4.x: Document Link passing range parameter to a WebI rpt using BEx query

I'm new to working with BEx queries, so I may use the wrong terminology.  I'm trying to create a document hyperlink from one WebI report to another.  Both are based on BEx queries, which I didn't create, nor do I have access to modify.  The BEx query for the target report has a parameter, Fiscal year/period, which is a range parameter.  The displayed value in a report or in pick lists is in the format "JUL 2010".  The key is in the format "K4/007/2010".
I have tried using the Document Link expert to configure passing the range parameter, but have been unsuccessful.  The typical result is an error message, ERR_WIS_30270, which is most likely the result of an incorrect format for passing the range.  I've not been able to locate adequate documentation that describes the syntax for passing a range value to a BEx parameter.  I've successfully created Document Links to reports using BEx queries that have a parameter that requires a single value, and I've done Document links in non-Bex reports in 3.1 without issues.
Has anyone successfully passed a range value to a BEx paramter?   If so, what syntax did you use?
The environment is BI 4.0, sp 2 (14.0.2.439)

Marianne,
Thanks for the heads up on the fixpack.  I tried looking at the note # you sent, but a search of SAP Notes says that the note has not been released.  However, reviewing the Fixed Issues in fixpack 6 shows the following item:
ADAPT01580012
Link to a WebIntelligence report using syntax OpenDocument fails when target document contains a prompt
based on a BEx variable of type Interval. Error message is "An internal error occurred while calling
'answerPromptEx' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270)".
Behavior is now correct and refresh operation takes into account interval answer passed in OpenDocument URL.
Now we just need to upgrade to fp 2.6 to see if it resolves this issue.  I've also opened a ticket with support, so I'll see what they say.

  • Web link to pass the parameter to custom web app then update the field

    Hi,
I have created the web link in service request object to refer Account Object. I want to let user able to select the account from web link then base on the current SR no and account that have created update the record in CRMOD. My question is how to pass the parameter out to my external web app so that they can update my SR correctly?
    Thank you

    Hi Messer,
I have put in the syntax as below :-
    https://secure-ausomxega.crmondemand.com/OnDemand/user/AssocAccountPopup?mapBC=Service+Request&OACTRL=Account&ophi=PopupNewForm.Account+Id&pfid=PopupNewForm&OMTHD=AssocPopup&OMTGT=PopupSearchList&assocInit=Y&opht=4&OAOBJ=Service+Request&mapField=Account&ophd=PopupNewForm.Account&ophpd=3&disableclear=Y&ophr=AssocAccountPopup&assocval=&ParentType=Edit
This pop up screen wil let the user to select the account then i will pass the account and the SR to external web app to update back the CRMOD. I am not too sure the above syntax is correct or maybe can you give some example.
I am new in CRMOD, hope that you can advice on this.
    Thank you,
    SK

  • Passing a parameter from a web application to the sub report.

Hi I am currently passing a parameter from the webpage into the main crystal report.  I would like to pass this same parameter to the subreport but when I right click on the subreport from the main report I can find the parameter on the main report but there is nothing to link it to on the subreport (since this window just shows the dataset).  I also tried adding a parameter to the subreport but it does not show up in the link window on the (select data in subreport to link to).  I am using vs2005 and the crystal reports that comes with this.
    Thanks.

    Hi, Paul;
There are many samples on our site that show passing parameters to both main reports and subreports. Have a search at

  • Can I pass a parameter to a mapping without using a process flow?

I have to load data from multiple countries at different times. Rather than creating an individual mapping for each country, I want to create 1 mapping and pass the country code as a parameter to the mapping. I tried to use an input parameter in the mapping and add a custom parameter to the sqlplus_exec_template hoping the custom parameter would pass to the mapping input parameter but it's not working. No data loads.
When I add a default value to the input parameter, the data loads but this isn't the solution I need. The value of the parameter will vary depending on the country so I can't use defaults. Since the mappings load automatically, I need the script to be able to pass the parameter in.
I'm trying to avoid going through a process flow because that just seems like overkill for what I need to do. I just want to load all the data where country code = 'X'. Is this even possible?

o.k. I tried everything to see which would be the best scenario.
Zeppo - I can't use your solution because ".main", I believe, applies to an older version of OWB. We have 10g. I know in 3.1 ".main" applies because I still have mappings from that version. Doesn't apply to 10g.
Sutirtha - I set the property for the prompt but it still didn't work.
MccM - Yes, the premapping process works perfectly. Only thing is that I have to come up with so many different scenarios in the If then else logic. Giving me a migraine ...
    .... so ....
I punked out and created a table that stores all of the load times by country code. In the joiner, I linked the table's country code to the country code in my view and only retrieved data where the table's load hour equals the sysdate hour. Now all I have to do is change an entry in the working table if I need to reschedule a load.
It's cluggy but it works ... and I met me goal of only using 1 mapping.
Thanks to all of you for providing your input. Much appreciated.

  • How to pass a parameter into a select statement using a bulk collect

Using a cursors I can use execute immediate to pass a parameter to specify a table name.
I have modified the procedure not to use the cursor. I am using a collection using a bulk insert into a nested table. How can I specify the table the table name as a parameter without using the execute immediate statement.
    Thank you

    Hi Donald,
The functionality of using a parameter in a function is only available in the formula editor and not in SQL Expression. Parameters cannot be passed to the SQL Expression, the main purpose of the SQL Expression is to make use of Database functions to make calculations at the database level but the current functionality of the product only allows you to use Database fields.
There is an article that talks on SQL Expressions and can be useful http://technicalsupport.businessobjects.com/KanisaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=c2016184&sliceId=&dialogID=6018612&stateId=1%200%206020316

Ok just as I expected. So I guess I am left with the following two options
    1) either I switched to using JAXB in my apps instaed of xmlbeans....
    2) or if I still wanna use the old JAX-RPC web services to deploy on the Weblogic 10gR3 server i will have to create my own ant task jwsc directly......as shown below in your docs
Programming Web Services for WebLogic Server (ant tasks)
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs92/webserv/anttasks.html
Getting Started With WebLogic Web Services Using JAX-RPC
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/webserv_rpc/index.html
Will OEPE be supporting the old JAX-RPC anytime in the near future release? or have to create own build ant task to call jwsc ant task directly to compile JAX-RPC web services??

  • Using Bex query through Query Browser - add result set to Cell range?

    Hi all,
I have up to now used Xcelsius on NW with BICS connection towards BEx queries.
When I use this connection via Data Manager in Xcelsius, I'm able to use the Cross-table functionality to insert my entire dataset into a cell Range.
But now I have an requirement to save my Dashboards on the BO server, so I need to go through Query Browser to extract data from SAP BW to my Dashboard.
When inserting the query in the Query browser and I want to assign the data to Excel ranges, it seems like I need to do this for each individual Infoobject and Key Figure. Since I have many Key Figures (30-50), this is a lenghty process.
Is there a way to insert the entire dataset from Query into a cell range (both rows and columns), or do I need to do this for each Key Figure as indicated in the screen shot above?
--> I know that the Query Browser flattens my cross-table from the Query, but still, it should be possible to avoid to input all my Key Figures (30-50) individually to corresponding cells in my Excel part of the Dashboard.
    regards

    Hi Oddmar,
If you want to display the data retrieved from the query you could map the data using the Query data.
Pull scorecard component (for example) and in properties if you see the Display data click on the dropdown and select Query data.
    Hope this helps !

  • Passing Range Parameter for BO Publication for Dynamic Recepient list

    Hello,
We have a Crystal report on top of BEx and we are passing input values for the parameters using another Crystal Report.
We are trying to pass a date range from Dynamic Recipient List to date prompt under personalization.
The format in which we are trying to pass is "05/06/2010 : 09/22/2010" and we are getting the below error in log file:
Document for recipients {} failed: Internal error.
Document for recipients {} failed: Cannot Map Multiple Profile Values to a Single Parameter Field: {[ZOC_DATE]} in Report: ABC_VendorFiscal.
Document for recipients {} failed: Internal error. (FBE60502)
How do we the pass values to date range?
    Regards,
    Vishal

I came accross the same problem with BIP 4.0 and CR2011 on BW MDX.
By searching on the SAP notes I have found this one which is apparently only a workaround:

  • Passing a parameter to a Web start app

Hi, I'm having trouble getting a single integer value into my web start application. I understand how you do this with a JNLP however I need a different value for this integer depending on a PHP script. With applets it was fairly simple but with web start apps it seems a little more complex - the only way I could think of was to recreate the entire JNLP file via the PHP script which seems a bit cumbersome if all that's changing is a single integer.
I had a look around on the web for information about this but it seems that information on passing parameters to web start applications is few and far between.
I'd be very grateful for an answer!
    Thanks.

    alex.p wrote:
So in this case how would I pass the integer as a parameter to the webstart app. Is there no way of simply putting it in the link to the JNLP e.g ?
You could do that if you liked. Is there some expectation that the user will run the web start application after you do that? Or that the user won't already be running it? Or that the user will ever run it? I think you should back up and try to figure out what the point of this parameter is. Is it supposed to make something happen? Or are you just changing the application for the next time a user gets around to using it? Or what? As I said, this really doesn't make much sense so you need to provide a requirement that does make sense if you want to get anywhere at all.

  • Linking the restrictions on different characteristics by OR in BEx query

    Hi ,
Can anyone suggest on how  a Bex query can be bulit   in which the restrictions on different characteriastics are combined by OR .
For eg. select *  from infoprovider where plant = '3001 'or distibution channel = '05' .
The usual way of resticting different characteristics goes with AND  combination between the characteristics  in Bex.
Working out through conditions is also not possible as characteristics have to be combined with OR not keyfigures.
    Regards,
    Narasimha.

    Hi,
This can be done. Try the follwoing.
    Create 3 RKF/Selctions.
RKF1 --> Restrict on Plant 3001, Include the required base key figure
RKF2--> Restrict on Distribution Chnnel 05, Include the required Key Figure
    Now create a CKF1 = RKF1 + RKF2, display the CKF in query.
If you have case where Plant is 3001 and Dist channel is 05 abd this also be displayed then above calculation will give you twice as base key figure which will be incorrect, In rest of the cases only one RKF will fetch the value so it will be correct.
Now to over come this create one more RKF3
RKF3 -- Restrict Plant 3001, Dist Channel 05 and base key figure,
    Create one CKF2 on this
    CKF2 = 0-RKF3
Now you have to change the CKF1's definition
    CKF1=RKF1+RKF2-CKF2
    Display CKF1 in report
    I hope it will help.

  • Pass a parameter from webi to Xcelsius

    Hi all,
Anybody knows how to pass a parameter from a webi report to Xcelsius via URL?
I need to refresh the Xcelsius data with a parameter coming from the webi report. With Live Office works but only the first time: the data is not being refreshed in Xcelsius everytime I change the parameter in the webi report.
I'm thinking in someting like openDocument.jsp but how do I read this parameter in Xcelsius? Which connection should I use?
    Thank you very much,
    jon

    Hi Peter,
the link provided refers to Xcelsius V4.5.
In Xcelsius 2008 you have to control Flash Vars in the Data Manager.
Go to the Data Manager, Add the Flash-Var Connection Type, Select CSV-FlashVar and define a name and a range.
But i am not sure if Xcelsius Engage can handle FlashVars, because i am only working with Enterprise.
Please take a look at your manual.
For sure there are other ways to import data during runtime. Take a Look at the Connections provided by Data Manager. (e.g. QaaWS, SSRS, LiveOffice, Webservices, ...)
Also take a look at the link below. It might be another nice option for "pseudo" data connectivity

  • Passing a parameter to Web Dynpro from an external system

    Hi All,
I want to pass a parameter to a Web Dynpro Application from an external browser.
I have developed a simple application with an input "ServiceOrder".
In the Portal I have created an Iview for the Web Dynpro application and have set an Application Parameter (ServiceOrder="000003000012"). Just for testing.
In web Dynpro Controller I have created an attribute in the Context and write tje code below in the wdDoInit.
    String SO = WDProtcolAdapter.getProtoclAdapter().getRequestParameter("ServiceOrder");
    wdContext.currentContextElement.setServiceOrder(SO);
My problem is that the String SO is empty.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Ridouan

    Hi R. Taibi,
    try this.
    IWDProtocolAdapter protocolAdapter = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter();
    IWDRequest request = protocolAdapter.getRequestObject();
    wdContext.currentContextElement().setServiceOrder(request.getParameter("ServiceOrder"));
    regards

  • Hyperion Planner - Cell Document Links

    Hi
I am trying to add a document link to a cell within a web form in Hyperion Planner. The document I wish to link to is simply on a shared server / local drive. Therefore the file path looks like:
    T:\FINANCE\My Document.doc
However, an error message is produced saying that it "Entered value is not a valid URL for an attachment". If you put http:// in front of the above path it accepts it.
I assume there is a rule in place to check that the link has http:// at the start.
Is there a way to switch this validation off or adjust it? Or a way to get around this?
    Thank you
    Martin

    Thanks John.
However, in a web broswer you could type "T:\FINANCE\My Document.doc" and it would open the document. Therefore there is no requirement for the link to start with "http://" which seems to be the rule in place.
Is there no way to get around this?
Uploading documents to the work space is not really an ideal solution as it duplicates document storage.
    Thanks

  • How to pass command line arguments to Web Start appclient?

    Hi,
I would like to pass arguments to appclient, but "javaws" unable to do that.
Do I have to overwrite the JNLP? I use Sun Appserver 9.0, it creates JNLP on the fly!!!
    Please help, thanx!
    MB

    Hi, MB.
If you are talking about the automatic Java Web Start support for launching app clients in GlassFish, you can pass the equivalent of command line arguments using the query string of the URL you use to launch the app client.
    Briefly, use
    http://host:port/client-path?arg=first-arg&arg=second-arg& ...
specifying the argument values in the order that you want them passed to the client.
The GlassFish server will do the right thing and generates the correct JNLP so your arguments are passed to the app client.
The GlassFish developer's guide http://glassfish.dev.java.net/nonav/javaee5/docs/AS91DG.pdf discusses this and all aspects of the Java Web Start support. You can also take a look at this blog entry http://blogs.sun.com/quinn/entry/command_line_arguments_and_properties that focuses on how to pass arguments.
Since this technique deals with argument passing in the URL, it works no matter how you launch the app client: a URL in a browser, the javaws command, etc.
