4'x6" photo paper not feeding

I have a HP Officejet 6500 printer. 8.5 x11 paper feeds fine.  When I put in 4x6 photo paper the paper does not feed. I set the paper size and installed the paper according to the directions.

Hi there bradman3805,
This article should cover the feed issue you are having. Give the steps outlined a shot and let us know if it helps.

When printing, the printer always jams a second or two after the start.. When the tray is removed, you can see that one sheet of paper has moved forward until the leading edge just touches the separation roller.
I suspected worn rollers, so I replaced the separation roller (RF5-2490) and the tray pickup roller (RF5-2490). The printer still jams as before.
I now suspect that one or more of the 4 D-shape pickup rollers (RB1-8957) may need replacing. I have read the Service Manual for the printer:
    http://www.feedroller.com/Store/Service%20Manual/LASERJET%204000,%204000N,%204000T,%204000TN%20Servi...
but I am not sure which sub-assembly to remove to get at the rollers. Advice anyone?

  • HP Advanced Photo Paper not listed in my printer profile in Photoshop Elements 7

I have an HP 6310 Officejet printer and have successfully printed photos on (8" X 10") HP Premier Plus photo paper.  However, (4" X 6") HP Advanced Photo Paper does not appear in my Photoshop Elements list of papers for selection.
    Can you help?

In case you are not getting the option to select the paper from PSE, you can go to printer settings through the icon present in the print dialog box, there you can select the paper. The paper selected in the advanced options should be reflected in PSE as well.

  • PAPER NOT FEEDING CORRECTLY

I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY PRINTER NOT FEEDING PROPERLY...IT STARTS TO FEED AND IT IS NOT GRABBING ON THE ONE SIDE THEREFORE IT IS CRUSHING THE PAPER...IS THERE A WAY I CAN CLEAN THE FEEDERS OR ROLLERS..NOT SURE HOW TO EVEN GET TO THEM

Based on your description @COTTONLIPS, it sounds like there could be something inside the printer preventing the roller from working properly. I suggest watching the following video and completing the recommended solutions presented: Fixing a Paper Jam - HP Deskjet
You may notice the full title of this video is Fixing a Paper Jam - HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer, but it applies to many of the Deskjet models, including your 2050.
    I hope this helps.

  • Paper not feeding

    HI
The printer paper is feeding only about three inches into the printer, then stopping. At first, a 'paper jam' message kept appearing. I followed all the trouble shooting advice. Then, an 'ink replacement' message started appearing, even though all ink has been replaced and the ink report is telling me ink is fine. Now the printer is appearing as offline on my computer, even though the printer itself seems to be connected.
I have tried to reboot the printer by turning off and on again, as per troubleshooting advice, but no luck. Any help gratefully received.
    Many thanks.

Welcome to the HP Community @susiem1 ,
I read your post about how your Photosmart 5510 is only feeding the paper a few inches in the printer and stopping, and also showing as "offline". You will need to first target on the hardware issues first. Please try following the first link to troubleshoot the "Paper Jam" issue first, and if the problem clears up and the printer will successfully feed paper, follow the second guide for fixing the "offline" issue.

  • C6280 not feeding paper

I recently have had a problem with the paper not feeding correctly (jamming)  and now I can not get the paper to feed.....   I have cleaned the rollers in the back but still a problem...  do I need to replace the unit with the rollers in the back????    The printer has worked great for several years....

I'm having a very similar issue. Only now, instead of simply not loading the paper correctly, my printer will not put any ink on the page. it just runs one or more pieces of paper through, makes the noises, and then stops as if it did something. I'm at my wits end. Here's hoping I can find the receipt....

  • Officejet Pro 8600 (N911a) will not feed photo paper - Definitive Answer!!!!

    DUST IS THE CULPRIT!
As per the HP support page for this specific problem, cleaning the rollerhead (The rubber part of the pick roller), is the solution.
    HP Solution here (with pictures).
The specifics are found under the heading:
Solution four: Clean the paper rollers
My printer was able to pick up regular paper, but not photo paper.  I updated all drivers (they automatically update weekly).  I tried every combination of paper in the tray: 1 sheet of photo paper, a large stack of regular paper with 1 photo paper, large stack with 5 sheets of photo paper.  Every combination failed, and the best it got was 1 page of photo paper with the next sheet underneath also coming with it.
I put the thing on its side, and used RUBBING ALCOHOL, (not water as they suggest... rubbing alcohol is much better for electronics, and pretty much any cleaning application.... evaporates very quickly), with a true lint free cloth.  Went over it several times with the cloth, rotating while cleaning, and used an AIR DUSTER to clean out the internals, and dry off the PICK ROLLER.
I RESET ROLLER POSITION to the original place, as shown in the HP Photo on support page.
Lastly, ONE SHEET OF PAPER at a time.
It took all that, and I'm still not happy with HP for this massive oversight... but it got my photos printing again.  Hopefully it will for you too!!

I managed to find a temporary solution as i need to print a photo urgently :
I sticked a piece of scotchtape along the top border of the paper (on the back side) and then it could feed. And i don't know why, but after this first print with scotchtape, the next photo papers would feed normally.
I hope it helps you guys. See the picture:

  • HP Officejet 6500A Plus does not feed paper

HP Officejet 6500A Plus, Mac OS X 10.6.8,The printer does not feed paper.  Then gives the message that 'printer is out of paper'.  I have done all of the reset and cleaning procedures recommended on the HP web site.  That does not correct the problem when I do 'Print Status Report'.Observing through the front with a flashlight, the paper feed mechanism comes down on top of the paper stack, but the rollers do not feed paper.  Then the feed mechanism lifts up and the error message 'printer is out of paper' is displayed on the small screen on the printer. If a single sheet of paper is inserted deep into the printer so that it can be captured by the print rollers, then the printer produces a normal 'printer status report'.The problem appeared after printing some photos on official HP photo paper with new official HP cartridges. Advice? From:molybdenum

  • Why do I not have access to all the features of my Canon MG5320 printer in all applications which use a printer? The printer has two paper paths. The rear path is used for photo paper and other specialty papers. this is only one "unavailable".

I have an iMac late 2012 with OSX 10.8.
The MG5320 has two paper feed paths; one at the rear for photo paper, brochure paper, and other specialty papers and a tray for regular 8½x11 paper. It also can print on CDs and DVDs and has an automatic duplexer. Canon provides a utility for printing on the CDs and DVDs and also for printing photos and other specialty items. This is available in Mac format also. I installed the most recent drivers and utilities.
I also have a HP IBM Compatible computer on which the above printer as well as an Epson are installed. Every option of each printer is available in every software application that has need for a printer.
The Mac printer dialog varies from one application to another. The only applications that list the option for selecting paper quality which includes photo paper are Office for Mac, Pages, and Numbers. Not likely that I would be using any of these for photo printing. Auto duplexing, however, is not available here or in any other applications.
The print dialog in Aperture, Photoshop Elements for Mac, ACDSee for Mac, or iPhoto provide the choice of numerous sizes of paper but no option for paper quality. Therefore, I attempted to use the print utility supplied by Canon and updated by Apple for printing some photos. The photos are selected in this utility. When the print command was given I was shown a message that the printer was being reset. It then began printing a spreadsheet, which was not even open, from the front tray on regular paper in fast draft quality.
It is essential that the rear feed be available for printing photos. The printer will not accept photo paper from the front tray. The greater proportion of my printing is photos or other specialty items all of which use paper that must be fed from the rear feed.
An acquaintence who considers himself to be somewhat of a Mac expert insists that the printer options that I require are available and all I need to do is look for them. The print dialog should be clear enough that "looking for options" is not a necessity. Even so, I have dilligently searched every variation of the Mac print dialog on my iMac and only the office type applications named above included anything other than the basic printer functions.
I have also searched numerous locations online without finding a solution. I did, however, find that printing and printing problems seem to be common with several versions of the Mac OS and Mac computers in general.
I would appreciate it if someone could provide me with a solution. I have no desire to upgrade my Windows OS to Windows 8 which is perhaps suitable for "smart" phones but not desktop computers. However, because of the printing issue I have temporarily put my iMac aside and reverted to using my PC with Windows Vista.

  • HP Photosmart C5180 Will no longer feed 8x11 Photo paper from main tray

My C5180 all in one will no longer feed 8x11 photo paper from main tray.  Rollers slip and will not pull paper in. Any suggestions?
    583seve

    Hi @583seve
I see youa re having some difficulty with your Photosmart C5180. The following document addresses both out of paper messages and issues with paper pick; 'Out of Paper' Error Message Displays and the Product Does Not Pick Up or Feed Paper.
If the issue persists, you might consider trying the steps in a paper jam document. Although you may not be experiencing a paper jam, the steps in this document may be all that is left to try; 'Clear paper jam, then press OK' Error Message Displays on the Control Panel.
I hope this helps, but if after all your efforts the issue remains, I suggest calling HP. They may be able to offer you a discount on a newer model as part of a trade in trade up option. If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
