4358 Mb of my 8 Gb RAM are hardware reserved

I have HP Pavilion dv7-4102er. Bought in 2011. I was trying to fix this issue over last year, but didn't found any solution in the whole Internet. I'm shure it's not video card reserved RAM, because it has it's own 1 Gb of RAM, and integrated videochip have less than 1 Gb.
I payed for 8 Gb of RAM and what I get?
I got this:

As I thought. With 1 stick in bottom slot (top slot still not working at all, system didn't start with only 1 stick in it) hardware reserved memory is only 262 Mb, it's totally normal amount, i think (maybe integrated videochip using it).
So, now we see, that top slot didn't work at all, BUT Windows still see it, and marking as "Hardware Reserved"... Damit mistery
Looks like a BIOS bug. Have you tried a hard reset??

  • RAM limitation / Hardware Reserved

Been playing around with the 64bit win10TP and its great so far, except that in 'system properties'  it says "Installed memory (RAM): 8.00 GB (3.20 GB usable)"  is their a limit of ~4GB in the x64 TP, why is it showing this?
using amd A10 cpu, mobo supports up to 16GB (more details on request, if needed), cmd reports windows version 6.4.9841

    Hi cracksman,
Hardware Reserved Memory that is reserved for use by the BIOS and some drivers for other peripherals.
In your situation, the problem may occur because the system BIOS is outdated or incompatibility issue. If you have an older computer, the system may be unable to access all the installed RAM. In this case, you have to update the system BIOS to the latest
    version.
To update the BIOS on your computer, visit the Web site of your computer manufacturer to download the BIOS update. Or, contact your computer manufacturer for help.

  • Hardware Reserved RAM

I have 8GB of RAM installed on my motherboard and Windows shows that half of it is "hardware reserved." My BIOS (Click 4) only reads half of the installed RAM amount. I have tried adding my friend's RAM to the system and the same thing happened again, half of the RAM was hardware reserved the BIOS only read half of the ram. I am sure that the RAM is good because it ran fine on my friend's computer.
I have tried everything that I have read online: flash the BIOS, rearrange the RAM in every configuration, trying each stick individually, unchecking the Max                       Memory box in advanced boot options in msconfig, ran Memtest, manually set RAM timings in BIOS, reseating the APU, wiped my HDD and reinstalled Windows
My rig:  A10-5800K Trinity Quad Core 3.8GHz APU with Radeon (TM) HD Graphics
A88-G45 Gaming Motherboard (Click 4 BIOS version 1.60)
                G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600
EVGA GTX 960 2GB (also tested this issue with an R7 250X)
                EVGA 500W PSU
                Windows 7 Professional SP1
I have read that this motherbaord chipset automatically detects APUs and dedicates RAM to that, but is it possible to bypass that feature so that all of my RAM is    usable? Or maybe a way to disable the graphics driver on the APU? If this feature is not the problem, then what might it be?
Thank you ahead of time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any way to determine which part specifically is the issue? Like disabling the integrated graphics? I don't know if I can return the APU if it is the problem because I don't have the original packaging and it was purchased a few months ago.
Is there anything in the MSI BIOS that is similar to this at 1:56?

  • How much ram are You using ?

Dear Logic Users, simply question :
How much ram are You using on your logic-mac system ?
    Thank you

Does anyone know how much RAM you can whack in one of these new quad machines? And if and when Logic goes 64-bit to catch up with it all, will it be able to use 8GB of RAM? Just wondering, cos as mthinking of getting one of these critters fairly soon.. Best, Fred

  • How much RAM should be reserved from OracleAS?

    Hello there,
we have a Server with 4 CPUs (Dual Core) and 16 GB RAM.
    The following is installed:
2x OracleAS Infrastructure 10.1.2.0.2 (OID used)
2x OracleAS Middletier 10.1.2.0.2 with BPEL and one Reports Server (plus a Apache serving APEX).
With normal load (about 20 users working simultanly) the 16GByte RAM are completely used by OracleAS-Components and the system has to use the Swapspace, which is very slow.
    Most RAM is needed by processes like java -server -Djava.security.policy=/mcshare/APLINip8/mid1t/mid101202/j2ee/OC4J_BPEL/config/java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true -Doc4j.userThreads=true -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -server -Xms256M -Xmx512M -Doracle.mdb.fastU
Is this normal? What can I do to lower the consumption of RAM?

My Macbook Pro is also using about 1.3GB RAM with virtually everything shut down (mail, safari, ical, itunes, etc). Yet, my husbands uses only about 400-500MB with the nearly identical applications left running.
    I have 4GB, he has 2GB.
We compared the running applications one-by-one, and mine uses nearly double his for the exact same application.
Does a laptop use more memory if it has more memory to use?
This really bothers me. There does not seem to be any reason for mine to be consuming more RAM when running the same small applications as his does yet I can't figure out why?
    Ahhhhh!

    One more question
My User Guide of Mother Board  says "DUE TO RESOURCE DEPLOYMENT ,THE SYSTEM DENSITY WILL ONLY BE DETECTED UP 7+GB(NOT FULL 8GB) WHEN EACH DIMM IS INSTALLED WITH A 2 GB MEMORY MOUDULE"
i have 4 dimms and now it says that max is 8gb ...and i cannot keep directly 8gb ram in a single slot ...i have to keep 2+2+2+2 ...
So my max limit is 8 gb ....correct me if  i am wrong guys ...

  • Memory upgrade on the NB550D-11D - 4GB RAM are possible

To anyone who's thinking about a memory upgrade on the NB550D:
The NB550D supports up to 4GB of memory, not only 2GB as mentioned by Toshiba in their specifications.
A memory upgrade to 2GB is _only limited_ by the pre-installed Windows 7 Starter OS, not by the netbook itself.
I'm using Linux Mint 11 Katya, 64bit and my system is running perfectly well with a 4GB ram module. If you want to use full 4 GB ram support, get rid of the Win 7 Starter OS.
The specification for higher volume ram is DDR3 1333MHz PC3-10600 SO-Dimm. I've chosen one 4GB module by Corsair, due to the 30 years warranty Corsair offers.
It took me quite a while to find this out, hope this is going to be a help to everybody who's just as unsecure as I was how to upgrade the NB550D memory. Good luck. ;o)

    > A memory upgrade to 2GB is only limited by the pre-installed Windows 7 Starter OS, not by the netbook itself.
I can confirm this. Two days ago Ive installed own Win7 32bit Home Premium and upgraded my NB520 with 4GB RAM. 3GB are in usage now and notebook runs perfectly.
With original Win7 Starter version I have noticed annoying display behaviour while watching action movies. When the scene in the movie was without movement everything was ok but by action scenes some strange lines were shown on the screen.
Now after own OS installation everything works perfectly and Im so happy with my NB520.
I can just recommend it for everyday usage.
    By the way: I use 4GB SO-DIMM DDR3-1333Mhz PC3-10600

  • These two rams are same?

Hi,i am new hereI am looking for a ram for my desktop , while browsing rams on amazon i found this Crucial CT51264BF160B ram and when i searched for this ram on Crucial's website and then tried to check if its compatible with my PC ,the product page turned into Crucial CT5297259. this happened more than twice so i am wondering if both products are same ? I hope you are getting what i mean.Sorry for bad English :3

    Hello,
The two parts are basically the same. When you order online by system information, you are shown what we refer to as an “external” part number, in your case number CT5297259. It is a system specific number and is mapped exclusively to the HP 18-1106in All-in-One. The longer part number, CT51264BF160B, is the one that would you see printed on your module, and that is the actual module part number, or the "base" part number. There are other specifications to memory than the basic ones published on the site, and they sometimes requires us to filter out a certain build of a part for a specific system. The external part number can accomplish this, since we can build filters into them when necessary. Those filters are also the reason that we can only guarantee compatibility if you order by system; the external part number tells us which computer you are ordering for. If you order by specifications we don't know what model of computer you have, and that makes it impossible to guarantee compatibility.

    Hello,
I don't think Apple has actually "made" any hardware for years, they design it & have others build it.

  • RAM - is Hardware test or memtest best?

    Hi
I'm having regular kernel panics - about 1 a day so have tested the RAM to see if that's causing the problem.
The Apple Hardware test is showing a problem with DIMM0 (would I be correct in thinking DIMM1 is the factory install?)
However, using the memtest software doesnt show any faults... which one is liable to me more accurate?
    Thanks

    Hello,
I'll agree with the others, and say that if the memory shows bad in any test that I would be concerned.
But, as for which one I would take most seriously, I would trust Apple's in this case. There are two reasons:
First, Apple's hardware test rarely has a false positive. It will miss problems with memory more than it catches them. So, if it finds a problem, I would consider it a definitely problem.
Second, this is the only test that Apple is going to take seriously and care about. They are not going to rely on your findings from an unsupported 3rd-party program. Since they cannot control the quality of that other test, they are not going to replace parts based on it's results. So, they will only take the results from their own tests seriously. And, you can call them with the error code that the test returned, and they will issue a replacement part for you (assuming that it is their memory module that's bad and not one you installed from somewhere else).
    I hope this helps.

  • Printable area / Hardware margins of a Photosmart 6510 all-in-one

I need to know the hardware margins (a.k.a printable area) of my 6510 printer. I am sure this information used to be in the technical specifications but I cannot find it there now. I specifically need to know the margins in both duplex and non duplex modes. The margins I am referring to are those imposed by the printer firmware and physical hardware, not those imposed by software or drivers.

  • IMac 2011 windows 7/8 reserves 1816 MB ram for hardware

    Hello,
    I have an iMac 12,1.
When I install windows 7/8 on my iMac it says that 1816 MB is reserved for hardware.
A fresh install doesn't fix the problem.
The operating system is 32 bit.
It isn't a limitation from 32 bit because the limitation is 3.6 gb ram.
I can currently use 2.2 gb of my 4gb installed.
Opening msconfig and unchecking Maximum memory doesn't fix the problem.

    512 mb video ram
And that is 512mb of the 1816mb that is reserved, If you check your memory structure I am sure you can find the rest.
Why you want to use 32bit software on a 64bit system is beyond me, but it is the cause of the problem.
