4.0b9, Mac OSX 10.6.6, open page, gray screen, blinks, works sorta

FF 4.0b9 and Mac OSX 10.6.6 came along the same day, so no surprise it's odd. Curious if anyone else is seeing this. Open most any page and it shows, then goes solid gray; moving the mouse makes individual rectangles pop into view; /view/reload gets the whole screen, though it may still flicker all gray at times.

Solved, somehow.
I downgraded to b8 -- just downloade a fresh copy of it and tossed my copy of v9. Problem gone. A couple of days after that I got a popup saying Firefox had updated itself and would install v9 next time I rebooted. I thought, dang, the problem's going to come back.
But -- no problem! Maybe I got a later build of beta 9? Dunno.
And I'm now at b10 and no problem with that either.

Mac OSX quits unexpectedly when opening Logis Files!?

I have this issue where my computer quits all of a sudden where I have to turn it off and re-start. After it reboots the message " The computer was restarted after Mac OSX quit unexpectedly" comes on.
Does anybody else have this problem. It doesn't happen very often but still I want to get this fixed. Strangely, it happens when I try to open certain Logic Projects. I can open some of them but some of them crash.

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
Post back with the result.

AE CC 13.0.2 on Mac OSX 10.9.5 - file collecting feature does not work anymore

hi, I am experiencing issues with the file collecting feature out of AE CC 13.0.2 on Mac OSX 10.9.5. I have the same kind of problems on my MacBook Pro Retina 15'' (2014) with 1TB SSD and 16 GB Ram and on my iMac (mid 2011 3,4 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB RAM). I open a project without any problem, then try to collect onto an external hard drive. AE gives me error message, it cannot find a certain file (never the same file, I tried many times). I hand collected a current project onto external HD from my MacBook Pro, went to my imac, opened the hand collected Project from external HD (again no issue while opening) then again tried to perform the collect command. again error message notifying me that a certain file is missing. This is the case with different AE projects!! The After Effects collect files command to me is a very important feature that provides backup safety. with this feature not properly working I feel insecure, I need to fix this asap.

Oh yes. My bad. It is in face the one-second mark. And it is in every
project I have tried.
The assets in the first project that I noticed this happening on (which was
also the first project I opened after upgrading to OSX 10.10.2) include:
- Solid background with a color gradient
- Alpha Track Matte
- Optical Flare
- Particular
- Null object
But this exact same problem occurs with every project I've tried to export,
regardless of what's in the project/comp

I upgraded to Mac OSX Mavericks and my adobe cs4 licensing won't work

I bought my mac book pro a couple of years ago for my education at Kendall College of Art and Design. As a student I had my computer come installed with the student edition of Adobe Creative Suite 4. A few weeks ago, I went in to the Apple store to be advised regarding my thoughts on updating my Mac OSX Snow Leopard to Mavericks. I was told that Mavericks was stable and that I would be able to continue using my current Adobe Creative Suite on the new operative system.
Now when I try to start the program up on Mavericks, i receive the following window:
Licensing for this product has stopped working.
This product has has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your computer before it can be launched.
If you continue to see this message after restarting your computer please contact either your IT administrator or adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.

POWER MAC G5 WON'T BOOT UP AFTER GRAY SCREEN!!!!!!!

My wife was on my G5 one day and then came and told me it was messed up. When i turned my G5 on, the fans came on and it appeared that it was booting up. The computer got to the gray screen, had the little working icon under the apple logo came on, then it appeared to black out right around the the icon. The screen went black and then the screed said no connection.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
See if it will boot up to a screen by holding the Option/alt key down at bootup.
Any results?

How to solve ADE crashing on Mac OSX 10.9 when opening library ascm/epub files?

When trying to open some, but not all, epub library books using ADE, ADE sometime simply crashes and quits, for specific books. The only error message I get is "Adobe Digital Editions quit unexpectedly" —which is not a terribly helpful message, since it's pretty obvious what just happened. I'm using a mid 2009 macbook with Mavericks (10.9.5) and some of my library books work just fine, while others crash the machine when I try to read them (the book downloads & shows up in my library, but if I try to read it, ADE crashes & quits. I'm using the same reader, same computer, and same library account for everything I've read using ADE and I cannot find any useful help about why ADE will open some of my library books, but not others, even though they all appear to be in the same format. I was hoping that ADE would get me out from under the tyranny of Kindle and actually be a functional e-reader on my laptop, but so far, that has not been the case.

All 3 of my books transferred over without my having had to do anything at all. If you're worried about retaining books, you could try moving your ADE 4 to an external drive & confirming that your books are also there. I believe that the book information is saved elsewhere (separately from the ADE) and it should simply transfer over, but since I only had three books, all library items, I didn't have much to lose. All I can speak from is my own experience. I had to get rid of ADE 4 in order to successfully install ADE 2.0.

Mac OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) and D110 PhotoSmart Scanner not working together

My HP Scanning Software for my D110 PhotoSmart printer stopped working with the upgrade on my IMac from 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to 10.9 (Mavericks). Help! I don't want to have to use something like VueScan and abandon HP. I really need to be able to save scanned documents to disk, and right now my scanner won't let me save scanned pages.

I see that you are having issues scanning in MAC OX 10.9. The problem is that there are no drivers available for the D110 for Mavericks at the moment. The first link below will bring you to another page in the forums that will show you an alternate way of scanning.

Photoshop CS5 on Mac OSX 10.7.5 - Monitor compensation seems to not working properly.

I've never noticed it before upgrading to Lion.
Using sRGB as working color setting, if I create a new doc and fill a layer with red (255,0,0), I see Orange color, instead of red. Similarly if I use Adobe RGB 98 as working color setting. I have Photoshop CS3 installed on virtual machine on Win XP, and I don't have this issue, red is red. If I open in PS CS3 a doc created with this red layer in PS CS5, red is red. Similarly, using GIMP with Adobe RGB 98 as working space, I see a brilliant red.
If I open a doc with the same red created in Gimp, with PS CS5 and choose "don't manage color" the red remain red. If I choose either Use doc profile (Adobe 98) or convert to profile (sRGB), the same orange come out. It drives me mad!

This orange is what I see in PS.
This is what I see with monitor color preview (what I would see with monitor compensation in PS window).
Anyone got any idea of what's the problem?

Mac osx 10.5.5 stuck on gray startup screen

The problem started when I couldn't update my computer with software update because that kept quitting. Most of my applications quit when unresponsive, but I am taking that in for repair this week, so that's a different story. It mainly started yesterday when I went to turn on my computer and it took about 30-45 minutes to start. But it did start in the end.
Now, it just stays on the gray start up screen with the apple logo and a spinning loading sign (not the spinning wheel though), so I was wondering how I could get it to start up because I need it tonight.
Also, I have already tried:
-A safe Boot: When I did this, it did the safe boot but afterwards it just turned off and never restarted itself, so when I turned it back on, it was stuck yet again on that gray screen.
-Also, I reset the NVRAM / PRAM: This did nothing, it just got stuck on the screen again and soon shut down within the next half hour.
If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Have you tried booting from your install disk and running Disk Utility?
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.

Using jump menu in one frame to open page in another frame - works in IE but not Firefox

Hi,
I'm a beginner designer. I've been working to create a template for a website in which there is a banner in a frame across the top and three frames beneath - left for navigation and middle and right for content that can be compared.
I have created two jump menus in the left frame using Dreamweaver's option for it (insert/forms/jump menu): one menu to load pages in the middle frame (in the code this is 'left') and one menu to load pages in the right frame (in the code this is 'right'). Both menus use a go button.
Using Internet Explorer and allowing active content to run it works fine. In Firefox clicking 'go' does nothing however I have links in this navigation that will open a page in the middle or right ('left' and 'right') frames and if I use these the jump menus will now work.
How can I get it to work straight off?
Any feedback is welcome (except regarding not using frames!).

I am using a new Mini Mac via HDMI, I get the First gray screen then nothing else

I am a First time user of a Mac and I've gone toturn it on fr the first time today, i conected it to a HD ready LCD tv via HDMI and get the first gray 'loading' screen then an 'English' over the speekers then nothing else
Any help would be apreciated

Make sure the TV's menu is actually set to connect to that HDMI port.
Make sure the TV is 1080p and is setup to use that resolution on the HDMI port in question.

Mac mini mid 2011 boot stops at gray screen

I have a mid 2011 mini running 10.9.5 that's stopping at a gray screen. Waiting for it hasn't worked yet
On start up I get the apple logo, the wriggling worm and after a bit the screen goes black for a few seconds then comes up gray and is completely unresponsive,\.
I tried to restart, for some reason I no longer remember and Moneydance repeatedly cancelled the restart. I held the power button to take it down and now I got nothin A hard take down is the only thing that works
While I was writing this I got a flag that says it's looking for a bluetooth keyboard. It had it until I turned the laptop on. I unlocked the keyboard laptop link and it connected to the mini, but still no other response

I haven't tried it with a wired keyboard yet. I don't have one and won't before tomorrow.
The apple bluetooth keyboard will put this laptop in safe mode without a hitch. One problem is I normally have the speaker off and as a result I don't hear the chime.
I clicked on the link you posted and read the page you recommended. It's helpful, but there's a problem. If I can't get it into safe mode, I won't be able to get it into target mode either, will I?
It's not an emergency and I'm not desperate. I have two terabyte disks running in tandem on time machine so I haven't lost anything but a little more hair. Everything else is in the cloud.
If there's an answer to this short of a trip to the genius temple I'd like to know what it is.

Photo Mechanic 4.6.9 Not Working With Mac OSX

I have Mac OS 10.4.11, and suddenly Photo Mechanic 4.6.9 stopped opening a few hours ago. Last night it worked and this morning suddenly the shortcut icon disappeared and when I try to open from applications folder I get message saying this application cannot be used with Mac OSX! I need to use this application for work so I really need to get this working. Help!

Pdf printing problem Mac OSX Snow Leopard Canon MP620 Pixma printer

After upgrading Adobe Reader version 9.3 to version 10 I cannot print pdf documents using Canon MP620 Pixma printer. Mac OSX Snow Leopard operating system. All other prining works OK. Never had problem before Error message "pstopdffilter/ pstocupsraster failed with err no. 13" comes up. What has happened and how do I put it right?
