Τ42 ethernet adapter cannot start
Hello , i recently purchased a used T42 2373VMV with preinstalled windows
After format and reinstall windows xp pro SP2, i can't have the ethernet adapter to work.
I installed the ethernet driver downloaded from lenovo page and device manager shows the adapter as INTEL (R) PRO/1000 MT mobile Connection but device cannot start (error 10)
It has a yellow ! sign on it
I tried to disable/enable device and deinstall/reinstall driver with no result. Also disable/enable in BIOS
Is it wrong driver i suppose? All other devices working fine with dowloaded drivers including wireless adapter (I have no cd )
is there a way i can find which adapter model is it inside? MAC adress begins with 00-11-25
help!
any help?

When I open my Device Manager there is an /!\ next to NVIDIA nforce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet.

It gives me the option to "Search for solutions" which has proven unsuccessful.
Also, I have the latest driver installed.

Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter cannot start (code 10)
Hi guys,
I have a yellow *!* mark on my Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter, and when I attempt to install it manually, it says it is already installed, but the driver cannot start (CODE 10). I'm also having an IP problems with my computer [Windows has detected
an IP address conflict], but I lack the knowledge and experience to know if this two problems are connected.
I've tried 2 device-updating programs (DriverTuner by LionSea, Driver Booster by IObit), yet neither of them ware able to help me .
If ANYONE out there have a solution for me, please submit it!
[Windows 7, HP]Hi Ziv_Ger,
Regarding IP conflicts, please first use the Network troubleshooter,
For more information, please refer to the following article.

Welcome to the forum!
The problem here is most likely that there is no ethernet card installed, although there is a port in the back, since that's the way machine had left the factory:
Product: ThinkPad T22 2647-M2U [change]
Operating system: All [change]
Original description: PIII 900MHz (256KB), 128MB RAM, 20.0GB HDD, 14.1 XGA(1024x768) TFT LCD, 8x-2.3x DVD, Modem, TV out, Li-Ion battery, Win98SE
But don't worry, you can get a combo modem/LAN card for a few bucks nowadays.
Hope this helps.

I get the following error message when I connect a usb ethernet adapter to my new MacBook Pro: Unsupported - You cannot use an Apple USB Modem with this computer. I live where we only have dial-up and the Apple Store said this is what I need. In addition, when I connect the phone to the connecter it falls out, it will not click in.
Why are you using a usb ethernet adaptor? Just plug the modem into the usb port.

Before starting AHT, be sure to disconnect all external devices except the keyboard, mouse, display, and Ethernet adapter. Also disconnect any external optical drives. What is included in these external devices?
I have tried repeatedly to use the Apple Hardware test on my iMac desktop 10.7.3 early 2009 4 GB with no luck. What am I doing wrong? I have everything I can think of unplugged. Do I need to disconnect BlueTooth in Preferences?

Satellite Pro A10: New Atheros/Askey WLan card but 'This device cannot start' code 10
Hi there,
I have a Satellite Pro A10 and have purchased an internal mini pci wireless adapter. The following information is displayed on my card:
Askey WLL3070-D4(MOW)
Atheros AR5BRB-43
I installed the card, hooked up the ariel's and turned the laptop on...the switch at the front now lights up and windows xp finds the new ethernet adaptor. My problem is this...
No matter what driver i install (and ive tried every Askey/Atheros etc driver from the first 20+ pages of yahoo/google) the card installs fine but then in device manager has a yellow ! next to it and says This device cannot start (code 10)
I'm really stumped. I have some more ram coming in a few days at which point i shall be installng Vista which im hoping sorts my problems out but does anyone have any ideas?
I've yet to find a driver which specifically refers to the AR5BRB or the model number WLL3070-D4.
Does anyone have a location for a driver etc?
thank youHi
I use always this page for WLan driver update:
http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/
This is a Toshiba WLan driver portal and there you can find all necessary WLan drivers

R61: Intel 82566MC Gigabit Network Device Cannot Start (Code 10)
Hi
I purchased a Western Digital 7200 rpm 320 GB hard drive (the WD3200BJKT) a few days ago to be installed in my ThinkPad R61 (model 773215A). After making a fresh install of Windows XP SP3 and all the drivers, everything seemed to work fine except for my ethernet device, which is an Intel 82566MC Gigabit Network Connection. I obtained the following error code: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". The ethernet device only functioned once, which was right after I installed its driver after the fresh install of Windows XP. However as soon as I rebooted, I received the above mentioned error code. By the way, the device was working fine before I changed my hard drive.
I have tried everything described in troubleshooting guides available online, including disabling and enabling the ethernet device, uninstalling and reinstalling the ethernet device and updating the drivers, but to no avail. The only way I could make it function again is by switching off my notebook, unplugging and replugging the power adapter and finally switching the notebook on again. If I were to do a restart, or switch my notebook off and on without unplugging the power adapter, the ethernet device would not function.
I have a feeling that it might be the bios. I am currently using the latest bios (version 2.26), and I noticed that this bios was 'supposed' to fix "The "New Hardware Found" message for Intel Gigabit Ethernet may appear." Looks like some problems with the Intel Gigabit Ethernet still exist. However I have tried flashing several older versions of the bios, but the problem still persists. Appreciate any help/suggestions I could get. Thanks.

Message Edited by Agotthelf on 04-04-2009 06:27 PMHello
I bought my R61 beginning of 2008, and since then I had this problem - only with the LAN device, NOT with WLAN - 3 times. It did never have something to do with reinstalling Windows or installing a new device like a HD, it just happend, usually after configuering new network properties (with the tool Access Connections).
The first time when I experienced this, I tried to reinstall the NIC driver, but that didn't help.
Every time, after 2 or 3 days, the problem simply disapeard.
I have on the same laptop, on a second HD partition, a Debian Linux installed. This time, my NIC started its "time-out" after configuering new network properties on Linux, and it does not work anymore on neither Linux nor Windows (2 days so far).
It's really annoying, and because it seems the OS has no influence, I think it is Lenovo's job to fix this problem.
I belive it's - like mhafiz says - a BIOS problem, or some hardware issue, so please: Lenovo, it's your turn!
I always bought Thinkpad Laptops until now, and I think they are in quality high above any other brand, and I really hope this will continue.
Chris
PS: I hope your (and also mine, like it did before) NICs will just resume operating after a while... -
Thinkpad T440s Ethernet Adapter Automatically Disabled
I have a Thinkpad T440s 20AQ with a Intel I218-LM ethernet adapter. The OS is Windows 8.1 x64
Since approx. half year ago, the ethernet adapter started to disable itself automatically every 1-4 weeks. The occurance of this problem has no pattern and is unexpectable.
When it happens, I cannot reenable it under Network Connection window. Rebooting the system has ~50% chance to solve this problem. The reliable way to solve this problem is disable and reenable the adapter under Device Manager.Which driver version?

Intel 82579V network controller "This device cannot start" (code 10) error"
I've just finished installing a Z77A-GD55 motherboard and had a problem where the Intel 82579V network controller wouldn't start after a cold boot. Device manager would show “This device cannot start" (code 10) error”.
After a reboot it would work every time. During the time it didn't work the adapter was incorrectly shown in device manager as 82579LM. There's an older thread about this issue but the fix described there were of no help with my problem.
After a lot of searching I found Intel has provided a fix for people having this issue after sleep mode so I gave it a try and it seems to work for my issue too, so far anyway.
So if anyone else is having this problem with the same Intel network controller I suggest giving this try.
Go to the Intel Download Center and search for 82579V. Select the first result entitled "NVM Update Utility for Intel® 82579V Gigabit Ethernet PHY Network Connection" and follow the instructions. Good Luck! Thanks for the information.

I've tried enabling/disabling UAC.
I've run the drivers as an admin.
I've formatted a few times just to make sure no driver conflicts.
Also I've tested the card on another PC running XP sp3 works fine.
PCI slot works fine as well tested with an ethernet card.
You've tried about everything.
Did you try to disable any non essential onboard devices (HD Audio, LAN, additional SATA/IDE controller etc)?
What about installing XP on a spare dri've?
