3GS won't connect to WiFi since updating to iOS6
3GS won't connect to WiFi since updating to iOS6.
If the problem is only your home WiFi do the following:
Reboot your router by removing all power from it for about 30 seconds
If that doesn't fix it on the phone go to settings/general/reset - Reset network settings

I reviewed another post on the support community that initally appeared to cover this topic. That question was replied to, and the person was referred to apple support pages that detail how to get one's iphone to link with wifi (turn off device, reboot router, go to iphone settings->wifi->click "i" next to your problem network and select "forget this network").... How do I select "forget this network"- it's not even an option (maybe it would be IF I could get the iPhone to connect to the network, but then I wouldn't need this question answered...)
I have multiple other computers (Macbook Air, iMac 2011, and PCs), as well as new iPad (also recently updated to iOS7) and my wife's iPhone 4S (running iOS6), all of which have no problem connecting to our networks (and no access passwords have been changed). Only my iPhone 5 seems to be left out in the cold. The iPhone 5 "finds" the networks, but will not accept correct access passwords as "correct", therefore cannot actually connect to password-secured wi-fi networks (at least the two I use daily- therefore I assume this problem would follow me elsewhere I might attempt to access a PW-protected network such as WPA/WPA2, etc).
Any ideas where to turn next, or is anyone else having similar problems? Thank you-Hi, Troy5.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Sometimes a simple power cycle of the router can correct the issue that you are experiencing. However, the issue could be a little more complex. Wi-Fi routers need adjustments to settings periodically for optimized performance with the constant progression of wireless device technology. Below, I have included two articles. The first article will cover basic Wi-Fi troubleshooting regarding iOS device connection. The second article cover the recommended settings for current Wi-Fi access points.

Won't connect to wifi after updating to ios 6.1.2
Updated my Ipad mini to ios 6.1.2 and now it won't connect to my wifi network. All other devices connect. Tried resetting network settings. Tried hold the home and power button until reset. Tried restoring.
Thoughts???????It sees the network. As far as the router goes, I'm staying at a hotel right now not sure if they will reboot just for me. Everything worked fine yesterday after the update but this morning no luck.

Won't connect to WIFI after updating to ISO 07?
I just updated my software on my iphone 4 to ISO 0.7(whatever the new one is) and it won't connect to my wifi. It just keeps trying to connect but never does. When I connected it to my computer it asks if i "trust this computer" yes or no. I say yes and still doesn't connect. This is making me so mad and eating away at my data because I need to use my internet on my phone. Please help someone.
If the problem is only your home WiFi do the following:

I updated my Iphone 5 four days ago and now I cannot connect to WiFi at home. My wife has the same phone, we bought them the same day 9 months ago. She has not updated her phone and she gets great WiFi at our house. What did the update do to my phone?? How do I get back on my WiFi?? I'm not updating my wife's phone until this is all fixed.

It worked for about 5 mins every 40 mins up until 12 hours after updating the software. The wifi is greyed out (can't turn on or off) now, and I am becoming rather frustrated with this as I have been without internet for at least a week now, with my work relying heavily upon internet access. Any help would be great, I have done the hard reset, a normal shut-down, and I have restored my iPhone twice now and still no change. ANY help would be fantastic!
I'm having the exact same problem! However, mine hasn't worked at all even after resetting network settings, restoring phone from back up and as a new iPhone, drained the battery and turned the phone on and off. I am really angry because apple released an update yesterday to fix bugs specifically on iPhone 4S and it has done nothing. My idea would be to book an appointment with your local apple store. I have one on Saturday and hopefully they will replace the phone as I am still under warranty. If you're not still under warranty I think it'll cost you some money, which ***** because its apples fault.

Cannot connect to itunes since update to ios6
I upgraded to ios 6 and have read through all the issues everyone is having just like mine, however I have more issues.
as my subject says I cannot connect to itunes, I have tired the jump ahead a year, and it loaded the featured and genius and charts, but i can not see my purchased or updates.
in Safari there are a number of sites that will not load such as barnes and noble. I had the nook app on my ipad 2 and was reading a book when suddenly it quit and the book flat out dissapeared. i decided to reinstall that but I can not get back into barnes and noble or onto the itunes to reinstall the app to see if it can work. at this point my ipad 2 is currently a nice paper wieght and could soon become a frisbie. I want it to work, or I want to go back a step. I need to upgrade my Imac to the newest one, because currently i cant upgrade the apps i have there, and quite frankly im afraid that it will be yet another headache with things not working. I love apple but this is getting to be to much. it was supposed to be less of a headache than pc. (right?)
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do, other than what has already been written,
I also did the reset.
I forgot my network and reset it.
one of my mail apps is not updating, i got rid of that, brought it back and its still not working
my wifi is perfect. i just need help.
thank youGo to Settings -> WiFi
Touch the blue arrow to the right of your network name. This will bring up the network details.
To the value in the DNS field add the text: ,8.8.8.8
If you are using DHCP this action may need to be redone if a new IP address is assigned.
Note that this should not be necessary. The value in this field should be the Local network address of your router - something like 192.168.1.1. Normally your router should pass any DNS requests to the DNS server your ISP provides. If you are having DNS problems your ISP should correct this.
FYI a DNS server translates symbolic network addresses like www.apple.com to numeric IP addresses. You can see that if this isn't working correctly that you will have problems getting to anywhere on the Internet. -
My iphone won't connect to my home wifi. It say's connected but when i try and go online it say's unable to connect. I've tried forgetting the network, turning wifi off and on. The ip address is ok and my laptop connects ok.
Has anyone got any ideas about how i can fix it?I am having the same issues as GirlyGirl. Every other day or so my iPhone 3GS won't connect to wifi. Before I was showing the wifi signal as if it were attached but I couldn't surf Safari. Now even though under the wifi settings it shows I'm connected, I don't get the wifi fan showing I'm connected. I've done the following:
Renewed lease
Forgotten network
Reset Network Settings
Reboot my iPhone
Two days ago when I rebooted the router and Reset Network Settings it started working correctly.
I've been working with my internet provider, they tell me my firmware on my 2wire is up to date & the issue is definitely with my iPhone.
Security Settings: WPA-PSK (TKIP) and WPA2-PSK (AES)
My iPhone is attaching to the 169.x IP Address and the Subnet is 255.255.0.0. The router, DNS and Search Domains are blank.
Also to note, I changed the name of my device through the gateway router so I could identify it more easily. As of today it had defaulted back to the old name which is the ip address. Even if I don't change anything it isn't keeping those settings.
Other than restarting my router and taking everything down for 15 minutes each time, what else can I try? -

IOS devices and Exchange won't connect over Wifi
Neither my ipad nor my iphone 5 will connect with my exchange server over my wifi network. The problem is limited to IOS devices on wifi and Exchange. The phone will connect with exchange over the cellular network. My windows laptop works fine over wifi with exchange and everything else. The ipad and iphone will connect to wifi and have no problems with web browsing, gmail, etc. I've used both devices successfully for months and the problem started yesterday. I did not do any IOS updates yesterday.
iPad and iPhone are both on IOS 7.0.4
The message on the screen: Cannot Get Mail. Server error. Contact your server administrator.
It also says: Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed.
What I've tried:
Resetting network settings (only tried on iPad, since it didn't work)
Powering off each device then turning back on
Powered down the wireless router and powered back up
Confirmed with the exhange hosting company (GoDaddy) that they've made no changesSome things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.
