3Gs Keyboard lag with iOS5

I've noticed that there appears to be serious keyboard lag with iOS5 on the 3Gs 16GB model that I have.
Anyone else?

I just update to iOS 5 few days ago, well, the new features were just fantastic, but I found a lag problem with my iPhone4, yes, it was LAG. Major LAG
here are some cases：
1. lag when scrolling（such as in address book or other pages with long contents)
2. lag when opening a folder or closing a folder
3. all game sthat once played well are now like a 16 bit movie.
the issue seems just like a computer in high CPU usage or with low memory, and sometimes it made me a little bit freak out. And want to shut the phone down.
After I cleared all the histories and cookies and caches and closed all background APPs, the issue remained,,,
There was no problem when my iPhone 4 was iOS 4.1 and previous versions.
and my iOS 4.2.1 works fine inside the APPs,,,

IPhone 3gs runs slow with iOS5

Hello all,
I've an iPhone 3GS and even with iOS4 it started to get slower but when I upgraded it to iOS5 it became even much slower.
I tried to Restore using iTunes but it didn't restored to factory defaults, with the original iOS version. I saw in Apple's site and they only have until iOS4.2.
Is there a way to do so?

When you restore to original settings, it doesn't reload your old IOS - just the original settings.
I'm afraid that IOS5 is going to be slow on a 3GS, but you can do things to help, such as keeping the number of apps open to a minimum; turn off location services for apps that don't really need them and to reduce the number of apps doing a fetch or at least reduce how often they fetch new data.

Help with Safari crashing and keyboard lags with 2.1

I have an issue and I need help.
My Safari continually crashes if I use it for more than 10 mins as well as on certain sites. My keyboard lag has returned. How can I fix this?

The other possibility is that your system is infected by the flashback trojan, as one symptom is odd plug-ins for programs you don't use. If you have OS X 10.6 or 10.7, you should do an Apple Software Update to address it. This Apple note has more: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5244

Keyboard lag with 2.0 software on 3g

sometimes im getting keyboard lag in text messages...its pretty irritating...anyone else? do they plan to fix that in an update?

Yeah, big 2.0 problem it looks like. Bugs the **** out of me. I had the 1st gen iPhone, and updated to 2.0 firmware, and right after that I noticed this problem. The next day, I bought an iPhone 3G, hoping to not see the bug, but it's on my 3G just as it was on my 1st gen. Really driving me nuts. I do a lot of texting while watching video on my iPhone during the day, so the lockups are just out of hand for me. This does make me a little more weary about purchasing Apple's products.

Keyboard lag with three-finger drag enabled

I've noticed since enabling three-finger drag (same behavior on built-in MBP trackpad and Magic Trackpad) that keyboard entry has become a bit glitchy. I've experienced at least three quirks:
(1) in any program, highlighting text and then typing new text in its place will often "eat" the first several letters typed, or even the surrounding text;
(2) in Microsoft Word or TextEdit, the first few keystrokes after highlighting text and then typing new text in its place will be ignored, meaning that one has to re-type;
(3) in Microsoft Word or TextEdit, ⌘+letter combinations, especially involving the left ⌘ key, have to be triggered several times to register in the system.
Any methods to correct, mitigate, or work around this irritating behavior? Thanks!

I have three fingers left-right set to Navigate not Dragging and can't duplicate what you're seeing ...
(I'm using the Magic Trackpad and a Wireless Keyboard - both Bluetooth obviously)

Basic troubleshooting steps in the following order.
1. Reset. Press and hold both Power and Home Buttons together till Apple Logo appears.
2. Restore to a backup.
3. Backup, Restore in iTunes and setup as new.

Can't unbrick 3GS after upgrading to iOS5.1.1

i cannot unbrick my 3GS after upgrading to iOS5.1.1 it is not giving me an option to factory reset. When i hook up with iTunes to unbrick it after 3-4 mion it says there is no SIM card please insert SIM and SIM card is inside phone which i was using before upgrading iOS. please help

Assuming you're still using Telus, I'd say take it into their shop and get a fresh replacement SIM. If it wasn't hacked or jailbroken, that's the most likely explanation. I realize you've tried different ones, but it's worth a shot.
You might want to try putting it in DFU mode and restoring again as well. If those things don't work, it's probably time for a trip to the Apple Store to have it looked at.

Satellite C660 - Keyboard lag and BIOS update will not install

Hi All
Have Satellite C660 with keyboard lag issue tried to update Bios but after downloading Bios from Toshiba web site and running the intaller a message says the Bios already installed is a newer version and the install with now cancel.
Can anyone help?

I have exactly the same problem. I bought Satellite C660 8 months ago and the keyboard started to play up about 2 months after. I tried Fn - F11 and it worked. However, the problem reappeared and was worse. Tried the same trick with Fn - F11 but it made the problem worse.
I've tried BIOS update as most suggested. But it kept giving me error message that it was unable to update. My computer was automatically restarted though. The BIOS version that currently installed is 1.80. I also have Windows 7 reinstalled, but didn't solve the problem either.
Any help would be great.......

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

IOS 7.1 keyboard lag on iPhone 4S

Updated my software to 7.1 last night, this morning I now have a keyboard lag.
Tried the obvious off and on, closed all apps, searched the net and followed steps of similar problems with the initial iOS7 update, turning off docs in iCloud, Reset all settings.
None of the above are working yet social media and other are praising the new update of fixing their iPhone 4/4S bugs and lag, why has mine got worse and how do I fix it?

My keyboard lag doesn't go away even though I restored from backup two times, once from iTunes and once from iCloud, removed any keyboard shortcuts, resetted keyboard dictionary and all thing you'd imagine and find from the forums! I'm very frustrated with you, Apple.
The only thing that takes the lag away is disabling iCloud Documents & Data. It doesn't help to switch that option off for all the apps, it doesn't help to switch off using mobile data for D&D, The whole thing has to be off. Now I figure that's a huge problem in the iOS7, not any of the apps that make use of that feature.
Please, Apple staff, respond to this! It's unacceptable that I can't use iCloud sync with my iWork suite on my iPhone 4S without waiting 5 or more seconds every 15s to be able to just type text. The keyboard lag is present in every app.

Keyboard lag

This will pertain to both the first iPhone and the new 3G, both with the 2.0 software: My keyboard lags very badly, almost to the point where I can't even type. So I end up making too many mistakes and then go to delete, and the lag makes me delete too much! Both phones do it, but not all the time, and only with the 2.0 software! Any ideas? Any one else experience this?

I have KB lag terribly; none of the above seems to help at all. Called apple "tech support" to no avail. Although they tell me that I am the first to complain of this problem, they even gave me a new phone bc the problem is "so strange". Glad to see I’m not insane, that others are experiencing the same issues. Anyone hear anything or get any other advice how to solve this issue that is making me want to chuck my phone! lol
ps, clearing cache & cookies helps sometimes but still a pain in the tushy! GRRR

Are you sure it's a 3GS? What is the model number?

Keyboard Lag in Safari

Ever since upgrading to OS X 10.8 and Safari 6, I have had issues with (sometimes severe) keyboard lag in Safari; I have not had this issue in other applications. I have used other browsers (Chrome & Firefox) and not had this issue. It happens in any input field, including the address bar. Worse, it often does not record keystrokes when lagging, so chunks of text are randomly lost. (I am not always looking at the input field when typing; I reference my second monitor, etc.)

Please read this whole message before doing anything. This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Step 1 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.” While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin. Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)? After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it. *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing. Step 2 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. *Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode. Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.
