4321 NetBT errors :1b after domain controller becomes pdc

I am getting  4321 NetBT errors :1b after domain controller becomes pdc errors after moving fsmo roles over to new pdc.  The error is the DOMAIN :1b could not be regitstered with the IP of the new DC.  The computer with the IP would not allow
it to be claimed.  I can;t ping the computer that would not allow it to be claimed and I dont see WINs on out network.  This is a HYPER-V domain controller.
Is this gonig to effect network clients?

Hi,
Glad to hear that it has been solved! Thank you very much for your sharing.
Please feel free to let us know if there are any issues in the future.

  • Error in starting domain controller !

I have installed on Windows 2000, Oracle 9i Database 9.0.1 and Oracle 9iFS release 9.0.1.
Configuration was OK, but the domain doesn't start.
    I launch 'ifslaunchdc.bat', 'ifslaunchnode.bat', and when I launch 'ifsstartdomain.bat', I receive this error:
"An exception occurred while starting Domain controller - oracle.ifs.common.IfsException: IFS-40066: Remothed method threw exception java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: OCIEnvHandle"
    OTHER WAY:
If I try in Oracle Management Server (from Oracle Enterprise Management Console), I go to Internet File Systems, I go to the domain picasso:53140 and it is launched (yellow light). I do right click and I choose 'Start Domain'. I receive the following message:
" The Domain Controller 'picasso:53140' is launched
    Command failed:
IFS-40066: Remothed method threw exception java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: OCIEnvHandle"
So, the same error, and I don't find anywhere this exception !
What should be done? Thanks, Jeanina

I am not sure how you got into this state, but to clear it up you can edit the boot.properties file to enter (clear text) the username and password for the server (entered when running the Configuration Wizard).
The boot.properties file is located in your domain at:
    <domain root>/servers/AdminServer/security
Just enter the username and password in the file:
    username=myUserName
    password=myPassword
WebLogic Server will boot up using these values and immediately encrypt the username and password in the file.
An alternate approach would be to delete boot.properties in which case WLS will prompt you for the id/pw each time it is started/stopped.

  • Error finding a domain controller

    Hi,
I have an error in finding a windows domain controller when a PC bootup and does a network access via a Cisco wireless PCMCIA card (AIR PCM-352) managed by Cisco ACU.
    This is the situation:
    - the operating system of the PC is Windows XP sp2
    - the wireless card is an AIR PCM352 with firmware V.5.60.21
    - the version of ACU is 6.6.00
    - the Access point is a Cisco 1120 (802.11b) with IOS version 12.3(8)JA
    - wireless communication is completely open (ssid in guest mode, authentication open ,no wep)
    - the ip address of the PC is obtained via DHCP (DHCP server is a Microsoft Server)
I notice a difference between a Cisco PCMCIA card 352 managed by Cisco ACU and by Windows XP.
In fact this error doesn't happen when the WLAN card is controlled by Windows wireless utility.
Is it possible that the startup timing of the Cisco ACU is later than the Window's one?
    Does anyone resolved this error?
    Thanks in advance
    Antonio

    Hi Antonio,
Obviously you get the error of the domain not found because your wireless card is not even associated (the wireless card utility hasn’t started)
Can you clarify the line "Is it possible that the startup timing of the Cisco ACU is later than the Window's one? " . You mean start the Cisco ACU before the windows one right?
The best way to get around issues like that is to use for example the Odyssey client from Funk and turn on GINA and it should work fine.
    Rgds,
    Pablo

    Hello,

http://blogs.technet.com/b/jhoward/archive/2008/06/16/how-does-basic-networking-work-in-hyper-v.aspx is a good article that explains the basics
of Hyper-V networking.  What you are describing generally comes down to understanding the basics and getting your virtual networking switch(es) properly configured.  When it comes to networking, IP is the same whether using physical or virtual machines.
You have to ensure that you have the proper paths in place that allow the communications to take place.
As for support of Hyper-V on a DC, I've not seen that it is unsupported.  Bad idea?  Yes.  Recommended practice?  No.  Would I do it?  No.  Should it work?  Absolutely.  Supported?  I haven't seen a Microsoft
    statement on that.

  • 7210 doesn't authenticate to secondary domain controller

We've been testing a 7210 configured to authenticate to a domain controller's MS active directory. Our testing indicates that when our primary domain controller is off line that the 7210 does not attempt to authenticate to the secondary domain controller. I would have expected it to behave like any other device set to authenticate on our domain and to use the secondary controller if the primary domain controller becomes unavailable.
Has anyone else noticed this behaviour and more importantly is there a way to configure the 7210 to ensure it will use the secondary if need be?
    Cheers.

For others who may come across this we ended up putting a support call in to Sun. The answer from Sun is:
"... have been informed that this is by design to occur like this. Many people don't believe it should so there is an
RFE raised and development is occurring to resolve this under an internal bug."

  • Sharepoint 2010 Can't be accessed after becoming a domain controller

Hi! I have installed Sharepoint 2010 on Windows server 2008 R2, which is was working fine until I became a domain controller. My computer name was changed to "originalname.mydomain.com" . Then,
I also renamed my original name to something else. So, the full name is completely new!
I used all sort of available solutions, such as:
    Rename-SPServer [-Identity] <OriginalServerName> -Name <NewServerName>
    AND
    stsadm -o renameserver -oldservername <oldServerName> -newservername -<newServerName>
using Powershell, but both are giving me this error:

I would have though that running IIS on a domain controller is going to be full of problems, IIS by it's nature allows anonymous access, not something you want on a domain controller.  Unless you are seriously limited on hardware, I would keep them
    separate.
Renaming SharePoint servers after installation also brings up a handle of problems, there are resources on Technet on how to do it as well as various posts in this forum, the over-riding recommendation is decide on the server names before you install and
    then stick to them.
Check out these resources regarding installing SharePoint on a domain controller, looks like there are a few things to consider.

  • Domain Controller going down after IDM implemented

    Hi,
We have implemented IDM 7.1 and are using the PSS (Password Self Service), Password Syncronization functionality for 2 AD and 6 ABAP systems. This PSS is implemented to support our company ESS which is on the internet so that users can reset their own password. Hence to support it we have a architecture having one AD on the DMZ and another internal.
Both the AD repositories have been configured pointing to a perticular DC (Domain Contorller) . All the DC's have Phook installed on them.
Since Go-live we have not had any issue with the DC on the DMZ but the internal DC keeps going down once in a while and it doesnt have a pattern. We tried switching to different DC's also which didnt work. Right now we are keeping a close watch on the DC and we carryout a restart whenever it happens.
Did anyone come across such kind of a issue, if so then please let me know.
    Thanks.

    Hi Ahmed,
Thank you for your quick response!  Our secondary domain controller IP settings were set properly according to the recommendation, but the primary (the one having the issues) was not. I went ahead and changed the settings and did an ipconfig /registerdns
and restarted the netlogon service. Nothing changed after that. I ran a dcdiag and the only one that failed was this:
          Starting test: NCSecDesc
Error NT AUTHORITY\ENTERPRISE DOMAIN CONTROLLERS doesn't have
Replicating Directory Changes In Filtered Set
access rights for the naming context:
             DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=*hidden*,DC=*hidden*
Error NT AUTHORITY\ENTERPRISE DOMAIN CONTROLLERS doesn't have
Replicating Directory Changes In Filtered Set
access rights for the naming context:
             DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=*hidden*,DC=*hidden*
......................... *hidden PDC Name* failed test NCSecDesc
I'm going to restart the server tonight after those IP changes and let you know my outcome.
    Thanks again!

  • Error determining whether the target server is already a domain controller: Failed to open the runspace pool

Hi there , i already have some others DC running w2k12 R2 on the env, but when i was promoting another new DC running w2k12 R2 on the middle of the AD sync , the server encounter an error and rebooted it self ; after the server came back online , it keep
saying that a configuration is required for AD Domain Services , like the step when you are about to promote the server , but when you try to promote it , the error "Error determining whether the target server is already a domain controller: Failed
to open the runspace pool. The server manager winrm plug-in might be corrupted or missing."

  • DFSR Replication Event ID 1202 The DFS Replication service failed to contact domain controller Additional Information: Error: 160 (One or more arguments are not correct.)

    Hi,
    hummmm...
The client had 1 Server with AD and All Apps, IIS, Terminal Servers (30 device Cal), File Server, SQL2008R2 on it
Task: Install new AD server promote it to DC,  bring in 2nd server, Replicate the File Server (DFSR) on these 2 servers, and demote it to standard server.
    1) Old AD with name "Server" with OS-2008R2 SP1 and is a DC.
    2) Brought in a new server "PrimaryAD", Installed 2008R2, done DC Promo, and added it as Additional Domain controller
    3) Transferred roles from old server "Server" to "PrimaryAD"
    4) Brought in a new File Server replicating server "Backup-Server"
    5) Copied all the data from Server to Backup-server as DFS initial file sync with robocopy
    6) here the problem started, after the copy finished, next morning the "Server" server crashed.....
    7) thank god the data was backed up on Backup-server. but we didnt get the time to Demote the server "Server" and remove AD from it.
    8) Since AD was replicated so "PrimaryAD" was are DC, brought 2nd Server "SecondaryDC" as additional domain controller.
    9) we cleaned up the metadata and used ASIEDIT to clean the remaining stuff.
    10) the "Server" server was formatted and renamed as "Primary-Server" and OS2008R2 SP1 was installed with rest of required apps
    11) so now the PrimaryAD the DC, SecondaryAD the Additional Domain controller, Primary-Server the mail server and File server, the Backup-server, the replicated server.
Now configured DFS Replication from Primary-Server to Backup-server and receive following Event ID 1202
If i Configure DFS Replication as follows
PrimaryAD <<>> SecondaryAD -= Works... no errors...
PrimaryAD <<>> Backup-Server = Creates but Dosent works Event ID 5012, error The DFS Replication service failed to communicate with partner BACKUP-SERVER, Additional Information: Error: 9026 (The connection is invalid)
PrimaryAD <<>> Primary-Server = Dosent creates replication job just hangs,
on primaryad continious Eveni ID 10009, DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer "SERVER" using any of the configured protocols
......something on PrimaryAD is still trying to connect to old corrupt AD server "Server"
No errors with AD replication, SYSVOL & Netlogon shares also working fine and accessible.
    DFS Diagnose report says
    DNS name: backup-server.mydomain.com
    Domain name: mydomain.COM
Reference domain controller: --           (HERE there is NO DOMAIN CONTROLLER mentioned)
    IP address: 192.168.1.248,192.168.1.251,::1
    Site: Default-First-Site-Name
Forgot to mention, gave full rights with ADSIEDIT to DFSR-LocalSettings  for all server to Administrator and read permissions to "Authenticated Users"
    DFSRDIAG POLLAD throws following error

    Hi,
It seems that DCPROMO did its work without complaints, still the DFSR references remained in AD. You could refer to the article below to clean up the DFS Replication object.

  • Turning on a Domain Controller after ntdsutil metadacleanup

    Hello,
I was in the middle of doing a lifecycle replacement swapping out 2003 servers for 2008 R2 servers.  I promoted my 2 Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controllers.  I tried to demote my Windows 2003 SP1 server and kept getting lsass errors and
crashing my domain controller.  After the lsass errors I simply turned off the domain controller and did a ntdsutil meta data cleanup on that domain controller.  Unfortunately we installed the McAfee managed client on the new domain controllers and
broke the secure link so I had to demote them.  After fixing the problem, I tried to promote them again and I keep getting lsass errors and the Windows Server 2003 SP1 domain controller blue screens so I need to bring the other 2003 server back online.
My question is, when I turn on the 2003 domain controller, will it continue as a domain controller even after metadata cleanup?  The only reason I ask is because when I did metadata clean up it prompted with a message that if I turn the domain controller
back on it will be revived.

    >>>My question is, when I turn on the 2003 domain controller, will it continue as a domain controller
    even after metadata cleanup?
No.  You are manually removing this DC from AD database.
You can promote this server as DC again if need.  Start with a new OS

  • Error while configuring ADC (Additional Domain Controller)

    Hello Experts,
I am configuring ADC (Additional Domain controller) in a member server which is in workgroup. while configuring ADC on that server, I got a window saying "additional information for this domain controller", where there were three options, i.e.
DNS server, Global Catalog, RODC (Read only Domain controller) and bydefault first two options(DNS & Global Catalog) were checked. I kept that setting and clicked on next. Now this is showing I need to give a static IP to my adapter, but I have already
given a static IP. when I unchecked the DNS button from that window it was not giving such error. Now my question is if I continue without checking the DNS, will it give me trouble in future. Please suggest. I am using MS2008 R2.
    Swaprakash..

Ensure that you don't have another NIC in your server that is set to obtain IP address from DHCP. However, even if you proceed with this warning, you will probably not have any errors later, as long as you're sure that you have static IP assigned to your
    internal NIC.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you. Thank you! Damir
