40% Discount - if you already own a product

Hi All,
I'm trying to find some way that I - as a home, not professional user - can make the CC package affordable. I use it in work and would also like to use it for 'hobby' work at home.
I realise this may not be in the spirit of the offer! - but technically:
if I bought any single piece of Adobe Software - at anytime, even today - between CS3 and CS5 - does that then entitle me to the 40% discount? Cynical I know but... technically?
At least it's legal.
Thanks folks,
John

Apple has changed their pricing models with the App Store.
Basically there is no longer such a thing as an "upgrade" price.  There's just a "full" price.  Every time you get a major new edition you pay the "full" price again (but software updates within that major version are free).
While this sounds bad... they've offset that by just lowering the price of new software in general.
If you total up what you'd spend for your initial "full" price for software plus the price of each incremental "upgrade" edition of the software (times however many upgrade versions you buy) and then compare it to that same number of "full" prices versions purchased at the App Store, you'll find that you're still saving money at the App Store.  So while there is no "upgrade" price anymore... you're still coming out ahead.
My issue with the new Final Cut Pro X is that I think it's such a disappointment that it's not even worth the reduced $300 price.  I basically view this software as an advanced edition of iMovie and I think it should have been priced as such.

    Disney Mickey Mouse Vol. 1
    I just tried this on my iPhone 5 (iOS 6.1.0). I did an iTunes Store search for "Mickey Mouse"...
    After the search result:
    1. Panned over to "Disney Mickey Mouse Vol. 1"
    2. Tapped the icon
    3. Tapped on the right-facing arrow next to "Info"
    At this point nothing happened no matter how many times I tapped the right-facing arrow next to "Info"
    I then:
    1. Tapped the Search button at the top left which took me back to the initial search results.
    2. Tapped on "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Vol.1" (a totally different title)
    3. Tapped on the right-facing arrow next to "Info"
    Then I was presented with the options dialog which includes "Gift"
    I then went back to:
    1. "Disney Mickey Mouse Vol. 1"
    2. Tapped the icon
    3. Tapped on the right-facing arrow next to "Info"
    At this point, I was now presented with the options dialog which includes "Gift"
    So in my case, going through the motions with a -different title-, then going back to  "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Vol.1" fixed it for me.

  • HT2736 Unable to gift app if you already own it

    I already have an app installed and I want to gift it to someone (without making their Mac one of my authorized computers) but gifting the app is not one of the options on the dropdown menu in the iTunes Store if you already own it. Solutions?

    Sign out first, then click on the gift option.

  • Reading books you already own in other apps

    I have my epub books in ibooks now but i'm curious if it's possible to take books I already have and somehow use them in the kindle or B&N apps?

    It depends on how you acquired them.
    If you bought them via the iBooks store the answer is no. Epub books bought from Apple are encrypted with Fairplay DRM (keyed to your iTunes account) and only Apple iBooks spps will decrypt them for reading.
    If you buy unencrypted (no DRM) ebooks in ePub format you can read them in any reader or app that can read ePub format books - which is practically everyone except the Kindle.
    Most of the electronic book publishers encrypt their books (DRM) with some flavor or another so that they only work in the reader/platform you bought them for.

  • How do you re-download tracks you already own?

    When I updated my iphone to IOS5 it restored factory settings and I lost some of my music. I have tried to re-download it but I can't as it says I already have it. Is it stored somewhere that i can recover it from and if not how do I download it again?

    Are the songs not in the iTunes library on your computer?
    What happens when trying to redownload them via iTunes on the computer?
    Does iTunes list the song but have an ! next to it?  If so, that means the file is not where iTunes expects to find it.  Either locate the file on the computer or delete it from the iTunes library to allow for it to be redownloaded.

  • Will I be able to download songs I already own in 256Kbps?

    I was under the impression that when I subscribe to iTunes Match, songs I already own on CD will be able to be downloaded at 256Kbps on my computer.  The reason this would be of some value to me is some of the songs I imported from CDs were from slightly damaged disks and have some audio "artifacts" during playback. Re-importing at different compressions has done nothing to improve the sound quality and I've resorted to re-purchasing some of the tracks and in some cases, entire CDs so I can get clean copies.
    Reading the features of iTunes Match, I thought that if a song you already own is available on iTunes, you would be able to download it via iTunes Match at 256Kbps.
    Is this acurate or can you only stream at 256Kbps? Is iTunes actually uloading the bad tracks for playback even though a clean copy is available in the store?
    A few of my damaged tracks play back that way, damaged.  They did not previously exist on my iPhone during my test so I'm a little confused...

    Downloading about 4300 higher bit rate replacements as I write this...and they're mine to keep regardless of whether or not I renew new year (which I will).
    Make sure you enable the iCloud Status field to see whether or not the track was Matched or Uploaded.  If uploaded, you would only be redownloading the version you have and not a replacement.

  • I want to buy Production Premium CS6, but I already own Flash Professional.  Is there a way I can avoid paying for the same product twice?

    I have a feeling I already know the answer to this question, but I figured it was worth asking anyway.
    Just under a year ago, I purchased Flash Professional CS6 for school.  Now that I am expanding my practices, I am interested in purchasing the Production Premium bundle of programs.  However, it already comes with Flash CS6, and if I can avoid paying for the same product twice, I'd like to do so.
    Is it possible for me to either get some kind of discount on the suite since I already own one of the programs?

  • Re-Install a product I already own CS4

    I have tried over and over again to re-install CS4 and the 2nd disk gets stuck at the same place every time. I have begun to believe that my cd drive just isn't working very well anymore. I have the serial numbers and I can use illustrator and a few other programs but Photoshop just never gets installed properly. Is there any way I can download the product I already own and install it completely?

    You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
    Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • Installing cc when I already own stand alone products??

    I am needing to get Illustrator and In Design.  Rather than subscribe 2 single apps, I am considering getting the entire CC suite.  I already own the stand alone versions of Acrobat XI and Lightroom 5, and I see they are included in CC suite.  My question is this:  If I get CC will my perpetual licenses still be good for the Acrobat and Lightroom, or does everything revert to the CC subscription?  Reason I ask is because I work for a small company that doesn't upgrade regularly and after 1 year may or may not renew the CC subscription for the 2 products I'm interested in....but I most definitely need to keep the Acrobat and Lightroom.  Would I lose those if the CC subscription ended?

    HI Kwghostship,
    You will not loose any of your stand alone owned products which you have. Even if you do not renew your Creative Cloud membership after an year you can anytime download Acrobat 11 and Lightroom 5 and use your serial key to activate the product.
    I hope it answers your query, if not, you can let me know for any further query.

  • Setup has detected you already have a more functional product installed....

    Ok, have adobe standard XI. end user needs Pro to redact sections of pdf's.
    paid 199.00 for digital upgrade from standard to pro. download...execute...
    error on starting setup. setup has detected you already have a more functional product installed....installation will now terminate.
    I have 2 choices. the Go to hell adobe your product dont work, and process a refund.
    or
    try to get phone technical support.
    Honestly why does adobe make it so difficult to work with them. My company needs digital signatures and i'd never use adobe. Adobe support is the worst in the IT industry imo and apparently their software developers cant determine that Pro is and UPGRADE from standard.
    if anyone understands a work around i'd be interested in hearing but i can't say i've ever had an efficient experience with adobe and i wish i could find an alternative for adobe acrobat pro.

    First you are attempting to install Acrobat Pro XI over Acrobat Standard XI and it's throwing an error that you have a more capable product.  While not the most elegant or even correct message IMHO what it means is that you can't install the same version of Pro over Standard. If they were different versions (ie. Acrobat Pro XI over Acrobat Standard X ) then it would work.   There are good reasons for this installation error, but let us try to get you to the place where you can actually get the work that you need to get done accomplished.
    You can use a virtual machine like VMWare, VirtualPC, Parallels, or Oracle VirtualBox to host another Windows instance and load Adobe Acrobat Pro on that vm.  These are really the best way to keep things on the same machine and have both as separate usable installations.  In all cases, you provide the Windows installation media. The price of the VM software varies from free to some reasonable prices.   Your choice though.
    VMWare is a purchased product Windows and Mac:  http://www.vmware.com
    Parallels is a purchased product for Mac only:  http://www.parallels.com
    VirtualPC is downloadable from Microsoft at no cost:  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3702
    Oracle VirtualBox is downloadable from Oracle at no cost: https://www.virtualbox.org
    And one more thing... you need to contact Adobe Customer service because you should be using the full Acrobat XI installer with a full blown installer Serial Numberand not the upgrade installer with an upgrade serial number.

  • What if you gift an app to someone who already owns that app?

    I'd like to know what happens if you gift an app to someone who happens to already own it. Ideally, iTunes would check, and let you know there's no need to gift that app, and maybe suggest something else.
    Anyone know for sure what happens? Otherwise, it kinda ruins it if you always ask people, "Hey, do you own XYZ?" "No, why?" "Just wondering."

    Can he convert the gift into store credit?
    No.
    Is there an official policy on this?
    http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html#APPS
    "Gifts are not refundable"
    If the money is just lost, who can I send a message to in order to voice my concerns?
    You can comment to Apple through the iTunes feedback page.
    Buying a gift for anyone always carries the risk that they already have it. Not even all stores selling physical goods allow exchanges and returns, and electronic goods almost never are returnable. So if you're thinking of giving an electronic gift, you really need to be confident that they recipient doesn't already have it, or just accept the risk that they will and that your money will be lost. Note that if the gift was in the form of a redemption code not linked specifically to that person's email address, the recipient could pass the gift on to someone else.
    Regards.

  • When trying to install Adobe Standard XI, it says, "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Steup will now terminate."  I have a Pro trial installed but did not seed so much functionality so I purchased standard.

    uninstall any acrobat and reader versions, if you have win os clean (Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs) and then install acrobat std.

  • WLS 12.1.2.0.0 : Another user (admin2) already owns the lock.

    hi
    Please consider a WebLogic Server 12.1.2.0.0 that is NOT in Production Mode (so in Development Mode).
    When is a button like "Take Lock & Edit" (ever) to be expected?
    Or messages like :
    - "admin2 is currently making changes."
    - "Another user (admin2) already owns the lock. You will need to either wait for the lock to be released, or take the lock."
    If both users "admin1" and "admin2" are in the "Administrators" group,
    the following scenario (sc1) seems to be reproducible:
    - (sc1-a) start a first browser session and login on the WLS admin-server console using "admin1"
    - (sc1-b) start a second browser session and login on the WLS admin-server console using "admin2"
    - (sc1-c) in the second browser session, click Deployments
    - (sc1-d) in the first browser session, click Deployments and see the "Take Lock & Edit" button and messages
    -- "admin2 is currently making changes."
    -- "Another user (admin2) already owns the lock. You will need to either wait for the lock to be released, or take the lock."
    The scenario (sc1) is included in the screencast
    at http://screencast.com/t/Yw3k3EI1
    - (q1) Is the lock message in scenario (sc1) intended behavior?
    It could be that these "locks" are causing our Jenkins jobs (doing an Ant wldeploy task) to fail when someone is "browsing" using the WebLogic Server console, with

    The answer to this "(q1) Is the lock message in scenario (sc1) intended behavior?" you already know. Just for good measure see the documentation on managing locks (5 Managing a Domain's Configuration with JMX). Note that in development mode the locking in the admin console is automatic, you can change this in Admin Console - click the preferences link, User Preferences tab, here you can change the 'Automatically Acquire Lock and Activate Changes' option.
    WebLogic provides a ConfigurationManagerMBean (http://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1212/wls/WLMBR/mbeans/EditServiceMBean.html?skipReload=true#ConfigurationManager) that provides methods for safely starting an edit session. You can use haveUnactivatedChanges (http://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1212/wls/WLMBR/mbeans/ConfigurationManagerMBean.html?skipReload=true#haveUnactivatedChanges) to check if there are any pending changes (this gives you an indication if someone that has taken a lock is doing some actual changes to the system, such that the ANT job can decide not to start an edit session). If there is an edit session going on and there are no pending changes you can call undoUnactivatedChanges (http://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1212/wls/WLMBR/mbeans/ConfigurationManagerMBean.html?skipReload=true#undoUnactivatedChanges) - now the ANT job can start a new edit session.
    The following example shows the use of the ConfigurationManager (in Java with JMX)
                            Object[] unactivatedChanges = (Object[]) editConnection.getAttribute(configManager, "UnactivatedChanges");
                            if (unactivatedChanges.length > 0) {
                                System.out.println("ACTIVATING CHANGES");
                                editConnection.invoke(configManager, "activate",
                                        new Object[] { new Long(120000) }, new String[] { "java.lang.Long" });
                            } else {
                                System.out.println("CANCEL EDIT SESSION");
                                editConnection.invoke(configManager, "cancelEdit", null, null);
    More information can be found on using the EditService and ConfigurationManager can be found here: Middleware Snippets: Automatic Scaling an Application Using WebLogic (and the references therein).
