3gp playback on 6230i

I am unable to playback 3gp files downloaded from the Web on my MMR card and they do not appear in the Gallery. Why is this? I thought 3gp files are compatible with this phone. I am also having trouble with .wav files.
All advice welcome.

MMR? Where did that come from? Have a festive Ho Ho Ho!
It's def. an MMC card, but fractionally smaller than the cargo bay. That and the fact that the 6230i relies on the battery and cover for the card to make contact is the problem. Anyway, the blu-tak seems to work and I'm on the hunt for an MP3 convertor. Thanks again for your help.

you keep saying MMR, isnt that an injection you give to kids to prevent measles, mumps and rubella? lol
Seriously, i think you mean MMC - it stands for multimedia card. If you had to stick it down with blu-tak that isnt good, was it to large to fit in the phone? If that is the case you may have an SD-Card. These are pretty much identical to MMC, most devices that use MMC can use SD-Cards also...apart from Nokia phones. Also, 1gb is too large for this phone, many people on these boards are saying that they cant use a 1gb card, I think one of the mods/admins has said the phone does not support a 1gb card etc.
As regards converting wav etc, I have no idea. But if you take a look at the N91 that supports wav files... http://www.n-gage.com/nseries/v2/media/product/tech_specs/en

  • 3gp format for 6230i

    Does anyone know what Profile & Level I should use when encoding a 3gp video to playback on my Nokia 6230i handset?
    I'm experimenting with a short video clip that I've edited using Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. When encoded as a 3gp file, I transfer the video from my PC to my handset via bluetooth. My handset is able to receive the file but when I go to play it I get a message on my phone saying "Unable to open file!" I suspect that it is something to do with my encoding settings.

    I figured out, had to save as "movie to 3G" instead of renaming the file as *.3gp. and in the options button, the file format has to be 3GPP (Mobile MP4), the video codec MPEG-4 or the better H.264 and QT does its magic!

  • Play .3gp-files with JMF (jffmpeg)

    Hello,
    for a MMS-Application I'm trying to show 3gp-files with Java. I heard that it should work with jffmpeg but I still couldn't get it to work.
    I added the Codec:
    String JFFMPEG_VIDEO = "net.sourceforge.jffmpeg.VideoDecoder";
    try {
        Codec video = (Codec) Class.forName(JFFMPEG_VIDEO).newInstance();
        PlugInManager.addPlugIn(JFFMPEG_VIDEO,
                video.getSupportedInputFormats(),
                video.getSupportedOutputFormats(null),
                PlugInManager.CODEC);
    } catch (Exception e) {
        e.printStackTrace();
    }and then started the player.
    It already works for mpg-Videos, but if the file-extension is .3gp the player throws a javax.media.NoPlayerException: Cannot find a Player for : file://C:/test.3gp
    When I change the file-name to test.mpg the player initializes but doen't show a picture.
    How can I register the 3gp-extension? Or is anything else missing?
    Thanks in advance for any hint :-)

    I still didn't get it to work as I need it, but I made some progress so far:
    Instead of jffmpeg I used the FOBS for JMF Package (http://fobs.sourceforge.net/index.html) in addition with the JMF.
    Using this package allows you to play a 3gp-Video in Swing that is stored in your filesystem (!).
    I'm still having two problems with this solution:
    - I use a Java Webstart-framework and can't acces the user's harddisk, so I need to play the 3gp-Videos directly from memory (they are stored as byte[] in a database), but the current version of FOBS is limited to 3gp-Playback only from filesystem.
    - Each user of the application has to download and install JMF and FOBS for their OS (system-specific libraries). Especially FOBS is not always very easy to install, because it needs to change some of the jmf.properites. This can not be done with the JAR-distribution-System of WebStart and I'm expecting problems, when the users try to install both packages on their own.
    If you are developing a plain Swing-Application you might be satisfied with the possibilities of FOBS and JMF.
    Good luck :-)

    Hi..
    I'm from Indonesia. Most of us are Mid Level people. From what i've watch and notice, SONY's Products are the most affordable compare to 'big name companies'. But SONY has quality that can't let down their consumers. Anyway, because I'm from Indonesia, SONY's product for low end consumers are quite influence. I'd an Xperia X8. It's good and from the price range is quite affordable. But for most of Indonesian, it's price tag is still quite bit above from their economic capability. And, after i 'going through' on mobile's handset, i have an idea to 'make' a product that can fulfill my/Indonesians need.
    It's a tablet. Price tag are about US $ 200 or less [ better ].
    Here's go for main specification :
    - Form : Rectangular, thin bezel on the side, capacitive touch key on below [ in screen ], have thickness around 1,2 mm, 2 speaker above [ no speaker at back ]
    - Display : 6 inch, use 16 : 9 or 4 : 3 ratio, LCD, Capacitive touch, 16 M colours, WVGA or QHD [ better ] pixels, gorrila glass, multi touch 3 points
    - Connectivities : GSM 4 bands, HSDPA 2 Bands 7 Mbps, HSUPA 2 Mbps, WIFI a/b/g/n hotspot, Bluetooth 2, USB 2.1, TV out
    - Sound : Quite loud [ up to 75 decibel ], clear [ no stereo is okay too. That's for media, loudspeaker, ringtone ]
    - Kamera : Still = 3 MP, autofocus, image stabilizer, geo tagging, led flash. Videp = VGA, led light
    - Processor : Dual core MTK 1 Ghz or qualcomm S2/S3 1,4 Ghz single core [ a dual core are more needed ], Adreno 205, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB ROM, Internal memory 4 GB, ICS OS [ memory and battery can replace/expandable ]
    - Other : browser HTML, full suport adobe flash, AVI/MKV/WMV/MP4/3GP playback, photo/video editor, document viewer/editor, task manager, JAVA, battery 3000 mAH.

  • Play rtpdump files with jmf

    hello,
    I am trying to play a file created with rtpdump (or etheral) directly with jmf. I dont know, how to create valid datasource and processor objects for a file with stored rtp-packets. Is there a possibility? Do I have to write an own demultiplexer fr this rtp-dump format? Especially this RTP packets uses the H.263 format.
    Maybe there exists a code fragment for this problem.

  • 3GPs from 6280 won't play in Multimedia player

    I've recorded a number of 3GP videos on my 6280 but I can't play them back on my PC. It seems that the software (PC Suite) doesn't seem to like it when i record with a video resolution greater than 174*144. Anyone else notice this?

    If you look through these forums you will notice that no one has come up with any answers for compatability PlayBack problems.
    I have looked for years and read the entire manual but still Im making great DVDs for my Macs but watch out if you give them to any one else,
    Im about to figure out how I can get the most out of DVD burning in Toast, at least I know the DVDs will play anywhere!

    Very new versions of FFmpeg have native amr-nb support. I'm not sure if it happened before or after the most recent FFmpeg bump in the repos.

    VLC is also a converter, but you'll encounter some issue when you use it to convert 3GP to MP4.
    The wisest choice to convert 3GP to MP4 for playback on most popular players and devices is using a professional 3GP to MP4 Converter.

    Actually I have tried that as well i.e. formatting the card and recopying the files Also, it is happening with the original card as well, which earlier worked fine.
    All I did was that I copied all contents of my Nokia 1GB card to hard disk (using a card reader) and then copied them to Kingston 2GB card. Then I inserted the Kingston card in the phone and found that the M4A files were jittery...so I put Nokia card in the phone (switched off) to check the status but now the files on Nokia card were also jittery.
    Also, I have around 600MB of OGG files on the Kingston card and they play fine...its just M4A files on the card that have problems.

  • Playback Video (format 3GPP) on j2me midp 2.0

    Hi all,
    By now all recent mobile phone should playback many video type included le format 3GP.
    But I can't playback any Video from J2me midp 2.0 API.
    Are there someone here who know a solution independent of device to playback video on j2me midp platform ?
    Thank you,
    Tien
    (www.tranthuong.com)

    Something like this:
    private void playFile( String filename ) {
      try
        InputStream is = getClass().getResourceAsStream(filename);
        m_player = Manager.createPlayer(is, "video/3gpp");
        m_player.prefetch();
        m_player.start();
      catch (Exception ex)
        System.out.println(ex.toString());
    } Also in MIDP 2 check VolumeControl
    If your mobile support JSR-135:
    try {
         Player p = Manager.createPlayer("http://abc.mpg");
         p.realize();
         VideoControl vc;
         if ((vc = (VideoControl)p.getControl("VideoControl")) != null)
             add((Component)vc.initDisplayMode(vc.USE_GUI_PRIMITIVE, null));
         p.start();
    } catch (MediaException pe) {
    } catch (IOException ioe) {
    }In this case you also can
    InputStream is = getClass().getResourceAsStream(filename);
    Player p = Manager.createPlayer(is, "video/3gpp");

  • Jerky 6500 Slide Video Playback

    The spec says it should playback video in QVGA(320x240) encoded as H263 or Mpeg 4 at 30fps. I just cant get it to play anything back without it being extrememly jerky and even sometimes losing sync with the sound.
    Stupidly I would have expected the software provided with the phone (Ulead Video Toolbox Basic) which asked for my phone version during installation to at least make videos which can be played on the phone. I've had the video stop on several of them during playback, and they're always jerky.
    I tried encoding things in SUPER, that also provides jerky playback. Does the phone need to be returned, or am I doing something wrong? Any ideas gratefully received.
    Thanks :-)

    I'm still on the quest to resolve my video playback issues. I recorded a video from the phones camera in it's maximum setting, 640x480 at 15fps, so i was kinda making the assumption that if I encode a video at QVGA 320x240, then because the video is a lot smaller it'll playback at 30fps.
    I did an analysis of the video from the camera, and the interesting thing is that it has created a video using sound settings which I dont seem to be able to produce in any software, specifically it is using the AMR_NB with 2 channels, which doesnt seem to be an option with any encoder (including Super which is extremely flexible usually, in fact they say in their FAQs that it's not possible for this type of codec but nokia did it), does anyone know what can produce video conversion with these settings?

  • 6300 video playback dissapointment

    I was given a new 6300 for my birthday and have just got round to swapping over from my old phone (SONY k750i), But im really dissapointed with the quality of the video playback. all the videos i had on my 750i played flawlessley, but in the much newer 6300 they appear all block and rough. The videos are in 3Gpp format. does the 6300 require a better format.

    Hi, I too own both a 6300 and a K750i. The older SE phone has only a 220x176 pixel screen with 262,144 colour, the 6300 has a 240x320 screen with up to 16.7 million colours.
    The increased pixellation may simply be caused by the increased resolution, on the 6300 you are more aware of the small inadequacies in the video because the larger, better quality screen is more sensitive to them. Even when not using landscape 'full screen' mode, the 6300 stretches the image over its full 240 horizontal pixels even through the 3GP format is usually 176 pixels wide.
    Mobile video formats are not brilliant quality to begin with because they are heavily compressed formats to keep files sizes down. I have no major issues with playing files created by the cameras of the K750i and K800i in my Nokia 6300, my only issue is that of the three I find that the K800i is happy with more MP4 formats than the K750i and the 6300...

    We are converting 3gp files using ffmpeg.
    Any pointers will be very helpful. If more info is needed let
    me know.
    Thanks in advance.

    Why don't we start over and go step by step from the
    beginning...
    #1 - Create a project folder somewhere on your hard drive.
    Name it. You will save your fla, swf, and mp3 files in this folder.
    #2 - create new flash document.
    #3 - save flash file to project folder.
    #4 - drag MediaPlayback component to the stage.
    #5 - open Component inspector. Click mp3 radio button. Place
    name of mp3 file in URL field.
    #6 - make sure mp3 is in project folder with fla file.
    #7 - test movie.
    That "should" work.
