4.2.1 breaks RAW format (Olympus E-410 - maybe other formats)

Pre 4.2.1 I was able to import RAW files from my Olympus E-410 (Camera Kit and USB cable) and view them, edit them in Photogene, transfer them using Transfer, etc. I was also able to preview them and send them via USB to Aperture (2).
Now I am unable to edit them in Photogene (just crashes before selecting them, though I can use PhotoPad to select and edit), I can't transfer them via Transfer, and I can’t preview them or even see names or other metadata in Aperture prior to transfer (though they do come over OK). Is the preview function broken in 4.2.1 or what?

A date for E-410 RAW support? Your guess is as good as mine.
I'm purchasing an E-510 once they're available through B&H and hope that OS X & Aperture support it quickly. I'm very happy with my E-500, but the E-510 looks like it will address a few shortcomings of this otherwise fine camera.
In the mean time, Can anyone suggest a workflow that would let me use TIFFs created with Olympus's RAW converter and then replace them with the RAW files once they're supported? I'd rather not have to individually lift and stamp the metadata from hundreds of images.

Olympus E-3 RAW Format

I downloaded the trail version of Aperture 2.0 today to use with my Olympus E-3. It looks like a great interface, but it does not support the RAW format of the new professional camera by Olympus. Is the program geared to Nikon and Canon users only? I'm glad I didn't spend $200 to find this out and have to deal with major hassles returning the software.

The simple answer is "no", Ap2 is NOT a Canikon program only...I too am an E3 owner that is disappointed that v2 does not yet support my excellent camera; but, I am also a very happy Ap2 user who has developed a very workable, efficient process using the program starting with my E1 and E330...both of which have native RAW support in Ap2. The market share numbers for the Oly products (thus far) mean that the limited resources for this upgrade were focussed on Canikon, as well as Hassy and Leaf, pro tools that have long been requested by users.
The "take away" here is that the E3 WILL eventually be supported (the RAW engines are getting better and better in Ap2), and there is a good work-around with dng support. Some complain about the extra step required to convert to dng before ingesting into Ap2, but I find the workflow and powerful tools in the application to far outweigh the inconvenience of the conversion.
Before you spend your $200 for LR or something else, get some ORF's into Ap2 and play with it....you may be willing to wait for a while when you get a better understanding of the power and intelligent design of Aperture. With due respect, this is a long-term decision that will help you be more successful in your photography - choose carefully

Ich wish strongly Olympus E-5 Support for Raw-Format for Ligtroom 3.3,... and i wait since ages for Lens Correction Profiles of Zuiko Lenses ;-)) There are plenty of Olympus users who yearn for that :-)

Raw Format from Olympus E-10 not support

Does anyone know how to import this raw format (Olympus E-10) into iphoto. The apple web site says it is compatibly but iphoto says it is not. Thanks for any help.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Olympus Micro 4/3 RAW Format not recognized in Photoshop

What do I need to install in Photoshop to recognized Olympus Micro 4/3 RAW Format?

It turns out that all I needed to do was download the latest version of the RAW update 6.6 for Photoshop 5.5 which includes the latest RAW formats for a number of newer released camera models from many camera companies. My camera model was listed in the Photoshop 6.3 RAW updates - Olympus Micro 4/3 P3 camera model. I downloaded and installed the latest digital camera RAW format update and installed it on my computer for Photoshop 5.5 and it worked perfectly allowing me to open the Olympus Micro 4/3 P3 camera model RAW format pictures, view and correct the photos in Photoshop.
I actually found the answer in Photoshop HELP, it just took me a while till I phrased my HELP Search properly for Photoshop.

Olympus raw format

Can you process olympus raw format files in lightroom?

Not all ORF files are the same, just like all of Nikon's NEF files are different when coming from different cameras. Each new Olympus model that comes out requires some work by Adobe engineers to support the ORF files that camera produces.
LR's working with a particular flavour of ORF doesn't imply that it will work with a different flavour. You really have to find the camera model in question in the Adobe list of supported cameras to know that its raw files are usable by Lightroom.

RAW formats not supported

Is it possible to know Apple has the intention to support file formats like the ones of the Olympus SP series? I own an Olympus SP-350 (it came out one year ago) but MacOS doesn't still support it (i.e. neither iPhoto nor Aperture). Since Adobe supports the format since last january (and now it's november) I almost lost my hopes about. I like Aperture and I'd surely buy it but... for the moment it's useless for my camera.

I agree it's frustrating not to know whether Aperture ever will support your specific camera's raw format. In addition to various DSLRs, I use an Epson R-D1 (a professional rangefinder camera using the Leica M lensmount, fairly popular with wedding and documentary photographers) and the only thing that's stopping me from standardizing on Aperture is that I don't know if Epson's .ERF format will ever will be supported. (Having to convert to 16-bit TIFFs seems to me to negate most of the advantages of using raw-based management software.)
I understand that unlike Adobe (which I've read licenses an open-source library for much of its raw support) Apple fine-tunes and optimizes its own raw conversion code for specific cameras, and I agree that it makes more sense for Apple to concentrate its engineering resources on the most popular DSLRs and digital backs.
But I think it might benefit a lot of users if Apple would periodically publish a "roadmap" indicating current camera models which it tentatively intends to support at some future date.

RAW format compatibility with iPhoto

I am looking for a new camera that supports RAW. It is my understanding each camera manufacturer uses a different file extension on their RAW images implying there is a difference between the file formats. The list that Apple supplies for cameras that can be used with iPhoto is not up to date as many newer cameras do not show up on their list.
Would it not be safe to assume that if, for example, Canon comes out with a new camera with RAW format support their file type which is .CRW would automatically work with iPhoto. The same would be for Nikon, Olympus and the rest. If the new camera uses the same file extension as one of the older cameras by the same manufacturer on Apples compatibility list the new camera will be compatible.

ISO data in RAW format

I am having problems obtaining my ISO data in the Exif metadata in Photoshop Elements 4 WinXP when I shot in my camera's RAW format (Olympus ORF format). I get the data when I shoot in jpeg but not in RAW. In reviewing the technical issues part of this forum it seems that this is a known problem, at least for Olympus and Nikon, but I was wondering if there were any tips, tricks or work-arounds to get this data from within PSE. The only work around recommended by Olympus is to use their software to view my Efix data, as that does show the ISO settings when exposed, but that increases the number of steps that I need to follow in processing my RAW images.
Thanks in advance if anyone has some good workarounds.

I shoot a lot in dark light settings and am always changing my ISO settings. Sometimes go too far and get too much noise, so I like to look at what I used to better refine my settings. I use to write all this down which was a "pita" but had hoped to not do it. I can get this info using the standard Olympus software but that just creates another step but is one less that I have to do doing the shoot.

Digital camera RAW formats supported - Canon EOS 7D

Does anyone know if and when Canon's 7D RAW images will be supported by Aperture 2.1? I just got the 7D and Aperture is not recognizing the RAW images. What is the typical lag time for Apple to add new camera model RAW files?

How about whining about their still not having issued a RAW update to handle the Olympus E-620. That was released the first of May.
I realize there aren't the number of buyers as some of the Nikons and Canons, but come on...can adding a RAW format to the library be that big a task? I'm sure that most of Aperture's customers buy new cameras with some regularity (since the technology is changing so fast). Why routinely aggravate them by taking a long time to add the new cameras?
I getting REALLY tired of exporting jpgs and then reimporting them just so I can see more than a thumbnail (I have the camera save jpgs and RAWs simultaneously, but Aperture won't show the jpegs if there is a RAW version as well).

Is there a way I can convert raw files from olympus sp350 camera with iphoto.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Support of RAW formats are defined by the system. I've not found any indication of the Olympus SP 350 camera being supported, regardless of system.
You'll have to convert those file to the .dng (digital negative) format with the Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh and use them. iPhoto does recognize that format and uses it as it would a RAW format.

I just purchased an Olympus Stylus 1 and iPhoto says it does not support the Olympus ORF raw format. Can I download it somewhere?

You can request of Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback
Some times the Mfg software will convert RAW to JPEG so you can import the JPEGs into iPhoto - and sometimes Adobe will support RAW before or different than Apple if you have any Adobe products

I have a new canon d7 mark ii and I can not get the raw picture to download in lightroom 6. Lightroom says it does not recognize the raw format. Is there a solution?

Lightroom 6 will not open raw files from my new canon d7 mark II camera. The program says "The files are not recognized by the raw format supported in Lightroom. The Lightroom 6 is up to date. Is there a quick fix to this issue?
