3rd gen iPod Touch won't sync my music with my iTunes

I have an iPod Touch 3rd generation. It runs 5.1.1 iOS. I have iTunes for Windows 7 Ultimate. I am currently updating to 11.4. Over a year ago, my songs stopped syncing with my iTunes, so if I made a change to a song title or something on my iPod, or downloaded or assigned some artwork to a song or album, it wouldn't auto-sync on my iPod. At the time, I just accepted it and made every adjustment twice. I am quite the detail oriented geek about my music and metadata. It views on my dashboard SYNC in my Ford Truck and I like it to be accurate because it also allows me to navigate my iPod via my voice while driving. I would prefer not to wipe my iPod Touch and start from scratch. I would like to figure out how to reestablish the link between my songs on my iPod and my iTunes. I know there will be many that I will need to manually reconnect, and I am up to the task. So, what do I do? Someone please come to my rescue. ;-)
Joshua
p.s. If any of you apple geniuses out there need any more specific technical data to help me, if you can, please just ask and I'll provide it quickly. Thanks, so much.

All I can suggest, besides updating iTunes, is to restore the iPod. First from backup and if necessary to factory settings/new iPod.

  • 3rd gen Ipod Touch won't sync/show in Itunes after 10.4.08 update

On Saturday (7/30) I updated to ITunes 10.4.08 and updated to 4.3.5 (8L1) on my touch. It worked fine and synced properly after it d/l'd. Later in the day I plugged my Touch back into my computer and it wouldn't sync or show in ITunes. No error's or anything, just wont show and Touch is working as it should. All my USB ports are working fine and are charging my Touch. I've uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes two more times since then only to have the same problems happen. It will sync and show once, but after I disconnect and then reconnect, it will not show/sync again. If someone can help it would be greatly appreciated!!

Small update.....I took my Touch to the Genius Bar yesterday, told them about the issue and they just gave me a new Touch. That's awesome and all, but I still have the problem. I guess it's on my computers end but what I don't understand is why does it work once, then never again?? Help?!?!?

  • Friend's 3rd gen ipod touch won't turn on

My friend bought a 3rd gen iPod touch off of ebay and it won't turn on or charge. What could be the problem with it?

Try a hard reset and go from there.

my ipod touch is not syncing new musid from my itunes. when i click on my ipod it only shows one song.

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod

  • HT1386 4th gen iPod touch won't sync to iTunes

I connected it to add recently downloaded songs to my iPod. Itunes said it couldn't recognize the device and that I had to restore it, so I did. It wiped everything clean, but now it won't sync my music or photos onto it. I press "sync" and iTunes says it is going through the process, but nothing changes on the iPod. Both iTunes and the iPod are up to date, I have tried multiple USB cords. I don't know what else to do.

Di dyou restore the iPose via iTunes on this computer/iTunes library?

    Can Anyone help??

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.
To more easily find compatible apps
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.

  • 3rd gen ipod touch will not sync having done so on coutless occassions and now it just does 1 phase of sync

I have a 3rd gen 8gb ipod touch when I try to sync it it goes through phase one of the sync and then says sync complete, changing nothing on the ipod
if I reset my Ipod and it wipes everything off and then it still wont sync I will have a worthlerss ipod no tune or apps on it

I have checked for latest updates but there are none i had the errors wrong they are actually:
"Attempting to copy to the disc "iPod touch" failed. An error occurred while writing to the device."
"iTunes could not copy "song name" to the iPod "iPod name" because an unknown error occurred (-20)."
the strange thing is i am allowed to take things off because i had some voice recordings and they got transferred into iTunes but its just copying onto the device that is the problem i also checked my Anti-Virus software and it hasn't blocked iTunes or anything associated with Apple. i will also check my computer's manufacturing website for updates.

If the computer recognizes the unit, restore. If not, you may have a hardware issue--like a bad battery or logic board.

  • My 3rd Gen iPod Touch won't update to iOS 5

I'm trying to update my iPod from iOS 4.2 to 5 but I can't seem to get it. For the past week I've been having problems with my iPod, mainly none of the apps I bought, that did not come on, it will not open. I've been told that iOS 5 is compatible with the 3rd generation iTouch but it isn't working for me. Any help?

    What happens when you try?
Are you sure it is a 3rd gen?
If it is 8GB, then it is a sceond gen.

  • My 2nd gen iPod Touch won't sync with itunes

windows recognizes it- but itunes says "unknown error (0xE8000065)" everytime it's plugged into the USB. I seriously can't figure this one out.

  • My ipod touch won't sync to music

I try to plug my ipod touch in my computer to sync music I had recently added to my itunes library but it doesn't show up in itunes or it won't sync but my ipod touch will charge.....

  • My 5th Gen iPod Touch will not sync after I updated my iTunes

Right after I updated my iTunes on my PC, it will no longer sync anything. My apps, my music, everything won't sync.
It just says that I can't sync because I need more space (8.30GB to be exact). But before I updated my iTunes, everything was fine. The thing is I want my iTunes and iPod to synchronize with each other without losing anything.
    Can someone help me?
Also, my OS is already iOs 7.1

Do you have the right boxes checked to sync? It appears not.

  • Ipod touch won't sync checked music or tv shows after somehow being removed

I got my ipod touch at Christmas and it probably hasn't had as much use as most. I didn't want all the songs on my itunes library on my ipod, so I went with the manual syncing and only put on checked songs. I also had 2 tv shows put on. At one point I bought 2 songs directly onto the ipod. I then tried to get them onto my computer and make a playlist which included them and then get that playlist onto my ipod. That was my first time trying to get a playlist on the ipod. I couldn't get it to work. My husband may have played with it. Anyways, recently I noticed that my tv shows are gone and my entire song list other than the one playlist I had created and tried to get on. I can not get anything to sync on to the ipod. I have tried turning it all the way off, restarting the computer. It says syncing for two seconds on the computer and ipod, but nothing changes.

I would try restoreing the iPod to factoery defaults/new iPod and try again.

  • Help please.... My 3rd gen Ipod Touch will not sync up to Itunes....

It keeps bringing up a window that is recognizing the Ipod as a camera and starting Camera wizard.  I followed the troubleshooting steps - I have the updated ITunes version, I have restarted, I have switched USB ports.... The last step is to reinstall Itunes, but I am afraid I will lose all of my recent music that I have uploaded from CDs (& spent hours doing!)

Reinstalling iTunes will not do anything to your music/iTunes library. However, you should always backup your important files.
iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive
I would remove and reinstall all the Apple software using:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

  • My 3rd gen iPod touch won't let me buy albums just tracks.

When I go on iTunes and try to buy an album the price button doesn't work but the individual track buttons do. Any ideas I bought an album yesterday by buying each track indidually thinking I would be charged the album price. I was wrong. Can't afford to buy whole albums that way.
Was fine up until this weekend

I have too much in my library also, so I choose to sync only selected playlists, videos and applications.
However, if you want to do it the hard way, be sure to check "Manually manage music and videos" in the summary pane.
