4305G Lost power during upgrade, now what?

Upgrading frimware on the 4305G and someone unpluged power. Now it will not boot, it's a brick. Any chance to bring it back to life?
Thanks,
-Randy

Hi Randy,
The only thing you can try  is to restore the DMP to factory default.
This can be done by keeping  the RESET button on the back of the DMP pressed for at least 10 seconds.  You should hear at least two "beep" in a row when doing so, if you hear  only one it means that the DMP is rebooting but not restoring to  factory default.
It this doesn't help then I'm afraid you have a nice new bookend

Nicolas

  • Lost Power during Hard Drive Erase

I lost power about a half way thru a 35 swipe of my hard drive now I can not install OS.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Your hard disk may be damaged now.
However, try to erase it again. Insert the Mac OS X DVD that came with your computer and press the C key while your Mac is starting. Then, open Utilities menu > Disk Utility, select your hard disk at the top of the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the disk.
If you don't find the hard disk or you can't erase it, take the computer to an Apple Store or reseller to get it replaced. Normally, hard disks are unusable after turning off a computer while you were erasing it

  • Lost power during software update

    Hi everybody,
I lost power to my home while Apple TV 2 was in the middle of a software update. Now, it won't boot up and I'm shown a graphic with the itunes logo and a USB cord, obviously suggesting I should connect to my computer by wire. However, the usb port on the back is tiny, and no wires I have fit it. I don't recall the device coming with this wire, either. Resetting using the standard Menu+down button method has had no effect.
Anybody out there know a way to fix this without having to go out and buy a special wire?
    Thanks!
    Rex

yep you have to connect it to your computer's itunes so that it can download the firmware from apple via usb.
The cable you need is a Micro-USB connector.
If you are near an apple store you could make an appointment, or simply pop in, explain the situation and I am sure they would be more than happy to do it for you. I find the customer service in apple stores in the UK top notch.

  • Powerbook lost power while reformatting, now it refuses to boot

I was reformatting my old powerbook, everything was going well. I was able to install the OSX and I was in the setup part of the reformatting. My batter is dead already so I'm using the power adaptor as the sole source of power. I accidentally unplugged it and now when I turn it on it refuses to go anywhere else. It would go to the blue screen with the Apple logo for a while and then the Apple logo would be replaced by the stop sign (the circle with the slash across it) and its stuck like that. I tried turning it off then restarting it with the install disc, problem persisted. I tried rebooting it while pressing at least one out of every key on my keyboard, still nothing. Anyone experience this before? what could I do?

Hi, thanks, I was able to reinstall it, but the problem still persists . . . l have reformatted it 3 times now. By that I mean i completed the setup (they ask for the name, sets up internet etc.) I then go to the desktop etc. However, after I turn it off then I turn it on again, I get the same problem, I go the screen with the apple, then the apple turns into the stop sign and its stuck like that each of the three times I reformatted it. I did a hardware test and it said that all my hardware passed.

  • MBP Frozen on Startup-Was reinstalling OS, lost power during a storm :(

    Hey everyone,
I have a 2007 Macbook Pro that's giving me some trouble.
    BACKGROUND
    1. The battery on this thing is dead—in fact, it became bloated and no longer fit into the casing. Before this issue, I was using it without a battery and simply plugging it in.
    2. As a result, when the power source was removed (kicked out, etc). the laptop would simply shut down.
    3. As far as I know, it was running the most updated version of software prior to this incident.
    ISSUE
    Here's what happened:
I was updating the computer to iOS 10.5 (Snow Leopard—I bought the OS as soon as it came out, so it's an early version). It was plugged into a wall, and was about 97% finished (I kid you not) and the power went out suddenly.
Since then, it's been stuck on the grey bootup screen. I hear the bootup sound, screen goes to grey, up pops an Apple logo, the loading circle, and then...it stays there. The loading circle just chases its tail. I've tried letting it sit there for at least four hours—no change.
And to make things more interesting, the Snow Leopard CD is stuck in the optical drive.
    FIXES
Here's what I've tried so far:
    Fix attempt 1 (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=151364)
    • Restart your Mac holding down "Command(the Apple key)+S" key to enter 'Single user mode'.
    • Type "fsck -f", and hit return.
    • Once complete type "reboot" and hit return to reboot you Mac back in to OS X as normal.
RESULT: None that I can see. Still sits on startup screen.
    *OTHER INFORMATION*
I have external firewire drives, but don't have the OS installed on them for two reasons.
One, I use them as photography archives and am unsure if I would need to reformat the drive completely in order to install the OS.
Two, the CD is stuck inside the Macbook Pro.
    *MY QUESTIONS*
    1. What are some other fixes I can try? Please post links to pertinent threads or write below. Thanks.
    2. I would like to try booting from an external hard drive. Can somebody tell me how to do this without wiping my external drives?
    3. Is there a way to remove the OS install disk, like holding down a certain key combination or entering in code from Single User Mode?
    Thanks everybody.

First, try booting while holding down the option key. If no luck, see below.

10.6, Snow Leopard. It's from the installation disc
The optical drive was working prior to this, because it was installing the OS just fine. It was just about finished, only 1-3% to go and that's when the power went out.
That's what I was wondering. Ok, normally I wouldn't think an SMC reset would be relevant here, but I wonder if something is different due to no battery.
    Try this:
    Shut down
Disconnect the power adapter from the computer
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds
    Release the power button
    Reconnect the power adapter
Press the power button to turn on the computer and see if it boots
If not, repeat the process, but this time hold down the c key while booting
If not, repeat the process, but this time hold down the option key while booting

  • Lost .MTS folder structure, now what?

I'm pretty new to the Adobe programs, I recently switched from Pinnacle studio to Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. The video camera I am using is a Canon HF M50.  I have really been struggling with my .MTS files, and after trying many different things I finally figured out that when I copy my files from the sd card to the hard drive you are suppose to copy the entire folder structure and not just the .MTS file.  Well, I figured that out a little to late because most of my files are already on my hard drive without any of the folder structure. So I'm looking for advice on what I should do now. What are my options? Should I convert the files to a different format or is there any way to retrieve the structure of the files I am now missing? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

First I had problems with not having audio when importing clips but that is working now. My problem right now is some major lagging issues when scrubbing through the time line and viewing the clips. Premiere would then freeze sometimes and "not respond".  When I would click on a clip and then in the upper left screen under metadata it gives you information about the file...my .mts files would say "uneditable" next to them. Its saying that because I do not have the entire folder structure.
I heard that a program called Clipwrap can help solve this issue but I believe its only for Macs? I'm running a PC..

  • Lost Apps during upgrade

After the upgrade to 3.0, only one app shows up on my iPhone...They are still listed in my itunes library....I did the sync, but that still didn't reinstall them.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do to get these reinstalled on my iPhone?
    Thanks for your help....

Yeah but that should be a last resort and she will lose anything else that has not been synched to the computer.
Before trying a restore go to Store > De-authorize then enter your information.
Then go to Store > Authorize and download a free application.
As long as you can download an application you should be able to then sync.
Make sure you go to the Applications tab on the right and select which applications to sync or select all.
A restore may resolve this but I recommend using that as a last resort.

  • Iphone 32G 3GS crashed during upgrade now wont turn on or restore in itunes

i was performing the latest upgrade last night (4.0 i think) and half way thru i accidentally knocked the USB cable from the laptop and the upgrade did not complete and now the phone will not turn on except to tell me to connect to itunes and when i do its wont retore the phone to the original settings either. i cannot use my phone at all - HELP!!!

I had this same problem before. You have to put your phone in DFU mode to be able to successfully restore your iPhone. I'd recommend not restoring from a backed up profile and just starting a new one when you do get it restored. For instructions on getting your phone in DFU mode, check out the following link: http://limitededitioniphone.com/how-to-put-the-iphone-into-dfu-mode/
I'd recommend one of the "Alternative Methods". The first method is tricky because the timing has to be perfect.
Just a word of advice though, I'd strongly recommend staying on iPhone OS 3.1.3 until Apple releases iOS 4.1. There is an increase of people having performance issues on the 3GS with iOS 4.0. I was one of them, but just downgraded back to 3.1.3 and am not having any of those issues any longer.
    Hope this helps!

  • Lost power during bios flash for 760GM-P23 (FX) please help!!

    hi all,
I was doing some updates to my bios and the power went off for the whole street and now the monitor wont boot is this because of the corrupted bios or something else?

    This one:
    Quote
    For AMI BIOS
Rename the desired AMI BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM and save it on a floppy disk. e.g. Rename A569MS23.ROM to AMIBOOT.ROM
Insert this floppy disk in the floppy drive. Turn On the system and press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update. It will read the AMIBOOT.ROM file and recover the BIOS from the A drive.
When 4 beeps are heard you may remove the floppy disk and restart the computer.
If you don't have floppy you can try place it over USB key instead to see if that will works

  • Freeze during install - Now what?

The first time I tried to install it froze with (it claimed) 12 minutes to go. I was performing an 'archive and install'.
The second time, it worked. Unfortunately, the 'previous systems' folder now had two prior systems and my user account was in the older one - therefore it did not get preserved as an active user. The files are still there, but no user.
I was forced to create a new user at restart and made it with a 'short name' slightly different than the old one.
How do I restore the old user, including the old short name? I know I can create a new user with the old short name, but (on top of any other mistakes I made) I copied the old user folder into the User folder. I am concerned that creating a new user with that short name will make the computer over-write my old user folder.
I have seen others mention the Migration Assistant. Will that work for me?
In case it will help, I am in the process of copying the entire 'previous system' to my iPod (connected via firewire).

Then, it still exists in the Previous System folder. Create the new account using the same username/password combo, delete the one you created with the slightly different name, copy the old user folder from Previous System, and merge it with the new one.

  • I did a sync and lost my apps. Now what? Reload oneby one?

I downloaded a bunch of photos from my MacBook tp my iPad and now I see the apps are gone from my iPad. Netflix is gone,Kindle's gone, iBooks . . Gone, etc. do I have to reload each one at a time?

    Just sync again.
Connect your iPad to your computer and launch iTunes (if it doesn't start on its own). If your iPad auto syncs let it finish. When it is finished, select the iPad on the left side of iTunes under the Devices heading. Click on the apps tab in the iTunes window on the right. Click on the Sync Apps heading. Click on each app in the apps list that you want to put on your iPad. Go through all of the other tabs in iTunes - Music, Movies, Photos and so on - make sure that all of the content that you want to sync has been selected to sync - along with the Sync Music, Sync Movies, etc. headings within all of the tabs. Click on Apply (or sync) in the lower right corner of the iTunes window.

  • Dead motherboard and power supply.. now what?

I am pretty upset that my iMac had a meltdown. It worked wonderfully and perfectly until last week. The Apple store told me that the motherboard fried and so did the power supply. They told me it wasn't worth it to replace the parts since it would cost over 1200 dollars to replace. I seriously do not have money for a new computer and I do not have the credit rating that could help me finance a new one.
I've had the computer since 2004, you could say that over 4 years of perfect performance could be good, but the computer was a gift from my dad who has recently passed, and I don't think it's going to be easy for me to give it up. If I were to buy the parts myself and do the install, would be it be worth it? My questions are ... where can I buy the motherboard and new power supply? Can I buy directly from Apple and install myself? Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to Discussions - sorry about your loss, there certainly are places that sell replacement parts for your Rev A - look at [welovemacs.com] to get an idea of prices. Buying from Apple usually means higher prices, but you can check with them as well, part of the $1200 was surely labor costs.
Let us know how things turn out,

  • Lost power mid update, now I get the plug into iTunes logo

I was doing my update for the Apple TV and my friend tripped on the power cable. After that it only displays the connect to itunes logo but I don't know how to connect it to itunes. Any ideas?

Yes that is needed.  Use the microUSB cable alone, no power lead etc.

  • Bought App, lost Iphone before sync, now what?

On my Iphone I bought a couple apps. I then lost the Iphone before I could sycn with my computer (because It is a particularly difficult process syncing it with my computer). I got my old Iphone up and running but I want those apps I paid for back. Is their a way I can get them back without having to rebuy them? I tried the "check for purchased" button in Itunes but that doesn't seem to work for apps.
It would be ridiculous for Itunes not having the ability to check my account to see if I bought it and re-download it onto my computer (and then sync it with my iphone).

Since it is an app, you can download it again for free. Pretend to buy it again, and the last screen will show a price button that is marked FREE.
Just an FYI, this only works for apps. Music and videos have different laws about copyrights, and you definitely would have to BUY music and videos again. They pay for each download so it's not unlimited free downloads. It's the same at other online stores such as amazon, rhapsody, napster, walmart, etc.
My advice is to not buy stuff from your phone - only buy from a PC and make sure to BACK UP THE FILES.
