3rd generation nano right half of screen is white

I just bought my 1st nano last week, I went to turn it on and the righ half of the screen went white then it went back to a full screen view w/ no problem. Now it's doing it again. I've restored it and it still does it?? Help!!!! (could it be a glitch in the system??)

Whoops sorry, you can't do that as you do not have a mac. Then bring it to the Apple store and have them take a look at it.

  • 3rd Generation Nano only gets Apple logo on main screen need a full reset?

Was just given a 3rd generation nano for one of my kids.  I cannot seem to unlock it (apple logo only on screen).  Need to reset.  When I hold down menu and center button, it just goes back to apple logo.  Am I out of luck?

Try manually forcing the iPod into disk mode using the instructions in this Apple support document and restoring it in iTunes.

  • 3rd generation nano entire contents of ipod not showing up..

3rd generation nano entire contents of ipod not showing up, itunes says to restore, however I am pretty certain this erases all contents. Is there anyway to retrieve the seemingly lost content, what do I do? I have had little to no prior issues with this product and have not recently updated my itunes. Please help!

    Hey there,
A file or some files may have become corrupt somehow during connecting or disconnecting the unit. Try putting it into Disk Mode and see if that helps. To put it into Disk Mode, hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears. When it does, immediately press and hold the Center an Play/Pause buttons until you see a confirmation that your iPod has been put into Disk Mode.
If you are able to do this, it may be a good idea to restore the iPod to its original settings. Keep in mind that by doing this you are erasing all the music and files from your iPod so make sure they are backed up on your computer somewhere. More on restoring your iPod can be found in the Apple document below.
    Hope this helps.

  • 3rd Generation Nano playing songs slow with static.

I have a 3rd generation Nano and I have noticed that it has been songs a bit weird lately. It is not every song but rather every few songs. What happens is the song slows down with some static too. I equate to a record playing on a slower speed than it should. I am not quite sure what is going on...please help.

The songs were purchased from iTunes therefore I do not believe that they are corrupt. May I ask how a song can be corrupted?

  • Nike+ compatible with 3rd Generation Nano

Hello ...I have been using Nike+ on my 2nd Generation Nano for just over a year with no problems ...unexpectedly I have got my hands on a 3rd Generation Nano ...my question is can I use the same Nike+ kit with the 3rd Generation Nano? ...or have the Nike+ kits been updated therefore meaning I'd have to buy a new one?

There are a couple of different model numbers out on the packaging from nike and apple.
With that said, both will work. There should not be any problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • 3rd generation nano hates certain songs!

I am sure that this question has been posted before but - here it goes. It seems that my 3rd generation nano randomly stops playing musical tracks for no apparent reason. A song will be playing and before the song is over nano stops the tack and proceeds to the next. Whether I am shuffling songs, playing an album - whatever, it just randomly cuts a track short.
I have tried restoring it to no avail.
Any wisdom or advice out there???
    Thanks so much!

  • My 3rd generation ipod got a blank screen

my 3rd generation ipod has a blank screen

i think ipods are generally set to enable disc mode, so you can use it as a storage device, by default (if yours isnt, plug your ipod in, and go into options to select enable disc mode). just connect the ipod with whatever cord it came with to your computer, then look into the m.. is it called "my harddrive" or "harddrive"? and you should see the ipod connected there on the left side of the window with "network" and "music" etc. if you click on the ipod icon, you can drag and drop files into your ipod just as you would any other folder and use it as a harddrive.
the tricky thing is using it for both pc and mac. i think if its formatted for a pc, you can use it on both macs and pcs. but if you have it formatted for a mac, then only macs can read it.
so if you want to use it on your friends pc as well, format your ipod on a pc first so you can use it on both platforms.

  • 3rd generation nano frozen and won't reset

I have a 3rd generation nano, that is about 3 weeks old. It is frozen and it won't reset. I've reset before with no problem, but for some reason it won't reset anymore. Any tips?

I've successfully reverted to 1.0.1 using information in the Mac OS thread. Go to:
http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1213. It has all the guidance you need to revert to 1.0.1. Below is part of my recent post within that thread.
"I downloaded the two 1.0.1 files (iPod_26.1.0.1.ipsw" and "iPod_26.1.0.1.ipsw.signature) provided on this thread by "Alain Claude Cl..." (http://discussions.apple.com/profile.jspa?userID=1036653). Many thanks Alain. I followed his instructions, also in this thread, for installing them. I also found the posts from "sottil" (http://discussions.apple.com/profile.jspa?userID=1033843 ) to be extremely helpful.
Thanks to everyone in the thread who kept this topic going. Until Apple gets its act together and issues 1.0.3 or 1.0.2.1 or whatever, the only solution is to revert to 1.0.1 following the guidance in this thread.

  • I need an earphone lanyard for my 3rd generation nano.  Will the lanyard for the 1st generation nano fit my 3rd generation nano?

I need an earphone lanyard for my 3rd generation nano.  Have searched the internet and cannot find one.  Can find one for the 1st generation nano.  Does anyone know whether or not the lanyard for the 1st will also work on my 3rd? If not where I can purchase a 3rd generation lanyard?  Thanks for everyones help!

You aren't required to do so. You can choose not to use the speaker dock or you can return the Nano.

  • Is there a battery recall on 3rd Generation Nanos?

Is there a battery recall on the 3rd generation Nano? Mine's 9 months old, will play video for 35 minutes with full charge (from full depletion). It doesn't get much use, I heard that could cause problems also.

There is no recall but they do need to be "exercised", with a charge cycle at least monthly.
It is still in warranty, send it in or make a Genius Bar appointment at your closest Apple Store.

  • My 3rd generation Nanos screen is blank white - help

I have reset and restored my 3rd generation ipod nano due to a blank white screen.  despite multiple attempts the problem persists.  Any ideas on how to correct this problem?

    Hi,
Recently i also got this flashing question mark error. The apple told me that its an Internal HD error.
Well how common is that with the macbook ?
The apple did changed my Internal HD ( for free). New one - Hitachi. I also have backup on my External HDD where the latest backup was 2 weeks before my Intenal HD crashed.
Is it safe to do the system restore completely on my new internal HD without causing any new problems ? As i have heard that the complete system restore can give lot of trouble.
And one more question, after getting repair, am I eligible to apply for Apple Care protection Plan ?
My warranty expires on 26th January 2010.
    Thank you
    Milan

  • 3rd generation nano has no picture on screen

My daughter's 3rd gen nano suddenly shows a white screen.  It plays music just fine, but finding songs/albums using a click wheel without a visual reference makes things very challenging.  Any ideas how to resolve this?

    Hey Car44,
This is most likely happening because the video is not in a compatible format.
+Video formats supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats+ http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
You can try importing the video in to iTunes and then converting it as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1211

  • What happened to clicker/headphones in the 3rd generation Nano?

In previous models I've set the clicker setting to headphones. This way I was able to operate the iPod without looking at the screen, even with sound isolating headphones.
In the new Nano the only options are on and off, in both settings I am unable to use the click wheel without looking at the screen.
    Am I missing something here?
    Thanks.

I'd also like to know what happened to this option in the 3rd gen nano. In Settings > Clicker, the options are now "Turn Off Sound While Scrolling" and "Play Sound While Scrolling", where the click is audible only through the iPod's speaker and not the headphones.
In the mini, 1st and 2nd generation nano, Settings > Clicker gave you the options of "Turn Off Sound While Scrilling", "Play Click Through Speaker", and "Play Click Through Headphones".
I just don't see much point in the clicker being played through the external speaker: if you're using the iPod surely you've got headphones in your ears! And not having audible feedback for menus through the headphones just makes it that much harder to use the ClickWheel. I hope that a software update restores this missing feature!

  • 3rd generation Nano - Sony CDX-GT410U

    I have just purchased a 3rd generation 8GB Nano.
This works fine until I connect it to my Sony CDX-GT410U car radio via the usb port.
Nothing, the radio displays 'No Dev' or 'Not supported'
My 2nd generation Nano works perfectly with said car radio.
What is going on Apple. You can't tell me that a newer version of the Nano isn't compatible with the CDX-GT410U.

    Hey!
    Try to restore the iPod!
    I hope that should help!
    Good luck!
