4 pin to 6 pin Graphic card
Hi everybody.
I'm looking to install a graphic card vith 4 pin connection with 4 pin to 6 pin PCI Express Power Adapter.
My question is: where i plug this 6 pin socket?
My machine is: a G5 2.3 dual early 2005 M9748xx/A No: CK514J4XRU3
Thank's
Your G5 only has PCI/PCI-X sockets, not PCI-Express (PCIe). What's the graphics card model?

I've been looking (and searching previous posts) for answers but haven't had much luck.
I want to add a 4-pin firewire port to several Powermac G5s. Some are dual processor (PCI) and some are quad processor (PCI express). I want to add the port so that I can plug in firewire decks to the computers without using the 6 pin port. The problem with using the 6-pin port is that since the 6 pin port carries power along with the data, there is a risk of blowing the firewire port on the DV deck. I want to avoid this risk altogether by installing a 4-pin connector.
I've found some 4-pin firewire cards that look like they might work but wanted to know if anyone had actually installed and used one that worked (either for PCI or PCI express). Any help would be awesome! You could use a 6-pin to 4-pin adapter in a 6-pin FireWire port.

I am running Photoshop CC 2014 on Windows 8.1 with an AMD quad core processor and AMD E1-2100 APU with AMD Radeon HD 8210 Graphics Card. I have installed the latest driver version 13.152.0.0. When I activate puppet warp, the mesh appears over the image and I can place the first pin. However, when I go to add the second pin, Photoshop crashes. I have tried with on a new, blank file, with just a few lines on it, but, as soon as I place the first pin, the image disappears, and then, as soon as I click anywhere else in the image, Photoshop crashes. I have followed all the online advice about settings under the Preferences/Performance interface, but nothing fixes the problem. Can anyone please help?

Hi,
I am thinking of buying a Mac pro for visual effects & graphics work.
My question is quite simple, what are the benifits of having to graphic cards in a Mac Pro,
For instance, i am thinking of putting in a Quadro 4000 with a 5870 in my mac pro.
now is it possible for me to set say the ATI 5870 for powering my display and my Quadro 4000 for graphic processing tasks such as rendering stuff, and so on and so forth.
Any thouights will be great.
Cheers.
AniYou need to find a way to add 3rd aux power connector.
Mac Pro only comes with a mere 2 6-pin connectors, not a lot of power.
Apple has had multiple problems with Nvidia drivers, with support, with say using two 4000s together, which sounds nice and makes more sense (and especially if one wants to run Windows at all where mixing ATI and Nvidia use to be against all the rules, now it seems like it is an Apple issue).
Yes, there can be processing improvements, Adobe Mercury Engine for one, CUDA still has advantage over ATI-Apple OpenCL. -
Is it possible to add a graphics card to my laptop?
I have a Hp Pavilion Dm4 with built in hd graphics since its absolutly afaule I wish to add a graphics card into the computer. I will list all the specs here so you guys know what im using.

Graphics is built into the motherboard.
Can only upgrade with new motherboard.
Only a few laptops have graphics cards that can be up graded. "Like Alienware"
Good luck.

Graphics Card not Recognised on Z97 Gaming 9 AC
Hi,
I'm hoping someone here can help me. I have a Z97 Gaming 9 AC Motherboard and a Zotac GTX970 Graphics card.
All 3 PCIe slots are showing as empty in the Bios. I have to use the onboard HDMI to get into Windows 7.
I've tried updating the Bios to the BETA version from this forum using the flasher tool but it hasn't helped.
The fans on the card are spinning so I think it has power. It has two 6 pin power cables coming from my Corsair 750 psu. I've tried different cables and different sockets on the psu.
I've read through this forum for over two days before posting here.
Please help me!Well yeah, you would have to have VERY bad luck in order to get both cards broken.
Get your friend test your cards and we'll see what can be done.
Did you try switching BIOS A to B? Might be BIOS A corrupted (if I remember it right, this board has dual BIOS?)
My last thought: if cards work fine in friend's PC, take your CPU out and look for bent pins in the socket. Also look around the motherboard for any damage signs or similar (colour differences etc). -
Purchased Radeon 4650 VisionTek graphics card from Dell to update Dell Inspiron 580 -- won't work
I recently called Dell to determine what graphics cards were compatible with my computer and was told a VisionTek DMS59 4650 would be the right hardware to enable me to use two new monitors with HDMI and DP ports.
The ports on the card were a bit of surprise..they needed 3 adapters to get from what was there to what I wanted. No telling how the signal changes across that interface.
I installed the card according to instructions. I did not see an additional pin for extra power. I disabled the drivers for my existing card--I didn't want to uninstall everything for fear I would completely lose the ability to plug anything in and see a screen. I tried deleting the grapics card from the bios but there were no bios options for doing that.
I called the "let us help you install this" hotline on my receipt only to be switched over to hardware support at Dell where I got bounced back and forth from in warranty to out of warranty groups only to be told I had to call the graphics card manufacturer and that the helpline was in error.
I am getting ready to return the card.

DDR NVidia GeForce FX 5200 graphicis card & 30" Mac HD monitor
I am a new Mac user, having had Dell desktops all my life. Recently, my Dell W1700 monitor/tv crapped out, and (of course) it is just out of warranty.
This prompted me to by a Mac Book Pro with a 30" HD monitor (to work with the PC also).
MY QUESTION:
Like many in here, I want to use the Mac HD monitor with the Mac Book Pro as well as the Dell PC (8300 series). I suspect that the cable connections may not be compatible (pins appear to have a different configuration) though the Dell LCD TV/monitor did use DVI cable in conjunction with a separate green audio cable.
I've already read and reviewed how to set up the laptop with the lid closed while utilizing the HD monitor. Now I need to troubleshoot the HD/PC connections.
Help!
PS-is the spell check feature in this forum messed up or what? I've never had so many idiotic "suggestions".Hi-
Welcome to Discussions!
The 30" Apple Cinema Display requires a computer with a dual link DVI equipped graphics card. It can connect to single link DVI, but without a dual link, the 30" ACD will not operate at optimal resolution (2550x1600). The 30" ACD is equipped with a dual link DVI-D connector.
I believe your 5200 has a single link DVI-I (2048x1536 max resolution), which will allow coupling with a DVI-I or DVI-D connector.
30" ACD supported resolutions:
2560 x 1600 pixels (optimum resolution)
2048 x 1280
1920 x 1200
1280 x 800
1024 x 640 -
Hi,
this might be a more "average user" kind of question to some of you, but...:
Does anyone here happen to know, which graphic card is the best choice for the westmere (6x3,33), if you're working with adobe production premium - so for using cuda / mercury?
Because I think the Gtx 285 is rather old... And the Quadro FX 4800 is rather expensive; I know about this hack, which enables cuda for other cards (but I dunno the details there). Or is it actually really the best option, to buy some PC-workstation for that purpose? I like Macs more, and then of course one can use Final Cut as well...
I also read somewhere, Cuda isn't fully supported by Mac OS - but I always supposed, the OS hasn't got so much to do with this topic; apparently it does?
Thanks in advance for help!Old can be good (tried true tested) and it has taken so long to get drivers. Will new cards mean starting over at ground 0? Maybe GTX 4xx would could ought to eventually, and put to good use.
A workstation makes sense, too. Apple doesn't offer dual 3.33 as a BTO configuration. an EVGA SR2 workstation can and 30k score in Geekbench. No idea of course why. I know one other person wants to do that, too.
In that other thread I pointed that it is difficult but possible to use another card and another PSU and set of 6/8-pin aux connectors. There are people running with an ATI and using GTX 285 for rendering and CUDA. OpenCL is still 1.1 and too new and has yet to finds its way into ATI and Adobe to the extent that CUDA 3.1+ can and has.
And yes, graphic drivers under the OS have everything to do with it.
Running Windows on Mac; or building out your own PC workstation even one using dual Xeon (though the 2nd cpu is only about 70% as efficient if you look at say a pair of X5680/5690s. So they ended up building two workstations with single 3.33 each. And they are in the end just tools and a platform.
Nvidia has a number of Quadro cards that they are working on.
So no idea where that goes.
For now, 5870 is probably safe bet and then...
ARS did an article on Mac Pro 2009 Nehalem and 3D coming up short.
There is no average when it comes to Mac Pro or production. -
Strange lines on my screen - graphics card issue?
Hi!
I'm totally new in this forum but from what I've read you guys really knows a lot about macs.
I have experienced some flickering lines appearing on my screen especially when watching graphic intensive webpages or changing resolution in games or switching to full screen on flash-based video websites. These lines are often accompanied by a low twittering noise from the computer. Sometimes it's just a few lines but sometimes the whole screen is covered. Logging off will fix the problem temporarily.
My theory is that my graphics card is giving up. What do you think? Is there something to do about it other than to change the card?
I have run tech tool 5 without any errors.
I would really appreciate some help. I took a pic of the screen with my iPhone but I suppose I can't upload it here for you to see?I've seen screens like that due to a seating problem with the card.
As you describe, logging out, or a restart would restore the screen.
When I first saw this behavior, it was when the machine was awakened from Sleep......
Reseat the card, and when tightening the hold down screw, make sure the card does not pull over to one side as the screw is tightened.
The clockwise turn of the screw can move the card over (down in the G5) which can cause some pins to have weak contact.
Also take care that the card is not tilted forward at all.
Pulling on the cables can cause the connectors toward the rear of the card to slightly lift out of the slot.
If, after cleaning, and adjusting the seating of the card, the symptoms continue, or especially if they worsen, the card may be considered compromised.
I would also try running the machine in a new user account just to be sure that a software problem within the account isn't culprit. -
Can I use two graphics card in Mac Pro
In order to use the CUDA advantage in Adobe Premiere Pro I bought an NVIDA Quadro FX4800. The original graphics processor in my Mac Pro (mid2010) is a ATI Radeon HD 5770. Can I use both cards? How do I ensure that Premiere is using the CUDA architecture if both cards are installed? Does a graphics card work if no monitor is attached to it?
Newer cards have minidisplay port and then use MDP to DVI (active dual link for higher resolution).
Yes you can have an ATI and Quadro or GTX.
Most people, based on cost/performance go with newest Nvidia instead.
You can run up against the limits of having two 6-pin aux power connections available. -
P7-1490 upgrade Graphics Card and Power Supply
I just got a GEFORCE GTX 650TI Boost graphics card. The 300 watt Power Supply on my P7-1490 can't handle it because I need a 6 pin power connector. The 1490 comes with a 300 Watt Power Supply. I need something at least 450 watts. Which upgrade will fit my box. In addition, can the Jasmine Motherboard handle the new graphics card. It does fit into the PCI Express slot.
This question was solved.
View Solution. Please consider the Corsair CX500, CX500M, CX600, or CX600M power supplies for your needs. Yes, the Jasmine motherboard in your p7-1490 should be capable of handling the GTX 650 Ti. Additionally, you will need to disable "Secure Boot" and possibly enable "Legacy Support" in the BIOS before installing the GTX 650 Ti.

Graphics cards to Creative Suite 5
Which of these graphics cards will be the best to Adobe Creative Suite 5 Production Premium
I am not fammiliar with most of these. I can offer a comparison that might help, I am running the nVidia 4800 which handles everything I have thrown at it without a hiccup. This includes of course CS5 Master Collection, but also 3ds max, Mudbox (very resource intensive), Motionbuilder and Vue 8.
You might want to compare 4800 specs versus your primary choices and see what comes closest.
