3hr 38min mp3 file only opens as 16mins 44secs!?

Hi folks
I'm new to the forum having only just registered.
I use Audition 1.0 at work.
Recently I have been recording 3 to 4 hour audio sessions initially to VHS LP then recorded to Tascam DR100 then transfered to PC.
The trouble I am encountering is as follows:
- the transfered file to the PC is around 500MB @ mp3 320kbps 32-bit stereo
- the PC recognises the file at 500MB and the duration as 3 - 4 hours
- when opened in Audition the file is only recognised at around 16 mins long?
Any idea guys?
I have searched through forums trying to find a answer to help me resolve the issue. If I open the file in Quick Time it recognises and plays the entire 3 - 4 hour file.

When that file is decoded into a Wav file, which it has to be to open in Audition, it will be way bigger than the max Wav file limit. Players don't have a problem with this because they don't decode the file, but stream it. You'd need an MP3 file splitter to break this file into a number of smaller ones before you could open it correctly.

You can try right clicking on one of your xls files select get info then select open with, select other then choose office excel and check the box to say always open this file type.

My updated help file only opens the TOC/Index/Search

I have to update an old project that uses WinHelp, so I installed RH X5 on an old XP machine. The original help file always opened in a 2-pane window with the ToC on the left and the default topic on the right. My "updated" help file only opens the ToC/Index/Search screen in a single pane. How do I get the 2-pane window to appear?

When tranferring a file, only Open or Save are displayed, no Decline option

Hi - Using Lync 2013 client connecting to Lync 2013 server. When transferring a file in a chat window only Open or Save are displayed, not the Accept, Save-As or Decline options shown in the literature. I'm thinking this might be due to
the rollup version - any comments?

Muvo Slim download mp3 files only but not playing!

i just bought this Muvo Slim with 256MB memory.. if i plugged it on my computer it can be opened and still can download files.. but once you remove it from the computer, it wont open.. even the opening logo nor the the blue backlight won't open!, it started acting this way right after i plugged it on my friends mp3 (not creative) player.. it has a USB output connector, and 5volts output which is the voltage as a regular USB provides!.. can this still be fixed?.. cause i did tried loading the uograded firmware, and it did recognize the player, but when disconnected to the computer it just went blank!.. need help here! thanks!

On Linux you need proper GStreamer support to play mp3 files with the HTML5 media player.

.cer files only open in notes

I have a new N95 and am trying to install a .cer file but it will only open in Notes on the phone. I am on a mac so do not have the Nokia pc connection program. However the .cer file is showing on my phone memory card but will not install.

SWF file only opens in Player, not Application

I am new to Flash and I am working on updating a website that was created by co-workers in 2009. I was not here when it was created and those people are no longer here to help me out. The website is www.vintageresidential.com. I am simply trying to update a few of the photos in the flash file that plays on a few of the pages. We recently upgraded from CS2 to CS5.5 and I am working on a PC. When I try to open the SWF file in the Flash Application, it only lets me play it through the player and I'm not granted access to any of the editing tools(see image). I recently found a photoshop file where it looks like they created the animation, but I'm confused how they saved it as an SWF file.

An .swf is a compiled Flash flash file. It can't be opened in Flash. There are a number of Flash decompilers available that you can use to get into that file if you really need to. Do you not have the original .fla file that was used to create the .swf?
There is no direct way to export from Photoshop to a Flash .swf. You can import Photoshop layers into a Flash movie, though I don't think that you could do that in Flash CS2.

JPG file only opens in Photoshop

I have a jpg file that was created with Photoshop CS4 which will not open in any other picture viewer that I can find. This picture is high res and needs to remain so.
Can anyone cite known reasons for this phenomenon?

Leon - it's possible that the image is too large for other viewers, or that it is CMYK (that most JPEG viewers don't handle), or that it contains more metadata than other viewers can handle....

INX file only opens in Dreamweaver as code

My client just sent me an INX file done on his PC in CS4 and when I get the file on my end and download it it switches over to an .xml file. I work on a Mac with CS3. Just wondering if the issue is with the Mac/PC or if it is something else. Client did mention that they could not find the links to their file. So maybe that's the problem. Any help would be great. Clicks and pops when QuickTime plays mp3 files in Safari

When I use Safari to play a mp3 file which opens with Quicktime in a new window, the playback is full of tiny clicks and pops. It sounds like there is a conversion (from 44,1kHz to 48kHz) problem, but I don't know how to be sure - or how to change settings to avoid this. It happens with streaming mp3 files from everywhere (not only a single website).
Anybody else experiencing this?

I can play the same files with any other app sans click, including QT player itself when it's not inside Safari

ITunes 10.6.3 not importing mp3 files but will play the mp3 files

I recently updated my iTunes to v10.6.3 on my mac. However, I cant seem to add new music to my iTunes library. Dropping and dragging doesnt work even though the '+' curser appears and importing music using command + O doesnt work either. There is no indication of the music being analysed or anything.
However, when I click on an mp3 file it opens and plays in iTunes but will not be added to the library. If I click on the mp3 file again from finder, it will play in iTunes from the last point..
Does anyone have any ideas of wrong? Its frustrating me because I need to sync music to my iPhone and I cant

Ye playing the file should automatically add it to iTunes but its not since I updated iTunes.
The music plays and I can see the the time bar in the window on the top of iTunes but the file is not located in the iTunes library or anywhere in iTunes so I cant right click it.
At the moment the mp3 file is on my desktop. Normally dropping and dragging it into iTunes adds it into my 'iTunes' folder in the 'Music' folder.. but this is not happening. I've tried manually adding the file into the 'iTunes' folder using the appropriate folder titles etc.. but iTunes will not detect the new mp3's. Wierd!!
I think I might just have to re-install iTunes

Bug Report: use of Stock Music app causes Droid X to stop recognizing MP3 files

Here's an interesting one:
At some point within the last week or so, not sure how exactly when, I noticed my phone suddenly stopped playing any MP3 files. Ringtones. Music. All stopped working. When I'd try to play an MP3 file by opening it in either Ringdroid or Astro, my Droid X displayed an error that the audio file type was not supported. Rebooting the phone fixed the issue. The unit was able once again to play audio, but would stop again a short time later. What could be causing this?
My wife and I have identical Droid Xs. I use the Music app and she does not. She has not yet lost any audio capabilities on her device. Based on this, I downloaded the DoubleTwist player and have been using it regularly for 3 days.
My DroidX played all audio files without a problem. It retained all ringtones and notifications and played any MP3 file on demand.
I switched back to using the Music player to play 1 file. Within an hour, my phone had once again failed to recognize MP3 files and had to be rebooted.
Is there a workaround for this?
And will the MotoRizon engineers be fixing this in the rumored forthcoming patch?

Problem saving mp3 files from the internet

I'm having problems saving mp3's from internet sites. Whenever i find an mp3 which I wanna download, and I press the ctrl button as choose "save as", it oly saves as an internet link file ( called something like web.archive) does anyone have an idea how i solve this problem? Another thing is if i click the mp3 file it opens in quicktime, but there is no save as options..

No that is not the problem, it works with windows and I have done it before, just not with a mac
