3GS Powers off continually with recent update

How frustrating..... I recently updated my Iphone 3GS with the latest update/firmware from Apple and evetrytime I am in my mail app the phone just shuts down by itself and I need to restart the thing again? Its happened all day so far and now I'm just fed up. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Yes this started happening with the 3.1.3 update it usually takes a few seconds after turning the phone on and hitting disregard for the correct percentage to be displayed

My iMac wont turn off after the recent update

Just installed the recent update couple nights ago (did the update at night, ended up going to bed before it finished). And this morning tried to turn on my iMac and it just goes to the Apple logo with the loading bar screen. After a minute it shuts itself off.
I've tried to command-option-p-r it, that didn't work.
I don't have a disk to reformat it with (the "press C" option).
I have also tried the "press shift" option - doesn't work
My dang serial number on the bottom of the screen has a scratch through it so I'm not too sure what the first couple letter/numbers are... But I did take a picture of it anyways.
I've unplugged my external hard drive to see if it would start without it.
im not to sure what other options are; ive tried calling Apple support but they need my serial number. Which I can't even start it up to get the information.

PROBLEM WITH RECENT UPDATE TRIGGERING IPADS STUCK IN RECOVERY MODE PROBLEM

I am wondering how many other ipad owners are having a problem getting their device out of the recovery mode after the recent update? I have been in contact with the Apple Express service and been assisted in taking my ipad through the restore process 3 times, and it hasn't worked.
The last advisor told me that if that last restore process did not work it meant my ipad would need to be shipped off for service. I have noticed a number of others posting about this problem in the last week, however. Is there an anticipated fix for this issue? Or, do we all need to send our devices in?
I feel I have received cheerful customer service from some very patient Apple reps, but see any solutions for the problem being offered. In addition to the inconvenience of shipping my ipad for repair, I am also concerned about my AT&T unlimited data/flat rate subscription being lost in the process. Has anyone resolved this problem, and was it through an offsite repair job?

I bought a refurb ipad 32gb. I have noticed when itunes via wifi fails to do an app update, it screws the whole ios; thereby forcing ipad to go into recovery mode. I thought Apple learned the hard way not to allow one app to bring down the whole os!! This is the 5th time an app caused this. last time Apple forced me to reinstall Itunes, wasted 2 hrs.
I worked hard saving up enough funds to get an iPad. Yes, i even paid Applecare too. If this can be fixed, I want a replacement or a full refund.

Has anyone noticed a decrease in AME speed with recent updates?

Hi everybody,
I have been searching the forums for estimated times of exports/imports/etc... with AME using AVCHD footage and exporting to H.264, MPEG 4 and Quicktime and general slow-downs in Adobe Media Encoder.
It seems as though my rendering has gotten slower and slower over the last two months and the only thing that I am aware which has changed is updates to the software, which doesn't really make sense.
I use a Dell Precision M6400 with 8 GBs of RAM, Vista 64 bit, Quad Core Extreme Q9300 @2.53ghz and Adobe CS4 Master Collection which I upgraded to from CS 2 in Jan 2009.
I love CS4 overall, AME is the only program which slightly irks me simply because it seems that the renders can go unbearably slow at time for no obvious reason.
Right now I am trying to render out a 20 minutes AVCHD 60i anamorphic project that has about 400 clips ranging between 30 seconds and two minutes to MPEG 2 DVD and it takes about 20 minutes to load in AME and almost 5 hours to render.
I took a simpler sequence of 3 minutes with Magic Bullet looks applied to it and rendered to 360x240 H.264 file and it took almost 2 hours to render...that can't be right!
I don't remember it being this slow before? Am I wrong? Is that expected?
What I'd really appreciate is if someone has some benchmarks that I can render out to, to see if I am experiencing an actual slow render or it just is the length of time expected.
I am hoping that CS5 is released next month and then I am going to do a full wipedown of my computer and install Windows 7 64 bit and the CS 5 suite, but until then I am trying to keep "old betsy" running and making money so I can afford to do so.
I have all recent updates as of today.
Any suggestions?

Your information is sketchy and meanders. You may have several issues but with the lack of information it's going to be 20 questions. So how were you downloading the update? Software Update or direct from Apple web site? Today's issues need more clarification.

Problem with recent update (1.6.0_19-b04)

Since the recent update to the Java installation (yesterday morning), my application started having problems when trying to unmarshall (JAXB) a XML file I'm using, and now I get the following exception:

It also broke my application which is using JAXB
The way JAXB behaved before is if you for example have a field of type int, and an invalid int value in input file, JAXB would invoke a setter with a value of 0, and now it will throw an exception it would of course stop processing of whole file.
Interestingly, with type of Integer, old behavior if still kept - (setter is invoked with a null value in case of invalid input)

So what do the 3GS users ACTUALLY get with this update!!??

X1 Carbon 20A7 Trackpad issues with recent update?!

So I got a recent update on the 30th November 2014 in regards to updating the synaptics software and some other optional updates. Since then, after the updates, my trackpad has been acting up. I can't use it as smoothly as I was just a week ago. When I'm trying to drag files from the right to left and vice versa its super slow and gets stuck. Is there an updatre fix for this. It's getting quite annoying actually.

this seems to have caused uneven lighting in the LED display, very strange problem. You may need to get warranty service on it.

ITUNES AUTOMATICALLY OPENING AT WILL with recent update.

My iTunes programme is opening at will since I installed the most recent update. I know it's Halloween but this is more annoying than spooky!! Anyone else experiencing this today (1 Nov 2013)?

I've done the first few steps successfully, but I run into a problem when I'm required to type in "C:\Program Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info" into the address bar. When typed in, I recieve an error message that says, "Windows can't find C:\Program Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info. Check the spelling and try again." I've directly copy and pasted the exact code in from the help page and it won't work.

Iphone 3gs powers off/shuts off automatically/randomly when using various apps.

Did update recently (about 2-3 weeks ago) and have been experiencing problems with phone automatically shutting down/off in the middle of various apps. I-phone says operating system is Version 4.3.5 (8L1). This random power-off has happened in Safari, Facebook, different games, Words w Friends, mobile newspaper apps, news apps, etc. The only way to get phone back on is to plug it in to power source. This occurs no matter how full or low the battery is charged. Any ideas???

I'd say it was the phone if it's switching it's self off.
If it was just a signal issue then that would be O2, but not if it's turning it's self off. Phone apple to get an appointment at an apple store, they can test it and replace if necc.

Album art not showing up with recent update

With a recent iTunes update (10.2 or 10.2.1) suddenly the album art for a bunch of my music is not being detected anymore. This is album art that I've added to the files myself, and it's music not from iTunes Store. Other music of mine doesn't seem to be affected; it's only the music that I added album art myself. These songs were working just fine before the update, and still work in other programs. I'm having trouble determining specifically just what about the files is upsetting iTunes.

I'm having the same exact problem.
I've been reading up this morning on the different ways to correct this, and none of them work. Here's what I've tried:
- Manually add artwork to the album
- Advanced>Get Album Artwork
On older iTunes I'm getting the impression that you could go to your iPod/iPhone, click MUSIC, and then click something like "Allow/Enable (?) Album Artwork. Not finding it on iTunes 10.

Lost Version Number for Tiger with recent update?

I have a VERY odd problem after the most recent Tiger security update. The version number of the OS is MISSING -- it is not there. As a result, Safari, Photoshop, Illustrator and a ton of other applications will not launch, saying that they need at least 10.4 to run. When I go to the About This Mac dialog, there is literally just a blank space where the version number would be. Any way to fix this besides a reinstall?

I don't know if this is the only file or the critical one, but /system/library/core services/SystemVersion.plist has an OS version number. I warn you though, messing with any system files is tricky and I would definitely back up before doing any editing. I also don't think this is the route to go. Very likely something more is missing as a result of an unsuccessful update and you may end up having to do an archive and install anyway. Have you tried repairing the drive with Disk Utility (the drive, not the permissions)?
If you're determined to go the editing route I would just try replacing that one file with a copy from your backup (you do have one for just this kind of occurrence, don't you?).

Xcb broken with recent update (please help confirm)

I'm a heavy user of xdo but a very recent upgrade upgrade is causing this app to repeat continuously until another key is pressed. The list of packages upgraded have nothing in common with xdo, or more importantly the xcb/xcb-test libraries it uses. I made a very tiny sample app illustrating the problem using the xcb library. Could a couple people who have an up-to-date system please compile/run this app in the console? And also if someone who hasn't upgraded Arch since Jan 7th could also test please.

Trouble with Ati cards - new with recent update.

I have been using Arch for > 3 yrs now and it has been a work horse. I installed it on kids computer over a year ago and has been trouble free. Recently I did a sync and since then the xorg started giving problems.
I have a Ati Radeon 7000 PCI video card on it. It worked with out any trouble till recently. Now it starts ok but every few seconds or so screen goes completely blank and then reappears. Nothing in the logs and no complaints even when I start xinit/startx from command line.
It appears as if monitor connection was loose if I did not know that was not a problem. It is most pronounced when ever there is a lot of screen refresh to do, such as a menu item sprang open a lot of submenus, a new window opened or closed and so on. However this is pretty much disabling because you can;t see anything on the screen for long enough to use it.
I tried changing the driver, installed Catalyst - eventhough catalyst works ok, it's resolution is lower and looks poor ? I tried removing all the usb peripherals and tried one by one with the same problem persisting. Installed a clean Arch on another partition and as soon as radeon driver was installed it started giving same problems. I tried latest puppy and despite installing radeon driver it still worked fine and did not flicker like Arch. However I don't like puppy for this purpose and hope to maintain Arch.
Is there a way of figuring out what causes these flickers and rectify it. I put PCI=nomsi on kernel command line to turn off kernel mode setting. Tried /etc/modprobe.d/radeon.conf with modesetting=off, tried removing stuff off from /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri/*. None of these made much difference.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I kind of solved it for now.
Try " X -configure" to create a new xorg.conf.new file and move it to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf and under the video card section put a
Option "NoAccel" "On"
At the least it is not driving me crazy with blinking and flickering.

That panic was not caused by third-party software. If the problem is recurrent, the possibilities are:
A stale or corrupt kernel cache
A damaged OS X installation
A fault in a peripheral device, if any
Corrupt non-volatile memory (NVRAM)
An internal hardware fault (including incompatible memory)
An obscure bug in OS X
You may already have ruled out some of these.
Rule out #1 by booting in safe mode and then rebooting as usual. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
You can rule out #2 and #3 by reinstalling the OS and testing with non-essential peripherals disconnected and aftermarket expansion cards removed, if applicable. Sometimes a clean reinstallation may solve a problem that isn't solved by reinstalling in place.
Corrupt NVRAM, which rarely causes panics, can be ruled out by resetting it.
If your model has user-replaceable memory, and you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts. Clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket memory must exactly match the technical specifications of the machine.
Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test, if applicable.
In the category of obscure bugs, reports suggest that FileVault may trigger kernel traps under some unknown conditions. Most, though not all, of these reports seem to involve booting from an aftermarket SSD. If those conditions apply to you, try deactivating FileVault.
Connecting more than one display is another reported trigger for OS X bugs.
If your system is not fully up to date, running Software Update might get you a bug fix.
In rare cases, a malformed network packet from a defective router or other network device can cause panics. Such packets could also be sent deliberately by a skillful attacker. This possibility is something to consider if you run a public server that might be the target of such an attack.
Otherwise, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.

i have the iphone 3gs and the update ios6 but for some reason i can not send or recieve pictures from ppl that don't have the iphone or dont have the newest update what can i do to fix it!

Try to do basic troubleshooting, but 9/10 that is actually a service provider issue.
