3GS applications opening randomly??

The last coupla days, my new black 32GB 3GS is acting pretty buggy. I will leave it on the home screen and it goes into standby. Sometimes, when I turn it back on, it will already be on an application like Youtube or a specific email is opened, even though it was at the home screen and lying flat on my desk when it went to standby.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Other bugs I am experiencing:
*I occasionally get duplicate emails of all my messages in my inbox
*My screen will flash sometimes when I am in the middle of browsing on Safari
*Sometimes, the sounds of the keypad will soften and then get louder, for no reason, while typing in a text message or a web address (and no, I am NOT covering up the speaker).
I have 2 weeks left on trial for the iphone....deciding whether I will keep it or not. The Apple "geniuses" simply tell me to power the phone off and on, and they think it will solve everything.

It worth a try but I wouldn't expect it to. Your next step would be to restore, either as new or from a backup.

Application Focus randomly changes

Im about to go nuts... Even as I type this, Lion is doing this crazy thing.
If I have a bunch of windows open, which I always do, the Application focus randomly changes. To better describe, If I am typing something in the address bar in Safari, it will bring windows from other applications, but the cursor is still in Safari, typing the keys I hit. I can't see what I am typing because it brings EVERYTHING to the front (Excel, Word, PPT, Skype, SFDC Chatter.. and the 10,000 other apps
I end up having to having to minimize everything to the dock so that I can see what I am typing.. and to keep from pulling my hair out.
This is a hard one to search discussions for, I hope it has been solved!

PS - This happens on my brand new MBP, 2 year old quad core iMac and second gen MBA.

Well, I guess there's the standard troubleshooting stuff to try to see if we can't get a hint....
Have you tried:
- Starting in Safe Mode (hold shift key during startup) and seeing if the behavior persists?
- Creating a new user (or using Guest) and seeing if the behavior persists for that user?

Itunes opening randomly

For some reason as soon as I close itunes and go about my business with other applications, it opens up again. No matter how many times I quit out of it. I am definitly not accidentally clicking it open again. I'm not sure if there is some type of short cut programed or if its some how in macs version of "startup" programs. Can anybody solve this?

That happened to me before. I used to use an iTunes widget and once I got rid of that it stopped opening randomly. I've also heard a restart of your machine fixes it.

Applications starting randomly

Well, I had hoped the 1.1.4 update would fix that my applications are starting to open randomly. It actually caused me to make a phone call (which I didn't know about) because of that. My last iPhone started doing that in a big way and then it started calling numbers without any input from me. I did a couple restores on that one, then took it to the Genius Bar & they just gave me a new phone which had worked great until recently.
I'm getting ready to do a restore, but if anyone has any other suggestions - I'm open.

Couple questions I have
1. Is the iPhone set to turn off within 1 min, If so does it still automatically dial people without your knowledge?
2. Are you using a Bluetooth Headset at all?
If might be possible when the Bluetooth is in your pocket or bag that pressure is pressing the call button thus dialing random numbers or random contacts without your knowledge. As far as launching Applications I do not believe the bluetooth headset would do this.
3. Are you using any other accessories or cases with your iPhone? Might be possible that one of these accessories is causing this. Try not using them for a couple days see if issue still occurs.
4. Clean the connector on bottom of the iPhone and the head jack, Blowing into it will at times blow out any dust or particles touching the connectors. Do the same with any accessories.
Next time you do a restore, Setup as new iPhone if you have not done so already. It might be possible that corrupt data from one of your files is causing an issue. Please only setup as new iPhone if your contacts, Calenders, etc are already on the PC/Mac and ready to go back via a Sync.
Post back if you need further assistance and to report results.

Safari crashes when I open random pages

So apparently many people are having this problem in different forms or types but my safari browser will crash when I open random pages of the internet. Everything goes smoothly about 90% of the time and then the rest pages will close, specifically ones that have videos on them sometimes. Help!

Try emptying the Safari cache. Press Command + Option + E on your keyboard. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, try deleting the Cacle.db file.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a new tab.
If that didn't help, see if you can troubleshoot extensions before Safari crashes.
Go to the menu bar, click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. If there are any installed, swtich to OFF, quit and relaunch Safari and try opening a new tab. If that helped, uninstall one extension at time, quit and relaunch Safari until you find the one tha'ts causing Safari to crash.
If it's not an extension issue, might be a third party plugin...
Back to Safari > Preferences > Security
Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins
Quit and relaunch Safari, try a new tab. If that helped, follow the instructions for troubleshooting plug-ins here.

Applications open by themselves

Occasionally, applications open by themselves.
Specifically, the computer announces in its assigned voice "Opening iWeb". And iWeb opens.
Also does it with "Backup".
Need help stopping this behavior.....
Neither app is set to "open at login".
Seems to happen randomly - don't notice any particular pattern.

Step one, System Preferences->Universal Access->Seeing->turn VoiceOver OFF. For the app launching, check all LaunchAgents, LaunchDaemons, and StartupItems folders for anything associated with iWeb or Backup and then delete them.

Safari / browser problems, wont open random webpages

I am having problems with all of my browsers opening random websites.
All was working fine until one day Safari simply refused to open a few random sites. I thought it was a provider glitch, but they said it's not and besides I have no trouble opening those same sites on my iPad and even from my Bootcamp Windows 7 system. I have no idea what is causing it, some sites simply won't open without any explanation. The browser just keeps loading and loading and loading, but no effect. To make matters even more confusing, it even won't load some images in the mail. So I'm guessing it is a system-wide issue but I have no idea what is causing it. The system is up to date.
The problem is the same in Safari, Chrome, Opera and Firefox with same web pages.
Any and all help would be appreciated, if not...guess I'll just reinstall the system.

How do you make an application open on a specific monitor? I have two monitors, and I was able to get Firefox to open on the secondary display always by resizing it with the option or command key [I forget which one] and then quitting it. Now everytime I start it, it opens on the second monitor.
However, when I try to do the same with QuickTime [when playing videos], it always opens on the primary display no matter what I do with it. How do I make it always open on the secondary display?

Thanks for the suggestion, but no, Spaces is not what I want. I have two physical monitors, and simply want an application to always open on one monitor, not be able to switch back and forth between different desktops.

It's the Resume feature of Lion:

If you shutdown your computer you should get a dialog asking if you want applications to resume on the next startup. Simply uncheck the box to prevent that from occurring. Open General preferences and uncheck the option to Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps. You can also install a third-party utility to control resume features on individual applications: RestoreMeNot or Application State Cleaner.

When you start a new program, do the others disappear into the background (i.e. minimize)
If so, you have somehow gotten the system into Single-app mode. This reacts as if you held down the option key when starting the new app.
You can check to see what is set with this commanddefaults read com.apple.dock single-appIf you get "The domain/default pair of (com.apple.dock, single-app) does not exist" then something else is wrong, but I don't know what it is.
If you get a 1 returned (or yes or true), then you can disable it with this:defaults delete com.apple.dock single-app

I am a software dev and I wish to have my application open links in Firefox.
Using ShellExecute(), i can do with with commandlines like:
firefox.exe http://support.mozilla.org
But I also want the option to open the link in private mode.
I am able to start firefox in private mode by doing this:
firefox.exe -private
However, if I add a link to the command line
firefox.exe -private http://support.mozilla.org
I get strange results.
If firefox is not running, it launches 2 copies of the application.
One that opens in private mode and the other opens in normal mode and goes to the URL specified.
If firefox is already running, it just opens the URL in a new tab.
No private mode instance is launched.
Am I using the command-line syntax incorrectly?

It will never work if Firefox is already running as Firefox will use the already opened Firefox instance. 
In that case only using a separate profile will work.
You can try to specify the -url switch as well.
*firefox.exe -private -url http://support.mozilla.org
You can also look at the -new-tab switch.
*firefox.exe -private -new-tab http://support.mozilla.org

WebDynpro ABAP application opening blank in portal

Dear All,
There is a strange issue which is being faced by one user. when the user tries to access a Webdynpro ABAP application in Portal then it opens in new window but nothing is displayed in the tray. Now when the user right clicks on the opened window->properties and copies the url from properties and pastes it in new tab (IE 8 is used) then the application opens and works fine.
The portal and backend roles are fine for the user as he can access/work when the application is opened using the copied url.
Please suggest what could be the problem for the user. For other users the issue mentioned is not there.
