3GS Speaker Mic problem

I have a mic problem with 3GS 32GB running latest software v3.1.2. It works fine when making calls in standard mode, but the mic does not increase its sensitivity in speaker mode so that people can barely make out my voice. Speech is virtually inaudible speaking at it from just 30cm away. I tested it and there was no difference in mic volume between speaker and standard mode. The mic mesh is clean, and removing the phone cover made no difference, nor did restoring the iPhone or changing the SIM/carrier. I took it to the local Apple retailer and 3 other 3GS phones tested all had the same problem, but a 3G worked fine and calls were easily heard in speaker mode. Is this a problem with all 3GS phones?

I have found it myself. When Skype is running at the back plan, the app is routing sounds to ear speaker. Quitting app, solves the problem. This reply is for whom experience the same problem.

  • Please help! iphone 3gs speaker "hardware problem!!"

Hi, I have used the iphone 1st generation for a long time and I have nearly been using an iphone 3Gs for a year now. The bottom line, I LOVE IT.
Only one problem I have came across 2 months ago.
I have aux support built-in in my car so I plug in the male-male cable to my iphone to listen to my albums. I have no problem with that even now. But 2 months ago, after I unplugged the aux cable and then straight after that when I tried to continue listening to the music(through the speaker) the speaker was "CRACKLING". It lasted like that for about 5 mins, and then it stopped working at all. I tried the plug and unplug method but had no luck.
Although my iphone is still under warranty, I can't send this device to vodafone as I am currently in Korea ( for business for a year ). I would send them to them but I have to pay my own courier. I know I can fix it as long as I know which part to replace.
If anybody has an idea which part is faulty (no guesses please) please advise.
Thank you for reading my messy post.

Was the person who fixed it an authorized Apple service center? No? Seems to me he didn't know what he was doing from what you have told us here.  That pretty much explanis it

  • Speaker / Mic problems on Intel iMac

My problem punch list on my new 20 inch iMac. I have owned an iMac G4 and a Powerbook for many years.
    - Volume keys on keyboard lock up randomly. Have to unplug keyboard and replug to get them to work again, then they lock up again soon.
-Won't recognize new RSL external speakers. Not indicated at all in Sound output.
-Won't recognize USB mic that I use on my other macs for Skype even when both Skype and Sound Preferences identify the mic and are set to it.
-iTunes won't play a song when USB headset is attached. When headset unplugged music will start and then when USB headset is reattached, it will play through it.
-If starting a new song, must repeat the same procedure to get it to play.
Anyone have any idea what inside the mac causes all of these sound problems?

Ok, Maybe this might help. I received my new Intel iMac two days ago. After I set it up I hooked up my 1st gen sound stick. Everything work great the first day. The second day I couldn't get any sound to come out of the sound stick speakers. Switch usb ports and rebooted several times and got them to work. Today the same thing. Call Apple Support and explained the problem. Support had me set up a user account. Didnot work. The last thing support ask me to do was to delete the Cache from the User Folder. Once I rebooted the speakers work fine even after mulitple reboots and shutting the computer down. So maybe you may have to do the same thing

  • Help needed with HTC One regarding mic problem with noise cancellation

I picked up an HTC One last week, and so far I am loving the phone.  Great build quality, screen, sound - all as advertised.
However, there is one very annoying problem I am having.  When I am talking to someone, I can gear them great, but they keep telling me I sound muffled or robotic.  I performed some tests, and the problem appears to be something with the dual microphones and the HTC One's noise cancellation features.
Here are the tests I ran:
Typical phone call, with holding the phone as I normally do on the sides and to my ear.  Call result, pretty muffled voice.  I'd give the call quality a 5/10.
Help the phone as I typically do, but covered the mic hole on the back of the phone.  This definatelyimproved call quality.  Was louder and clearer, but not perfect.  I'd rate it at 8/10.
Help the phone towards the bottom, using my hand to kind of cup the bottom directing the sound to the bottom mic.  This was a further improvement in sound quality.  Rating would be 9/10.
Help phone as normal, but covered the bottom mic hole.  Very low volume and muffled sound.  Rating a 4/10.
Talked directly into the bottom of the phone into the bottom mic.  This gave perfect call quality and volume.  Rating a 10/10!
Talked directly into the mic on the back of the phone. Horrible quality, couldn't hear hardly anything. Rating 0/10.
Speaker phone on, held the phone up and moved it around as I would normally use a speaker phone.  Call quality was really nice.  Id give it 9/10.
Speaker phone on, covered back mic hole and used speaker phone as in #7.  Very bad quality, rating 1/10 for call quality.
Speaker phone on, covered bottom mic and help speaker phone in hand.  Really good quality, even an improvement over test #7.  Would give the call quality a 9.5/10.
Speaker phone on, placed face down on table.  Volume a bit low, a little muffled.  Call quality 6/10.
Speaker phone on, place face up on table.  A bit worse than test #10, low volume and a bit muffled.  Call quality is 5/10.
Based on these tests, I know this problem has nothing to do with the network CDMA connection.  It is obvious that the noise cancellation features are a bit too aggressive, or I have some hardware problem with one or both mics.
I question wether its really a hardware mic problem, because on non-speaker phone calls, talking directly into the bottom mic gives great quality.  And on Speaker phone, covering the bottom mic makes the speaker phone sound really good.  That's why I think there's something going on with the "Sense Sound" noise cancellation.
Is anyone else seeing the same issues?  I want to be able to hold the phone normal on a non speaker phone call and get good quality.
Looking for any tips and advice anyone can give.  Is it worth exchanging for a new one, as I am still in my 14 day window.
Thanks in advance for the help!

  • Mic problem & warrenty issue .

    Hiii
I have iPhone 4S which is having mic problem i guess.During voice calls the call receiver at other end unable to hear my voice on handset mode but on speaker mode he can hear my voice.
Also wanted to know in which country my phones warrenty is valid .
    iPhone4S
    Model: MD241LL/A
    Serial No.: DNPHN0Z3DTD6

    Hi Alankar,
Make sure your iPhone case is not covering the mic. It is on the bottom to the right or left of the connector. Have you tried a call without a case on the phone?
Your Model Number indicates that this is a US phone, so the warranty would be valid in the US.
    Cheers,

  • After I updated the latest iso 6.0.1 my speaker is  problem

After I updated the latest iso 6.0.1 my speaker is  problem.
Only the upper one and all the rest is working  good ( loud speaker and headset).
Just only the one I put on the ear.
    Please help !!!!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Mic problems with all boards thread! What do we do to fix this or do we need a new boa

I have come the conclusion that this is not just a mic problem but a uni'versal line in problem since several devices can be connected thru my SoundBlaster Li've! 24-bit line in port. I'm assuming its a software problem and it seems to be a common problem. The second possibilty is that part of the board is either defected or assembled incorrectly. Either way everyone seems to have made sure that:
    A. there drivers are up to date.
    B. they have dissabled any other audio device in windows or in BIOS.
    C. there mic won't work no matter what port they attempt.
    D. creative software changes of audio devices and mixer still don't change anything.
I came on here for answers yet all i find is questions.
And all seem to be pretty similar. There are many other posts pertaining individual audio cards, yet they all have the same problem. If your having the same problem post here and keep this thread ali've, if you have an answer to your own problems you'd like to share post it here. Hoping for a Creative response to either my post or one of the many other posts on the same subject.Message Edited by syferus on 09-23-2005 0:30 AM

If you have a PCI-GPIB card, you needn't worry about the USB port or whether or not Windows ME supports 1394. All you need in NI-488.2 version 1.70 from National Instruments. Install this driver and then insert your card. Windows should detect the card and find the proper driver.
If this did not happen in the proper sequence, look in the device manager and see if the card was installed as an "other device". If this happens, remove the card in the device manager and have windows redetect it. If this is not a solution, you may consider the ask an engineer page at www.ni.com/ask. Provide as many details as possible.

When I want to make a phonecall with my iphone5, I hear absolutely nothing....no ringing and no talking when connection established. When I make the same call but now on speaker, no problem or what so ever, can anyone help me ?

    Hello there, RobenCaatje.
The following Knowledge Base article is specific for the issue you're describing:
iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1630
    Specifically:
    Resolution
Verify that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack, including headsets, headphones, or adapters.
Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is not switched to silent.
While on the Home screen, adjust the volume buttons. If you see the icon below, indicating that headphones are attached, there may be debris or an object lodged in the headset jack:
Check the headset jack. If there is an object lodged in the headset jack that is not easily removed, have the iPhone serviced to remove object.
For Original iPhone: If there is light debris, such as lint, in the headset jack, try connecting a pair of headphones to the headset jack and then remove the headphones. Repeat this several times to remove the debris.
If you have installed a protective film on the display, either ensure that the receiver is not covered or remove the film completely.
Check the receiver mesh (which is on the top front of the device, above the display). If it appears blocked, use a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush to carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If you have paired with a Bluetooth headset that is nearby, either use the headset or turn Bluetooth off (chooseSettings > General > Bluetooth).
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting the iPhone doesn't resolve the issue, try restoring the device.
If the issue persists, go to the Service Answer Center - iPhone for information on service.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

  • Get wax out of iPhone 3gs speaker?

i have acidently poured candle wax into my iPhone 3gs speaker!
I have used a pin and the like to get it out from where I can see, but I am pretty sure it is also somehwere else in the system, because I have to press it on loud speaker every call I make.
Where would I get help fromm an expert in Sydney, Australia?
    How do I fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

Not an easy fix. Search for a third-party repair shop where you live. Apple doesn't fix stuff like this, but they will swap your phone for US $149.

  • Audigy 2 ZS/ Teamspeak/ Mic Problems/ SOL

I gather from other posts im not the first and probably not the last to have problems with my SB card and Teamspeak Mic function, after MANY painful hours of reading this forum, downloading drivers, reinstalling software and countless tweaks to my SB mixer and Teamspeak options I finally got my Mic to work right. Hopefully my pain will help someone one else, I was ready to give up on my Mic/SB card ever working right till I stumbled on what appears to be the fix to to Mic problem, I made so many changes I will list them all as Im not sure that it isnt the combination of any or all things that made it work,
My set up, front Mic and Headphone jack on computer,
-Go to SB mixer function, above the first volume knob is a red arrow, click on it, it will say digital only output, SELECT this option, turn volume up
-reading left to right on the middle part of the mixer, turn the function ON the first 3, turn off the the following 3.
    - the 6th funtion should be set to microphone, click on red arrow above mic picture and turn on mic boost function.
-Teamspeak setting, go to options screen select "wave" sound, click ok and adjust in and out volumes on settings panel.
This did it for me, I went from no mic, to fuzzy mic, to crystal clear mic after playing with things for 2 days.
I have new faith in my SB card and hope others are smarter than me and figure it out with out all the research good luck.

In the Creative Mixer on the right hand side you should see a separate column with a "Rec" heading. There should be a small upside-down triangle. Click on that and you should get a list. Choose "Analog Mix" which includes Microphone, Line-In, etc. Then to the left, un-mute the source you want.

    Happy New Year to all.
I have installed 2 ZS card. Output works well. I want to record a couple of old vinyl albums. I cant either through Creative Surround mixer or through windows get either a Line-in or microphone input to select from. I have tried everything but this forum. If anybody has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Eric
