4 Beeps error?

Hello all  I need some help with my Laptop which sometimes randomly shuts down and then when I try turning it back on gives me a 4 beep error code which I understand to be some type of RAM failure. It happens at random and I want to fix it because I game a lot on the laptop and it gets annoying when it randomly shuts off. I have tried reinstalling the RAM and nothing has fixed it. This error doesn't happen at startup like on other posts but at random when I'm on the laptop. The laptop has 8 GB and a good processor and graphics card so I don't understand why this is happening. I recently updated some drivers because I thought that may be the issue but the only thing that fixed was the bsod's I was getting. Please help and I'm wondering if I need to buy new Ram

Hi BaZuKa_RulZ,
Appreciate the step where you tried reseating the memory to resolve the issue.
I recommend you to run diagnostics on the hardware components of the system. To run diagnostics restart the system and at the Dell logo tap the F12 key every two seconds. This will start the One-time boot menu. Using arrow keys select ‘Diagnostics’ and hit enter. This will run diagnostics on the hardware components of the system which may take around 5 minutes. Please reply to this post in case of any error message.
Also provide the system model.

  • PC NOT POSTING (NO BEEP ERRORS/CD ROM&FLOPPY = NO POWER)

Before i begin i just want to say that i recently RMA'd my MSI K8n Neo Platinum socket 754 motherboard and they sent me back a refurbished one, this was a few weeks ago..
    My setup:
MSI K8n Neo Platinum Socket 754
    Windows XP Pro
    Athlon 64 3200+ CPU
    ATI x800 XT PE vid
    SOund blaster audigy sound card
Ultra X-Connect 500 Watt P/S ( Had Antec 430 Watt True Power BEFORE putting in Ultra X-Connect)
    Kingston Hyper-X 2x512 RAM
So im using my PC like normal.. it locked up (dont know why). So i reset the system (hard reset).. as soon as i hit reset, the PC shut off. I turn off the power from the back, wait a while and turn it back on. I turn the PC back on and it turns on fine, BUT it doesnt POST. There is no response from the monitor and nothing happens. The PC seems to be running fine however there are no beep errors or anything, nothing is being displayed on the monitor. Also, it seems the TWO dvd-rw drives i have are not getting power(they didnt open when i pressed the open buttons). So i figured maybe my power supply is bad. I had a NEW Ultra X-Connect 500 Watt P/s that wasnt in use so i opened it up and put it in (took out 430 Watt Antec).. After all said and done i turned on the PC and SAME THING. No post, no beep errors, nothing.. cd roms wouldnt open still. So i tried resetting CMOS and samething. MY ram is only a few weeks old and none of the symptoms point to the ram or any other devices. I already ruled out the Power Supply. Im starting to think that MSI sent me another bad board from the RMA.. I just got it only a few weeks ago. What do you guys think?
UPDATE: I removed the IDE cable of the CD-roms that leads to the motherboard and turned on the PC. Now they have power and open and close perfectly fine.. all signs point to mobo.

So I know none of my LED's or switches need to be rotated as they have worked for weeks. Nonetheless I tried it and here is what I found out. When I took the power sw plug out and turned on the power from the back, it still turned on without me doing anything. Infact now that I think about it, everytime i have turned ont he power from the back, the computer has automaticaly turned on without me having to press the power switch.
Thus, I think the power switch thing is shorted and it is always trying to give it the first bit of power. I think the motherboard keeps thinking like it is just being turned on and that is why it is not working. RMA time, unless anyone has got anything else.

  • Does not boot only beep error code 4-3-4-3 Model: M55 MT-M 8810-W8T

    Have a M55 MT-m 8810-W8T that does not display.
Power i suppose is OK as it powers up and give beep code of 4-3-4-3. From what I found it is a PHOENIX BIOS Q3.07 OR 4.X version. From searching I can only find that it means that "Boot code was read OK'. After the beep code I still have no display. Have tried on-board VGA (without the PCIe videocard). Tried the PCIe videocard, different memory, reset CMOS ......but still cannot get to the BIOS not boot into Windows.
So what does that exactly mean and how do I get the PC to boot up fully?
Thanks for any help in advance.

That usually means a memory error. Remove all of the memory and install one stick in the first slot. I have also overcome this error by "cleaning" the contacts of the memory module with the eraser of a pencil. Gently "scrub" the gold contacts at the botton of the DIMM, completely remove any residue and re-seat the module. It is possible you are mixing high and low density ram which could cause a situation like this.

  • Zen Neeon: beeping error at boo

So I just received a Neeon for christmas, and while transferring files it received an error in the middle of a transfer, which I saw after a minute (I was transferring files for a while, so I'd gone off to do something else) and closed, thinking I'd just retry. Now my Neeon is just beeping at me, in cyclic, decending tones. The screen is frozen at the creative logo, and the computer won't recognize the device. Is this indicati've of any specific error? It strikes me as similar to motherboard beep codes, but I'm new to the Creative brand and don't know where to go from here.
    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Go to http://asia.creative.com/support/downloads/ and get the latest Neeon firmware, and follow the instructions there (click "show details" on the download page) to see how to apply it.
If it continues to have problems then contact support, click the Support > Contact Customer Support link on this page.

  • Inspiron N5010 (15R) 8 beeps error

Last week my laptop crashed and when I tried to restart there was no display and a continuous 8 beeps. After researching I disovered this was an LCD display error and tried all of the solutions I could find online:
Hold D key on startup, and hold Fn key on startup, none of which worked. Then I tried to connect an external monitor via HDMI which didn't work, but it did work when I connected the monitor via the VGA port. I scanned the system for hardware errors but none came up, the graphics card was reported as working normally, so I figured the problem lies with the display.
I ordered a new screen and fitted it yesterday, but I'm still having the same problem, so it would seem it wasn't an issue with the display at all. Would this mean that the problem lies with the ATI graphics card?
    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Hi JH_KB,
I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and then check if the beep pattern repeats.
    Switch off the computer.
Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
Remove the battery from the computer.
Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
Then connect back all the peripherals and check if the beep pattern repeats.

  • 6 Beep Error - Graphics Problem?

Following HP's user troubleshooting, it appears that my Pavilion p6-2326s won't boot up because there's a problem with the integrated video/graphics.  I get a six-beep/flashing error.  [With all external cables removed, I re-seated the single memory card, and checked that all the interior cables were seated properly.]
So my question is will installing a separate graphics card on the motherboard bypass the failing integrated graphics part of the motherboard?
The HP Troubleshooting Guide tells me that after memory is eliminated as a problem, the next is to remove the graphics card, but doesn't "integrated" mean that the graphics 'card' is built into the motherboard?   Short of taking the computer to a repair shop, is there any other trouble-shooting I could do to confirm the problem?
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Six (6) beeps is a pre-video graphics failure.    Try clearing the CMOS. Now boot up, tap ESC and then F2 to run diagnostics.
If you did installed an discrete graphics card then remove it as the six (6) beeps is typically associated with discrete graphics card errors.
BTW - five (5) beeps is a pre-video memory failure.

  • CCX 8.0.2 Script prompt recording stopped working. Recording command stop after beep, "Error Unmarshaling return" Has anyone experience this error?

Our Script prompt recording stopped working. After user authentication, the Recording command plays the prompt asking to record after the beep, but after the beep the application ends with error exception on screenshot below.
    Have anyone experience this error?
    Any thoughts will be appreciated
    Cisco Unified CCX Administration
    System version: 8.0.2.11004-12

    Hello Everyone,
Just in case that someone experience this problem, this problem points to a permission issue with the owner of one of the directories via root. TAC needs to be involved in order to modify the following settings.
    Note:
If you have two servers, you need to do it on both.
I've seeing sometimes that it takes a couple of minutes to take action.
Record prompt script failing with error message    "CMTRecordingDialogImpl"
UCCX versions:   Linux versions and especially after upgrades to the system.
Solution:   Problem is due to permissions,
    [root@DISDUCCXPUB ~]# cd /opt/cisco/uccx/
    [root@DISDUCCXPUB uccx]# ls -l | grep temp
    drwxr-xr-x   2 root       root         4096 Oct  6  2011 temp
    [root@DISDUCCXPUB uccx]# chown uccxuser:uccxservice temp
    [root@DISDUCCXPUB uccx]# chmod 775 temp
    [root@DISDUCCXPUB uccx]# ls -l | grep
    temp  drwxrwxr-x   2 uccxuser   uccxservice  4096 Oct  6  2011 temp
    [root@DISDUCCXPUB uccx]#   drwxrwxr-x   2 uccxuser   uccxservice  4096 Jan 17 15:07 temp
This should take care of the problem. Again, Cisco TAC needs to be engage because of the root access.

My laptop: Ibm Thinkpad T30 Windows Xp Pro
im not sure where to find the serial number on it either sadly its kinda old but please respond thanks bye

    Love you ajkula66111
I have heen having the same problem with my T40.  I put the expansion memory in the orignal slot under the keyboard and it starts up like a dream.
Before I would have to start it up a few times before it would not beep and go to BIOS and then start for real.
summitzl, check out the link (you could probably find the exact one for your computer type, but here is what to look for).

I do not know if you have an expansion memory (slot is on the back of computer, first one listed on the page of how to get to it), but I pulled that one out and put it in my orignal slot since I am pretty sure the expansion one is newer.
Now, I do not know if I should try to put the old one in the expansion slot or what.
    THANK YOU!!!

  • 5600 128 vtdr beeping error?!

When I run the LiveUpdate2 or 3 my computer starts beeping continuously until i reboot.. why ??
Also when I look at the MSI Clock infotab in my gfxcard settings i get an errormsg and the values are all empty.

I had similar troubles... I got a message saying "invallid NvuClockinit" or something like that... those problems ended when I uninstalled live update2, but then again, you seem to have done that already

  • Three beep startup error even with new RAM.

I have a three beep error at start-up on my Mini.  I reseated my original RAM with no improvement.  I replaced the RAM with OWC and still have the three beep error.  Is the video RAM or the memory controller bad?

I ran for years with the stock 4GB, 2x2GB, in the Mini.  Recently, occasionally at start-up I would get a flicker but would boot fine.  I was using it and it went dead, black screen.  I got the three beeps when I went to restart.
I imagine replacing the RAM slots themselves involves major surgery since they're probably soldered in.  Maybe would clearing the connectors on the slot help?

  • After effects cs4 "distiller error"

I recently bought and installed adobe creative master collection cs4. My computer isn't the best...but i made it meet the minumum requirement nessecary to run the programs.
    Anyway,more to the point.
Every program seems to work apart from adobe after effects, i was looking forward to using that one.
When i open it, i have to minimise all other windows, or it won't load, all i hear is the good old MS "beep error sound".
about 1/10 times it will come up with an error, i don't remember exactly but something along the lines of this.
"another instance is being used in distiller. this instance will not continue".
Any Ideas, it's probably something simple i know
P.S-I installed all the updates nessecary, at 1st it was running, but i made a few clicks and it closed itself, now it refuses to run, i have uninstalled and re-installed it. it gets to installing the media core and stops.

Another app (some older Adobe software, presumably) is having a hold on your shared PDF libraries or the Adobe font system, which AE also needs to deal with vector files or legacy PostScript fonts. The quick, but unelegant solution is to terminate those programs/ services (Acrobat quick starter for instance) by killing their process in task manager, the long-term solution would be to straighten out that mess and get a handle on which program does what. • T500 bios beeps

I have 2 T500 laptops I use for personal use and I've been having a problem getting the 1-3-3-1 bios beeps on restart. The laptop just does the beeps and then doesn't post and requires a hard restart. Neither one does it everytime and its seems to work okay using one dimm but when I use 2 dimms I get the beeps at a random amount of restarts. I'm using Crucial memory I purchased in a set of 2. I've tried all the memory tests but find no errors. I have already sent in one once and still it gets the bios beeps. I'm running the latest bios already. Is this a bad systemboard or what? If so I must have got 3 so far! Anyone have any advice to correct this problem. I've also tried switching dimms in the different slots, but it doesn't matter as the problem still persists. By neither one does it everytime I meant every restart.

After getting advice about the problem being the memory, I tried one of the Crucial dimms a long with the original that came with laptop and this worked fine for awhile but I'm still looking for a solution! I've tried 3 different types of memory Crucial, Adata and Samsung (factory) and still have the bios beeps occassionaly. Asked a question and the reply was with 3rd party memory will get this beep error ocassionally with 3rd party memory. Suggested the only way to avoid this was to buy memory from Lenovo. On October 2nd Lenovo came out with bios 3.06 and 3.09. These appear to have corrected the problem I was having. I have done about 10+ restarts and I haven't had the bios beeps yet. I'm running 4gb Adata memory.
