3rd Party Drivers - Program installation stalled

I'm trying to install an embroidery program (Bernina) in XP on a macbook pro with boot camp, but somewhere down the process the installation always hangs with a small box generated by installer that says 'Installing 3rd Party drivers'. After this the install program is using 0% CPU indefinitely and only 'End Task' will shut it down. Using Boot Camp 2.1.
The program successfully installed on on Dell laptop, and for a while I thought the problem was SP3 being installed with XP. Uninstalling SP3 resulted in no change in install outcome, and did cause some other broken programs.
The program has a USB security key for authentication, but we can't even get that far.
Any & all suggestions would be welcome. Thanks

I recently upgraded my OS from 10.6.8 to 10.8.2 on a Mid 2010 Macbook Pro. I had permission problems straight away but using disk Utility seems to have cleared most of these up, however I cannot install important third party software, in this case drivers from Matrox and new Drivers for the NVIDIA graphics card. I get an error message saying 'The installation failed'. Contact the software manufactutuer.
I think its a problem with Lion rather than the third party software. Here is what console says as I run the install for the Matrox drivers. Any help would be appreciated as these are key bits of software/hardware for my work.

Thanks for getting back to me.
I can see that issue with the freecom driver now you mention it. I've uninstalled the freecom software using Clean App and then tried to reinstall the Matrox drivers. I'm still getting an Installation failure and the console report indicates that there is still something 'Freecom' on my computer - see below. The latest report starts when I open the .dmg and doesn't look very encouraging from the off.
Do you have any thoughts?

Install 3rd party drivers when installing app

Running LabVIEW 2010. I have an application that runs with custom hardware plugged into the USB port. The device is not an NI device, and therefore, does not use NI drivers. I have 3rd party drivers for the device, and rather than install them separately, I would like the option of installing them when the user installs the application software. Is this possible?

Stumped again ... this is a new replacement PCI audio card.

I got a Rev B Replacement card from M-Audio. It behaved the same way as before under 10.5.6, until I ran AppleJack.
I believe that cleared up the problems: M-Audio's v2.0.8 drivers don't install properly under 10.5.6... As I understand things, Ownership and Permissions need to be changed, and caches needed to be rebuilt. AppleJack under auto pilot did this relatively fast ... compared to how long its taken to arrive at a solution ...

SQL Developer and 3rd Party Drivers: JavaDB

Go the latest 3rd party drivers for MySQL and <ugh>MS Access</ugh> but what I am looking for is a third party driver for Apache_derby JAVADB. Anyone?
Manually adding the derby.jar in the thirdparty drivers under Preferences appears to do nothing in the SQL Developer GUI.

Currently, only the named third party database (MS SQL Server, Sybase, MYSQL and Access) are supported. Generic third party connection isn''t available until 2.0
You could try defining a custom JDBC URL, but i suspect there ins't enough underlying support to make it worthwhile.

Sync 3rd party calendar program installed on palm to outlook to bb?

as the subj line states...
i have a palm t/x running a 3rd party calendar program (calendarscope) which i sync from my desktop because that is where the master is.
from research i understand that i have to sync my palm calendar program with outlook using the import function in outlook, then sync (convert) it with my bb using the switch device wizard?
as of right now, when i click on the switch device wizard, my select desktop organizer cannot be chosen as the whole screen is grey and won't let me chose any of the 2 options.

I'm having issues with MacMail and ATT/yahoo (sbcglobal.net). Apple points its fingers at ATT and ATT points their fingers at Apple. I've given up. I would like to find a 3rd party mail program that will handle multiple accounts and work with ATT/yahoo. Any suggestions?

I configured a monitoring/dba landscape for two SAP Portals and one SAP BusinessObjects system on a SAP landscape by using DBACOCKPIT, at a customer site. These systems are running on AIX, Windows 2003/2008 servers and attached to the central monitoring system with standalone SAP gateway installations.
One another reason to not use OS based commands or 3rd party tools is security. We are stopping and disabling most of the services on OS where SAP system is running on, because of the security reasons. I faced more security gaps on rsh/ssh and the other tools than standalone SAP Gateway installations. As you can figure out that rsh/ssh is getting more attack than standalone SAP Gateway, because of well known by the IT world.
As a summary of it, this depends to point of view and policy of the IT organization. I applied both ssh and standalone SAP Gateway solutions at my customers, but I choose standalone SAP Gateway installation among of them.

Upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro Update 1 and it killed all my 3rd party drivers

Hoping someone can help - my PC upgraded Windows 8.1 Pro (fresh install a few months ago) with the 'Update 1 patch' which was made available a few days ago. It was done via Windows Update - I let it do its thing for about 15 minutes, restart etc.
Once the machine restarted, I noticed the following:
- no network connection
- no sound
- no working camera
I went to the device manager and see a stack of 3rd-party devices with exclamation marks, all stating code 28 (the drivers for this device are not installed). I go to each device and try to update the drivers - it looks like its going to work and then
gives the error "The system cannot find the file specified".
I do some googling and find the setupapi.dev.log. The log for every device with a problem reads like this:

It seems like 'update 1' as crapped all over my driver store.
What can I do to fix this - I have tried a raft of things such as pnputil commands to add the driver INFs manually (they fail saying 'element not found'), but still I am stuck without sound, network and camera.
This will be the last time I let Microsoft update automatically install - it will now be 100% manual, and done after a few weeks to ensure there aren't bugs.

Will upgrading on to OS X Mavericks (from Snow Leopard 10.6.8) affect the running of the installed 3rd party softwares/programs?

I have just received an email encouraging me to upgrading on to OS X Mavericks (from Snow Leopard 10.6.8). Currently I do have in my computer several 3rd party software and programs (from Adobestuff, finalcut Pro, MS Office, ILife etc.
Will upgrading to OS X Mavericks affect the running of these software /programs? Will I need to also upgrade these softwares?

There may be issues with compatibilty, as with any OS upgrade. Snow leopard (10.6.N) includes a piece of software from Apple called Rosetta. This software allows older PowerPC applications to run on Intel based Macs. This software does not run on any OS X higher than the latest Snow Leopard, 10.6.8. You can see if you have any of programs that require Rosetta installed by bringing up the "System Information" application through spotlight (click on the magnifying glass icon on the upper right, type System Information in the search field and select the application thta is found).
Once in System Information select "Applications" under "Software" near the bottom of the list. Scroll through the list of applications and if any indicate that they are PowerPC based then they will not run under Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks.

Uninstalling 3rd party drivers

I have a Chinese two way radio and in order to programme the frequencies I downloaded a runtime program and the software called Chirp.
I have since updated to Yosemite and i could not get the programme to run. Looking on Google it would appear that a USB driver was required and I downloaded file:///Users/peteraisthorpe-buckley/Downloads/osx-pl2303-0.3.1-10.4-universal. dmg and installed it.
After it installed it re-started the computer, appeared to be rebooting and after entering password etc the computer went back to normal but everything takes an ge to open with the multi coloured wheel appearing every time I clicked on an option.
So, my question is how can I uninstall this driver and any others in order to get back to the original configuration. Least ways, to get rid of any third party driver except the printer driver?

Solution:
1. Install NTFS 3G with no Macfuse. I downloaded "NTFS 3G for Mac OS X" - NTFS-3G 2010.10.2 from http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.co.nz/2010/10/ntfs-3g-for-mac-os-x-2010102.html
as instructed in this osxfuse github wiki https://github.com/osxfuse/osxfuse/wiki/NTFS-3G
2. download and install OSXFUSE latest version, and also choose option to additionally install MacFuse compatibility layer when installing.
3. Install Fuse Wait. I downloaded fuse_wait-1.1.pkg which is for OS X 10.7 and later versions of Mac OS X
from https://github.com/bfleischer/fuse_wait/downloads
Not only I can now read my hard drive, but I can also write to it as well.
Lessons learned:
- Always read the readme files to ensure the installation won't break stuff
- There are free alternatives to paid software/drivers like Paragon and Tuxeras

I did recently look through a few of the older topics, but was a little lost as to which program I should choose, as there's so many.
So I'm going to be purchasing a laptop within the week and I need a way to transfer my music on my ipod to itunes (on the laptop). I'm familiar with the manual procedure of locating the hidden files and copying them, but I'm concerned about keeping my play-counts and the such. I've been rifling through a good deal of these third party programs, but some seem a little shifty and complicated. Any real recommended programs that anyone has used succesfully? Thanks in advance.

There are plenty of programs that do this but the only one that is able to completely build your iTunes library from your iPod is CopyTrans http://www.copytrans.net
This tool does not only handle your songs like others do but also your playlists, ratings, play count, album artworks, videos, and podcasts (incl. subscriptions) etc and imports all that to iTunes in the right order and categories.

You might consider instead purchasing an external hard drive (they are pretty cheap right now), copying your iTunes folder to that drive, installing iTunes on the new laptop and then copying the iTunes folder from the external hard drive to the laptop.
This will preserve everything you have and the bonus is you will now be able to easily back up your library in the future.

Printing in Iphoto 6 Vs. 3rd Party Printing Program?

Why is printing in Iphoto 6 seem to degrade or print out a picture worse than when you use Canon's Easy Photo or Photoshop? The pictures come out darker and not as true as when you use the other programs. It would be convenient to use just Iphoto for everything. Any suggestions or help?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. A lot has to do with color profiles and how iPhoto handles them. Canon's software probably uses the canon I've not gotten a handle on that either and use Photoshop from within iPhoto to do my most of my printing. I have PS set up to use the sRGB color profile as that's what is used by Apple for books, calendars, etc. iPhoto may or may not use the profile depending on how you have the preferences set up (Advanced section of iPhoto's preferences). As I said, since I do most everything via PS I just print from it also.
