4.2 and remote app problems?

I am running 4.2 gm on iPad. If I go to the home screen and then back to remote app it won't connect or work properly. I have to open multitasking bar and end the remote app completely before I can use it again. Anyone else have these problems?

I have the same problem with my iphone (4.1) and atv2.
sometimes it looses the connection to atv2, don't no why!
i have to reconnect the iphone to the network and wait some minutes, then it's working again.
(my router: apple airport (newest generation)
with my ipad there s no problem at all!

  • Remote Control and Remote View Problem

    Hi,
I work at a High School running Netware 6.0 SP5 and Zen works 4.01 ir7.
Remote Control and Remote View works great but I noticed one problem.
We have a logo of the school that is forced down on to the desktop when a
user logs in through group policies. This logo works perfect for the
desktop wall paper and loads every time a user logs in.
When I Remote Control or Remote View a computer the users desktop wall
paper turns from the logo being forced down through group policies to the
desktop to a blue desktop wall paper.
I would prefer the desktop wall paper staying the schools logo when I
Remote Control or Remote View because if the desktop wall paper changes to
the blue color I mentioned above when I Remote Control or Remote View the
users computer, they will know that someone is taking over their computer
which sometimes we dont want them knowing.
We have Windows 98SE computer running Novell Client 3.4 and we have some
computers running Windows XP Professional SP1 and Windows XP Professional
    SP2 both running Novell Client 4.91 SP2.
The Remote Control and Remote View problem of the desktop wall paper
changing on the users computer occurs on all operating systems mentioned
    above.
Is there a solution to my above problem? When Remote Controlling and
Remote Viewing someone's computer I don't want the desktop wall paper to
    change.
    Thanks!

  • HT1947 Apple TV (2nd gen) and Remote App - no more connection

Since updating to the latest version of Apple TV (2nd gen) and Remote App for iPhone or iPad I can't connect any more. Worked for a short moment after restarting a few times but now no more. Must be a new bug, because it always worked before updating to iOS 5.1!
I tried with an iPhone 4S and and iPad 2.

Hi and thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately this didn't solve the issue. I tried almost everything now:
    - I rebooted the WIFI rooter
    - I resettled the apple TV
    - I removed the cables of apple tv for a minute (I have a switch anyway to cut power off completely)
    - I killed the remote app on the iPhone and iPad a few times
    - I removed my account settings both on the i-devices and apple tv for home sharing a few times and activated them again
All of the devices are in the same wifi network and every device can connect perfectly to the internet.
The screen on the iPhone/iPad always just shows that I should activate home sharing on iTunes on the computer or on the apple tv with my account (what I did as mentioned above)
Any ideas, someone from Apple maybe?
    Any ideas appreciated!
    Markus

  • IPhone and Remote App

I have both an iPhone and an iPad operating on iOS 4.3.  I have noticed that on the iPhone using the Remote App and selecting the Airplay icon that is in the bottom right corner of the screen I can select multiple Airplay outputs.  I have found out that trying to select the "Computer" selection makes this go from a Mutliple slection option to a Single Airplay option, I can not select the Computer as an option. Tapping the circle next to the Computer picture now has the same function that selecting Single/Multiple icon does.  I can unselect the computer if it was already selected (in iTunes/ mutiple speaker window).  The described function works correctly on the iPad Remote App.
    Anyone have anysuggestion?

Ok I,ve solved my own problem.
After hours of pinging, researching, swearing, you name it - I did it.
    Solution.
Pulled out all the power leads on Apple Tv, time capsule and router. Left all devices off for 10 mins. Deleted Remote App off iPhone. Downloaded a new version of Remote App.
Turned on Router - waited for it to be in ready mode.
Plugged back in Apple Tv and and time capsule.
Yep, you guessed what was coming. Everything worked perfectly.
I must have screwed up when first setting up Remote App and Apple Tv. This must have led to confusing the system. As when starting the new Remote App I did nor not have to pair with either iTunes library or the Apple Tv.

  • Itunes using Airport Express 802.11n and Remote app no longer staying connected

I'm running Windows 7. I find that my Remote app either keeps dropping Home Sharing (unless I toggle Home Sharing off/on in Itunes) or if it finds my library it cannot open it through the app. I can play music through my Airport, but it's the remote app that can't seem to connect with my iTunes. I should add that the remote app has the same breakdown on both my iphone 6 and ipad mini 2. So it's not the app, but some problem along the line (Airport express? router? Itunes?) Any suggestions?

    OK, thanks for the info.
You'll need to jot down a setting that the AirPort Extreme (AEBS) is using in order to give the AirPort Express (AX).
Open AirPort Utility, select your AEBS and click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Jot down the setting that you see for Wireless Security
    Close AirPort Utility
Hold in the reset button on the AirPort Express until you see the amber light begin to blink more quickly and then release.
Temporarily, position the AX near your AirPort Extreme and connect an ethernet cable from your computer to the AirPort Express
Open AirPort Utility, select the AX and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab below the icons to name your device, establish a device password (write this down) and adjust time settings
    Click the Wireless tab
Wireless Mode = Join a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Exact same name as your AirPort Extreme wireless network
Enter a check mark next to Enable Ethernet clients
Wireless Security = Exact same setting as your AEBS that you wrote down
Wireless Password = Same password that your AEBS network is using
    Confirm Password
Click Update at the lower right and the AX will restart. You can close AirPort Utility and disconnect the ethernet cable once you see the message that the settings have been saved to the AX.
After 30-45 seconds, you should have a green light on the AX. Now you can move the AX where it is needed and power it back up again. The ethernet port on the AX is enabled in this type of configuration, so you should be able to connect an ethernet device and connect. You may need to restart the device and/or the entire network to get everything synchronized.

  • ITunes wireless sync and Remote App not working in in unison.

I'm running iTunes on a Windows 8 machine, and I'm having issues getting both these above mentioned applications working together.
I did have some issues in the beginning with setting up wireless sync for my iPhone, but these were fixed by restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service that runs in the background.
The remote application seemed to have similar issues in the beginning, so I tried restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service - and this seemed to help, but then wireless sync faulted again.
After having a bit more of a read, I made sure UPnP was enabled across the board - in my PC and router, SSDP on my PC was changed to automatic mode, all bonjour services were confirmed running and there and I couldn't see any funky rules in my firewall that may be causing me issues.
I did find though, that both the remote app and the wireless sync functions operate on the same ports; TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353. I'd imagine if this would be a problem, it would have been picked up - but I can't find any solid info to disregard this thought. Can anyone confirm or deny that this could be an issue?
    Any other ideas? Cheers.

  • RDWeb and Remote App access - Server 2012 R2

    Hi Folks,
Here is my scenario. I currently have 1 RDS 2K12 server with all roles but licensing installed. I have configured the gateway to use server.externaldomain.com as its address. I have also set the SSL port in the gateway config to use something other than
the standard 443 port. I have the firewall set to forward the non standard SSL port, the standard SSL port and the UPD port of 3391 to the RDS server.
I can get to the RDweb page and log in with no problems, but i can't connect successfully when i launch a remote app. it simply gives me an error saying that the gateway address is incorrect. When i set the gateway back to use the standard SSL port, things
    work fine.
Has anyone gotten a non standard SSL port to work?
    Thanks.
    Colin Stewart

    Hi Colin,
Based on my research, Remote Desktop Protocol version 7.x does not support changing default SSL port for RD Gateway Server.
You may verify this by connecting from a Remote Desktop Client that supports Remote Desktop Protocol 8.x.

  • ITunes and Remote app not pairing

I'm having an incredibly frustrating problem with the Remote app and I'm wondering if anyone knows what to do.
The app has worked fine in the past. I've paired it to my iTunes library successfully and controlled it.
Recently, it has stopped working. When I try to re-pair it with iTunes, one of two things will happen:
1 - I will enter the passcode and iTunes will accept it, and then on the iPhone, I just get the spinning icon and then it times out. Most times when this happens, the library name on the iPhone is blank, even though I have a name set in iTunes. In the past, when this worked right, it had the right name; or
2 - I will enter the passcode in iTunes and it will get stuck on "Verifying Remote Passcode" in iTunes. Then it times out and I'm left with no connection.
So far, in attempting to solve the problem, I've:
+ installed the latest version of iTunes
+ deleted and reinstalled the Remote app on the iPhone
+ rebooted the iPhone and my iMac, and also reset the iPhone (hold down both buttons until the Apple logo appears).
+ changed the iMac's firewall settings to "set access to specific services and applications," added iTunes to the list, and set it to allow incoming connections
+ used the "Forget all remotes" option in the iTunes settings and then tried to pair again.
I've searched google and these message boards and found plenty of others with the same problem, but no real solution (some of the things I did above came from suggestions I saw in these other threads, but none of it worked for me).
The iTunes library and the iPhone are on the same network and in iTunes, the "Look for iPhone and iPod Touch Remotes" option is checked.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

I really can't believe this question has not been answered yet. I'm having the exact same problem others have described. I posted on my blog regarding this issue with screen shots of the error I've been getting: http://ben.kwinix.com/blog/2009/11/20/oh-apple-what-does-this-mean/
My network is more complicated than most: I have an Airport Extreme running a 5 GHz 'N' network and a Netgear routher running a standard 'G' network. The Airport is the primary device and acts as the DHCP server; the Netgear is set up as an extender. I use the Airport to connect my iMac, MacBook, and Apple TV and the Netgear to connect my iPhone and any other 'G' devices that come into the house. All devices when connected to either router are provided an IP address by the Airport in the "10.0.1.x" format. Also, all devices say that the "router" is 10.0.1.1, which is the Airport.
When attempting to connect to any device on the network (either iTunes library or the Apple TV) with the Remote app from the iPhone, I typically get an error regarding a firewall or network settings. Everything is fully updated - latest versions of firmware, OSes, etc.
I've followed the steps outlined in an Apple support article (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1741) without success. Someone out there has to have an answer!

  • IPod Touch - Apple Remote App Problem

    Hi there,
I am having problems with getting the Apple Remote App to work with my computer.
I have installed the app on my iPod. I go to pair it with my computer and it doesnt show up in iTunes. I have the latest itunes.
My iPod will connect to my laptop (running vista)
I have disabled the firewall, and that still hasn't helped.
My computer is wired into the router using an ethernet cable.
My iPod is connected to the router using the wireless.
My computer is on a domain. Could that be some of the problem?
Thanks for the help in advance

  • TS1741 Apple TV remote- no physical remote and remote app not working. ?

Hi I've just got a new wireless network and my Apple TV is not connected to it, error message  when I go to tv channel for Apple TV.  Error telling me to go to settings etc and connect which is fine.  Issue is I have no physical remote and  I had the remote app downloaded but it is not connecting to Apple TV, keeps prompting for. Home sharing which I have/had already activated but won't allow me to interact with Apple TV .. How do I get Apple TV connected to new network and get remote working??

You need the hardware remote.  You can not enable the remote app without it.  You can buy a replacement for $20.

  • Multiple Id's for Apple TV and remote app.

My roommate and I have an apple tv, we have separate apple ids and we both have home sharing on and he set up the apple tv with his apple id and we both have the remote app and it only works for him, what do i need to do for it to work for me?

    Thanks Griff
I have run through this - rebooted router, checked all looking at the same itunes account, turn off firewall, checked ports (3689 which I think is what itunes/apple tv use is 'listening'), still no joy. I only have the one wireless network, everything connects to that OK - iphone and ipad can access my two apple tv's using the remote app OK - but none of these can see my iTunes library on my PC.
Any others suggestions would be great..... thanks.

  • TS1741 Remote App Problems

I can connect my iPhone 4 to my iTunes via the Remote app, but my iPad 3rd Gen refuses to connect.  Any reasons?

    Hi, thanks for the response.
What more info would you like?
I have iTunes installed on an iMac running Snow Leopard.  I have an iPhone 4 (work issue) although my iTunes account is on both the iPad (3rd Gen) and the iPhone 4.  When I installed the Apple Remore app on the iPad and the iPhone I added the app generated passcode to iTunes and the iPhone synced immediatedly, whilst the iPad didn't sync at all and for some reaosn couldn't see the iTunes Library.  I deleted the app on the iPad, reinstalled it, and tried again - the iPad refuses to see the iTunes library on my iMac.
I only have one Network (TalkTalk) in my house, and the same wireless router was used by both the iPad and the iPhone (and the iMac) to connect wirelessly to the internet.
    Thanks

  • Turned off homesharing and remote app unpaired? Cannot use it.

    Hello,
I tried to correct the Homesharing and Itunes Store issue on my Apple TV G2, it kept wanting my old Apple ID, so following instructions on here, I turned off homesharing in "Computers" on AppleTV, and instead of letting me put in my current Apple ID, it unpaired from the App Remote on my Ipad. Thinking it was an app issue, I uninstalled and restalled the App again (the older verison, not IOS 7). When I opened it, the Apple TV icon was no longer there, and when I sign in to homesharing, there is no option for Apple TV. I no longer have the original remote, which is why I've been using the Remote app. I can't control Apple TV, now. Anything I can do without buying another one? =(

Unfortunately, I think you'll need an new remote.
