Try pressing and holding the on/off and home buttons simultaneously for about 15 seconds or so. Hopefully you will see the Apple logo and it will restart. If not follow this link: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/itunes/

  • 1st Gen iPod touch not charge and not recognized by iTunes

I bought 1st gen iPod touch without cable.  It won't charge or be recognized by iTunes.  Purchased a new 1st gen cable, but still doesn't work.  Do I still have the wrong cable, or is there another problem?

Did the sell say it was working?
Per the Apple store, the current dock-to-USB cable can be used with all iPod Touches.

  • IPad 3rd gen no longer charges unless shut off and not recognized by iTunes

iPad 3rd gen no longer charges unless shut off and not recognized by iTunes.  Done 2 resets, used original charger and cable and bought brand new charger and cable from Apple store.  Nothing works.  This started yapping after the iOS 7.1.1 update.

Common troubleshooting is to try a different USB port and to give your ipad a reset. (hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot)
You can also try on a different computer to see if it's the ipad or the computer.
When you charge, do you try to charge plugged into the wall? that's the best way to charge.
If you go through all that and it's still not working hten it may be time to make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out

  • IPod stuck in "do not disconnect" and NOT recognized by iTunes

  • TS1538 iPod Touch with blank screen that doesn't shut off and not recognized by iTunes?

I opened the app "MyTown 2", and it stayed on the opening screen for about 5 minutes - WAYYY too long! So I tried to close the app. A slight grayscale sort of film "slid" down over the opening screen, and then it went to this light gray, completely blank screen. It's been that way for over an hour - no matter what I do, can't do a hard shut down, and the device is not recognized by iTunes at all. It's completely DEAD!!!! Is there any hope? Anyone have a clue?

Following the instructions in this procedure to the letter. Here they are, with emphasis on some easily overlooked requirements:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPod Touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Select the device in iTunes and choose "restore from backup".
If you still can't get it to work, you have done all you can and only Apple will be able to help.

  • My phone is no longer charging and not turning on.

    Good days guys,
Just need your expertise on this.
Few weeks ago, I was charging my phone iPhone 4S on my computer through USB and the metal side of the phone accidentaly hit a metal stand that has a ground in it. The phone sparked as soon as it hit the metal like a spark on a welding machine and after that, the phone completely shut down. No longer turing on and not charging when plugged. I also noticed that while I tried to charge the phone the phone gets insanely hot at the back and I can feel it on the metal side.
Is there a chance for this phone to be repaired?
Thanks for your advise in advance!

At Apple Store battery replacement is $80, or Replacement iPhone 4S is $199. Try battery replacement, if still problem, replace iPhone charging port assembly with lower mic and home button flex connector, if still problem, logic board is damaged which may be a very difficult repair.

  • My Mid 2012 13" Macbook Pro is not charging and not recognizing the A/C adapter.  Is there anything I can do?

The light on the A/C adapter does not turn on when I plug it into the macbook pro.  I tried resetting the SMC, but the Macbook Pro still does not recognize the charger.  Is the charging port broken? Is there anything I can do to fix it before finally taking it in to the Genius Bar? I have also tried using multiple chargers so I know there is no problem with the charger.  Will it cost a lot as my macbook is three months out of warranty?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you have got a different charger, try plugging it to the Mac and see if it charges. Also, check that your charger (the one you have got now) light appears in orange or green when you plug it in. If it doesn't turn on, it's possible that the charger is not working correctly.
I recommend you to take the Mac and the charger to an Apple Store or reseller. If the problem is the charger, the repair will be cheap, but if the problem is the logic board or the battery connector, it may be expensive

  • IPhone 3G no longer charges?  Not recognized by computer? Win 7

Last night my iPhone 3G stopped being recognized by my laptop. I can only charge it with the USB wall charger which ***** because now I can't restore or put music on my phone anymore.  This is. Second hand 3G but the same thing happened to my old iPhone.
I am running firmware 4.2.1.  My iTunes is up to date and I'm on windows 7.
Any ideas?  This problem is one of the main reasons why I bought another iPhone

I'm afraid that the link is somewhat irrelevant to my problem.
The problem is, that nothing happens whatsoever, when I connect my iphone to my computer. No charge, no nothing.
I connected my fiances iphone to my computer and it charged, and itunes recognized it without any problem.
However, I did try what the link suggested and nothing worked

  • IPhone 3g won't turn on, and not recognized by iTunes after erase/reset

My iPhone G3 (with the latest 4.0.1 software) was acting up so I decided to do an erase/restore to see if it helped the problems.
I did a reset/erase everything through the phone OS now all I get is the Apple start screen, and the phone does not start up. When I plug connect it to my computer the iPhone is not recognized.
    Clueless!! Any help?

See if you can force the phone into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. Select restore as new, follow by syncing your itunes content.

  • Brand new iPhone 4 frozen and not recognized by iTunes

I got a replacement for my iPhone 4 today and it got disconnected while i was putting my old backup on the device, Now it is stuck on the apple with a loading bar and is not recognized when i plug it into iTunes?

As AM_Kidd says, but I would do the Reset while connected to Wall Charger, and hold both buttons for at least 20 seconds. If this does not work. And you decide to Restore the Firmware. Then.
Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer. Hold both Home and Power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. This usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Then Restore the Firmware.

  • Ipod not working ... and not recognized by itunes suddenly

Sorry if you see this mail somewhere else. The 'new post' was not showing.
I cannot seem to start a new thread. There is no 'new topic' at the top of my screen. So, I am going add this this thread as its the close to my problem
My ipod, one day suddenly, stopped working. Today I have updated my itunes, restore and updated the ipod (supposedly, but I doubt it since I still seem to have songs on my ipod).

I really help ... four hours of trying uploading and trying disconnest is doing my head in and I need to turn off my computer this evening. If anyone can create a new topic with this mail ... I would be obliged. This is not my day.
BTW - I have had my ipod for 8 months with no problem. It just stopped working and now this 'do not disconnect'

  • New iPod shuffle won't stay on, charge, and not recognized by computer

My daughter won a new iPod Shuffle that as far as we know has never been opened/used till today.  We have iTunes downloaded and working on our computer.  But when plugging in iPod via provided USB cable, the computer (and I've tried two different ones) will not recognize anything is plugged in.  Also, I don't even think the iPod is working at all.  The amber light only comes on for one second when turned on/plugged in, then goes off.  I know the USB ports I've tried to use it with are adequate (i.e. fast/powerful enough) because they are the main USB ports of the computers (no hubs or dual ports) and they work with other Apple products just fine (including other iPods), so that can't be the problem.  Help?!  She's so disappointed.

I have exactly the same problem with both my ipod shuffles. That suggests to me that it is a problem with the ipods rather than my PC or computer software. I'm surprised that no Apple tech has suggested a solution yet.

  • I am locked out of purchasing anything but I need to purchase iTunes Match because my iPod will no longer charge and I need to save my music somehow.

    Help me.

    Hi,
Purchasing match will not solve your problem. Your music needs to be in your iTunes library on your computer. Read this https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
