4:3 stills in a 16:9 project

I have a 16:9 project to which I want to add a slideshow. The stills appear OK during editing but the people look fat when the DVD (16:9 project) is played. I know how to adjust each still's aspect ratio but there are 161 of them. Doing each one individually is out of the question. Is there some sort of global operation in FCE, iMovie, or Photoshop I can use to adjust the aspect ratio of the stills? Thanks

I'm not sure if this feature in FCE or not, and I'm not near an FCE system right now to check, but in FCP you can correct one, then copy it.  Select (highlight) all others, right-click on one and choose Paste Attributes.  When the Paste Attributes window opens, click on Distort.

iMovie on your Mac  has nothing to do with iCloud storage.  Download and use Find Any File  to search for your iMovie project.  FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't, like invisible folders, packages and system folders.  If there a file with your file name on it anywhere on the hard drive FAF will find it.
Do you have Time Machine enabled backing up to an external HD?  This situation is exactly what TM is good at.  It makes hourly backups so you can go back to find and restore the missing file.  All HDs crash at some time or another and having a good backup strategy is the only protection against that.

  • Combine stills or videos from different projects

I have just "shot" a wedding with 3 camcorders.  I am using iMovie11 and at the end of the whole video
I like to put something called. "Memorable Moments" which is the ending section filled with 1 second clips.
I have broken the whole "shoot" into 3 parts: PreCeremony, Wedding Ceremony and Reception. I have been
"stilling" a variety of Moments within these three projects to combine at the end of the video (at the end of the Reception
section of the video).  How do I get the still from the 3 projects to the place where I want them - at the end of the Reception
    part of the video???
Thanks in advance for any help.

sounds like a trivial task, but unfortunately isn't 'expected' by the concept of iM.
you can not 'share' parts (as stills or titles) of a Projects to another.
    you have mainly two options:
    • export Project 1-3, use the free tool Mpeg Streamclip to extract the stills from it, re-import stills into P3.
    • create new stills by adding a short selection of the Event in use, create freeze, erase clip ...-

  • Getting poor still image quality in SD project on CS4

hey guys. sorry if you heard this one, but i havent seen anything addressing this.
i am using CS4 to edit a Standard def project and i am running into a problem with still images being choppy and distorted.
I tried all options to produce a better quality, but i get poor quality in the timeline monitor even after i render preview. the ouput
when i export is equally bad.
what i did find out was that if i switched projects in favor of an HD 720 the images are crisp on import and look good.
am i missing something. i assumed the images looked bad because they werent rendered and since i didnt need to render to edit i didnt want to lose the time, so now i'm stuck with those images, or i have to scrap the project and start again in hd and i prefer not to. i would have done it in hd, but the footage i was given was SD. anyways i would appreciate some help. thanks!
btw i've tried to export in both MS DV and WMV
i have tried importing psd png and jpg i have used all these in the past in pro2 with no problem

still images being choppy and distorted.
    Can we see a sample?

  • Trial to Full Version: Still have black bar across project...why?

I just downloaded the full version of Premiere Elements 9 for my Mac.  The project I had created with the trial version I was led to believe would cease to have the black bar across the video once I downloaded and installed the full version.  The black bar still exists.  Is there something else I need to do to get it to go away?
    Thanks,
    -John

    Hi
Seleting "Timeline > Delete Rendered Files" hasn't worked for me - the black line is still there.   Now I've done it, the "delete rendered files" option has greyed out so obviously Elements think it's done what it can.
Im using Premiere Elements 9 on Windows 7.   Could there be anything else I need to do?
    Other info:
I'm using A Dell Pavilion hP Laptop with i7 Q720 1.60 GHz and 4GB RAM
My project uses MPG4 fles covnerted to AVI format but still with MPG4 codecs in (haven't figured how to sort that one out yet despite great help here...)
My Project is set up as DV - NTSC.
Workflow - haven't used any transitions or anything. One single mp3 on one track (although slip up 8 or 9 times to stop slippage), with hundreds of 2-3 second video clips (as above) on 3 video tracks.
Anything else I can tell you?
Really hope you can help as I've just spent about 8 hours on this project!
[EDIT - could it have anything to do with the fact that I have been rendering clips as I went along (I had to as I was having trouble with file formats). If so, there is there any way of "re-doing" a project, or do I have to start again from sratch?   I guess the auto-saves won't help me as I've been rendering every 30 secs or so.]
[EDIT 2 - problem solved (after a very worried hour!).   I removed all files from the organiser and then brought them all back in, and that did the trick]
    Cheers

  • Inspector shows stills as 60fps even though project is 25fps?

My Inspector shows stills as 60fps even though my project is set for 25fps and a couple of other weird things appear.
    1. My still default has been set to 5 seconds, yet photos appear in the Event Library as 10 seconds. When I click on one, half of it (5 seconds) is highlighted and can be dragged to the project/timeline.
    2. However, if I select several photos simultaneously, the whole 10 seconds of each is highlighted and when dragged to the timeline each one is 10 seconds, not the 5 seconds I want.
How can I batch drag pictures so that they have a duration of 5 seconds?
Just in case the title is not clear  .  .  .  .

Putting 2 a3c's on a timeline invites problems. Export as a single audio file.
This did the trick.  I deleted the two separate files, extracted the AC3 streams from the 2 source files and combined them into a single AC3 files (used eac3to for this), then added that to the project and placed on the timeline.  Now it no longer transcodes the audio.

  • Animating still photos - deadline for this project is Friday 7/14!!  HELP!!

I am working on a project and can't quite figure out the
details. I have 5 images with text included and I simply want to
have each image fade in and fade out to reveal the next image - I
was able to accomplish this by creating a layer for each image and
applying timeline effects. I have 2 questions: 1. How do I adjust
the timing of the fade in and fade out - I've tried manipulating
the effect duration and the ease but the images still switch too
quickly. 2. Can I apply both drop shadow effect and transition
    effect to an image?

Here is what you need to do:
    1) Have each image in a different layer
    2) Have each image embedded in a movie clip (click image, hit
    F8)
    3) Click on the image, got to the properties panel, go to
filter options and create the drop shadow you want
    4) In each layer you will have a total of 4 key frames:
    - The first one in the layer, where you want the picture to
enter and the fade in to start
    - A second one about 5-10 frames later
    - A Third one, about 5-10 frames before the the picture is
over, and you want the fade out to start
    - The last one, where the picture/fade ends
    5) Once you have this setup, go to the first key frame where
the picture will appear. Click on the image, go to properties
panel, click on the "color" drop down box, and go to Alpha. Set the
alpha to 0%. Repeat process with the final keyframe.
    6) Now, on your first and third key frames in that layer, add
    "Motion Tween." Voila, fading picture.
    7) Move the key frames in each layer around so that one layer
starts about 2-3 frames before the next one ends, and you will have
a nice a cross fade effect. If you want the fades to be
longer...add more frames after the first key frame, and before the
    last one.
**Note: It is easiest to clear all previous key frames before
starting over when doing this...Otherwise you get inconsistencies
    or really strange situations/animations.
    Hope this helps!

  • Audio/still photos in an iMovie project

Hi, I am working on a project where I will videotape someone speaking. I hope to have some of the project be video of her speaking, as well as still photos and other video included. BUT I would like to have the person speaking the entire time. In other words, she will be sharing a story and at times I will show photos and/or video of what she is talking about. What is the easiest way to do this? Do I just videotape the whole thing and then extract audio and delete clips and put the still photos in where I've deleted clips? Will that work and keep the audio on track when I return to the person speaking? Thanks for your help!!!!

Yep you got it! You can leave the video, just use "paste over at playhead"

  • Project Manager - Creating Trimmed Project w Handles, still leaving me with Huge Project

I'm trying to create a trimmed version of a completed Premiere Pro project, via "Project Manager...",
but I'm confused why I'm not getting a more condensed resulting project size.
This project consists of a completed 3.5 minute edit of a 2-camera conference video.
The majority of clips in the sequence are drawn from several hour-long clips in the master media folder, but the project I'm trying to archive and share
is this 3.5 minute highlight/digest piece.  I was hoping I could send a trimmed project (sequence) to my finishing editor, without having to transfer all the media, and all the unused parts of some of these long clips,
and was under the assumption that "trimming" would accomplish this, however trying to make a trimmed version with handles in Project Manager, is still leaving me with a 90+gig project.
Exporting this sequence when selecting "Match Sequence Settings" produces a 694.7 MB .mpeg movie, culled from .mxf files (PMW300) and .mts files (C100).
    What am I missing?
I also attempted to create an AE project by importing this PP project (1 selected sequence) into AE,
and reducing/consolidating and collect files, and was still being left with a 90+gig project (see attached)
Would love any insight or workflow tips!
    (settings in Project Manager)
("Collect Files" folder from an AE export of the same project, creating 96+gig footage folder for 3.5min .mpeg video )

As Richard noted, Create New Trimmed Project is limited in the formats that it supports/trims. All MPEG formats will be copied in their entirety. i.e.: not trimmed.
Starting with Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1), Consolidate and Transcode was added, which may suit your needs. More information can be found at:

  • How to reverse the order of a bunch of still images in an iMovie Project

    Hello,
I'm making a stop motion animation using iMovie'09. I need to reverse the order of a few hundred of the images that I imported.
Does anybody know a good and time efficient way of doing this?
    Cheers,
    Onur.

Ok, here's how have I done:
    1. Removed those images from the movie project
    2. Created a new project and added all the images which I want to reverse the order of
    3. Set the durations of the images as same as those in my first project
    4. Exported the project as a movie file
    5. Added this short movie file to the first project
    6. From clip adjustments menu, checked 'reverse'.
There, the subset of the whole collection is displayed in the reverse order.

  • How can i take a still from a project?

hi wondering if anyone can help
i've just recently got an imac and final cut pro x
i have been watching a lot of tutorials on youtube for tips and info
i am currently needeing to take a lot of stills out of a movie project i'm doing.
online it says go to the share tab at the top, located between modify and window,
now my version of fcpx does not have a share tab there.
the share option is in file and that only seems to do with streaming the movie via dvd, file or internet etc.
can someone please tell me how i take stills, i don't want to have to send the footage to my
old windows computer and get them thru my old software
why should i when i bought a mac??

First. There is a "new" place for the "share" menu. (I think you are reading text from an old "how to" from an older version of FCPX. The "share" is no longer along the top menu bar. It is on the far right of the TOOL BAR.)
Next,  find "Save Current Frame" (or "Add Destination" in the same menu to ADD it to same menu if you do not see it.) Simple.
    Good luck

  • Still Frames Disappear in Project Frame

Working with imovie 08, at work, I capture videos from hdv camera. I have to select short clips of work video and create projects from the clips. Then I use the "add still frame to project", and usually the still frames stay in the project frame while I'm doing this. I then use finder to locate them once I am finished. The stills are now disappearing from the project frame and are no where to be found. I had done this procedure many times (30+) with no problem, now I can't find them anywhere. help!

So what I am realizing is that all of my sequences have been created with incorrect settings, thus greatly downgrading the film quality. I wish I had picked up in this earlier rather than the last bit of my production. Because now the 25 minutes of sequences, and nested sequences are all basically incorrect. I figured that the poor display was related to Premieres program monitor, and that after rendering, it would display more clearly. But that is just impossible, when placing uncompressed progressive footage 1366X768, square pixels and 30fps into sequences that are 720X480, 29.97, and a non-square pixel aspect ratio...
So I'm wondering, is there any way to change the sequence settings  or place all of the edited footage in new, matching sequences without essentially re-editing the whole film?
    Any helpful words are appreciated.

  • The stills in my movie project do not respond when I try to edit their "duration" I change it  the clip inspector and click done, but when I exit clip inspector , it reverts back to what it was prior to my trying to change it?

The stills in my i movie project will not allow me to edit the duration time. I change it in the clip inspector, but when I click done, it just reverts back to what it was prior to my attempt to change it?
