4/5 calls failing on iPhone 5

I am located in area code 48071 using an iPhone 5. About 4 out of 5 outgoing calls fail to connect. I am also not receiving some incoming calls, with voicemails arriving without a missed call.
I have tried resetting the network settings, powering off the device, and removing/inserting the sim card. It has had no effect.

    Hello Gvlaker09
I'm sorry to hear your having issues. I'm not seeing any reported issues in the area. Does service improve outdoors? When did this start? Do other Verizon devices have the same results?

  • Face time calls Fail from IPhone to IMac

    I am new to face time and not sure what I am doing wrong.  I can make a face time call from my IMac to my IPhone.  When I try facetime from my IPhone to IMac the IMac face time app rings, but when you try to answer the call always fails.  On the IPhone it says that I am busy.  What am I doing wrong?

    You're welcome, I'm glad that I could help!
    On a side note, if anybody is redirected here from a search engine or elsewhere; the "is busy" message in FaceTime when you clearly are not is almost entirely based on the shared Email (associated with your Apple ID) problem. For example:
    Say you have an iPad 2, a iPhone and FaceTime on your MacBook and your iMac in your household, the iPad i.e. is used by your daughter/son, the iPhone and the iMac is used by you and the MacBook is used by your husband/wife. But all of the devices use the same Apple ID (yours).
    It helps to associate different Email addresses with each device but not with any other of the devices so any device can be called from another one. As soon as you understood the concept of the solution from the original problem it should be easy to set it up perfectly.
    Let's say you have entered the Email addresses on FaceTime in the following manner:
    iPhone & iMac: [email protected]
    MacBook: husband/[email protected]
    iPad 2: daughter/[email protected]
    When the iPad 2 calls [email protected] the iPhone and the iMac will ring but you can only pick up on one of the devices. The iPad can also call the MacBook via husband/[email protected] The MacBook can call the iPad via daughter/[email protected] and both the iMac and the iPhone via [email protected] The iPhone can call the MacBook, the iPad but not the iMac (the message "user is busy at the moment" will be displayed). The iMac can call either the MacBook or the iPad but not the iPhone.
    As said before: All you need to understand here is the concept, the rest comes naturally.
    If there is a related problem please don't hesitate to ask!

  • IPhone 4S Siri Will No Longer Voice Dial Contacts - Always Call Failed

    I am not exactly sure when this started (5.0.1?), but when I ask Siri to dial someone in my contacts, Siri recognizes the request, proceeds to Dial the number and no matter which contact I try, I get an immediate "CALL FAILED" and then the iPhone immediately locks. I have restored the iPhone as new, Reset Network Settings, etc. to no avail. If I turn Siri off from Settings, the phone will revert to the previous Voice Control that was present in previous iPhones and Voice Calls are successful. Only when trying to use Siri do all voice initiated calls fail. And it is 100% consistent in the failure. This does not appear to be a Siri network issue, as all Siri other Siri requests work and are speedy. Co-workers with the 4S are also experiencing the same issue, so it does not appear to be specific to just my iPhone. Can anyone else confirm? Thanks.

    OK, so i have tracked it down to a single AT&T Cell Tower location in my instance, but it also just so happens to be at my office, which means I am affected by it all day. What is happening is that at this particular location, the AT&T tower is misconfigured or experiencing some type of technical issue, resulting in the inability of the cell tower to handle simultaneous voice and data. Siri uses data to match the contacts, names etc and hands off to the Phone dialer, which immediately experiences a call failure as a result of the 3G Data still being in use by Siri. You can verify simultaneous voice and data connectivity by placing a voice call and then attempting to use 3G data (you must not be using WiFi to determine if this is a problem with the Cell network). While in a voice call, launch the Speedtest.net Mobile Speed Test app. You will clearly see that 3G data services have all but ceased if this is your problem. End the Voice Call and run the Speedtest.net Mobile Speed Test again and 3G data will work fine.
    I have reported the problem via AT&T's Mark the Spot App numerous times and had my colleagues do the same and called AT&T Wireless customer service to no avail. They simply refuse to acknowledge the issue is on their end. I personally know at least 5 other iPhone 4S users in my office who are experiencing the same issue and the results can be consistently recreated on all of their devices. And again, once they leave the office in the afternoon, all of their services return to normal and they can again make and place Voice initiated phone calls without the dreaded Call Failed. Thanks AT&T.

  • Thanks this was very useful.. I have a brand new iphone 4s unlocked version from singapore and I am having the same problem constant network fluctuations, no service, call failed, invalid sim, sim failure, bars fluctuating from 5 - 3 - 2 - 1, no signal/ba

    I have a brand new iphone 4s unlocked version from singapore and I am experiencing constant network fluctuations on my iphone , no service, call failed, invalid sim, sim failure, bars fluctuating from 5 - 3 - 2 - 1, no signal/bars searching etc... Ifeel miserable after trying out all the options changed multiple sims, tried multiple carriers, restored the phone back and have set-up as new device but the problem does not get solved... its is so frustrating that after investing on a world's most expensive phone you cannot enjoy the calling features which the phone offers which is the main thing you own the phone for.. Rest of the things are working.. The funniest part I am not able to make calls or receive calls but can access the internet..  I have tried every possible thing and really very frustrated with this iphone of mine...I hope the problem gets solved.. would anyone have any solutions to this problem.. Does it mean one should never update software as I hear that after updating to IOS.5.1 the problem has started coming and same has been with there.... Apple says its a hardware failure which is very difficult to digest as sometimes I get 5 bars and able to make and receive calls but 95% of the time I am unable to. If anyone has any solution I will be very happy if he or share can share the same. Many thanks. its so disgusting to experience this on top of this apple does not support global warranty for the phone as you need to go to the country from where you bought the phone for replacement.. Truly sad state of affairs.. very very very dissappointing.

    Have a look at this it might help

  • Iphone 5 calls failed

    Hi
    Has anyone experienced problems with their iphone 5? For some reason I keep getting "call failed", problems appears to happen during phone call converations and most of them appear to happen when you try to dial a phone number, press call and the phone returns a message back to say call failed.
    I've checked with the network provider and I have a 4 bar signal strength, only to be told that most of the time my phone has dropped the call and not the network. Even if you see a signal bar on the phone, does not mean to say your connected to the network provider. I have a call logged with Apple and my Network provider and I'm surprised to see that the two providers are not welling to bang there heads together to fix the problem. Apple support have been helpful to a point, my call has been escalated to Apple's Engineering Team but they dont even know how to fix it. Instead I'm getting useless questions being asked.
    It appears to me that the same signal problem with Apple's previous handset still exists on there iphone 5. I've checked with various friends who are on different networks and they too have the same problem. One friend had already started to look at Samsungs S3 as it appears to have none of these issues.
    I've lost faith in Apple's abaility to resolve this issue. I also decided not to purchase iPad with 3G as a result of this issue.
    If you have any ideas on how to resolve this issue, that would help!
    PS Does anyone know how to go about making logging a complaint with Apple?

    So here's an update from my situation.  Hope it helps some folks.
    My wife and I had been having some intermittant "call failed" issues on T-Mobile with both my iphone 5 and her iphone 4s.  After speaking with T-mobile, apparently they were "refarming" our network area switching out cell tower frequencies to get ready for the new iphone rollout on T-mobile (in early April).  They suggested we turn off 3G on our iphones, until all the tower updates take place. . .
    We did . . . That allowed us to make phone calls again, but we were stuck on Edge.  Not a long term solution, but it would have to do for the moment.
    THEN-- The T-mobile carrier update came out for the iphone 5 in mid-april, and once again I started having intermittant fails.  This time, I lost the option to turn off 3G (due to the carrier update), so I was stuck wiht a phoen that basically did not work at my home . . . Kapt getting "no service".
    So after alot of researching forums, I determined that the problem was BOTH a Handset and carrier issue . . .  The original handset I bought was an unlocked iPhone 5, which worked fine on T-mobile when I bought it in December.  But as soon as T-Mobile started gearing up to carry the Iphone officially, they started making chancges in their frequency bands . . . Namely,the 1700 mhz aws band. . . . The new iphone 5 that T-mobile began selling in April could pick up the 1700 mhz band.  The iphone 5 sold in December could not . . .
    And that was the reason for the call fails . . .  My phone was jumping back and forth between the 1900 mhz 3G freqeuncies, and Edge netweork frequencies, constantly toggling back and forth, searching, and then going "no service."  And it was especially bad at my house . . . apparently because all the towers right around me were being refarmed to accomodate the 1700 band, and my iphone was simply unable to pick that up . . .
    So here's what I did.
    I went to Apple.  I explained the problem.  I told them I wanted to exchange it for a new one.  They tried to get me to try some software troubleshooting first, but I was adamant about receiving a new phone, and they finally agreed.  I made sure that the new phone I was getting was one that was capable of picking up the 1700 and 2100 aws band frequencies . . .
    And the problem was solved!!!
    So far there is still no solution for my wife's iphone 4s, since there are no iphone 4s phones capable of picking up those frequencies.  Right now we're just keeping the 3G off, and waiting.  Hope this post helps others with similar T-mobile, unliocked iphone 5 issues.

    This one(md655) has verizon usa card from which i can call but when i put Vodafone india only data.
    There is the problem.  The iPhones originated in the US and there are NO unlocked iPhones for sale in the US.
    In the future, it's best to only purchase iPhones directly from Apple or an authorized reseller.
    You may simply be out of luck.  You can try contacting Verizon and see if they will unlock the device for you, there is no guarantee.
    If the other two are locked to AT&T, you are completely out of luck.

  • I can't make/receive calls on days old iPhone 4.  Just says Call Failed.

    Same thing is happening with my girlfriend's 3Gs. The person being called hears half a ring then phone cuts out. I have all bars but when call fails bars all drop for a moment, then return. I've reset network settings and everything else. What the **** ****!?
    Not sure if it's an AT&T issue, or iPhone or both. I drove out of town and was able to make calls again. Once i returned the problem resumed. I called AT&T and they have no knowledge of network outages in my area. My girl's co-worker (also an iphone owner-3Gs) is having the same issue.
    I put up with AT&T's horrid service with crappy coverage and failed calls all the time but this is far worse. I CAN'T USE MY PHONE!
    Somebody please help me before I murder this thing and buy a Droid X.

    Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, it does not make a difference. It still shows "iPhone not available. iPhone and Mac have to be in the same network"
    Are there any settings which are fundamental on the iPhone, I have activated:
    - iCloud Drive
    - FaceTime (FaceTime and iPhone Mobile Calls activated)
    The only strange thing - on Yosemite I can activate mobile phone number AND email in FaceTime whereas I can activate just my email in the FaceTime app on my iPhone...

  • IPhone 5 iOS 7.1.4 Call failed every time when the other person hung up before me

    iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.4 says Call failed every time when the other person hung up before me,
    Is there anything I can do to about that please?

    Hey there Yonidawit,
    It sounds like you are are getting a message saying that the call failed, when the person you are talking to hangs up. I have a few things to recommend here. First close all the open apps:
    iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
    Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
    Swipe the app up to close it.
    When you have done that restart the phone and test it out again:
    iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    If that does not resolve it, try resetting your network settings:
    Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
    previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings
    From: iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
    If the issue persists, I would next backup your device to iTunes, and restore it:
    iOS: How to back up and restore your content

    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Repeated 'Call Failed' despite 2 iPhones and 3 sims

    I've had my iPhone for about 48 hours now and am in need of any and all suggestions about what to do with disconnects.
    As a preface, I previously used a Palm Treo 680 for the past year (6 months in the current town). After losing that phone, I went with the iPhone as a replacement. The night of the purchase, and before installing any apps, I experienced the 3 beeps and 'call failed' message when talking to two friends - one on an iPhone; the other on Verizon. I had talked to both before without problems on the Treo. I had another call fail the following day and took the iPhone to a nearby ATT store for a SIM change. That night, I thought all was well but, about 10 minutes into a call with the friend with the iPhone, I got another 'call failed'. Today, I went to the Apple store and was quickly given a new iPhone at the Genius bar. Thought all was well again as a call on the way home went well. Was just speaking again with the friend in Florida on an iPhone and the call failed after about 12 minutes. I have the latest firmware and made sure that 'send caller id' was enabled.
    Any thoughts/suggestions?
    Thanks,
    E

    Thanks everyone
    Since then, I have used the iPhone in a more 'real world' way. I found that I really don't 'need' 3G very much at all. I have left the phone on Edge and used WiFi at home, in the office and, today, at the YMCA. Who knew wifi had grown to be so ubiquitous? Anyway, I'll keep testing out the phone capabilities and use 3G as needed on weekends. At least I can't complain about battery life now
    If this keeps up, I will contact ATT about the network. I realize now that my Treo was never on the 3G network as I had not enabled a data plan....

    Hi chelsinator,
    You can reset the phone and it won't cause any problems or cause you to lose any data - Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears.
    The other thing you should do is to reset your network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. You will have to set up your Wifi again, but that oftentimes clears things up.
    Cheers,

    Here's a nifty agorithm to fill an array of primes, using a forever loop with a labeled continue statement, from Horton's Beginining Java:public class MorePrimes
      public static void main(String[] args)
        long[] primes = new long[20];    // Array to store primes
        primes[0] = 2;                   // Seed the first prime
        primes[1] = 3;                   // and the second
        int count = 2;                   // Count of primes found - up to now,
                                         // which is also the array index
        long number = 5;                 // Next integer to be tested
        outer:
        for( ; count < primes.length; number += 2)
          // The maximum divisor we need to try is square root of number
          long limit = (long)Math.ceil(Math.sqrt((double)number));
          // Divide by all the primes we have up to limit
          for(int i = 1; i < count && primes[i] <= limit; i++)
            if(number%primes[i] == 0)             // Is it an exact divisor?
              continue outer;              // yes, try the next number
          primes[count++] = number;               // We got one!
        for(int i=0; i < primes.length; i++)
          System.out.println(primes); // Output all the primes
