4.1 doesn't work with cmss off, is this nor

I have an xfi extreme music full installation 4. speaker with updates, on a gigabyte nforce4 mobo fresh install of xp:
I have a 4. speaker system, with cmss off i only get sound out of my front left and right, is that normal? does cmss have to be on for 4. to function? but oddly enough the speaker test with both cmss on and off gives me a signal on all 4 speakers. I never had to have any special settings on my old sb li've 5. soundcard to get them all to work except set the card to 4. which the xfi is set to as well. Please help this is driving me insane!

First of all: I LIKE THE X-FI!!! Wonderful sounds come from it !
I seem to get about the same problems. When I connect my 4. set to the Digital I/O port and walk through the speaker wizard I only get the possibility to connect a headphone or 2/2. speaker set. I somehow managed to switch it digitally to 4., but both front and rear audio is played through the front speakers.
Solution for me was to connect the speakers the analog way, but that does only comfort 50% of the problem since I really like digital I/O since my good old SB Li've!.
Has anybody a solution for this?

I've to use a interactive form which has an interactive button that is supposed to send that form by email. If I open that PDF with my iPhone or iPad with the PDF Expert App, it works perfectly, but for any strange reason, when I try to open that same PDF in my Mac with Adobe Reader or Acrobat pro, that button doesn't do anything.
Can this be a configuration error?

The problem is deeper than that. It's not reader. Now the same form I was creating in LifeCycle Designer ES2 yesterday, with the actions working perfectly, no longer work. None of the actions are working.
Could it be realted to me trying to set the default version compatibility to Adobe 7. It gave me warnings, so I set it back to 9.
Any help would be appreciated.

Seconds_between doesn't work with variables in SQLScript

There is a sample procedure:
create procedure testproc
language SQLSCRIPT

l_curtime timestamp;
l_timedelta integer;

select systimestamp into l_curtime from dual;
select seconds_between(:l_curtime, systimestamp) into l_timedelta from dual;
end;
It should return seconds between 2 timestamp values.
The code returns an error:
Could not execute 'create procedure testproc language SQLSCRIPT as l_curtime timestamp; l_timedelta integer; begin ...'

With «time» and «date» datatypes that's the same. So, seconds_between doesn't work with SQLScript variable (in this example, l_curtime). Is it a normal behaviour or supposed to be a bug?

I can confirm same behavior - using variable inside seconds_between function leads to error. If you put there static string it is ok.
Of course you can always create "dummy" table (having 1 row with 1 column) where you will store the result of first call and then you will reference in second. But of course it is not that clean and it will be slower (especially if called many times).
But I would suggest to wait few more days - there should be SP03 released and everything can be different.

I have truble with firefox 5 because the plugin I want to use doesn't work with 5 yet, just 4. The plugin is Firebug.

I can't use the plugin "Firebug" because it doesn't work with Firefox 5 yet. Because of that I want to download Firefox 4 instead of 5, but I can't find it anywhere. Just the third version, and 5 off course.

Go buy yourself a iPhone 5. Sync your iPhone 3GS to iTunes on you computer so you have a back up ready to put on the iPhone 5. If you want you can update your iPhone 3GS with iTunes on your computer, but this is not necessary.

WebScan doesn´t work with iPhone browser

The C4780 web interface for scanning is very practical because no driver installation on computer is required for scanning. Just point any web browser to its internal web server, start the scanning process and download the scaned image as a regular element on a web page, all using web standards, right?
Well, wrong for the iPhone browser.
For some reason, the C4780 (and probably other HP multifunction firmware) has incomaptible/untested Javascript/HTML that doesn´t work with the iPhone browser.
On preview action I´m getting a question mark box.
On scan action - where a new browser window would open on a desktop - I get nothing.
Please fix that. It could be very useful for me since I can simply scan stuff directly to my iPhone without having to open a computer.

On the iPhone, go to Settings...Safari...Turn Blocked PopUps off.
Worked for me with a PhotoSmart C4700.
It would be even nicer to have a simple iPhone app instead of using Safari.

Is it true MS Office doesn't work with Lion?

I just purchased OSX Lion and while it was downloading I began to read the reviews. I saw multiple comments that MS Office doesn't work with Lion. I forced a shutdown on my MacBook Pro because I couldn't see any other way to stop the LIon download. Now with it back on, the download is paused. I don't want to resume it until I find out if it's true about office. Any help?

Len , MS2008 does require Rosetta. Ms2011 does not.
W7ox, I tried 2 different licenses. I have 12 licenses here on site. I resorted to reading it straight off the box and still no joy. Very strange!

The DB tools doesn't work with Microsoft SQL

I am tring to write series of waveforms to a database. The DB tools doesn't work with Microsoft SQL, but when i replace the SQL with Access, it works fine. I have to use SQL in the application.
Any advice pls?

Right off hand I would say the problem is that you are connecting through ODBC. Try the native SQL Server driver, your connect string should define the provider as "SQLOLEDB.1".

Hanns-g 19" doesn't work with macbook...

I have a Hanns 19" external monitor, which I have been using with my Aluminium PowerBookG4 laptop with no problems.
I also have a Black MacBook, running 10.4.8. Yesterday I purchased the Apple Mini-DVI to DVI adaptor and plugged it in to the macbook and external monitor, but I cannot get it working properly...
The external is identified by the system preferences as HW191D. It only works with mirroring off (with mirroring on the screen appears dead, even though it is powered up) The only resolution that I can *kind of* get working is 1024X768. The display looks terrible, and application windows (like FCP are just blue static) and it is plain buggy - moving the cursor off screen will often result in the screen going off again. Trying any other resolution results in a dead screen.
Plugging the monitor back into the G4 gives me that great crisp extra real-estate I'm so used to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm feeling really cramped on the little MacBook Screen

I'm up and running!
I downloaded SwitchResX, and fiddled with various resolutions - the one (and only one) that finally worked is 1440 x 900, 59.9 Hz. This resolution now also appears in the System Preferences ( I could swear it wasn't available before So I uninstalled SwitchResX and voila! - Mirroring and extended desktop both work great - external looks perfect... and I have my real-estate back!

Okay, here's an update: the DVI to ADC adapter does work with the Apple displays that I have tried, but it won't work with the Formac. I have tried multiple time to contact them, but to no avail... they don't even respond to threats of posting my opinion of them, which is this:
DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM FORMAC! They make quality products, but their customer service is a big time joke! They won't take care of you.

You are going to get nowhere quick with the 6.1 utility in Mountain Lion if this is the only OS you have available.
Look up how to install 5.6 utility under ML. At least then you can see printers. That is assuming you are trying to use USB.
Has this worked ever on Mountain Lion? Did you download the drivers for that printer for ML?
Plug it into a computer directly.. does it work? If it doesn't work locally it sure will not work via the network.

Quicklook doesn't work with .avi files

Hello, i've got a little problem right here on my mac. The thing is that I used to have Snow Leopard as a OS and quicklook used to work great, it opened all the extensions I used to work with. The thing change when I format my HDD and installed a clean copy of Lion OS. Now quicklook works fine as it used to but not any more with .avi files. I remember that this feature was working great on my previous OS, and it's really important for me to find a solution because quicklook is an absolutely amazing feature of our Macs.
I've tryed to download plugins, restoring permissions or even trying it with a guest user, but no success.
Please help me. If you need more info about specs or something i'll be glad to give them to you.

Going to the local Apple store this morning...
My problem is not uncommon as the board is showing signs of this happening to many others as well. That is where I found the restore and reboot information to try to solve the issue of crashing apps.
I understand that Apple will not "give away the cow", but letting iPhone users know that the problems they are having are being addressed by Apple is a little more comforting than nothing at all. Other wise, all the apps in world are useless and even more importantly worthless, if a person has to reset/reboot/reload just to get them to work.
IF Apple can not address the basic problems with todays iPhone apps, why should one believe that the iPhone 3.0 OS is any better? Using a PC comparison, which is better, XP or Vista. If the current iPhone OS of 2.2. what ever is not working that well (as related to down loaded apps and iTunes), will OS 3.0 be any better?
The waste of time I refer to is in going to the apps store and downloading the apps... Again why by apps if the free version does not work?
