4.4 running extremely slow, had no issues with 4.3

4.4 is extremly sluggish for me.  Even something as simple as updating meta-data causes the program to hang.  I had no issues with 4.3

Well, Adobe normally only offers the most recent for download, so that'll be 4.4.
Somebody else may know where/how to get a copy of 4.3, but I don't. - I take it you deleted the 4.3 installer from your hard drive already?
I suppose this goes without saying now, but just in case it doesn't: in the future, consider not deleting the previous version installer until the latest version is proving itself to be OK.
Another option to consider is downloading/installing the Lr5 beta and see how that goes for ya.

  • Add ons disabled. have firefox4. Running extremely slow. Love using firefox but am using chrome right now because of the speed issue.

When typing it is slow or delayed. When loading web pages it takes forever. I have disabled all add ons. I had no issues with using firefox until I downloaded the new 4 version. I've had to switch to using chrome and I don't like using that but at least I have no speed issues. Please help so I can use firefox again.

  • How come my ps CS6 runs extremely slow?

After testing photoshop cs6, seeing how fast it worked on 3D on my pc I bought the web design and premium version. Time in between was several weeks. To my huge disappointement, the bought version runs extremely slow, mostly on 3D when I want to paint on target texture. Secondly I experiance a bug when I open my file and want to paint on targeted texture....brush shows inaccesible when wanting to paint. I do not mean greyed out, but the moment I hover over my 3d object it shows I cant paint (yes I have my layer selected;-). I have to fix this each time by changing targeted texture to some other and again switching back to the one I actually want to edit. As last thing, my OpenCL is greyed out.....maybe that causes the speed problems.....did not check with trial if it worked so not sure this is the issue=/....
When it comes to the speed I tried several things and now even reinstalled my whole pc hoping that would solve the problem.....it did not. Both CS6 photoshop 32-and 64-bit run slow on 3D.
I closed my trendmicro virusscanner to see if that would help....it speeded up only the start-up process but not the 3D. 3D works so slow that I have to wait 10 minutes after each move..just crazy....evenmore as it worked awesome with the trial version.
Also changed amount of memory assigned to ps by increasing to 80% and even 100%...nothing.
changed in graphic processors settings advanced into basic...nothing again.
No idea what to do next besides buying a new computer....I know I do not have a super strong one but as it worked perfectly I just don't get it. My pc runs this system:
    Intel(R) Core (TM) 2CPU
    [email protected] 2.66 Ghz
    Ram 4GB
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
    GeForce8800GTX
I have the feeling it is some conflict between an update of windows or graphic driver (I have the newest so my info tells me) and photoshop...any ideas what to do as this is extremely frustrating?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP
In case it helps this is the copied system info from photoshop:

Installed newer graphic driver as its seemed Microsoft update had an older one installed on my pc. This one is straight from Nvidia site with 3D support. Nevertheless ps runs slow and especially 3D. 32 Bit runs tiny bit faster than 64-bit. Now my photoshop even crashes with 3D: 32 bit holds out longer then 64...last one freezes almost immediately and I can close it through task manager. After installing newer driver at least the 64 bit shows OPenCL , where 32-bit not....maybe thats normal...
I hope anyone can help me as I even checked the system requirements on adobe and mine should be more than fine.

Well, it must be a system-specific bug of some sort that's been introduced, because I was able to create a 4200 x 3500 image made by mapping an image of similar size to a cylinder, and the cylinder would move/rotate in real time.  Of course, I have a completely different video card and system than you do, but I'm just verifying that it's not broken everywhere.
Rendering isn't hugely fast, but that's not unexpected with a larger image.
Maybe being more specific would help.  Is your mesh complex?
Is it something you'd be willing to share online or describe how to create?  I would be happy to try to match what you're doing more thoroughly to see whether I can reproduce the slowdowns.
Beyond that, I'm not sure what to suggest...  You don't have a lot of RAM to be working on 15 megapixel images, but as you say the thing to concentrate on is that you're seeing quite different performance from the Ps CS6 beta version.

  • Macbook Pro running extremely slow

While still on Mavericks my Macbook Pro 13 mid 2010 (2.4 Intel core 2 duo) sporadically began running extremely slow functions, even the mouse cursor moved in jolts and steps, to type a word in google search engine I had to wait a few seconds after being typed for the word to appear on screen. The internal speaker volume responds 10 seconds after tapping the buttons on the keyboard.  Videos are unplayable in netflix and other sites because picture freezes and runs in jolts and steps. Its Not the internet connection or the streaming.
I upgraded to Yosemite to see if this would fix the problem, I upgraded the darned adobe flashplayer believing maybe I needed the latest software available for my programs for the computer to run smoothly. I upgraded the RAM to 8GB from 4GB and did not fix the problem. I have more than half of the 500GB hard drive with free space. I'm getting a Java Runtime Environment download prompt to view properly something every time I boot the computer.  The "slowness" comes and goes. But it gets more frequent and worse each day. I can't work.  Could it be some type of malware that makes the computer slow? I can't identify a specific malware to address and remove. Could it be that the fan isn't working properly and runs slow when its too hot?? Please HeLP!!

  • All design programs running extremely slow and takes forever to save and sometimes shuts down randomly?

Ok so  I'm a design student at a community college (about to graduate soon and will be continuing on getting my BFA) I have all of the creative cloud suite. I have Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, etc. Recently I started having problems with all of the programs. Whenever I work in the programs they would run extremely slow. Recently, I tried to save a .eps file that was only about 1.2 GB and it took me an hour to save, and this was when I was working off of my computer desktop. When I place the .eps file in Indesign, everything would go blank and it would freeze up. Also I had an error sign popping up from InDesign saying "out of memory". Im not sure if that is related to my computer's hard drive or indesign itself. I just started using creative suite so the creative suite is pretty new to me. Sometimes in Indesign when I do the Command+w to preview the whole project, it would be completely black and showing nothing and I would hit escape and the whole software screws up. Then I would do a force quit on the software and then Indesign would say there was a serious error and must shut down. That error message has been popping up several times now. I also talked to Apple support and they suggested me doing a Repair disk utility (which I am currently doing right now) and also recommended me contacting Adobe since they know their software. I checked software to see if there is any updates that is needed but everything is up to date. I'm not quite sure why its acting like this so I'm reaching out both to Apple and Adobe to see if both can help me solve the problem. If anybody had experienced this problem before and could help me troubleshoot this issue that would be great.

I installed the creative suite about a year ago, and this just started happening last weekend. I didn't think it would be a problem and that it would last for a day since I was working on InDesign all day and Illustrator and it usually goes away after I finish using the programs. But this has been occurring for about a week now and has not gone away. and yes the other programs are running slow. I was trying to resize some images for a client and Photoshop was acting extremely slow  when I was trying to resize the image and also place an image into a 8x10 document in Photoshop. I'm not sure how to find my system specifications.

  • Macbook Pro 15" Late 2011 - Running Extremely Slow

I've only had my Macbook Pro for about 9 months. Lately it's been running EXTREMELY slow, and freezing up at some times. I have a RAM monitor, and it will sometimes drop below 192MB! I have 4GB installed, and I only run a few light-weight applications, No Final Cut, or Photosop. On a typical day I'll have the following open at once: Safari, Spotify, Minecraft, Mail, Messages
Nothing 4GB can't handle right? I guess not. I don't download from untrusted websites, so I doubt it's a virus. I honestly have no clue. I don't have the Apple Care, and I'm not sure if this is covered in the 1yr limited warranty that is included with the computer. Hopefully someone can help me resolve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Caleb.

  • IPhone 3G running extremely slow with iOS4

Anyone else having issues with their iPhone 3G running extremely slow since the iOS4 update? I am mainly noticing it in my messages, when typing a text message, it takes about 20 seconds to respond after touching the letters and when receiving a text message when in the middle of replying the previous messages disappear up, and you must swipe your finger down the screen to get them back.
Any suggestions to help resolve it?

All of us 3G users are waiting.
I just got off the phone with Apple Tech Support (I have the Apple Protection Plan for the 3G iPhone) and he had we do a reset as a new user.
After reading these recent posts, it is obvious that Apple owes us a real fix to their software upgrade.
It's very frustrating to use this phone now especially when it ran so well with the previous OS, 3.1.3.
The fact that Apple does not allow or support downgrading (or, in this case, an "upgrade") to the previous version or a fix now, is not favorable to the company's customers or image, in my opinion.
I specifically asked the tech when a fix will be coming out and he said in a couple of weeks, but that is mainly for the antenna issue. When pressed for an answer to our problems, he said he wasn't sure if that update to version 4 will address the 3G issues.
He suggested I post "product suggestions" @ apple.com/feedack and said that Apple does read these comments as well as the Discussion Boards....
Hey, Apple, if you're reading this......Help us out already with this software mess or face losing customers!!

  • Equium L20 running extremely slow after formatting

I wonder if anyone could help me,
I have had my Equium just over a year now and last month I believe it got a virus as it started running incredibly slow, not allowing me to open any programs.
So I restarted it but once it had gone off I could not get it to start up again.
It would show the Windows loading screen and then die, and restart again.
I was forced to format the hard drive and after doing this everything seemed to be fine and it was running perfectly.
This lasted for about 2 weeks and now it is back to how it was before, running very slowly taking almost half an hour just to reach the login screen and I am getting errors when it finally logs in says that my applications are failing to load.
The first time I also got a warning that Norton Antivirus had experienced a problem and that I need to re-install that :S
I find it hard to believe that it is another virus this soon after the first one especially because i have never before had any problems with viruses and always run antivirus software.
I would greatly appreciate any help or advice anyone could give me about why this is happening.

The described issue is really strange. Usually with so called factory settings the notebook should run like at first day. I do not believe that immediately after recovering your notebook you have noticed that OS runs extremely slow. Am I right?
Now after two weeks the same again. Nobody of us knows what you have done with your notebook, which software is preinstalled and what are your favorite settings. The fact is that Norton Antivir slows down the running system rapidly. Try please to remove preinstalled Norton and use some other Antivir application.
Equium L30 is definitely not the fastest notebook and I believe many running applications are responsible for slow running OS.

  • Ever since my upgrade to lion 10.7.3, and iCloud, my macbook is running extremely slow. What can I do? It doesn't seem like my contacts are pushing through to the computer from iPhone.

Ever since my upgrade to lion 10.7.3, and iCloud, my macbook is running extremely slow. What can I do? It doesn't seem like my contacts are pushing through to the computer from iPhone.

Then your basic issues are: too little RAM, incompatible software, dysfunctional installation.
Add more RAM or kill as many programs that you use until the computer is running normally.
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps. Upgrade any old software.
    Reinstall OS X:
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    Alternatively, see:
Reinstall OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Choose the version you have installed now:
OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it isthree times faster than wireless.

  • How to clean up macpro 10.6.8 snow leopard when running extremely slow?....apple told me to get rid of "mackeeper software" but that seemed to help ...now what?

How do I improve the performance of my Macbook Pro  (os 10.6.8) ...I previously had "mackeeper" but apple staff advised to get rid of it as
I did not need to improve performance and this software was not apple recommended and  tends to cause more problems >   But lately my computer is running extremely slow ...Not opening programs and freezing ?.......I miss the mackeeper as it would tell me about duplicate files...temporary and "clean Up" which semed to help ...........Isnt there any way to increase performance manually ?  Help please

Well MacKeeper comes close to qualifying as junk, as malware even, and totally takes over and interferes with a system and then is hard to uninstall and remove.
In addition to the above, BitDefender has a free utility as well to remove adware.
    "Less is more."
There is no real valid reason to install and use this or other apps to clean or improve system performance. Adding more RAM can help of course if yours has minimum, upgrading the system storage drive almost always helps as SSDs have gotten better and available in any system.
the more 'stuff' that gets installed, the more problems with stability, performance, and the system working as it should.

  • Macbook Pro running extremely slow since updating to Yosemite

    Hello All,
I am new to the community and I'm hoping your pooled expertise can assist me with my issues. I went ahead and posted the results of my diagnostic scan below. My main concerns are that my Macbook Pro is now extremely slow after OSX updates. Also, laptop is running extremely hot to touch. I have mentioned other ongoing issues. I offer thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Problem description:
    Macbook Pro 13":
    Purchased in mid-2010.
    Most Recent Issue (Main Concern):
    (1) I recently updated OS X from Mountain Lion to Maverick. Computer began running extremely slow and “jerky.”
(1.1) Shortly after this I updated to OS X Yosemite. Computer runs, and types, even slower than before.
Ongoing Issues (Greater than one year):
    (1) Extremely short battery life (may last two hours on full charge)
    (2) Macbook runs extremely hot to touch (fan runs continuously but can’t begin to keep it cool)
    (3) SD Card reader doesn't recognize/open an SD card when inserted.
    Lex Cschellings Requested the Following:
No obvious elements in the list.
This may well be a dying disk and/or a very bad battery.
    Do following:
make a new etrecheck list and in the problem description put what Applications->Utilities->SystemInformation says about the battery (under the Power heading in the left panel): give cycle count and battery condition.
Then post the link in a new thread.
In the meantime the crash report is probably a French Dictionary issue (font? garcon garçon) you have installed, uninstall that and see if it happens again.

  • Final Cut loading and running extremely slow...

Hi, I posted about this a few days ago but in my usual panic (work to do!) I didn't make it clear, basically, here's the problem...
I recently had problems with FCP and generally all apps on my machine, when they loaded there was a slight pause when the icon bounced on the dock and I came across all sorts of errors, especially in FCP.
So, I backed up the two internal hard disks, formatted them both, then Raided them as one and put all the information back from the backup.
Since then everything's been working fine, I installed a new fresh copy of Final Cut Studio and I've done a few jobs.
Since finishing my last job last week (which happened to be working with MP4 files, I'm not sure if this is relevant), every time I load FCP now the icon struggles to bounce and it runs extremely slow, even if it's loading a new, blank project. From my last post, someone suggested I delete the render files from the MP4 project, I did so but still no luck.
I've run Disk Utility, Disk Warrior, no hope.
All other apps are fine but when I run FCP it slows the whole machine down, takes forever to force quit and restart until it's back to normal.
Next step is to re-install Final Cut Studio but even if this works, I'd like to have an idea why this has happened??? I've never had problems like this with my mac before.
Thanks, hope this is clear and not too much!
    Alex

It would have been much better to find the problem than to just move it around.
All you have done is create a RAID where none was needed. When you moved your clone back to the RAId, you only moved all of the original problems to a new drive.
You are probably looking at a complete scorched earth-style reformat and reinstallation of everything from scratch since you've done so much damage.
There were a couple of things to try before you made the RAID but they would have been found by asking some questions and searching in the Mac OS10 forums.

  • Help Center is running extremely slow in OSX Lion.

Help Center is running extremely slow on my MacBook Pro with OSX Lion (8 GB RAM, 2.4 Ghz Intel Core i5).
It takes several seconds to start up, occasionally variable names like "[currentBookname]" are displayed instead of section headings, results update extremely slowly. This has always been an issue but keeps getting worse it seems.

  • MacBook Pro running extremely slow- something with RAM maybe?

I'm using a MacBook Pro, and yesterday, out of nowhere it stated running extremely slow and constantly freezes. I did some research and ended up looking in the Activity Monitor, and it seemed like I have no free space available - so I deleted a bunch of files and the computer is still running exactly as slow as it was before. My stats on the activity monitor are:
    Free: 9.7 MB
    Wired: 851.7 MB
    Active: 2.11 GB
    Inactive: 1.05 GB
    Used: 3.99 GB
    VM Size: 162.33 GB
    Page ins: 541.0 MB
    Page outs: 4.02 GB
    Swap Used: 10.41 GB
Finder says I have 317.3 GB available. What's the problem here?

Safe mode prevents almost all third-party software from running such as preference panes, plug-ins, extensions, and launchagents and launch daemons. Normal boot lets all that run. So the issue is with one or more of these third-party items. Perhaps you can download EtreCheck 1.9.10 and run it when your system is at it's worst state. Then post the results here for us to check.
    Also,
    Pre-Mavericks
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
    Mavericks and later

  • LR 5 running extremely slow on a brand new iMac

Hi, I just got a brand new iMac (specs will be attached on bottom) because my old pc was slowing down. I downloaded the CC LR and PS trials so I can see how the machine works, figuring it would be way faster then my old one (2009 machine, specs also on bottom). Unfortunately, LR is running much slower on my new machine and I am quite frustrated since I only bought the iMac due to performance issues with my old machine. I am hoping that it has to do with the setup and am hoping someone here can help me figure it out, or I will have to return this machine.
I really wished that I could talk with customer service, but that seems to be not an option, which makes me quite disappointed with CC and Adobe. I have the Scott Kelby LR5 book and set preferences up the way he did, but maybe I am missing something that he is not talking about. I have used LR since version LR3 and have not had any issues with it on my other machine, besides it slowing down now that I got a camera that produces bigger files sizes than my old.
Please let me know what other info I should supply. Thanks so much!
old machine specs where LR5 is running much faster then on this brand new one

HI this has been well discussed on the Macrumours forums and here too. Seems to be an Adobe thing as other similar software does not do this.
may be down to LR not making use of the GPU  or some other reason, I'm trying to make my mind up between buying  LR 5 or buying Capture One a pro 8  Which is a fantastic piece of software which does make use of GPU.
i Was hoping LR6 would come out soon (March 2015) but apparently that is just a rumor with no substance.
