3GS - delay in charging, seems to location based..

Hi, I've had this problem for several months now and I can't find any information on how to deal with it:
Under both OS3 and OS4, when connected to a Dension Car Kit (with a charge convertor block), iPhone 3GS won't take a charge until, it seems, it's physically gone a couple of miles up the road. It always starts charging at the same spot on the road - it's not 'time' based, I could get to that spot on the road after five minutes or half an hour, no charge until it's passed. Putting the phone into airplane mode means it takes even longer to finally accept the charge and isn't sensitive to travelling past that same spot on the road.
Unaffected is iPod Touch 1st Gen, so that rules out a fault with the (admittedly flaky) Dension unit. The charge convertor block works fine when connected to the firewire charger for a 3rd Gen Ipod with the iPhone connected to the other end, thus ruling out the charging block.
I can only think that there is some kind of location based service which is blocking the phone from taking charge the minute I drop it into the cradle.
Any thoughts?

  • Location based reminders not working in IOS8 on iphone 5s, please help?

Location based reminders are not working when using Siri since upgrading to IOS8. Asking Siri to "remind me when I get home" also turns off reminders in Location Services. Please help

I have the same issue with Siri turning off the location setting for reminders.  In fact my location based reminders do not work at all. IPhone 5s, ios 8.1, upgraded to 8.1.1 and that did not fix these issues.
SEems like Apple does not test the location setting every other upgrade to iOS. They break it, then fix it then break it etc...

  • Problems with location based applications

I am having problems with all of my location based applications i.e. none of them work. It seems I can never be located by the GPS no matter where i am and i just get a permanently spinning wheel. I have deleted and reloaded the Apps (although even with the generic Maps App i cannot be located) and i have reset the phone Reset iPhone (but havent Reset Settings or Restored yet). I love my iPhone but this is very frustrating. Can someone please help ?

Didn't work unfortunately. My Location Services were On so i proceeded to Restore. All went ok on the Restore but i still have the same problem. I have 4 App's that are location based and none of them work. Your suggestion ? Thanks for your help.

  • Location Based Security application?

    Hello everyone,
I've been searching the App World for a 'Location Based' Security app, but can't seem to find what Im looking for.
I like the security that is native to the Blackberry, but when I am at work or at home, I like to not to have to use the password to access my device.
I am looking for something that would look at the location of the device and know whether or not the security should automatically be turned on.
Does anyone know if this has been developed?

If you can change the settings via a script (or maybe a 3rd party product), you could update your AC profile to launch the script/program to either set or unset the configuration.
For example, I use a script (well, plain old batch file actually) to map network drives when a certain work profile is launched. There must be a way to set screen saver policy via a windows shell script (WSH)...

  • Location based wifi not working as expected

I would expect that location based wifi would either turn wifi off if not in a place with saved networks, or turn wifi on if arriving in a place with saved networks, but it does neither. I have tested this by turning wifi on when at home, then periodically checking status in places with no networks saved or open, and it's still on, and also by turning wifi off when away from home, then checking at home to see if it's turned on, and it isn't. So doesn't seem to be working either way. I have stamina mode active, and some people have said that location based wifi won't work with this.but most say works just fine, and would have expected Sony to say if different power saving options were incompatible. Always have location sensing GPS turned on. Often have mobile data off. Some have said that this is necessary for location based wifi to work, but others not, and to my way of thinking, location based wifi should turn wifi off whenever out of range of saved network, and add long as phone has some way of knowing where it is to wake up wifi, then it shouldn't matter which location modality it uses. Can anyone shed any light on this? Google's not being very helpful. Thanks

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
You do need to have data turned on and as such you must also have Stamina mode turned off for this to work sorry.

  • Location based WiFi not working

When I'm not at home I keep my xperia WiFi turned off. When I come home it doesn't turn automatically on even if I got my home WiFi registered on my phone! I always have to do that manually. Of course I have the option ON in "location based WiFi". Could somebody help me, please?

You may need to perform a software repair using PC companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

  • Location based reminders don't work

I have tried to use Siri to take an instruction such as ' remind me when I get to 'a location'  but I get the ' I can only remind you when I have a time'.
I have done the following :
    Go to the place
Open G maps and select the arrow to mark the location
Click on the arrow and add / edit contacts with the location details.
    However, it doesn't work.
Is there some 'trick' to make Siri understand how to understand the location after you've saved it to contacts ?
'Remind me to do something when I leave here' works fine but 'Remind me to do something when I arrive somewhere' does not.
It's like Siri doesn't know the location even after it's been saved to contacts using the G maps app.

I am partly wrong in that the iPhone 4 also supports location based reminders, but I am correct that the 3GS does not. It was supported in the initial beta builds of iOS 5 while it was going out to developers, but there were a lot of bugs with it due to some hardware limitations that prevented accurate GPS fence locations to be processed. The final build of iOS 5 does not offer support for the 3GS. I'm not just making that up. The official user guide that Apple supplies indicates it on page 95. Here's a link.

  • Why are location-based reminders no longer working?

I have been using a 4s for the last couple of years and have not had an issue with the reliability of location-based reminders until recently. I have set these reminders both manually and via Siri, in iOS 6 and now 7. For a significant time, the reminders worked without fail in iOS 6, but over the last few months, they have stopped working (while still using iOS 6). In fact, it seems that when I set a location-based reminder manually, completed the process with the "done" button, and then double-checked that reminder's specific settings (the location info and the "on" toggle for a location-trigger), none of my input info was registered - i.e. the toggle was now off and no location info was remembered upon the double-check. Figuring that the app was no longer being as useful in iOS 6 since the intro of iOS 7 (perhaps it was getting more buggy in any new updates/iterations while I still used iOS 6?), I've recently updated to iOS 7, and the above issue persists. Location services for Reminders is on in the settings. Any explanation or fix..?!
    Thank you!!

Yeah it's weird that I can create location based reminders via iOS Safari using desktop mode and use a third party app that syncs with reminders to create location alerts and I can create location based alerts in the calendar app but not reminders. Could have sworn in iOS 7 I could.

  • Siri keeps telling me "your calendar does not support location-based reminders" when I ask her to remind me to feed the cat when I get home. My address is in contacts and it has worked previously. Did iOS 8 change something?

calendar does not support location-based reminders....
i Just found a similar question below and it resolved my issue. Turn off the sync to exchange email and all works fine now.

Couldn't agree more.  I've been *trying* to use location reminders ever since buying my iPhone 4S but as yet, out of many, many attempts they've only actually worked once.
The kid problem is very simple, the way the phone needs the location to be an address in your address book, and it's subsequent inability to correctly locate the address. My home address is a correct postal address, and has been unchanged for 40+ years, yet clicking on my address from my own contact entry puts my location some distance down my street.
Whilst I understand the issue with the address lookup, it seems to be a massive problem with the location based reminders as it's just not possible to set useful reminders.
What if I want to remind myself of something when I arrive at the car park on a shopping trip?  There is no address for that in my contacts, I just want to pinpoint the location on the maps and say 'remind me when I get there'.  Surely that's the simplest my far.  Same with address book contacts, if you had a field with the gps position in then one could tag the locations and know they were 100% accurate for location services.
Such a shame as it's one of the key reasons I upgraded my phone and as it stands it just plain doesn't work.

  • [ios5] [iPad2] no location based reminders

*** Why i cant create location based reminder on my ipad 2 It was the main feature for me in os5 and now seems it is not pissible. Csn someone help me with that??? Thanks

No I can see tonefox's point and that is probably why Apple left it off. It gives another incentive to buy the iphone. BUUUUUTTT three things.
    1. Like Hollowcorpse this is my calendar, filofax, etc. as a mobile office I need my reminders. The iPad was also advertised as a portable office sooo this would have to be included.
    2. It NEVER was indicated that it would not be included. This nefarious way and my belief that Apple left it off to make more money upsets me. I know Apple is no better than any other corporation but with the "be different" slogan and the culture that they have propogated it is disappointing.
    3. We paid good money (more than iphones) for our devices, why should we not get the benefits? If there are technical reasons that's a different matter. Hey, I'll even swallow a feature (siri) that would run and we don't get but it was  also never indicated that we would get it.
I understand tonefox that you are not disagreeing with us but trying to show the other side. But again I feel that Apple sold us the device also as a mobile office and touted the feature. In that case we should get it.

  • Has Apple acknowledged that there's an issue with location based reminders?

After searching several posts, I haven't found where Apple is working on a solution for the location reminders issue.  There are several recommendations that people make...but most don't seem to work.  What say you Apple??
Please reply with a link if I missed something during my search that answers my question. Thx

It was a bug. In iOS 7.1 Apple fixed the location based Reminders. Users no longer need to have the Reminders app running in the background for location based reminders to fire off.

  • Location based reminders no longer working

I currently have a wifi only iPad air 2 And ever since getting this iPad I've never been able to CREATE location based reminders. Now I've owned every regular wifi only iPad's and in the past I've been able to create location based reminders so this is a change either within iOS 8 or something weird is going on with my device.
I've restored as new twice and still nothing. The issue shouldn't be related to iPad being wifi only because u can create them via the web and via an iMac or even iPod.
WIthin settings, privacy,  location services I don't have reminders listed and when I go to the reminders app I dont have any option that would prompt me to allow or deny location access which seems to be the issue. For example location services doesn't show calendar either until you go into the calendar and tap on add event and tap within the location field.
Also within settings, privacy, location services, system services EVERYTHING is enabled.
In my mind the issue is that I need to be able to tap on something within reminders to prompt me for location access however I'm not seeing anything. I also have an iPhone 6 plus and have no issues creating reminders and I've also reset location settings in the reset menu. The two restores I did this week consisted of a restore with the device and a restore with iTunes.
I Can also create location based reminders on my iPad using the Workflow automation app which creates the reminder with location alert within reminders however when I go to the reminders app it doesn't show a location but when I check on my iPhone 6 plus the location shows up.
    BAffled.

Yeah it's weird that I can create location based reminders via iOS Safari using desktop mode and use a third party app that syncs with reminders to create location alerts and I can create location based alerts in the calendar app but not reminders. Could have sworn in iOS 7 I could.

  • Location Based Applications don't work

I am having problems with all of my location based applications i.e. none of them work. It seems I can never be located by the GPS no matter where i am and i just get a long spinning wheel before i get a message back saying something like 'Location can't be found'. I have deleted and reloaded the Apps (although even with the generic Maps App i cannot be located). I have reset the phone using Reset iPhone. I have Restored the phone. And now i have just got a NEW handset - yet they still don't work. In Settings -> General -> Location Services, i have the setting switched to On. Surely i can't be that unlucky to get TWO faulty handsets ! This is very frustrating as i just can't work it out. Can someone please help ?

I actually got this to work today by telling Siri (precisely) "remind me when I arrive here to xxxxx". First time it's ever worked. Please consider the problem solved.

  • Delayed Payment charges and Arrears in the Invoice output

    Hi,
can we show Delayed Payment charges and Arrears in the Invoice output in case of SD invoice. From where can i take those. suggest.

    Hi,
Please check whether the SMARTFORM/SAP SCRIPT  was created in the DE login langage, if so then you have to maintain the Language conversion using SE63 transaction
Goto SE63 and in that transaction you have option to convert the TEXT to different langage.
Use transaction SE63 (translations). From the menu select:
    Translation - Logntexts - Sapscript - Forms
From this point on you can translate both the descriptions and the
window texts. This transaction also checks if you don't forget to
translate a part of the script.
    Hope it is clear
    cheers,

  • Devices and I are in one city but time zone and location based apps show devices location in another city

iPad2 with IOS 8.1.2 located with me in Eastern Time Zone city but settings under General reflects Central Time Zone(Chicago).  All location based Apps are reflecting a Central Time Zone city, one that I have never visited.  I did an erase and restore of a backup prior to this issue but it was not resolved.  What do I do?

I am having a similar issue. I moved about 10-15 miles. Any app, such as Maps, a Weather, etc, that use location keep showing my current location as my old address. I'm interested in hearing the solution to your problem.
