (you?ll find links on how to do this under the Articles section of this site).
Once the cover was removed, I applied as small an amount as possible to the scrollwheel?s underside ? it is harder than it looks because the contents are under pressure, so I soaked a Q-Tip and squeezed a few (small) drops wherever I found a willing opening.
After that, I rotated the Scrollwheel thoroughly in both directions and also pressed it in a few times.
Subsequently, I applied some Dust-Off, (which is simply a compressed gas duster) in order to remove any excess lubricant - I did this a few times, allowing some drying periods in between.
After half an hour and one last dust-off for good measure... and when I felt confident that everything was dry, I closed the little spoilt beast back up... and, (reminding myself not to be too over-eager to discover the results of the operation), I replaced the batteries, and fired the critter up.
It is now working as well as it ever did? and hopefully for good! Bravo! WARNING! I would advise everyone to remember that opening a player up, and fooling with its innards can be a delicate matter, and can have varying results (some not so pleasant). So be careful, and remember that you (like me) do it at your own risk. It will also void your warranty, if you are still covered. Cheers. "
