40S51U Picture Freezes and TV Restarts

When I am watching TV, sometimes the picture freezes and the audio will continue for about 5 seconds. The TV will then shut itself off and try to restart. The LED flickers a faint red, then blinks green 3 times. The TV turns itself back on and is normal again. This happens when I watch Netflix. I only use Netfllix and the HDMI but it only seems to freeze when I watch Netflix. It doesn't happen everytime, but on days that it does, it seems like the problem reoccurs every 5-10 minutes if I try to continue watching.

If you can't solve your issue and no one in the community can help, contact support to speak with a tech support agent at (800) 631-3811.

  • Imac freezing and then restarting

    Hi,
My Imac keeps freezing and then restarting, it will go to a grey screen saying there's a problem then will restart. This has happened around 3 or 4 times in the last few days, everytime it happened I was using Itunes, when it would freeze, the music would jam and then the computer would restart.
Any idea's how to fix this?
Is it a fan/ overheating problem?

    Bula from Fiji Islands,
My C7-00 has similar problems (although not that frequently) and I have backed up and done resets as you've stated but the problem seems rather stubborn and persistant. Is there any other option for a fix?
    You seem helpful.

  • My MacBook Pro is freezing and then restarts.  Kernal Log showing I/O errors

My MacBook Pro is freezing up and then restarts.  It started happening about 2 weeks ago.  After several attempts to resolve it, I did a clean install of snow leopard.  And then did a SW Update.  I have no thrid party devices, ram, or HD.  My machine is 2 GHz Intel Core Duo.  2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
My Kernel log is showing a bunch of I/O errors.   I think I have a sick baby.  Any thoughts

William, Thank you.  I did do the reformat with the DVD SL Disk Utility with the write zeros once option.
I think the way to go is buy a new HD.  They are cheap enough.  In researching this, I found some discussions that there are some possible issues with using the newer SATA 3.0 GBs drive on my old intel core due macbook pro.
    Here are 2 threads - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2673222?threadID=2673222&tstart=180 and http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/apple-notebooks/206962-will-hard-drive-fit-my-m acbook.html
Do you have an opinion on that?
    I found this one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Western+Digital+-+Scorpio+Blue+250GB+Internal+Serial +ATA+Hard+Drive+for+Laptops/9024147.p?id=1218012522486&skuId=9024147&st=WDBABB25 00ANC-NRSN&cp=1&lp=1
which looks like it is compatible.
Am I better off buying a genuine apple replacement or an OEM?
    Thanks

  • G4 AGP upgraded and now freezing and needs restart???? HELP

hey guys, so i recently bought a powermac g4 agp "sawtooth" and upgraded it. i put in a 128gig seagate hdd, a 1ghz sonnet encore gt processor, 1 gig ram (2x128 and 2x256), and then filled the pci slots with a radeon 9200 128mb graphics card, a 4 port usb 2.0 card, and a wireless pci card because the g4 could only take the old airport and i wanted 54mbps, finally a pioneer dvd burner to replace the old dvd ram cd rom drive... sooo all these things worked as they were supposed to when i added them, but now with them all in the computer has been freezing and telling me i need to reset it with the little error window, i thought it was leopard so i downgraded back to tiger and same restart problem is occuring.. wondering if its the power supply cannot support all the peripherals? no idea though.. any suggestions???
also a problem ive had ever since i got the machine up and running when i replaced the motherboard... not every time the computer goes to sleep but sometimes it wont wake up from sleep... it sounds like the computer is waking up but there is no image sent to the monitor... any idea whats goin on here??

First try a PMU reset. See Mac PRAM, NVRAM, CUDA/PMU & Battery Tutorial
Is the error window you are getting in multiple languages? If so, you are getting a kernal panic. KPs are generally caused by hardware, frequently RAM & sometimes by USB devices. To start troubleshooting remove the wireless card & USB card & disconnect all external devices except your mouse, kbd & monitor. Post back with the results. Basically, you have made too many changes at one time & it's dificult to know the cause.
May be a solution on one of these links.

  • Exposure change after Photoshop freeze and MBP restart

Strange thing and I need help. Last night I was editing pictures with PSCS and viewing in iphoto when PS quit opening (I click on the icon but the program would not open, just bounce in the dock for a second). I restarted my MBP and all of my photos are now under exposed (seriously darker) this is across all librarys and applications, ie.. aperture, iphoto, preview and even iview mediapro.
Does anyone have any ideas? I even took some shots today and they are downloaded very dark.

If anyone wants to know. The photoshop crash cause a profile change and the only way to fix it was to create a new user and dump the old one. Alls well now.

  • PowerBook G4 keeps freezing and not restarting sometimes for hours

I just bought a used G4 and wiped the hard drive clean and reinstalled OS X10.4. It suddenly started freezing on me(seems to have been when music started either in iTunes or on a webpage) and so I force quit and when I went to restart it didn't do anything. The caplocks button responded so I knew that there was power. But no fan, no hard drive sound, nothing. When I went to a "genius" to figure out what was up, I pressed the on button and it started. Then when I got home it shut down twice and one other time a bunch of vertical lines covered the screen and it beeped.
I have done everything from removing the battery(which is full and charges fine)to reinstalling the OS, to verifying the disk and repairing the disk. It hasn't done it since yesterday but it makes me nervous. The previous owner bought a new one because the same thing happened to him and when he brought it to Mac911 they said there was nothing wrong with it.
Does anyone know of anything I can do to fix this? Or if I'm just setting myself up for disaster by keeping this system?(I can still return it but I really need it.)
Thank you in advance for any help that you may offer.

Update: Since I had noticed that the iBook booted up more or less normally when cold, I got to the genius bar 40 minutes early and let my computer get good and warm so it would slow down and freeze, which it did. I didn't get a definitive answer from the genius because my computer got so bogged down that he couldn't do much of anything with it. He said to do an erase and install, and if it was still acting the same, it was likely to be a hardware problem and I would need to send it off to Apple for diagnosis and repair.
When I got home, I discovered that I had a disc with Tech Tool Pro which came in my original Applecare package. I decided to run it, and everything passed except that the Surface Scan reported "Failed: Error=-4". I'm not sure just what that means.
Anyway, it might be that your computer was cold when the geniuses looked at it and that's why they didn't find anything wrong.
I actually stuck my computer in the fridge for 20 minutes and then set it on an aluminum plate to help cool it. So far it's been working for about an hour and a half instead of the usual 20 minutes or so, but it's still slow and I get the spinning beach ball more and more. I plan to try an erase and install tomorrow, but I actually don't expect that to fix it since it seems to be temperature related.
If I find out anything more, I'll post back.

  • Macbook freezing and not restarting

Lately my macbook has been freezing when I move my mouse to the dock, and applications won't launch, just bounce. Also, when I restart, it won't restart, icons disappear but it won't go any further. I repaired permissions. Any idea what may be going on here?
processor 2 GHz intel core 2 duo
    RAM 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

The restart issue indicates that some application/process is getting stuck while you're shutting down.
In addition to trying Safe Mode, create a new user account, log out of the old account and into the new one. See if things work any better in the new account.
Were you having issues before you upgraded the hard drive? Was the new drive trouble-free for any period of time?

  • Itunes constant freezing and cannot restart

Hey, I've been having a lot of issues with my itunes for the past week or so. Every few hours or so (sometimes within like 1) my itunes will freeze completely. Once it freezes I'll close it or end the process in Task Manager and it generally shuts down. Now if the constant freezing wasn't enough of an annoyance, the itunes process also hangs in Task Manager after I've shut the program down. I have tried to end the process with taskkill, but it never works. While the process hangs it continues to consume computer memory and I cannot use itunes anymore. It just won't open anymore. The only way around this is to restart the entire computer. (Which is a huge pain!) I'd rather not have to restart my computer every time I want to listen to some music.
    Some things I've tried -
Uninstalling itunes and other apple services completely; normally and by using revo uninstaller on other occassions. Then doing a fresh install.
    Installing older version of itunes.
Using CCleaner to search for errors.
Checking to see if there are any firewall conflicts.
Doing a complete virus scan with Malwarebytes and Avast.
Does anyone have any idea as to why this is happening, and/or know any fixes? If so, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Here's my computer specs -
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
    System Manufacturer: Acer
    System Model: Predator G5900
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU    650  @ 3.20 GHz (4 CPUs), ~ 3.2 GHz
    Memory: 4096MB RAM
Page File: 2366MB used, 5677MB available
    DirectX Version: DirectX 11
    Itunes 10.7.0.21
    Quicktime 7.73.80.64

Figured it out (I think). Seems to be an iTunes problem. I found some articles on this site about bugs in Version 7 so I deleted iTunes from my PC, reinstalled Version 6, drained down my iPod, hooked it back up, restored the OS from Version 6 and now, 3 days later, all seems to be working.
If you have a look over some of the discussions on this site you'll see that this is somewhat of a common occurrence, but Apple don't seem to be admitting it.

  • Why my new iphone6 64gb hanging and freezing, and its restarting

    Hi
My new iPhone 6 were totally stuck and freezing while i using photos or apps. i didn't download more apps and my storage is still remaining 44 GB. When it gets hang it automatically restarted also it take time.
    Please help me,

TTry the simple first step. Reset your iPhone. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

  • Apps freeze and wont restart w/o a hard reboot

    Model Name: iMac
    Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 4 GB
    Here is the problem:
I close an app like Dreamweaver or Excel
The app stays in the dock as if it is still running (with the light on)
Doesn't show in the activity monitor but show up in ps aux with a pid
I have run sudo kill -9 <PID> and nothing happens
I have logged on and back in to my account and nothing happens
And the app wont start back up.
The only way to fix it is to reboot.
And sometime i have to power cycle because it wont respond to the restart command.
Anyone else having this issue and more important is there a fix?
    Jason

I guess Leopard's "full conformance with Unix" makes file permissions so much more important that previous versions of MacOSX. It's a housekeeping and security requirement that has existed on servers for years.
Software developers, including Microsoft, are still getting used to having to consider this during installation and upgrades. Existing programs that ran well under Tiger may still work on Leopard when the permissions are repaired, but a lot of people that upgrade from Tiger have probably brought files into Leopard that were not repaired before the upgrade and blame the upgrade itself.
Repairing Permissions takes a lot longer to do than it does with Tiger. Some say it's because Disk Utility is working harder to do more repairs.
Still, it's not the only reason there are problems, it's just the first thing I check... and it's Free and never seems to cause any new problems to "appear".

  • Macbook Pro retina freezes and then restarts

I have a 15 inch Macbook Pro Retina (Mid 2012) and it was working fine till I installed Yosemite. I would like to know is there any way to solve this problem? It is hard to work on computer which restarts about 2 times a day.
    Processor 2.3Ghz Intel Core i7
    Memory 8GB
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 1GB

    Hi EditorBob,
That doesn't sound good. Have you run the Hardware Test (Using instructions described here - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303605 ) ?
The problem may be related to bad RAM, but if the hardware test doesn't find anything, you should probably take it into an Apple service center or store.

  • IPhone 3GS camera freezes and/or restarts iOS 5

I have updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS5 and now it will not take photos. When I try to do so the screen goes black with the grey pinwheel and the phone goes back to the desktop screen. It has rendered my camera useless.

What Troubleshooting Steps have you tried...?
    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart..  Reset..  Restore from Backup..  Restore as New...
Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
If that does not help... See Here:

  • Picture freezes and starts constantly

when watching a show it runs normal for a few mins then stops and starts then stops and starts.. no matter what channel i am watching . it has been going on for a long time and i have been dealing with it because i have not had the time to wait on the phone for someone to answer. I tried checking all connections all the wires are secure but it is still doing it . and it is getting annoying . Do I need a new box? please contact me and let me know.. I also had the automated system do a reset , still doing it.
    thank you

It means that something is wrong with the signal at that STB. Either there is a loose connection or bad coax or splitter somewhere. Check all the connections and make sure they are tight. If that doesn't fix the issue you will probably need a service call.
