3G will not connect to any wi-fi, secured or unsecured

I'm cheap, I know, but I still have an iPhone 3G. Suddenly one day, it decides it will not join any wi-fi network whether it's secured or not. If unsecured, I get "Cannot join network." At home, I have an AT&T 2Wire router that successfully connects my Wii and laptop with its 10-digit WEP key. My iPhone used to be connected to this same router, now it's inactive. As of Saturday, my iPhone has decided that the same old WEP key is now an "incorrect password". What the heck? It used to connect just fine, now not so much. Restoring, reseting network, updating software, rebooting, - all to no avail. If anyone has any answers as to why it would suddenly not connect, please help. AT&T and Apple have both simply said to get a new device, granted, they seem to agree they've never heard of the likes of this before. Is this really the solution? I picked a bad time to get addicted to an app that requires wi-fi!!

Just bought the phone today, hooked up to my personal WiFi, no apparent problems. Later on, I noticed that it had reverted to EDGE. After research, I found all the usual suspects - reboot router & phone, Airplane Mode, manually enter Subnet Mask, etc.. I could consistently connect, but then would get booted off as soon as I tried to do something online. Finally, I updated to 1.0.2. Now, it kicks me out, just as dkelly is experiencing.
How has the Software Update made things worse on this front?

Okay, here is my answer to this problem. At least it fixed my problem and firefox now works fine.
Prior to this problem I was running zonealarm (free firewall) everything worked fine until I removed zonealarm free and installed Comodo free firewall. That is when the trouble started. firefox failed and IE kept working. I tried everything posted here nothing worked for me.
I resorted to "REGEDIT" and removed everything in my registry that regedit would allow that had the name of "zonealarm" on it. Didn't even have to reboot my system, firefox worked first thing. Everything else is fine also.
[note: this is not a slam against Lavasoft's ZoneAlarm firewall. It is just that UNINSTALL programs do not always do a thorough job of removing parts of programs in your systems and registry cleaner programs do not pick them up either.]
USE CARE, "REGEDIT" IS A POWERFUL AND DANGEROUS TOOL TO USE ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NOT A SOMEWHAT ADVANCED USER. USE CARE WITH "REGEDIT!"

you have definitely tried the correct steps, all you would need to do now is a back up & restore to factory settings. If after that the issue remains then you would most likely need a replacement unit.

Hi. I have a MacBook Pro 2008 with the latest version of Leopard, and I have five accounts on this computer. Two of the accounts will not connect to any server in the world. Here's a description of both accounts:
Account 1:
Not an administrator.
Parental Controls is currently off, but it was on during first sightings of this problem, but with no restrictions as to internet usage.
Account 2:
Not an administrator.
Parental Controls is currently on, and the only website allowed is /www.weather.govThe National Weather Service.

Check in settings to be sure restrictions are not turned on.

I have 3 iPads and until recently they all worked flawlessly using a mediocre wifi signal. One of them now will only work with my iPhone hotspot and will not connect to any other wifi network. I have rest it removed the cover and it still does not work. Please advise.

Try this Method:
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings (NO DATA WILL BE DELETED)
Reconfirm it again when the notification pops up and wait for the phone to reboot itself

Make sure the Usb and Phone Connector are fully pushed in.
If that doesnt work try another Usb Port as it may be faulty.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Same problem. I have a 4S. Since I updated to 6.1.1, I can not connect to any WiFi. Restore the network settings, nothing. I restored the entire phone, nothing.
