4.0.1 on windows xp is slow loading-can't get gmail-etc.

Just this morning have been having trouble loading the browser on the work windows xp. It takes many minutes to load, then once it's up, can't seem to go anywhere. Earlier this morning at my home xp system the browser worked fine--don't know if tha's still true as I have 4.1.0 on it as well.

You can check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.

Thanks the address you gave me gave me what I needed but still had alot of trouble with the game. Come to find out it was my browser IE8 that was causing all the problem. So I changed to google chrome and loaded the regular version of Flash player and have been able to get on the game. Now i have trouble with my plugins can you send me a link to find Adobe flash player plugin 9.0.124.0?

Hi, I'm kinda at my wit's end here. I have a desktop PC using Windows XP Pro operating system. To get wireless, I'm using an external wireless d-link USB.
It works fine on my home network. I took the desktop to my local repair guy. There's nothing wrong with it that would prevent network connections. And, natch, the wireless network is working well on everyone else's computers there, including my MacBook. But what happens with this PC is that it sees the network and then tries to connect and doesn't connect ever.
Any ideas?

Googling around, I decided to try changing the password to 13 characters on the airport. That did the trick.

Windows won't start and can't get system repair disc to run

I have a toshiba A505-S6980 and suddenly windows will not load up and start. I did get to safe mode and saw some windows files load up but safe mode doesn't really open up windows where I can do anything. I have a System Repair Disc and the System Recovery discs I can run but I can't get to the Toshiba Recovery Wizard. How can I get the "D" drive to open to try and use the system repair disc?

After you have loaded the repair disc, shut down the computer. Then power it up and press F12 to reach the boot-priority menu. Select the optical drive there.
What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?
If you can't boot from the repair disc, there's something wrong with the hardware, the BIOS, or the disc.

I upgraded Firefox to the latest version, and now it is very very very slow. Can I get back to version 2.0?

I have a computer running Windows XP and it's about 5 years old. I upgraded to Firefox 3.6 (or whatever the decimal is now) and now it runs sluggishly slow. Is there a way I can get back to my previous version of Firefox?

I've always been able to minimize all my windows by double clicking the title bar. Yes, I could click the yellow button -- I just want the old feature back because I do it so automatically. Now when I double click the title bar it opens a new tab. I was able to do this with all the previous versions of Firefox as well.

(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

Windows won't install and can't get back to mac os

I printed boot camp instructions. I partitioned the disk with no problem, inserted windows 7 and it came up a black screen with blinking cursor. I cannot get out of it and if I restart, it says to insert bootable disk. I cannot get mac os to come up. What can I do?

Reboot, hold the option (alt) key down at the chime, when the boot manager loads select Mac OSX as the startup disk. When OSX loads go to Apple>System Preferences>Startup Disk and select OSX as the default.

Help - using windows 7 and bonjour and can't get printer to work!

Hi, I recently upgraded my wife's pc. Previously I had a wireless printer set up using bonjour and the airport express. My mac and the old pc (windows xp). I had no problems printing. I upgraded her PC and now it uses windows 7. I installed bonjour and tried to print but no success. The PC can see the printer. It says that it sends the file to print. I get no printer error or anything on the PC, but nothing happens. Anyone have a suggestion?

3) make sure that xp allows tcp 515 (done?)
on linux
1) start cups
2) open konqueror (not firefox) and enter in the address bar

- first page:set priter description
- second page: Select device lpd/lpr host or printer
- third page enter lpd://hostname/queue (hostname if defined in /etc/hosts, otherwise ip address of XP box queue -> printer share name

K Menu -> Settings ->Printers ->Add -> follow screens
I found KDE method (under Arch) more reliable, but both should work. No idea about Gnome.

have installed Icloud on my pc using windows7 ... try to log on and get message that my apple id is valid but not an icloud account Went to www.icloud and tried logon there and that didn't work either. getting instructions run around. How do I get an icloud account.

You may not have noticed it but when you downloaded the iCloud control panel for Windows from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455, it does state:
"Note: To create an iCloud account you need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later."
If you need to get your photos off your Verizon phone, the Verison store should be able to help you with that. Just bring your phone and a usb memory stick and they should be able to transfer them for you.

Finder Window appearance changed and I can't get it back to normal

Okay this is just driving me nuts and despite all my efforts I can't fix it. About a month ago, my Finder window changed appearance. Instead of the normal view on the left hand side that shows Devices, Network, Places and Search For, it is showing none of that. Weird thing is, if I open Documents or Downloads or any other folder that opens the Finder, it appears normal. So my problem is only with the main finder icon in my dock, which happens to be the one I use the most. All the boxes are checked in preferences to show all the items but it just won't do it.

I recently downloaded iTunes 10.5 on my Windows 7 64 bit...Now, when I click on iTunes, a notice pops up that says "The procedure entry point AQOfflineMixerNew could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreAudioToolbox.dll." Then another that says "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows Error 127). I have reinstalled it many times, and tried registry cleans etc. eeep HELP

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:

Fragmented Windows partition and now I can't get that memory back.

I was removing the windows partition off of my MacBook Pro, but Boot Camp Assistant randomly closed, so I had assumed that it had finished with deleting the partition, and that all of my memory has returned just for OS X. But I still realized that half of my hard drive space was gone. I went to disk utility, and when I try to partition OS X to the full 500 GB, but it could not verify the file system verification failed. So Now when I try and install windows again, It tells me that I can only use 15 GB out of 250 GB, even though I have a 500 GB hard drive. Any methods to fix this?

Slow Loading - can I speed it up??

I've got an applet that includes about 10 classes (100 to 1000 lines of code ea.) in the jar.
There are also 2 other database jars that it uses.
The jars are also signed.
Even if the browser has already downloaded the jars, the applet loads into the browser real slow. It takes about 20 to 30 seconds to load the applet (when it asks if I want to allow it to run).
From there it's not too bad.

When I try and open a new tab in the same window, it wont open a new tab. It leaves the page I am on and goes to the "top sites page."

If you have got to Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.2 and therefore Messages version 7.0.1 then double click the individual chats.
Once they are in separate windows you can chat like that (That's the way I used to chat - I didn't even use the tabbed chat)
It is impossible to create a separate Chat window each new chat (you have to separate them off from the main window which also keeps a "copy")
New chats are added to the main window even if you have used the red button to hide it. (CMD + 0 from the Window menu brings it back)
