3rd party cookies in safari

A web site owner wants to include my .Net web site in an iframe on their site. My site is on a different domain and so current security restrictions in Safari prevent my site from loading because it uses cookies for the .Net sessions.
The parent site must use an iframe to include my site and I cannot change my site to not use cookies, so the problem is, how do I get my site to load in the iframe on Safari?
The only solution I have been able to think of so far is to get the parent site to request a file from my site outside of the iframe when the parent site loads. I can then use this request to set a cookie in the user's browser before they go to the iframe. This means that when my site loads in the iframe, a 3rd party cookie will already exist and my site will load.
Is there a better/alternative way of doing this?
Thanks.

sadly... i couldn't find other workaround than making a new subdomain of the main domain.
i have abc.com that embed def.com in an iframe. the only workaround so far is make a new subdomain def.abc.com and map that as a CNAME to def.com.
when i call the page in iframe, i call def.abc.com, which matches the same domain, thus cookies can be read or written.
this becomes a problem with you have a lot of different websites to embed, and not all site owners care to do binding of the new host on their webserver.

  • Safari allows 3rd party cookies and all cookies even when prefernces are set to "never allow" with Mac os 10.6.8

safari ALWAYS allows 3rd party cookies and all cookies even when set to "block cookies: always" and "from 3rd party and advertisers."  I have removed the website data, emptied the cache, reset safari, erased the history and it STILL dumps cookies.  (For example, if I go to the usgov weather website only I end up with 11 cookies, the top one being "addthis.com" listed as cashed in local storage.  But didn't I just empty the cache... multiple times??? Is my Safari application "broken" or "corrupt."  Can the application be renewed so that it actually does what it is commanded to do?

    Not using any extensions, Andy.
Allowed a guest account and tested that.  Lots of cache/cookies showed up for my "guest" that on face value, appeared 3rd party:  the familiar "addthis.com" cache and others including a facebook cache and I did not, nor have ever, participated in facebook. But it could be that the "trusted" site my virtual guest visited had a relationship with facebook such that my COMPUTER "friended" facebook even though my guest and I most certainly would have declined the invitation :-)  But what I really don't get is why washington post cookies keep showing up every single time.  Isn't that the absolute definition of 3rd party cookies?!
    forgive my rant.
On the other hand, when I logged out as guest, all data was automatically deleted, and when I relogged in as guest, it appeared that all the data, including cached data, had indeed been deleted.  But when I relogged in as myself, the same old garbage reappeared in the cache and cookie bin. The fact is, there appears to be no such thing as truly and completely emptying ones cache, resetting ones browser, or deleting ones cookies. They are here to stay.
(And, oh yes, I have tried logging out, turning off and on the computer right after performing emptying tasks, etc.)

  • When will firefox stop supporting 3rd party cookies by default much like Safari does now?

Safari by default doesn't accept 3rd party cookies and there have been reports that Firefox will follow suit. Any information in terms of the timeline as to when this will come into effect would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,

You will probably see the change to only allow third-party cookies from visited sites in Firefox 26 (currently on the Aurora update channel).

  • Can safari 5.1.5 accommodate a single 3rd party cookie

My on line bank bill paying  has suddenly, with no notification, started requiring 3rd party cookies to access their bill paying page.  I cannot find any way to accommodate this in either Safari (with cookie manager), nor Firefox 12. If this cannot be done it is serious enuff of an issue that I am considering changing banks.
    Thanks

Carolyn:  Thanks for your reply.  I probably did not express the true nature of the issue.  I have been using  the banks on line "bill paying" page  with the  "block cookies from third parties etc" checked.  Apparently the bank outsourced this page either to a 3rd party or configured their server differently, and now in order to gain access to that page I have to check the "Never" box, which is totally unacceptable to me.
What would be a solution  apparently is not available in Safari or "Safari cookie manager".  I would like to be able to "enable" this 3rd party cookie for this site only.  I do not want to leave Safair "open" to ALL 3rd party cookies.

  • Cookies turned off and cleared, but 3rd party cookies are still being shared after Firefox v16.0.1 update

after firefox updated from v15.0.1 to v16.0.1 on Friday (10/19/12), collusion v0.22 shows 3rd party cookies being shared, and a lot of them. I have firefox in "always use private browsing mode", with cookies not allowed, in addition there are no entries in "exception" or in "show cookies". The check boxes for cookies and 3rd party cookies are NOT checked.
This behavior never happened before the update!
I re-installed v15.0.1, but it is still happening.
Rana full sys scan with the latest Norton Security, which found nothing. Tried a few others too, so I'm semi-certain that my system is not infected.
System: Acer 5251-1245 with windows 7 (current patch levels up to date).
What changed with v16.0.1 update? Did Collusion change?
why are 3rd party cookies being shared, and how is it doing it?
Is there a way to check to see if other browsers have the same issues? e.g. chrome, explorer (yuck!), safari, etc....
I've really liked Firefox, but I am afraid to use it, especially to shop online or any financial stuff (banks, credit card payments, etc.).
Maybe I was better off in blissful ignorance before installing collusion earlier this year, but I only ever saw the 3rd party cookie sharing when I had "cookies" turned on without turning on "Accept third-party cookies".
    Again, what changed?

only add-on extensions are "Collusion v0.22" and "Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon v0.4".
The issue never happened until Friday 10/19/12 after the Firefox v16.0.1 update, and was noticed by me on Saturday while using the Firefox to check my work schedule (which sets only its cookie and does not share, but it did and got me worried).
Still wondering if Collusion updated too, and now I'm seeing new behavior.
I do not want to share cookies, which is why I turn them off, and never turn on "share third party cookies".
Do I need to stop using Firefox? :(

  • Does latest os support 3rd party cook in iPad

I had my iPad 2 upgraded to latest os.will it support 3rd party cookies?

Does your bank have their own app in the store ? And you have Settings > Safari > Accept Cookies set to 'from visited' and Settings > Safari > Private Browsing is set 'off' ?
You could also try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data and see if that makes any difference.

  • How to accept 3rd party cookies and turn off my popup blocker?

All of a sudden I can't get to where I want to go in Safari - the bank helper says to make sure my popup blocker is turned off and that my browser is accepting 3rd party cookies.
I can't seem to get it done in my system preferences - thanks for any help -

Open the Security and Privacy tabs of Safari's preferences(not System Preferences) and change the settings.

  • How can I set Firefox 8.0 to accept 3rd party cookies ONLY from selected sites but NOT from any other sites?

I do not like to accumulate 3rd party cookies and would simply not check the Accept 3rd Party Cookies box in Preferences. BUT in order to use my bank's web page I have to accept 3rd party cookies from a separate site that manages some of their transactions (like paying bills). This means I have to accept 3rd party cookies and then delete them by hand OR I have to check the accept box each time I use the bank's website and then uncheck it when I am done.

Thanks, but that is not what I was trying to do. I do not want to block cookies from a single site. I do not want to block all 3rd party cookies.
What I want to do is ACCEPT 3rd party cookies only from ONE site but NOT from any other site.

  • Changes to 3rd party cookies options are not saved

I want to change Cookies setting to allow 3rd party cookies because an important website that I access
frequently says that my browser (Firefox) does not accept these cookies.
I am following the Firefox Support instructions @
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-and-disable-cookies-website-preferences#w_how-do-i-change-
    cookie-settings
    Select Options > Privacy tab
I change the History setting from "Remember history" to "Use custom setting for history"
"Remember my browsing and download history" is checked
"Remember search and form history" is checked
"Accept cookies from sites" is checked
Accept third-party cookies:" is set to Always and keep until: they expire
There is no Save button so I click OK
I close Options then reselect it and I am back to "Remember history" and there is nothing visible for "Accept
Cookies" and my important website is still won't open.
It is obvious that my Option changes have not been saved. This seems like you have a bug that needs fixing.

Firefox shows "Use custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.
If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".
*"Never Remember History" means that Private Browsing is active and "Always use private browsing mode" gets a checkmark.
Note that if you clear the cookie settings that such changes only apply to new cookies, so you need to clear existing cookies to make Firefox create new cookies.
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.
*Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

  • What line can I add to prefs.js (firefox v22) ensure that 3rd party cookies are allowed?

I'm running a program with selenium and it was working fine, then I updated to firefox version 22 and now its throwing my error saying 3rd party cookies need to be enabled. Is there a line of code I can add to prefs.js in order to ensure that 3rd party cookies are enabled?

Note that current Firefox releases have a new setting to accept third-party cookie from sites that you have visited before.
    *Always : network.cookie.cookieBehavior = 0
    *Never : network.cookie.cookieBehavior = 1
    *Visited: network.cookie.cookieBehavior = 3
    *Block all cookies: network.cookie.cookieBehavior = 2

  • I can not login to a certain account due to an error stating cookie not enabled, however my 3rd party cookies are enabled. How do I correct this?

I can not login to a certain account due to an error stating cookie not enabled, however my 3rd party cookies are enabled. How do I correct this?

    COOKIE_DOMAIN=.hackers
I think this is the problem. .hackers is no valid cookie domain. You have to use something like:
    .xy.ab
    (two points)
I fear it is not possible to correct this easiely. First change the hostname to something allowed e.g. hackers.com
Then open an ldap browser and edit ou=iplanetamplatformservice,ou=services,dc=hackers
There is an entry with an xml. Copy the xml to an editor, search for .hackers, change it to a valid domainname.
Im not sure if a restart of the webserver is necessary here.
Another idea: You could also try to set the cookie domain to solnce.hackers, maybe this is accepted, even if it is not a cookie domain. But I dont know if this works...

  • FIREFOX 3.6.3 FOR MAC 10.4.11 tiger NO 3RD PARTY COOKIE BLOCK

FIREFOX 3.6.3, IDK if this is an update from what I had but it used to be on firefox I could block 3rd party cookies, now, even though I have found directions about how to do it, those choices are not showing up on my computer and so every cookie under the sun is being added and slowing down my computer among other things. i'm using o.s. 10.4.11 TIGER

  • Is blocking 3rd party cookies preventing some icons on sites' menus from showing?

I've noticed a problem in last several Fx versions where certain sites' menus & internal links - don't show icon images (for some).
Like menus on a credit card site, once logged in. Or certain webmail menu icons.
Or HP's community forum - the text editor (to add a question) menu icons - once logged in. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/custom/pa ... .hp.com%2F
It's relatively few sites - but some are important. I also noticed that any icons / images that are a problem in Fx, display in IE 9, though IE settings show 3rd party cookies blocked.
Tried a <u>new, clean</u> profile w/ the Fx install I was using (35.0.1). All the icon images (on sites that previously had problems) seemed to display, as long as "Accept Cookies from site" was checked & 3rd party cookies were allowed.
In the clean profile, disabling 3rd party cookies seemed to cause some icons not to show. But in IE, 3rd party cookies are "supposedly" blocked, & the icons display in it.
Obviously, the problem isn't addons - problem can be <u>reproduced</u> in clean profile.
Also tried a clean Fx install in another folder. Same results as above - as with my old Fx install & a clean profile.

    No.
Missing icons are usually supplied by a font that is downloaded from the server (@font-face) as you might see by little boxes that show the hex code of the characters instead.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
You can check the <b>gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page and make sure that it is set to true (if necessary double-click the line to toggle its value).
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
