I have iPhone 3GS and I'm looking forward to ios 5 released. I wonder if ios 5 make my iPhone slow or decrease battery life ?

It doesn't seem to run slowly on my 3Gs, but the battery is draining much faster than it used to. It was plugged in all night, unplugged around 7:45 and after some minor use (mostly trying to get the cloud to sync properly), I'm down to 74%.

An iPhone 3GS is too old to update to the very latest iOS and you will never be able to use apps that are compatible. The phone is just too old now in technology terms and the app makers have all moved on, so it's time to get a new phone.
Ideally, perhaps get an iPhone 4s or if you can afford it, an iPhone 5s or 5c which are the newest models. -
With my old iPhone 3GS and iOS 6 no problem a home with my WLAN. But now with my brand new iPhone 5 and iOS 6 no access to my WLAN at home. What can I do?

Problems with Iphone 3GS and IOS 6.1.3
IOS 6.1.3 downloads and installs, when the phone restarts it wants to download the upgrade again.
About shows that the phone is running IOS 6.1.2
I have downloaded the upgrade 3 times with same result.
Restarted the phone manually to no avail.
What's wrong ?Confirm 3GS can be upgraded to iOS 6.1.
I was sitting on the sideline and finally upgraded ATT 3GS to iOS 6.1 last night as follows:
1. Backup via iTunes to iMac
2. Completed and exited iTune.
3. Upgrade 3GS to iOS 6.1 via WiFi (not iTune)
4. Follow on-screen iOS 6.1 Setup (just a few features to turn on/off)
While I have only got a few hours on iOS 6.1 since I got up, iCloud, 3G and WiFiworking fine.
Beware YouTube is gone for good.

I have just downloadded iOS 5 to my iphone 3GS - it now takes around 30 seconds to open up everyday items such as phone and contacts - sometimes it reverts back to my homescreen. I have redownloaded and restored a number of times with the same thing happening each time - is this a common problem?
I updated to ios5 about a week ago and things just from bad to worse. Today the keyboard clicks faded away. When I was typing my unlock code, there wee clicks for the first three numbers and not for the last three. Then all clicks stopped completely. Now music does not play thru the speakers. All sounds are there with headphones. Have checked all settings, done soft and hard resets, Help!

I have an iphone 3GS and I have upgraded it to iOS 6. Since then it doesn't work properly.
Every now and then it has been restarting by itself and requiring restore. When I connect it to itunes it restarts again and again without letting me take any action. Is there any solution?Hey, There are afew things you can try.
- Simply turn your phone off and back on again
- Hold down your home button and your lock button and let goes as soon as the screen goes black (Phone will power down) - Then turn on your phone and hey presto!
- Back up your iPhone to your PC, then restore it..
this ones last cause I think you may have tried it already..
- Close all open applications

i factory unlock my iphone 3gs and was on ios 6.1.2 and updatednit to 6.1.3 with itunes and the phone got lock again at activation screen. i try downgrading to 4.1 with baseband 5.13.04 and want to upgrade back to 6.1.2. pls help me
Sorry, downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple, thus there is no official way to do so. Your phone was re-locked to the carrier it was originally locked to because you hacked it to unlock it. Apple's servers detected such & re-locked your phone. You need to contact the carrier your phone is locked to if you want to get it officially unlocked.

Need help finding out what happened to my phone and what I can do. After trying to update my iPhone 3GS to IOS 5 my phone will no longer work and is an unknown device to any computer. It is like it wiped out everything on the iPhone and has no hardware or data on it. At the end of the download and update of IOS 5 it said there was an error during the process and gave me no option but to push ok and know phone is not working. The screen shows the USB plug and iTunes symbol, but computers will not recognize device.
What was the error number? That would be very useful since the following gives actions for various errors.

i just upgraded my iphone 3gs to ios 6 not sure if it updated but now when i turn on my phone it says automatically that i need to connect it to itunes using the USB port but when i connect it it comes up as new hardware and cannot find a program/software for my device even though i have the latest itunes on my computer. i have tried reinstalling itunes but it still cannot find my phone and now i cannot use my phone as it is stuck on the sync to itunes screen

I recently updated to the new itunes and it prompted me to upgrademy iphone 3gs to ios 5.1. I did so and now I cannot activate my phone. I am stuck on the set up, which I go through, only to get the "no sim" error. Have removed sim (tested - works in another phone), replaced into iphone and tried activation again with no luck. Any offerings are much appreciated!

1. My comment re: blackberry is not meant to be ignorant. Truth is that many iphone users are experiencing the same issues with essentially no connectivity to any network. So, my comment is meant to be actual fact. In fact, as of last night (Jan 5th), i still see many isers - 4gs, ipad2, many devices - still experiencing the same issue.
2. Thanks for the "more like this box tip. I have read through all relevant tips/advice and no luck. Have tried removing/reinserting SIM but nothing. Have cleaned sim and sim tray and nothing. Tested sim in an older phone and sim works fine.
