3G works but no voice or text messages

Hi all,
I have an unlocked iPhone 4 that has been working fine on O2 contract for the last 14 months. Last Friday, the phone lost all bars and I have not been able to make voice calls or send text messages since. The funny thing is that 3G works fine, so it cannot be a signal problem. I have also tested the handset on other networks (Orange and t-mobile) and it works fine.
I have got two replacement sims from O2, but it has been the same result both times. Since this is my own handset O2 is now saying it is a handset problem and there is nothing else they can do for me.
Anyone have any idea what else could I try? Are the only option either to sell my handset or leave O2?

Sorry about the delay inanswering. My wireless router is a LinkSys WRT54G. Here's another clue: I am signing onto iChat through .Mac and I can connect flawlessly with other Macs on AIM. My son, who has an ethernet connection, and is signing on through .Mac and can also connect easily to other Macs on AIM. So, both of us can connect to people on AIM, but neither of us can connect to each other through .Mac.
No, we have not yet tried to connect after one of us switches to AIM.

    My phone began to have issues on Sunday and since then I have not been able to unlock my phone. My power button does not work and when I press my home button nothing comes up.     Have you tried holding down both the home and power button until it turns off.  Then when it turns off, simply press the power button to power back on.

  • Is there a way to have voice to text message via bluetooth?

    So basically I am wondering the following......
    I am not sure if this is possible at the present time, but I ride my bike quite often and am on the road quite a bit. Therefore, it is not reasonable for me to have my phone out, and even if I had a mount, I always have to be aware of the road.
    Is there an app that would allow me to talk through bluetooth and have it converted into text in a text message and sent to the person I want?
    And addittionally the same app would allow me to open an incoming text message with voice control through bluetooth or something and have it read to me, at which point I would be able to reply with the above mentioned method.
    Is there anyway currently to do this with an app for iphone4 and later?

    The parental control function does not apply to Messages so you can't lock that one down.

    A friend and I text almost all the time. He used to receive all of my messages and one day, he text me, I responded and he didn't receive it. He still doesn't receive my texts but can receive other texts from everyone else. He sees me texts when he is on his computer through google voice but doesn't see my messages on his phone. How can we fix this issue?

    Did he previously have an iPhone and now uses another type of phone?

  • Pantech Crux not receiving text message but able to send text messages

    My daughter has a Pantech Crux phone. and yesterday we noticed that she was not gettng any text messages. We tried the *228 update and turned phone off, while phone was on we took out battery then put it back in and powered on the phone and she was still unable to receive any text messages so we shut down her phone then took the battery out waited a minute and then powered it back on and she is still not able to receive text messages. she can send text messages & she can call out and receive phone calls but she can still not receive any text messages!! any suggestions we can do to get this fixed?? she is not eligable for a upgrade until April 2013 she will have had this phone a year in about 10 days. will they replace her phone under warranty where it has not been a year but almost by a week or two. We also did purchase the Insurance for the phone as well.
    Any help from anyone to help me on what I can do to get this fixed.

    I am having the same issue with my daughters phones.  I believe its an issue with Pantech.  My daughter has a Pantech Crux and is able to make calls, receive calls, and send text messages but she is not able to receive any messages.  My other daughter has a Pantech Hotshot and is having the exact same issue. We contacted Verizon and went through all of the troubleshooting necessary and even reset the phone and it still didn't work.  Verizon sent out a replacement phone today (Crux) and the issue is still not resolved.  This tells me it's an issue with Pantech... maybe a software update was done?? Both of my daughters are teenagers and mainly communicate through text messaging, so I am sure anyone can understand that they are in crisis LOL.  Any suggestions on what to do next?

  • Iphone 5 receives text messages but will not send text messages

    Since yesterday my boyfriends iphone 5 will not send text messages. He can receive them but when he goes to reply it doesnt work. He has turned his phone off and on and that seems to work for awhile but then the same problem happens again where he cannot send a text message. Was wondering if there was any way in fixing this or why his phone is all of a sudden doing this.

    So I should update this. The phone actually loses service, I have reset the network connection as well as I have updated the carrier settings and the phone is still losing service randomly. I called the carrier and they told me there is nothhing they can do unless we bring the phone in, they believe it could be the sim card because everything on their end looks to be fine. So I'll be going to the carrier store this evening to see if they can fix the problem if not then I will be going to the apple store. Do hope this problem gets fixed soon.

    SMS text messages are handled by your cellular carrier.
    Check with them.

    i just bought a USA skype number yesterday , but i cant hear the voice if some one calls me from cell phone or landline  , nor the person can hear my voice on his cell phone , but skype ID to a skype ID is working fine as it used to before , i can recieve calls but no voice and also in 15 to 20 seconds line get disconnect..

    You can try the following on your friends phone:
    1.  Remove the contact card
    2. Then turn off iMessage and then back on again
    3. Go to Messages and compose a new message
    4. Press +.  This will make a list of recent contacts pop up.
    5. Click on the info button number of the contact you are trying to reach.
    6. Remove from Recents
    7. Try to compose another message
    8.  If the message attempts to send as blue (imessage), press on the message.
    9 Option to send as SMS will appear (as long as they have SMS turned on.
    10. Repeat and rinse.
    11. Messages will start changing over to all SMS as the user will show as non-imessage user.

  • Full service but won't send text message

    My iPhone has been doing this for about a week. I'll have full bars and I try to send a text and it will going about 3/4 of the way and sometimes send but most of the time it'll say message send failure or whatever and I always restart my phone but it still does it. Anybody know what's going on?

    First thing to do is make sure your SIM card is sitting in the tray securely. You can use a straightened small paperclip to pop the tray out. If that doesn't help, bring the phone to AT&T and let them know you're having troubles and ask for a replacement SIM to see if that gives you any improvements. If a replacement SIM doesn't work, head to an Apple store and have a Genius take a look.

  • Dictation works, but where is the text?

    Hi.
    Everything seams to work like Apples setup instructions say. The microphone color and movement when I talk is there but when done and after I click stop dictation nothing happens: No text while talking or after done. I activated Enhanced Dictation, it dowmloaded extra software and dictation worked
    right after that once. Returning to do more: nothing! I checked all settings even used a different mic but no text is happening.
    I am using a Pro Shure mic going into my Alesis iO|26 interface into my Mac Pro running 10.9 Mavericks. I also tried my iSight which
    I used when Enhanced Dictation installed the first time = perfect transscription. Now nothing. I rechect all settings over and over. Used TextEdit then Pages blanks, also e-mail. Any idea what is going on here?

    As per your advice I just send the following to their Mavericks, Mac Pro support.
    Seeing that lots of people have problems getting Dictation to work in Mountain Lion and now in Mavericks I respectfully request that you check and try to fix this problem.
    As a continuing (since 1995) Apple user and after lengthy research and trying numerous suggested fixes I have come to the conclusion that there might be a problem with Dictation that only the great Apple technicians can solve. Until now I have been able to get Dictation to work only intermittently.
    I can see that this ingenious application would be of great help to many many people using their Apple computers. Please please have a look at this! Thank you for many years of the great Apple experience.
