Did anyone realize there are third party stores? I resold a phone back to a third party store for 170 dollars. Bought a case and was told I would be able to use the gift card towards my bill. Well apparently I can't because it is a third party store and not a corporate Verizon store. So now I am stuck with 147 dollars on a gift card for accessories that I could only use in 3 small Verizon "third" party stores that literally have nothing. Be careful people when you deal with these stores and what you sell back or purchase from them. Lesson learned!

Yep, for over 8 years, the only Verizon Wireless store within 20 miles of my home was a premium third party retailer for Verizon Wireless.. Now Alltel is part of Verizon Wireless here and that corporate store is available and the third party retailer is closed.

Getting Employer Discount at 3rd Party Store

I was thinking about signing up with Verizon and doing so at a 3rd party store since it has the phone I want at a better price. I also work at a school district that receives an employer discount on my bill from Verizon. My question is how would I be able to get that discount added to my account and still sign up for Verizon at the 3rd party store?

Store documents in 3rd party repository

Hello. Is anyone familiar w/ storing documents (text, pdf, etc.) in a Filenet repository? Currently we have users storing docs in the ecc database (oracle). Since our company already has Filenet for other (non-SAP) document management I thought I could somehow configure SAP to store the docs/images there. I see Filenet has some connector product (one for imaging and one for documents) so does that mean I cannot do myself? That I need a license (and extra cost) for the Filenet connector? Was hoping I could do something without a 3rd party product? Any info on how to get started configuring (or even get started with a DMS ) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and have a nice day.

When the users are in the CV01N transaction they type a new name for the document and then the document type in ZED is chosen in the pull down.
I am familiar with the data in TOAOM for archivelink... I create an OAC0 entry and then an OAC2 entry and then update the OAC3 entry (which is the TOAOM data).... I am not sure which SAP_OBJECT and AR_OBJECT is being used in the CV01N transaction.
In OAC2 I can create ZED if needed with the document class *dwg?
where is documentation to explain the other steps needed?

Should 3rd party app installed from app store has admin or wheel in info box?

I installed a free program from the app store called Kitabu (an epub reader). Click on the info & it said wheel. I thought only programs came with the mac by default will have wheel and all other programs (ex: iWork, microsolf office) will have admin instead--which they do, I checked. Is this normal for 3rd party app to have wheel group?
Also the quick look plugin in this program (kitabu) works fine when I 1st installed it (quick look & preview function can view page cover of epub books). Then it stopped working. Is it the program fault or my mac?

Either or.
Trash the program's plist file which is located inside /Library/Preferences. Repair permissions, restart your computer and empty the trash.

IOS 4- App Store and 3rd Party Apps don't load

So I didn't have any problems with upgrading to iOS 4. The problems started when I tried to play with my apps such as Facebook and other games. They seem to stay in loading and nothing happens. I have turned of my phone multiple times and nothing seems to work. The App store also stays in a loading stage and nothing appears.
Is anyone having similar problems or know of any solutions?

OK. Here's the solution that worked for me. See my prior post on 22 June for background info.
After loading new apps and deleting and reloading existing apps to my iPhone via iTunes on my computer, the iPhone still would not run 3rd party apps. So I decided to start from scratch.
PROCEDURE:
1) Back up the iPhone.
2) Click the restore button to take the iPhone back bare bones iOS 4 operation. It is not necessary to download iOS 4 again. Do NOT restore from back-up as control of the process to the greatest extent possible is the goal.
3) Once the restore is complete, allow iTunes to configure the iPhone from the back-up.
4) Check some or all 3rd party apps to verify function.
5) Power down iPhone and restart it. Check some or all 3rd party apps to verify function again.
6)Load music and video (I manage mine manually)
This worked for me. Hope it works for you too.
I am most certainly not an expert. I just decided to try an approach I thought the Apple Genius's might suggest.

Use of files dowloaded from i-tunes store on Roku (3rd party device)

I have a Roku soundbridge system which play my music from my Mac compute r(via wifi). Unfortunaley it does not succeed to play the files bought on i-tunes store as it says they are protected. How can i take out the protection or have it read by my system. On roku site, i only find "apple does not allow streaming of files downloaded from their music store to 3rd party device." Is there any solution for me to listen to the albums i have bought on my system??? thks for your help

Sorry, but as Roku's web site says, no third-party devices can play tracks purchased from the iTunes Store. Tracks from the iTunes Store can only be played in iTunes or QuickTime Player or on an iPod, Apple TV, iPhone or iTunes-equipped Motorola cell phone.

3rd Party Retina Macbook Return to Apple Store

So I bought an 8gb retina macbook pro from a 3rd party, and want the 16gb version (No captain hindsights please, I know, shoulda thought ahead, didn't =/). Would the Apple Store be at all helpful as far as returns and replacing goes?

Was it from a person or company. I would not think any company that was not an authorized Apple Reseller would have any Retina MBPs as Apple can't get any to there own stores let along authorized reseller.
So I'm guessing it was from a person and he had bought it and sold it to you.
In any event your Mac has a 1 year warranty which is good world wide. Unless of course if it was stolen like from a truck shipment or something.
Along with that 1 year warranty you can get the extended Applecare that will give you 3 total years of warranty.
Have you tried to register it on the Apple web site?

Existing 3rd party apps I own - Will they be updated by the store?

So here's an oddity some folks have already noticed. The MAS (Mac App Store) recognizes installed Apple apps and some 3rd party apps. It seems to be tied to the version number and bundle ID of the app you have installed vs. the one in the store. For example, along with MAS recognizing my installation of iLife and Apple Remote Desktop on my MBA, it also recognized Things (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/things/id407951449?mt=12). It did not, however, recognize Evernote (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/evernote/id406056744?mt=12). In that case, the version number was different and it also looks like autoupdating is pulled from the MAS version in lieu of the MAS' own update process.
So here's the question - if an app like Things is recognized, will it be included as part of the MAS update process?

I hadn't considered the licensing issues, but it makes sense. So the answer to the original question is a confirmed no.
He also confirmed your theory that the application fingerprinting method is a combination of bundle ID and version number. The bundle identifier for Evernote is unchanged between 2.0 and 2.0.1, so I'm probably right about MAS only recognizing versions of apps which it has distributed.

We wanted to subscribe to an app through the app store for our child. We just wanted to know how safe these 3rd party apps are with credit card information, because we dont want our information used in the wrong ways, or used for things other than the subscription. We also wanted to know if the subscriptions could be paid with itunes gift cards.

Is there a 3rd Party Solution for Adobe's lack of recover for unsaved work?

Time and time again I am baffled by Adobe's inability or refusal to make the user experience consistent across it's entire Creative Suite.
I am repeatedly shocked by the punitive error messages I receive in Photoshop. It's as though you don't really care what the user wants, I mean what are we going to do, use MS Paint? So you are at liberty to provide such classic errors as "Unable to complete your request because of a program error" instead of "wait, did you mean apply that filter to the only visible layer that you had selected just seconds before and never requested that the layer be de-selected?" I could go on and on with the crazy and convoluted exceptions to logic in Photoshop, but I would rather just understand why, when you know that a problem exists and affects 90% of your users at some point, why wouldn't you try to build in some form of recovery when your program crashes
Why should I be punished for relying on your program not to crash when I am working on something? I have repeatedly been advised that the best solution is to save often. Sometimes that's not an option and why should it be my responsibility to compensate for your buggy program?
After 20 years of development, you can't figure out how to recover someone's work if they haven't been able to save for some reason and Phtooshop crashes? I have been using Photoshop since Version 3 (for sure, but more likely version 2) and back then you could rename your temp files and recover the work you hadn't saved. I understand that the mechanism by which fast previews (comps) of your work are displayed but not applied (like Live Image), but why isn't it possible to store a simple text file that could retrace my steps if your program crashes?
This is a real problem if you are processing a filter that takes 30 minutes and Photoshop waits until 29 minutes and 59 seconds to announce that it stopped working. Granted you can see your document in the background, but you can't save it? You can't commit whatever is in RAM for the undo states to disk? You can't have your program quickly save a new text file with the list of commands applied between saves? You can't do anything? After 20 years?
Microsoft includes recovery in Word, Excel, etc. Even SOME Adobe programs do it: InDesign...AfterEffects. Why doesn't your flagship program do it?
It's frustrating beyond belief and it baffles me that Adobe is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Photoshop and yet this basic, basic customer need is still not effectively addressed and furthermore, any question about it is answered with indignant indifference:
it doesn't work and we don't care what you want,
think you'd be happier with our competition....
oh wait, we don't really have any competition...
maybe you should save more often...
Is there a 3rd party solution that will allow me to recover my work in Photoshop when it crashes between saves? Or am I just stuck having to cope with rebuilding my work because Adobe refuses to provide a solution.

Go to google and search for keyboard recording software. That will record all of your keystrokes.
CS4 running under windows 7 appearently has some problems. While it would be nice if Adobe went back and rewrote there software for an operating system that was in early development when CS4 was released, it is not likely to happen.
Excuse me, they did it is called Adobe Photoshop CS5 and is due to be release soon.

I am currently running Windows Vista Home Premium "not my choice" on a Toshiba A215-S4747 with 3gb ram. When I bought this laptop the Toshiba Rep was at the Best Buy and I spoke with him about this very computer. I did not want to run Windows Vista, period, I had heard to many bad reports about it. The Toshiba Rep told me that was not a problem and this computer would run Windows XP Professional just fine.
So I bought this computer and 2gb of ram as it only came with 512mb. I went home happly and proceeded to install Windows XP Pro and the new memory. Guess what?
this computer will in fact run Windows XP Pro just fine as long as you take into consideration that there are almost no hardware drivers for the periferals that make up this computer.
So I reinstall Windows Vista and for the next year I am tied into fits because of system crashes. Finally I am at the point that I am going to take this computer to the Toshiba Office in Torrance California and personally give it back to them "I was going to throw it through the front office window.".
Just before I ran across memtest and I downloaded it and tested my memory. You got it I had a defective ram chip.
Best Buy replaced the chip no problem. that was in November of 2008. I do horrible things to this computer, I really can drive it. It has not crashed once since I found and fixed the problem.
No one is suggesting that you are an idiot! or inexperienced. but no matter what you do remember 2 very simple rules.
If you run into a problem 1. "Go Back To Basics" and 2. "KISS ie: keep it simple stupid" if you do this and I am speaking from my own experience you will find like and work a lot simpler and more pleasent.

First try a hard reset. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. If that doesn't help, try downloading a new App free app from the app store to see if that helps.

ITunes Match and 3rd Party Apps - iPad/iPhone

With the myriad of apps out there that integrate with iTunes, why is it that nearly none of them offer support for iTunes Match? (And, a seemingly cool one that claims to offer support -- "BeatBlaster" -- http://www.beatblaster.com/ -- that has all the features I'm looking for, isn't available in the App Store in the US). I'm really surprised at the lack of information on this topic on the web... A Google search for it only pulls up articles that are 2-3 years old. The best information I could find was that the API toolset made available to developers is either really limited, or it's just not available at all... and that's in an article from 2011. Are you telling me that Apple is STILL -- 3+ years later -- limiting access to developer tools for iTunes Match integration (or just has never created any)? I understand that I'm asking about something that could be considered "outside" of Apple (3rd Party apps), but I'm just really looking for someone that might be in the know on this stuff... And, I'm hoping that that person can clue the rest of us in on "what's up".
Bottom line, I'm looking for a clock radio app that supports iTunes Match... I've got our Master Bedroom and Bath rigged up with in-ceiling speakers, attached to a bluetooth receiver, with a wall-mounted iPad serving as the "jukebox". When my dang iPad doesn't drop the WiFi connection, it's pretty slick. I'd just like to have a single app that a) offers a large, well-visible clock, b) allows me to browse my iTunes Match library of songs and play them as I'd like, and c) have a "play my iTunes music as an alarm" option. I know... directly d/l-ing songs to the iPad is an option, but it defeats the whole purpose of iTunes Match, which I subscribe to because my music library is WAY too big to fit on the iPad (or my iPhone).
Anyway, any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You'll have to ask the software makers this question. It is up to the 3rd party vendors, not Apple, to provide the features you are asking for.

I just purchased a refurb Mac Book Pro from the Apple on-line store. When I received the machine (serial number) I purchased 3rd party (OWC) parts. All of these were installed by the authorized, local Apple repair store I have had excellant results with past issues with my 2006 MBP. The parts installed are: 16 meg ram, 240 SSD and a 1 T installed replacing the optical drive.
Feeling ready now, I had the Apple store do the migration from my 2006 MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.8) over to the 2012.
When trying to get the new machine into the production flow, I cannot get email to work. It will launch but I cannot access accounts.
During the One to One, then moved over to the Genius Bar appointment, they reentered the account(s) data. Nothing.
Also at this time they noticed that the Internet connection was not working.
A new internet account was set up and it worked. They (Genius) launched email and the Internet connection crashed. This was repeated about 5 times.
The computer was left with Apple to reinstall the OS (10.8) - their best suggestion as a fix and I have now had a call to say that the install did not correct the problem. Now they are questioning the install of the 3rd party parts as the possible problem.
I'm to go back into the Apple store to discuss the next steps.
I would really, really appreciate anyones thoughts / suggestions on this problem. Is it software or hardware? Should I re-install the original ram and 500 m hard drive to start over with the migration? I'll be honest here and state - I'm not a technician in computers or this side of technology. That is why I have reliable parties do the install and trouble shoot. Not a comfortable feeling being at their mercy.

Back from the Apple store with my 2012 MacBook Pro.
After one re-install of the OS - no better - a clean install was performed - purging all of the data that they had migrated over from my 2006 MBP last week.
The belief is, that the migrated data from my 2006 MBP was too great of a leap for the new 10.8. My (a lot) software was too dated and there in was a "blip" of some sort in some / one of the programs.
So - all of the OWC parts and pieces that I had installed are not the issue - as they all show up on the About this Mac - and other things are functional. Yeah.
I now have my 2012 back (with upgrades) in the original form (OS and programs) and I will start a one by one migration of programs that I do need and use. Being cautious not to make one large transfer.... weeding out programs that will no longer be needed or will work on the OS 10.8. I will manually set up the email accounts one by one.
Fingers crossed.
