3rd party messages to MacBookPro regarding Flash Pro Install

@I have a MacbookPro and I have recently updated the OS to Maverick 10.9.5 form the original 10.6.8, a common OS for this generations of MacBook. I updated the OS because Snow Leopard was getting long in the tooth for a new Mac and I decided that it was time. Both before I updated and since, I am getting a page coming up in some of the sites I visit using safari that is telling me I should download Flash Pro. At the bottom of the page there is a message that says, the site is not affiliated with Adobe in any way. It claims that "top video sites require the latest Adobe Flash Player Update". and that "updating only takes under a minute on broadband - no restart required."
All of that sounds wonderful and very appealing. There appears to be a Flash logo at the top of the page, yet there is the comment at the bottom that they are not affiliated with Adobe in any way.
Any idea what that is? Should I be using Flash Pro? If so, is it a free download from the Adobe site itself. I think I might actually have tried to install from that site one time, unsuccessfully. To be honest I simply cannot remember. The Box had been coming up about once a week before updating to Maverick OS and just popped up for the first time since updating to Maverick this morning.
Any advice...or information would be very helpful.

Hi jnug,
'Flash Player Pro' will most definitely install malware on your system.  As Pat says, you were right to be suspicious and not install from this site, especially since the content on the page indicated the site was not affiliated with Adobe.  You can Google 'Flash Player Pro' and read all the stories of people installing this and getting malware, etc installed on their system.  If this thing keeps popping up on your system, you may already have some sort of malware installed on your system and you'll want to run a scan of your system to ensure it is clean, or if not, clean your system.

  • MacBook Pro 3rd Party App not loading just 'flashes' 10.8.5

    Hi
Could really use some help here, been using this forum for around 6 years and have managed to solve all my Mac problems through it which has been great, but I have an issue I really can't figure out.
Replaced my HD with an SSD using Carbon Copy Cloner and everything has worked perfectly apart from one really annoying problem.
If I unzip a 3rd party App (not .dmg these work ok) for a piece of music software (as that is all I use this Mac for) it just 'flashes' for a second and stops - where as normally it will ask for Password to make changes and install it.
If I use Console to inspect the error I get this…
com.apple.launched.peruser.501:([0x0-044044].com.native-instruments.kExecutableN ame[318]) Job failed to exec(3) for weird reason: 13
Dock: no information back from LS about running process
This is what I have tried.
    1. Security and Privacy Settings are set to allow non Apple Apps.
    2. I have repaired Permissions in Disc Utility and from Terminal in Recovery HD via resetpassword command.
    3. I have opened the app for the Get Info part and I have Read/Write permission on it.
    4. I booted in Safe Mode, still the same.
    5. I created a new Admin user on my Mac and tried to open the same App after unzipping and it immediately asks for the prompt to enter password to make changes. (so the download/unzip process is ok).
So, I guess it really must have something to do with my permissions somehow (or not!). As this is the only thing that does not work I feel I have narrowed it down but just can't fix it.
Any help/advice will be much appreciated.

    Ok
I have fixed this. May be of help to others at some point.
I have been using Zipeg for .zip folders for about 4 years and never had an issue, I saw on a non related post about .zip files and how they can become corrupted during de-compression.
Anyway, I deleted zipeg and re-installed it, still the same, after that I read a post about OSX built in Archive Utility, it wasn't in my Utility folder so another post gave the path. I had no idea it even existed.
System / Library / Core Services - Archive Utility.
Using this all is working perfectly again.

  • 3rd Party 24" LCD on a Mac Pro via VGA

    Hello,
I have my Mac connected to a 3rd Party 24" LCD via a KVM, which restricts me to using VGA for the connection. With my G5, I was unable to run at 1920x1200 until I upgraded to a Radeon 9800 Pro ME video card. I'm having the same issue with the NVIDIA card in my Mac Pro. It offers me 1920x1200 @ 76Hz which doesn't work with my monitor. I have checked a half dozen other monitors and none of them say that they will run at 1920x1200 and all of them recommend 1920x1200 @ 60Hz. I have that option with the 9800 Pro in the G5. Is there a way, short of changing video cards, of getting that option on the Mac Pro with the NVIDIA 7300 GT? If not, will the Radeon X1900 give me that option?
    Thanks,
    Bill

I found two solutions to this problem (though I'm running the ATI XT2600).
SwitchResX is available from <http://www.madrau.com>. The full featured program expands your video choices from the menu bar, but if you just need to make more resolutions available, the free SwitchResX app is all you need.
There is a hardware solution - the Gefen DVI Detective Plus lets you set parameters for a monitor and it then generates the appropriate signals to make the computer think that monitor is attached.
SwitchResX worked nicely for me, and is free.

  • 3rd party plugins not working after archive and install

    hi,
i have a few 3rd party plugins in my logic pro, such as all the native instruments, waves diamond, ik multimedia plugins, atmosphere and a few more,
i was getting an error on my g5 when i tried to run diskwarrior from the disk. it was the kernal panic message, it said i had to restart my mac, therefore i couldnt run diskwarrior from disk.
i did a bit of research and a few people suggested doing a archive install, so i did.
well what do you know, i had to re-install logic 8 again. other programmes such as transcribe, itunes idvd imovie etc were ok.
but logic didnt load up, o i had to re-install logic again,
also before i did that i checked to see if my 3rd party plugin were working in standalone, so i check all the native instruments and they seemed to work ok, T-racks deluxe works fine, so i thought they should all load up in logic.
once logic was installed again and had to get all the updates all my 3rd party plugins did not show up on my AU validation.
is there a way to get logic to see my 3rd party plugins or do i have to re-install all of them again.
    cheers for the help
    lib

Then check if the NI AU components are actually where they should be:
    HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
If not copy them over from your "previous systems" folder which was created on your HD during the archive and install process.

  • Can't apply my 3rd party filters anymore in Photoshop CS5 after installing a twain driver

I installed a twain driver (i now realize this was a mistake) in my CS5 for the purpose of scanning within it.  Since doing so, I can no longer apply my topaz filters (or any 3rd party filters for that matter).  The filter interface opens fine, and i can see the filter on my image, however, when I click out of it, nothing is applied to my image.  Help?!?

For a very quick fix, try removing the Adobe TWAIN plug-in or at least disabling it by closing Photoshop and  typing a ~ (that's a tilde ~) in front of its name, then relaunch Photoshop.
That's why Adobe doesn't even include the now-optional TWAIN plug-in as part of the default installation of Photoshop any more.

  • 3rd party plugins are missing in logic pro x

only a quarter of my plugins are showing up in logic pro x any idea why & how i can get them 2 show up? cause they all work in logic express 9 except for a few that stopped working since i installed maverick osx. any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

It's not because they are outdated 32-bit AudioUnits and Logic Pro X is a 64-bit application?

  • What 3rd party monitor works best with Macbook Pro?

I am trying to find a good inexpensive monitor that will work with my Macbook Pro and my work laptop.  I bought a viewsonic before I found out that they don't support MacOSX with their driver.  The aspect ratio was never correct, it went straight to 4:3, and i couldn't fix it.  Has anyone used an AOS monitor?

using a mini port adapter to VGA, with the VGA cable supplied by viewsonic.  I haven't tried different cable or adapter yet.  I am trying to use the external monitor with my macbook in clamshell mode (getting old eyes).  When I originally set it up the macbook immediately went to 4:3 on the internal monitor, and detected the VS monitor.  I tweaked the resolution manually and got the aspect ratio to fit into the full monitor screen, but it was stretched and the resolution had to be set way down in order to get full coverage.  With the 1920x1080 res the image was only "active" on the right 3/4 of the monitor, and even after I moved the image to the left it stayed in 4:3 and was offset to the right.  I saw something about a screen spanner doctor (?) fo rthe macbook.  WOuld that help?

  • Flash Pro IDE or Flash Builder 4.5

    Hello,
I am a designer working on a mobile project and I am experience in using Flash Professional and I am also beginning to get more comfortable with Flex. Is there a reason why I should use Flash Builder 4.5 instead of Flash Pro?  Part of the mobile project will have some database calls (php+msql) and I also will be using geolocation with google maps. I think that all of these could be done in Flash Pro.
I am tring to figure out a good workflow and I seem to be getting behind on my project because of these variables.
Could anyone enlighten me on this?
    thanks.

Flash Builder has a much more powerful code editor (as well as other features like the profiler), and much better support for Flex.  Even if you don't use Flex, Flash Builder or a 3rd party editor like FDT or Flash Develop will make coding those .as files much more enjoyable.  IMO, writing code in Flash Pro is like punching yourself in the face; it feels good when you stop!

  • After installing Radeon Graphics drivers on Windows 8 Flash player and Adobe Flash Pro didn't re-ins

    Hi,
On a Windows 8 Pro desktop I recently installed Flash Pro and it seemed to work great.   Also Flash Player was working great as well.  But I noticed on Adobe  Photoshop CS6 that the 3d controls were not working.  So I installed the the Radeon Graphics AMD Catylyst Control series for an onder 4800 series graphics card.   Has anyone else had problems with 4800 series AMD ATI video cards?  Any suggestions after reviewing the tables below?
I then noticed that the 3d controls in Adobe Photoshop worked great. But...
Later, however, I noticed that Flash Play would green screen on some videos in IE10.  So I tried to follow the Flash Player repair procedure such as remove checkbox on Active X Filter,  Adding Compatibility mode without success in IE so I installed Mozilla Fire Fox and re-installed flash player etc... which worke don Mozilla but not IE10.  So I'm thinking this new software from AMD caused several problems to occur and not sure how to fix them. I still want 3d controls on my video card and now I'm thinking about starting a fresh install before installing Adobe software with a new NVidia card or a trusted AMD ATI card because this legacy 4800 doesn't seem to be cutting.
Here is my system settings and after this table are the errors I got upon reinstalling Flash pro.    Note: These were not critical errors so I was still able to run Flash Pro.  I was never able to run Flash Player on IE10 after upgrading my video card software (Catalyst Control Center).   However Flash Player does seem to work great on Mozilla Firefox after re-installing Adobe Flash.   When I try to install Flash Player in IE10 I get a title screen of "Update Flash" with no content whatsover.

  • Translation route to 3rd party IVR

    HI,
    Below is the requirement.
UCCE  to be integrated with 3rd party IVR.
3rd party IVR receives the call from the network and when customer requires an agent transfer, this IVR will send the call data to their webservice.
This webservice will act as an interface between UCCE and 3rd party IVR.
    We proposed the following,
Install a VRU PG server to interact with this webservice using GED-125.
When an agent transfer is required, 3rd party IVR would send the required call info along with the call as a DNIS to VRUPG via webservice. Using this DNIS, will trigger an ICM script to receive the call data and will have to use trans route to send the call to agent desktop (CAD) along with the received data.
Will this be a right approach? if yes how do we configure transroute to get the data and call into ICM from the 3rd party IVR.
    Regards
    Rafi

    No problem.
As I said earlier, call lands into 3rd party IVR in a different network. UCCE is on a differnt location or geography.
The above IVR talks to their webservice application to set call context data and this webservice will integrate with VRUPG designated to talk to only this webservice. Basicaly the webservice will be treated as any other IVR peripheral (eg..CVP) from UCCE perspective.

  • TNS-12154...3rd Party tools won't connect to 9.2iEE

    Platform:
    Pentium 4 2.4GHz
    Windows 2000 (SP2)
    Oracle 9iEE 9.2
    OWB 9.2
Quest Software Data Dictionary for Oracle
Other 3rd party tools accessing Oracle RDBMS
We have installed Oracle 9iEE, and OWB 9.2. OWB Client and Server components have been installed into their own 'oracle_home' directories. All software is installed on the one machine.
We have also installed Quest Software Data Dictionary for Oracle on the machine.
We have found 2 TNSNAMES.ORA files on the machine....one for the database itself, and the other in the OWB Client 'Oracle home'
The OWB client connects with the database ok, but the Quest software and other 3rd party tools come back with the error of TNS-12154. 3rd party tools were ok while we had 9iPE installed. But have stopped connecting with the oracle database since the installation of 9iEE and OWB, and come up with the TNS-12154 error each time we try.
We have 3 'Home' entries in the Registry under HKEY_LOCALMACHINE>SOFTWARE>ORACLE. One for 9iEE, and 2 others each for the OWB Server & Client.
Below are the TNSNAMES.ORA, SQLNET.ORA, and LISTENER.ORA contents for the 9iEE installation:

THE NEW INSTANCE STATUS COME UP AS READY, UNLIKE THE PREVIOUS STATUS OF UNKNOWN!
My guess is the 2 TNSNAMES.ORA files on the machine, and the contents of the Registry 'Home' entries are causing the issues. But I'm not sure of what actions to take, and why initially the service instances come up as 'UKNOWN', and then the other 2 appear as 'READY'. ora92ee.mydomain has 2 instances of the service....baffling.
Is it to do with installing 9iEE on a single machine, rather than a Client/Server environment?
Any ideas upon how we can get our 3rd party tools to successfully connect to the Oracle database again will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Compressor output to FLV using Flash Pro Codec?

I was told by an Apple Tech support person, after venting my frustrations over Apple's website promoting Compressor being able to output to FLV, that Compressor CAN output to FLV using the FLV codec that is available if you have Flash Pro Installed. (Part of CS3 Web Bundle)
I need to build things in Motion and output to Flash for website use, without having to spend almost $1000 for a motion plug-in. I think this is the only time that Apple has really advertised something that's not available without a lot more third party expense.
So... can someone explain how to use the Flash Pro Codec in Compressor to output to FLV?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Will H.

I have Final Cut Studio 2 as well as the Adobe Flash encoder and can't transfer a Quicktime to a FLV that plays back on ether of my systems. I shouldn't have to buy another application to do this.
Hope you or someone can help.
Standard misperception of FLV. FLV is not a self-contained movie, it requires a Flash Player running inside a Web page or the Flash application. You cannot even open the Flash Player and play an FLV unless the Flash Player…nevermind. It's weird, but that's Adobe for you.
You can play it back easily inside Adobe's free Media Player (it's beta but harmless). Free download for both Winderz and MAcintosh.

  • 3rd party application audio routing

I have not upgraded to Leopoard yet but I am very curious as to whether anyone has had experience with routing audio from both Mac apps (iTunes, QuickTime Player, etc.) and 3rd party audio apps (i.e. Pro Tools, Digital Performer, Reason, etc.) in an iChat session.
Under Tiger, I use a special concoction of Soundflower from Cycling74 (virtual audio mixer) and Audio Hijack Pro from Rougue Amoeba to route other application audio as input in iChat. It works but it's not pretty in terms of setting everything up. I can monitor everything in my USB headset save for my own voice input but everything can be recorded in case I want to produce a podcast or save for other purposes.
If iChat in Leopard can essentially route any audio output on your Mac into iChat, this will be great for the kinds of collaborative audio projects I like to do.
Thanks for any input you can provide.

Any suggestions for integrating iweb with static html pages created by 3rd party apps?
Joe ~ Since iWeb can't import HTML pages, one suggestion is to publish your current sites to the same iDisk space iWeb uses by following the instructions in this Apple doc:
MobileMe: How to publish a custom website
...This would put your sites in Web > Sites folder and the URL would be:
    http://web.me.com/membername/foldername/
Then you could remove your sites occupying the "HomePage" area, i.e. the Sites folder on iDisk.
