3gs v 2.1 buletooth

I just got a new 3gs iphone (v2.1 bluetooth) and am trying to use it in my '09 Nissan Murano with factory Nav/Bluetooth/etc., however, the car does will not recognize the phone ("No phone avaulable" message)-- The car does still recognizes my 3g iphone (v 2.0 bluetooth) that I have been using very successfully since Dec of 2008. Is there a fix so that I can use my new 3gs in my car? Or have I screwed up buying a new 3gs iphone?

Yes, I've cleared (several times now) both iphone and car system-- the car was paired to both a Nokia and a 3g iphone before-- it's just the 3gs (3.1.3 & v2.1 bluetooth) that it doesn't see. I've tried the 3g and Nokia again also and no problem there-- just the 3gs/Nissan that doesn't work

  • Video out from iPhone 3GS to TV.

Can I use the standard (3 phono plugs on the end) video out lead I already have to view keynote presentations from my iPhone 3GS on my TV/Projector?

    Same problem here.
I can't get any video out of my faithful iPhone 3GS running iOS 6.xx.
I have been browsing Apple discussions for solutions and most of them seem to point out to a faulty Video Composite cable. This is not my case.
I can rule that out 100%.
Old iPhone 3G running ios 3.1.2 works just fine as well as does iPhone 4, with the same cable.
I have tried with a friend's TV and cable and iPhone 3GS and we have identical issues.
(different cables and phones, same issue).
Please note all testing has been done with genuine Apple Video composite cables.
So this points out clearly to a iphone iOS issue combined with hardware.
It appears that starting from iOS > 5.0 video output has been disabled on earlier iPhone models prior to 4.
It would be nice if Apple could issue a Knowledge Base document on the issue as that would save many people further testing and waste of time.
This document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4108? isn't really complete enough as it stops at iphone 4.
Has anybody the ultimate answer on this issue?
    Are there any known work-arounds?
    Thanks and regards
    Pieter

  • Cannot access my Iphone 3gs after upgrading to 5.01

    Hi,
I bought an unlocked Iphone 16BG 3Gs from eBay. I used it for a week
TillI connected my Iphone to ITunes and they notify me I needed to upgrade my
    Software and I accept.
That was the mistake I made as it upgraded to 5.01 and I cannot access
myphone. When I put on my phone I am getting the activation screen. I try completing the activation but with no success. When I connect my phone to USB and start Itunes I am getting error message
"There is no Sim card installed in the Iphone your are attempting to
    activate"
I tired the following with no success.
Itried downgrading from 5.01 to 4.33 by downloading firmware from google.  Holding shift button and clicking restore onITunes, selecting the firmware but I am getting error message" Iphone“Iphone” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3194)
I also tried using RedSn0w program and Tiny Umbrella and no luck at all.
    Please help.
    Thanksyou,
    Charles.

Is the SIM that is installed from the carrier the device is locked to?
Was the device hacked or jailbroken?  Possibly to unlock the device?

  • TS1538 I cannot sync my iPhone 3GS after upgrading to a new computer and installing iTunes

i am trying to sync my iPhone 3GS to a new computer. I downloaded and installed iTunes and copied over the iTunes folder into My Music. Unfortunately iTunes on the new computer does not recognize my iPhone.
    - The old computer was running windows XP OS 32bit. My new computer is running Windows 7, 64 bit.
    - I have installed iTunes on the new computer. Windows OS recognizes the iPhone but iTunes does not. I have uninstalled and reinstall iTunes a few times now. On one reinstall, i recieved the following messages:  "an iPhone has been detected, but it could not be identified. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPhone, then try again".  Upon trying again, i recieved this message: "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an invalid response was received from the device".
every other time, nothing happens other that Windows prompting that the iPhone is detected. Any suggestions appreciated.
    thanks, Singletrack200

Made a new folder and that solved my problem

  • I have a 5 yr. old iPhone 3GS, I can't back it up to my laptop, it's not working, but wondered if i can back it up to her laptop, if I create a new user account name, w/out losing her info?

My 5+ yr. old iPhone 3GS is on it's last legs. I desperatly need to "back it up" ASAP, so I can buy a new iPhone, and I really need to be able to transfer my 5 years worth of info to a new iPhone, (a 4S). The computer I used to back my iPhone on when I first got it no longer works, so I was wondering about being able to back my iPhone up to my daughters laptop, but she also has an iPhone 3GS, that's already backed up to her laptop. I know you couldnt back up two iPhones up to one computer, (at least that's what I was told, years ago), but I was recently told by an "Apple" rep that I could "probably" back my iPhone up to her computer without losing anyone's info, if I created a "Secondary User Name Account" on her computer. I'm not comfortble doing this unless I'm reassured more than being told that it's "probably" safe.
Does anyone know what options I have, and if this idea would result in one or both of us losing our info, if we tried to store two iPhones "back up info" on one laptop?
My phone's barely working at all, but I can still access my info, (for now, at least). I really need to do something now.
Could anyone who knows how this works please give me some info?
    Thanks in advance.

First, you don't have a 5+ year old 3GS. The 3GS has only been around for under 4 years. In fact, 5 years ago there were NO iPhones; the original iPhone (2 generations before the 3GS) came out on June 29, 2007 - not quite 5 years ago. The 3GS was released June 19, 2009.
That aside, you can sync multiple phones to one computer - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495. boogeyman is wrong. It is 100% safe to create an additional user name on her computer, log in with that name, and back up the phone. See this for details on what you want to do: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109

  • Can you actually buy a 3GS in Ireland?

I'm starting to believe that the iPhone 3GS is just a myth here in Ireland. I've been trying to buy a pay-as-you-go 32GB black model since June without success. Last year, I tried to buy a 3G from June up until December and couldn't get one then either. Out of stock, out of stock, out of stock...
There are two suppliers in Ireland: o2 and Carphone Warehouse. With o2, the 32GB model is listed as "out of stock" for all but the most expensive plan (iPhone 700). Carphone Warehouse have no information at all about iPhone availability on their website - apparently, you're supposed to individually check with each of their local stores.
Unlike o2, however, Carphone Warehouse do provide a contact phone number on their website. I've just spent the last hour on hold with them, only to be informed by what sounded like a prerecorded message that there was no one available to take my call because the building had just been evacuated. I kid you not.
You can't contact o2 except via webmail. Which they just ignore. I find it astonishing that companies in the business of getting people to talk to each other make it impossible for you to talk to them.
I've got €800 burning a hole in my pocket right now. I would like it to go to Apple, but if their sales agents in this benighted country are so intent on choking off the iPhone supply I may have no option but to look at other smartphones.
I'll give it till the end of this month. After that, I've had enough of this nonsense.

Thanks for the advice, Dave. I'm sorry but I don't buy the supply/demand mismatch theory in this case. It may have been true for the first couple of years of the iPhone's life but I very much doubt that it's true today, unless Apple is now being managed by morons.
I've just rechecked the o2 webshop and found that I can buy any model of the 3G for any tariff and for pay-as-you-go. Even my two brain cells tell me that this means that o2 originally didn't believe the G3 would sell well, were subsequently overwhelmed by the demand, and overstocked it when it was much too late and the 3GS was on its way.
To shift this outdated stock, they're restricting 3GS sales to their most expensive tariff. Essentially, o2 don't give two hoots for Apple's interests - they don't care about selling the iPhone, they only care about selling their own products.
Sometimes I think what this country needs is another Famine...

  • 3GS doesnt recognise sim. Status switches between 'no sim' or 'searching' ? If it does find the network it only keeps it for a minute or two.  Please any suggestions welcome.

  • ITunes 10.6.1.7 wont see iPad 2 or 3gs both 5.1 on Windows 7/64

I just bought an ipad2 and I updated to iTunes 10.6.1.7 before attaching to my pc. Itunes wont see the ipad or now my 3gs that it use to have no issue seeing. My windows vista pc/itunes sees both iphone/ipad fine so it must be this pc or itunes. I also tried different cables and usb ports with no change. I updated the vista pc to the 10.6.1.7 iTunes and it sees both ipad/iphone fine.
Why doesnt my windows 7/64bit pc see anything all of a sudden?
How do I fix this? Do I really have to uninstall/reinstall iTunes? Will I lose all my data and backups?
    Thanks

  • IPhone 3gs will no longer sync to iTunes on Windows 7 x64

My iPhone 3gs worked fine up until the last 2 updates. Ever since then, the iphone is not even recognized by iTunes. When I go under "devices" in the advanced settings I can see the backup for my phone. Why can't it recognize a phone that it's already recognized? I installed the latest 10.4 and still it's not recognized. I know the computer sees it as it's listed as "started" and "automatic" under services in the admin tools. I've pretty much tried every work around I can think of or seen online and nothing has worked at all. Really have no idea what to do next.
If anyone has any idea how to resolve this issue, I would greatly appreciate it! My setup is below:
    Windows 7 pro x64
    iTunes 10.4
    iphone 3gs
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Ok! So I just came across this randomly in another thread from user Kempas (thanks a lot!). It totally fixed the problem so I thought I'd repost it!

Ok, I'm assuming everyone who is having trouble with Windows 7 (64-bit? mine is) has tried the following solution I found over at en.kioskea.net posted by a guy called Steve78545 (hey, you got to give a dude his due).
It's maybe because Windows 7 uses a MTP driver instead of the USBAAPL by default, and what you need is an 'Apple Mobile Device USB Driver' which you might not have in 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' (check it and see). If you haven't got it, as good ol' Steve78545 suggested:
Update the driver by expanding 'Portable Devices' from the list, right click Apple iPhone/iPhone and select 'Update Driver Software'. Then select 'Browse My computer...'
Copy the following path and paste it in - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers - then hit 'Next'.
Let the thing do it's...thing an it should work. At least it did for me, so I hope it helps a few people out!

  • I upgraded from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 6.  Everything converted fine until I deleted an app in error.  When I downloaded it from iTunes, my account is no longer recognized by the app's host servers.  Can I go back and re-sync one app from my old phone?

I upgraded from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 6.  Everything converted fine.  Yesterday I deleted an app in error.  When I downloaded the software it from iTunes ( did this many times on the old 3GS), my account is no longer recognized by the app's host servers (Playtika), even though it did after the initial conversion.  Can I go back and re-sync just one app from my old phone?

Try deleting what is called the iPod Photo Cache.

  • My iPhone 3Gs is now no longer a recognised device on iTunes after I downloaded the new iTunes with iCloud software, but it does recognise my iPad2??

My iPhone 3Gs is now no longer a recognised device on iTunes after I downloaded the new iTunes with iCloud software, but it does recognise my iPad2??
I run both Mac and a PC and have iTunes on both, which has previously recognised my iPhone. I had updated my Mac with the new iTunes software with iCloud and updated my iPad2 just yesterday. I then wanted to do the same with my iPhone today, but my Mac wouldn't recognise the device so I tried it on my PC, which recognised the phone but told me I needed to update my iTunes and this in turn wanted to update my iPhone software. After completing all this and restarting, my iPhone now shows the iTunes icon with the USB plug pointing towards it, obviously wanting me to plug it in to my computer to re-connect with iTunes, but now neither of my computers recognise my iPhone and my PC states an 'Unknown Device'. My Mac doesn't even see it. Can anyone help as I really need to get my phone working?? Thanks

Hold down the Home and Power button for 20 seconds. And try to update again.

  • IPhone 3GS no longer recognized in iTunes and does not charge via wall

I upgraded my iMac to iTunes 9.2 when it came out.
My wife then upgraded her iPhone 3GS to iOS4.
Since then it is not recognized in iTunes and does not charge via the wall adapter.
I realize this topic crosses over with several ongoing discussions, but there are no 3rd party peripherals involved here.
The only major changes to our set up have been the itunes and iOS upgrades.
The battery is running down, any ideas to fix this, or other similar experiences welcome.

Went to the Apple store and they replaced the cable.

  • HELP! iPhone 3GS stuck in recovery loop and iTunes gives error message" iPod update server can not be contacted"

As I said, it's an iPhone 3GS (never jailbroken), iOS 4.1, PowerPC G4 OS X 10.4.11, iTunes 9.2. I have had the phone since new, never had any issues with it and am at my wits end trying to figure it out. I have seen many different solutions to this exact problem, but none have worked for me. Anyone have any ideas?

This is what I posted to someone else having an update issue... Just for your information:
I having the same issue about the and iTunes says "The iPhone cannot be  restored at this time because the iPhone software update server could  not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable.". I've had the  iPhone  3GS since it came out. It was working fine until I just tried to  update  it. It has NEVER been hacked or jailbroken. WE AND A FEW OTHERS are  having  the same issue then it is more than likely that this is an  update issue.  I took mine to the Apple store and the tech tried to  update it and he came to the same problem and told me he couldn't  update it. My assumption is that we are not the only one's with this  issue and that if  there was a way to update it to the update before  this last one it  might be a solution. I don't know how to get the  previous update. Apple  probably is aware of the problem, and hasn't  come up with a solution yet. Or, enough people haven't complained yet.  The tech suggested that  there might be something wrong with the phone  itself, but that couldn't  be since it was working perfectly before I  updated it and others are  having the same issue. It is highly unlikely  that a lot of people are having the same hardware issue all of a  sudden at the same time. Apple/iTunes needs to fix this... and hopefully soon
Also:  I can update or restore my iPhone 5 and other iPhones so it is not an  issue with my firewall or other software on my computer. No one touches  my iPhone or my computer they are secure, locked all the time, and I  have no jailbreak software on my computer (Apple tried it and they are  clueless at the moment from what I can tell).

  • Can't recover 3GS after IOS5 upgrade attempt - phone no longer seen in iTunes

Tried upgrade on 3GS to IOS5, got msg that iTunes detected phone in recovery mode and I must restore. iTunes no longer sees the phone so restore doesn't work. Win XP sees the phone driver when I connect the phone, and driver says it is working properly. Have went through the entire support topic "iPhone not appearing in iTunes" and found no problem.  Rebooted computer 3 times and tried all USB ports -  iTunes still doesn't see the phone. Any ideas on how to recover this phone?

my problem occurred when I upgraded to IOS5 on my iPhone 4.  I received an unable to sync message that indicated that there was no space left on my iPhone; and a "Other" Capacity indicator appeared on the bottom of the iPhone device sync screen (in yellow color) and noted an overage of 12GB!  Ofcourse, prior to the upgrade I actually had 6GB free on my 32GB iPhone.  So, there is a bug.  The following link indicates a few solutions and hopefully it will answer your concern.  The link is http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1503
However, I had to restore as the first two solutions didn't work.  Furthermore, about 3.3GB of "Other" remains while I synced up.  Clearly, the problem has not been resolved.  Apple owes me and you community members a patch to fix this bug.  Basically, I have spent about two hours fixing this and I still cannot use 3.3GB of my iPhone space.
