3gs Iphone Activation.

I got the unlock confirmation from AT&T for my 3gs iPhone, But problem is when I'm trying to activate it with other sim card, message is displaying on itunes SIM card not inserted properly and on iphone message appears and says' server is temporarily unavailable. Today got a unlock steps from AT&T saying I need a original SIM card to re-activate and unlock my phone, I'm not having the original SIM and I have already formatted my phone to higher version without backup, I cant even go back and restore it also and on itunes its not showing any data.
Please advice and suggest steps.

You should contact the carrier about that, maybe they will send you a SIM to activate it: Check this article:

Not a good sign. Try forcing the phone into recovery mode & restoring it. If this fails, make an appointment at an Apple store:
Turn your phone off. Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.

  • Iphone 3gs shows activation required, hocked up to iTunes and it is not recognized. Did the restore but just gets to the end and gives an error message it could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (-1). Can someone assist me in next steps please?

Instructions to get the phone back working temporary.. till there is a real fix.
    1. turn off the phone
    2. fire up iTunes
    3. press and hold the home button, plug in the cable, hold till you get to see the recovery mode
    4. iTunes will the allow to choose restore the phone back to 5.0.1 ( no other choice)
    5. iTunes will then ask you to choose which previous backup to would like to recover.
(note: please do not reboot your phone unless necessary, i realize at times after reboot, it goes back to sq1)

  • How to configure my 3gs iphone? it says your iphone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable...... :(

how to configure my 3gs iphone? it says your iphone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable......
i live in iran. this 3gs was a gift from america .. it contains NOTHING. i can do nothing with it. it cannot be updated cuz the version is low. i dunno what t do please help.

    Possible causes:
    1. Your antivirus is blocking access to gs.apple.com.
    2. Your phone is jailbroken.
    3. Your computer has been used at some time in the past to jaibreak some iOS device (not necessarily the phone with the problem), and its network database was corrupted by the hacking software that was used.
    4. Apple's activation servers are down (very rare, and never for more than an hour or so).
    5. The phone was reported stolen. If it was it can never be activated again.
For 1. try disabling your antivirus.
For 2. & 3. you need to go somewhere other than an apple forum for help. Although you can try deleting lines containing gs.apple.com from your "hosts" file on your computer.

Well it sounds like it is. Thus, we cannot help you on these forums. You'll need to search for Google on how to unjailbreak - and it's a good idea to keep it that way.

  • Is there a problem with iPhone update server, I can't seem to update my IOS on my wife's 3GS iPhone, keep getting message that the server is not reachable, yet I am connected to internet and had no problem syncing the phone or downloading iTunes software

What's up with the iPhone update server. I have repeatedly tried in recent days to update the IOS software on my wife's 3GS iPhone but keep getting message that the iPhone update server cannot be contacted. The phone syncs normally and I am sure I am connected to the internet properly. Also I have successfully updated ITunes software during this same time frame.  What gives??

Try this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694 and look at this section.
Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com
Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

  • Re: Impossible to activate your iPhone, activation server temporarily unavailable.. how long it will take?

    hi there
just update ios to try beta 6  to our test iphone 3gs  but we got the message
Impossible to activate your iPhone, activation server temporarily unavailable..
we try several times to activate it but nothing. we have the dev account and also the provis auth. any idea why this could happen ?
    thanks

As you are running a beta you must be a developer. You will have to go to the Developer forums for help.
I suspect there is nothing wrong with the activation server; more likely you hacked the phone to get the beta. Now you are stuck.

  • Update 3GS iPhone to IOS5 fail

    Hi,
My 3GS iPhone was updated yesterday to IOS 5 using last release of ITunes (10.5.0.142). he was running the IOS 4.1. Once the update finished, the phones reboot and show a wizzard, asking for Country, Language, WiFi, etc... to activate the iPhone. When the iPhone tries to activate i got this error message:
"Your iPhone could not be activated becaue the activation server is temporary unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate..."
And it's impossible to access the applications.
It seems that the IOS is a beta version and only available for develloper who need to activate the account. I Check the IOS release and it's the correct one (9A334).
The iPhone do not recognyze the SIM from Movistar SPAIN. The phone is not jailbroken (it was jailbroken in the past but was restored). I'm not sure if the base band is the correct one because right now, I cannot check it.
Have tried to downgrade and it not work. My iPhone is dead. Have check the web and it seems a problem of the 3GS and no solution was found.
    Any helps is welcome
    Julien

    Restore i guess ......

  • I have a hp officejet 4500 wireless . How do I print from my 3GS iPhone ?

I have a hp officejet 4500 wireless so how do I print from my 3GS iPhone?

You can use Airprint Activator. It will see WiFi printers that are not Airprint capable. I have an iPhone 4 with iOS5.0.1 and a Canon WiFi printer that is not Airprint capable. The Airprint Activator works great. So, whenever I want to print from my iPhone, the PRINT function sees my Canon and I can use it.
You install in on a Mac that is on your WiFi network. Make sure the Mac is connected to your network via WiFi and not via an ethernet connection. I think there's a Windows version of this floating around too which I don't have a URL.

  • Factory Unlock of 02 PAYG 3GS iPhone

    Hi,
I recently asked 02 to unlock my iPhone (3GS PAYG).
I completed the online for to request this.
02 Have taken payment (£15 from my PAYG balance) and sent me an SMS to confirm that I can now unlock my iPhone using iTunes.
I have plugged my iPhone into Itunes (with the new network SIM) as instructed but the phone is still not unlocked.
I have manually logged into the iTunes store to ensure that i'm logged in.
Does iTunes confirm that the phone has been unlocked somewhere? What's the process please?
Do I need to manually sync the phone (I've tried this countless times with the 'sync' button) or is there an 'unlock phone option somewhere \ should this unlock process happen automatically when i teathr the phone to my laptop?
Are Apple and 02 actually in sync? When i called 02 they told me that this is Apples problem and they've done everything they need to.

When you connect your iphone to itunes the phone contacts apple unlocking servers which would then unlock the iphone. it sometimes takes awhile i read somewhere that the iphone activation servers were down this might be why your iphone isnt unlocking yet. give it till after the event today. i know its asking for much as you want to test drive that bad boy. o2 are just the middle men they send apple a request to unlock the iphone and when they get confirmation from apple that the request has been processed 02 send you a text informing you that your phone has now been unlocked.

I just backed up my 3gs iphone using itunes.  All my photos and contacts have disappeared from my phone.  I am unable to locate them on my computer.  HELP!!!

OK, I understand.  Try this ... it's much safer.  It will simply restore your backup, but not do anything to your iOS:
While your iPhone is plugged in to iTunes, right click on the iPhone icon on the left side of the iTunes display.
Choose "Restore from backup ..." from the pop-up menu that appears.
Again, what this will do is place that backup back on your iPhone without changing iOS.  So you should be very confident in the backup contents before doing this.
