40gb Zen Touch not docking. PLEASE HEL

I recently got a new 40gb Zen touch. When I plug it in via USB the computer recognizes it and it is listed in the device manager? but Creative Media Source won't show that its docked, therefore I can't transfer any music on it via media source. I've tried every thing includng changing the usb preferences etc but still nothing. Please can someone help. I'd be extremely grateful!?p.s I have windows media player 0. Thanks.

There is a huge thread on this issue on this forum already. I think some of it is referenced in the "sticky" section at the top of this forum.
Bottom line is try to install all the new stuff; driver, Mediasource, Mediasource Plugin for Playsforsure, etc..

  • Zen Touch - not seen, can't load hardware, e

    Hi,
I just got the 40GB Zen Touch this afternoon. I loaded the software from the CD, rebooted, then went to Nomad Explorer, all ready to start moving music. Not only did Explorer not see it, when I tried to install updated files from the Creative site, they couldn't see it, either....and the hardware wizard can't find a driver on the CD, PC or Internet.
Is there a site that has step-by-step instructions for Portable MP3 player dummies? I'm new at putting tunes on these, so I'm not sure what program to use in order to accomplish that.
I also have MusicMatch, but it won't even show an opportunity to save to the "portable device".
I did unplug the other USB devices, but that didn't help.
Please... I just want to put some tunes on it and go on about my merry way.... I need some help from someone who knows about this.
    Thanks in advance,
    ocayd

    Allrighty. Thus far, I've:
<SPAN>. Reset the player and run a <FONT face=Arial color=#800080 size=><SPAN>disk cleanup.<SPAN>3. Try the player on ALL your USB ports and make sure you aren't using a hub.- don't have a hub- it WAS making the "new USB device added/removed" sound in a .0 port, then I tried it in a 2.0 port, and it made the same sound(s). Then, I put it back in the .0 port - and no noise. I put it back in the 2.0 port, and it mad the noise. (However, normally, it makes a 2-note sound when I add/remove. Now, it makes 2 notes ONLY when I remove, and one note when I add.)- In DEVICE MGR, it's got the yellow ? by it
<SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>5. In Device Manager with the Zen connected delete it from the device listing. Physically disconnect the Zen from the USB cable, reset it, then reconnect to the PC to see if it is detected properly.
<SPAN><SPAN>7. Try a replacement USB cable (ideal if you can borrow one from somewhere, or if you have another USB device that uses the same cable).
<SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>9. Make sure the player isn't locked.
    <SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>
<SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>I'm thinking that if the player isn't seen, I can't install updated anything on it, correct?
    <SPAN><SPAN><SPAN>Still trying....

  • Is there a 40GB Zen Touch in the maki

And if so, will it be out before Christmas? I'd rather have a 40GB one over a 20 GB. I also don't want to tell my parents to get me the 20GB, then find out a few weeks or couple months later that the 40GB Zen Touch is out.Message Edited by h0rse on 2-03-2004 03:3 AM

h0rse, as SSR has said, creative does not give out info on their up and coming players. But we know it will come out. <SPAN>It is listed on the Creative store as being out of stock. Creative will do this to spur buyers before they release it. <SPAN>So its not a question of if, but a question of when.Message Edited by Torstein on 2-03-2004 08:08 AM

  • Nomad explorer and creative mediasource not detecting zen touch player. PLEASE HE

Hi, I got a new pc and I was going to install my Zen Touch mp3 player on my new pc but I could'nt find the installation cd so I followed the instructions on here and downloaded all the necessary? software, drivers, plug ins, and followed all the instructions. Once everything was downloaded and installed I plugged my mp3 player into my pc and the noise it makes came up and mtp media player pop up appeared. Windows media player accepts that my zen touch is plugged in but creative media source and nomad explorer is not detecting it's?My os is windows xp, I am using windows media player 9 as I was having trouble with windows media player . Could someone please help me? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you've just upgraded to XP, you now have to upgrade your Zen as well as your Mediasource. First you've got to upgrade your Zen Touch firmware to version 2.0.05 or above. Look around on the Creative Support site and you'll find the download without too much trouble. Be warned that the firmware upgrade is permanent, and it will wipe out your Zen hard dri've contents, so say goodbye to all your music unless you want to back it all up to your PC first.
Then you've got to upgrade your Mediasource to v 3.30.2 or higher. Again, you can find the upgrade download on the Creative site. Then you've got to install Zen Touch Media Explorer v .30.04 or higher. Same thing -- easy to locate on the Creative site. Then you should be good to go!?Best,?John

  • Zen Touch - not detected by Win

    Hello!
I have a zen touch 40GB with the new firmware (the 2.xx). There is a problem with it. The player was working just fine for al ong time on this firmware, but couple of days ago WinXP stopped to recognize the device. What I mean is that it sees the player as an MTP device (ther is that small player icon in tray) but it doesnt show the player in explorer. This way I cannot access the players dri've, and do anythin with it. I've tried switching the usb ports, connecting it to my friends comp, cleaning up in recovery mode, but nothing works. Please help.

    nygerzzz,
Check the device manager as SSR mention and see if it's detected properly. If there's nothing wrong with the detection at device manager then probably something went wrong with the permission setting in registry. You may want to check this Knowledgebase article SID0053 out and see if it hel
    ps.

  • Zen touch speakers / dock

I was just wondering what different speakers or docks there are that are compatible with the Zen Touch? The best one available appears to be the Cambridge Soundworks playdock, but this is only available to US customers.
What docks or speakers are available in the UK for the Zen Touch?

Okay, if you want one that doesn't use battery but a power cable, then you would still need to connect to a socket, so not as portable as the Travelsound is.
The speakers listed under 2.0 are all fairly small (especially ones like the SBS Vivid 60), as they are just 2 speakers and a power adapter (no subwoofer).

  • Zen Touch not being recognized by Windows

Yesterday, I recieved a Zen Touch (20GB) as an early Christmas present. I excitedly opened it, eager to put my songs on it. After installing what was on the CD, I plugged in the player only to be greated by a Windows error message.
    The initial error: http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/6099/errorxu.jpg
I decide to click it to see what the problem is, then I'm greeted by the following
    Second: http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/9995/error29qj.jpg
    Please help me.

Try downloading and installing the latest drivers, Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03.
Also try running a disk cleanup from rescue mode.

  • Zen Touch not detected by Windows Explorer though recognised by Windows Media Pla

I wonder if anyone else has had a similar problem to this:
I am running Windows ME and my son has just received the player for his birthday.</LI>
Unfortunately the CD that came with the player caused this computer (and another) to lock-up so faulty CD assumed.</LI>
    Loaded drivers from internet.</LI>
Camera and memory sticks all recognised by Windows Explorer but NOT the Zen Touch.</LI>
Now the surprise the Zen Touch IS recognised by Windows Media Player and my son can transfer files using that - but it is a VERY slow way of loading files and we would much prefer to use Windows Explorer.</LI>
Anyone any suggestions as to how to make Windows Explorer detect the Zen Touch?

The Touch is only recognised through Windows Explorer by virtue of installing Nomad Explorer.
Certainly make sure you have the latest version of this from the downloads page, you mentioned you have the latest drivers already.

  • New Zen Touch not being detected by Windows

I just bought a 20 gig Zen Touch off ebay, and tried to get it to run.
The firmware on the Zen tells me it's version 2..0, which is the PlaysForSure version. So, I downloaded the driver specific to PlaysForSure, and tried to run it. It looked like it installed just fine, but when I plug in the player, it just recognizes it (at the start) as Creative Zen Touch, and opens up the Found New Hardware wizard. So, I don't think it recognizes my Zen.
This, of course, leads to all the programs not being able to recognize my Zen, either, and to me not being able to reload the firmware (just in case), or anything of the sort. Not really sure how to proceed, and I've been scanning the help files, which have been no help. The knowledge database seems to suggest that Windows XP will just load the proper drivers, which, of course, it doesn't.
How do I proceed? I thought this would be the answer, but it presumes that Windows will detect the device as an MTP, and somehow just find the right driver, which it doesn't.
I'm at a bit of a loss as to where I go from here. The drivers aren't installing, and the closest I can get is my Device Manager showing the Creative Zen with a big yellow question mark next to it, because the drivers aren't installed properly.
    Help?

Try downloading and installing the latest drivers, Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03.
Also try running a disk cleanup from rescue mode.

  • Having connection problems with Zen Touch...Please h

I haven't used my Touch in a while but I went to install everything last night on my XP machine and when I load MediaSource it says there is no player attached. Windows recognizes the player is there and I can see all the songs in Explorer and I even did the firmware upgrade and that worked. I also tried re-installing MediaSource and it knows the player is there during installation (cuz otherwise it would give an error) but once it is installed, the program can't find it.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

kingvudu wrote:Thanks for the help. I'm trying to use MediaSource Organizer, as that seems to be the best way to recover the data without installing a new program/driver to my PC (as I said, my computer is really close to dying and I'm afraid if I have to restart it won't turn back on).Unfortunately, I can't seem to figure out how to get MediaSource to show data files. All I can see are media files. I figured out how to show all files on My Computer menu but not for the Zen Touch menu. How do I see the data files?
MediaSource can't show data files. I believe only PlayCenter, Nomad Explorer and Notmad can do this (and also Creative File Manager, which is essentially a non-music version of Nomad Explorer).

try a download or try media player 0
This can't download data files, only audio (if it can even do that, from the player to the PC).

Check your regional Creative Online Store for the remote and price.

  • Creative Zen Touch USB Docking Probl

    Hi and thanks for looking:
I was trying to dock my Creative Zen Touch a few minutes ago, the way I usually do:
. I have Creative MediaSOurce open
    2. I plug the USB cable into the Zen
    3. It's docked.
But that didn't work. The "DOCKED" screen came up on my Zen for about 2-3 seconds, then went away and went back to Now Playing. Now, this sometimes happens, but if I reset the MediaSource software and plug it in again, it is usually all set, but no. I've tried over 20 times, with different USB cables too, but I just can't get anything to dock. I'm going to try on another computer and if I can get it to work, I'm planning on backing up everything I have on it. I don't want to reset my 3000 songs that are on my Zen, so if anyone has any solution to this problem, I could really use some help. Thanks!!

well with my micro, logging off other users and removing other background programs, real player etc.. sometimes seemed to help. try restarting your system.
I believe that recently rolling back from WMP affects the vision

  • Zen Micro not dock

When I plug my Micro into my PC, it is detected by the PC, but the screen is not showing as docked & any music I try to transfer comes up as failed. Anybody got any clues as to what I should do?

    alison34 wrote:
Erm...... I've looked in "system" on the player, & it says version .0.03. Is this the firmware?
    Yes.
The PC recognises its attached, & it shows in device manager. The player just doesnt dock, so I cant transfer songs.
Does it show in Device Manager without error, and with a driver version?
What software and version are you using?
