40Gb i-pod Troubles

I have had my 40Gb 4G i-pod for 11 months and have had nothing but trouble running it with my Toshiba satellite A 30-921 laptop. I am now in my third i-pod which i haven't used yet but i've been reading the forums and have decided to buy a Adaptec 1430 fire wire adaptor! Has anyone experienced problem with this ?
Also if this works i am considering buying an external hard drive to store the music from i-tunes to save space on my laptop hard drive. Will this cause any problems? and does any one have any recomendations on the best external hard drive for the job?

Hey you are not alone!, I have that model and just send it to service for the second time. So its the model or the ipods are not a good product.

HELP-40GB i-pod with scrolling click wheel

ok first of all, i got this new computer. I dowloaded itunes onto it. I want to plug in my i-pod into my new comp but im afraid that all my songs will be deleted. I have all my songs on my other computer, but the other computer isnt working. I also need to plug it into the new comp because a little folder with the ! comes up every once and a while. Also, my i-pod begins to play a song then it stops and it goes to the next song, this is related with the menu icon and the !. Now all of a sudden i press the MENU button and the apple logo pops up then it just turns back off. WHAT DO I DO? i want to keep all my songs, but at the same time im afraid that if i plug it into the new comp all my songs will disappear. Also why is my i-pod just shutting off when i turn it on?

The first thing that anyone is going to suggest to you in respect of the folder and ! error is to reset your iPod and/or restore it. Restoring the iPod will erase anything that's stored on it and return it to factory settings. You may not have any choice but to do this.

HELP! Random errors creating SAP documents via Add-On.

We have a very odd situation. Our add-on has been running for 4 years. During this time, we've made several enhancements. In the last couple of weeks, users are getting random errors during the code that posts SAP documents. The error doesn't occur creating the same documents everytime but the error message is always the same. I cannot get the add-on to crash in the development environment. Furthermore, once a crash occurs, the users can immediately try again and the document will then be created successfully so it's baffling. We thought we'd tracked it down to the fact that when restarting a users Windows session, we were retaining the user profile files that SAP creates to store the SQL Server settings. We found that the problem went away once we started deleting these files upon logout, but, the problem just got less frequent, it didn't completely go away. Here is the error information:

I should say we've also uninstalled and reinstalled the DI API but that didn't help either. We are running SAP 2007A SP01 P05 with users logging into Windows Server 2003 via Citrix. Also note, this error is only occuring with documents being created through the add-on, no crashes occur creating documents direclty through SAP front end.

I have the exatly the same situation at Customer, only in 2007A version.
The Addon has been developed for 6.5 and was running perfect in last 4 years. After upgrade, the users got the random messages. and the user try it again can sucessfully post the documents. Only at this company.
There is no citrix, and virtual server, onyl W2003 (32bit:) behind a firewall. (MS SQL 2005 SP2)
In my sample, and your error message is the common: YOu got the message when you are using User Defined Field in marketing documents.
I have found a note about change "coding" of update of User Defined Fields, it was not helped.

Instead of the above syntax, you should use the following:
SAPbobsCOM.ProductionOrders_Lines f1 = oPOrders.Lines
SAPbobsCOM.Field f = f1.UserFields.Fields.Item("U_test")
Using the suggested syntax lets you perform the operation correctly. The issue does not happen with a regular connection.

In Small DB-s i was unbale to reproduce this issue, but in that specific customer (>40GB) i always trouble with this.
My experience,
- that i have created some custom indexes over marketing documents, and the error message was not appears in frequently.
- changed 32 SQL Server Memory Allocation to EWA, the error message was not appears in frequently.
I think this is an SQL server issue.
I am intrested in the solution, SAP Support Center was unable to find any solution for this issue.

Deleted Playlists

My 40gb i-pod is close to full. This week, while downloading music, I received an message advising that there was not enought room to fit the songs, and giving me the option of disabling the podcast feature, which I assumed would free up some disc space. After the downnload, I found that all of my many playlists were gone from the ipod, replaced by a single entry called "Keith's I-Pod selections", which appears to contain all of my songs, but not in the playlists.
I deleted some music from my i-tunes library, and ran the download a second time, but I still can't get the paylists back. They are still in the i-tunes library.
How do I fix this and get my paylists back onto my i-pod?

What's the origin of this external drive? It sounds very much like it's a Windows-formatted (NTFS) drive which Macs can't write to. If you can, copy the files off the drive, reformat it as Mac format (using Disk Utility) and copy the files back. If you need to continue writing to it from a Windows PC, you should format it ExFAT in Disk Utility.

My I pod is a second generation nano. So how do I get it to show up on my laptop?. Also I only have two computer's but it's authorized with 4, two were old computer's, how do I take them off the list without deauthorizing all 4 computer's,? Or do I have to deauthorize all 4 and then authorize the two I have now? my desk top pc is operating on vista, and my laptop is operating on 7. Does that make a difference? HELP! thank you.

I was not complete clear.
Since you never changed the settings in the advanced section of iTunes preferecnes, you have to chech that your music is really in the location setted in the folders reported in the advanced section. If not you have 2 ways: reset the position of this folders or in the actual disk organisation or in the pointing on the preferences.
If you press the reset button you just give to itunes its default setting as for the position of the music files: probably this will be a good choice if you have never changed any default preference.
But before I would check the folders and see if the songs are really there

Trouble downloading podcasts to my i-pod

In i-Tunes, when I click on the Podcast folder my subscriptions come up. When I click on the arrow under the name a list of available programs for that particular Podcasts comes up, sometimes 20 or 30. I can click on it and it saves. I can listen to it on my computer. However, when I try to add them to the i-Pod I have trouble.
In i-Tunes when I select my i-Pod and go to the Podcast screen I can and have selected "save last 10", "save all new", etc. but it never does.
In other words, I can see that there are many programs for a given podcast available but I can't them to load onto my i-Pod. Any suggestions?

I am also having the same problem. I think it occured when with the last update of ITunes.

I was given and Ipod 40gb and am having trouble syncronizing it with my itunes.

So recently I was given an old white 40gb Ipod, after charging it I hooked it to my computer and tried to sync it with my Itunes. So it sync's and ask me if I want some 'Colbert Report...something, something', I don't remember the tittle of it, and I say no. Then it say's "Updating Teresa's Ipod" and freezes. I can use my pc but I cant do anything to my Itunes. I tried restarting it and redoing the whole process but nothing happens. HELP!!!! (TnT)

Have you synced any content to it and/or backed it up? If so, put your iPhone in recovery mode. (http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=367) Then you can re sync your content or restore from backup.

Trouble with mic input through POD X3 in Garage Band

We're trying to record through our POD X3 in Garage Band, but when we use it for a mic, the software won't let us control the recording level - the mic registers, but it's too low. When we use a Bass Pod, Garage Band lets us control the recording level. It's OK using the Bass Pod for now but we'd like to move on to the X3 for pretty obvious reasons. What's the deal and what solutions are available for us?

40GB 3rd generation i pod classic wont be read on my computer

i plug my ipod into my computer just as i always have in the past but now when i plug it in the computer beeps like somethings plugged in but nothing ever pops up and i go to device manader and click on it and it says that the device can not start. i have already done everything that the website has told me to and it still wont work anyone else have any suggestions?

Good detective work. This is why, for quite some time now, I DON'T have iTunes check (or install) updates. However, that only works if you don't have the NEW Nano (and I prefer the 3rg gen version, so that's why I haven't had to upgrade).
