4400 Controller added radius now.......

you can only reach it if your on the same vlan as the management interface. The vlan is routing fine I can get to any other device on this vlan from otheres just not the controllers the only change was adding a radius server. I have 2 controllers same thing with both. I get an error trying to delete the radius entry as well. Any ideas?

  • Is there any limitation of firmware or hardware for QoS configuration (4400 controller & 1252 AP's)

    Hi Experts,
Before proceeding for adding AP model 1131 and 1252 into my set-up , I need to know whether any limitation of firmware or hardware for QoS configuration in wireless set-up .
    I have 4400 controller and 1130 & 1250 AP models.

    Hi Vinod,
Since you have 4400 controllers, you can run upto WLC 7.0.x code. Refer this for more detail
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html
there is no specific limitation to 1131/1252 AP model as such, everything is WLC software dependent.
From later software 7.4.x,7.6.x,8.x, lots of improvement for QoS configuration & bandwidth control, but since your controller is old hardware, you cannot have those latest features.
here is a reference post on how QoS works in wireless environment

  • What VLAN should the management interface be in on a 4400 controller?

    Hi,
Some documentations put the management interface on a 4400 controller into a regular tagged VLAN. But some documentations put it in an untagged Native VLAN, the tag=0. What is the difference? Which configuration is optimal?
    Thanks,
    Justin

The answer is "it depends" :-)
I would not say any particular config is optimal though. If you have an established VLAN for management interfaces, I would use that. However if you put the management interface in the same VLAN as your AP's, AP's find your controllers easier. Otherwise you can use DHCP to point AP's to controllers.
I prefer to tag the frame as to which VLAN it belongs to, even if that is the same as the native VLAN.

  • 4400 Controller Dropping DHCP Packets

We have a working wireless set up with an external DHCP server. We just tried to set up a new one but we are faced with this issue:
Client DHCP requests are forwarded from the controller to the serve. The server sees the requests and assigns addresses but for some reason the clients aren't able to get them. From what I'm reading around the 'net it looks like it could be an Option 43 setting or that th controlles is dropping the request. If anyone has ideas it would be much appreciated.
Cisco 4400 Controller with software ver. 4.2.61.0
    Justin

Do you have an Option 43 setup for the clients, or for the AP's to connect to the controller over a L3 link? In the Interface setup that the WLAN is linked to, did you add or change the IP address to the list of DHCP servers for that link. The controller pretty much forwards everything on to the LAN, but then restricts the packets from the LAN to the WLAN. I hope this helps.

  • I updated by iPhone4 to IOS5 and added iCloud, now I cannot access my g-mail account?  How do I get access back?  Same thing happened to my iPad.

I upgraded by iPhone 4 to IOS 5 and added iCloud.  Now I cannot access my Gmail account.  It was there before the upgrade, now it's gone.  I have tried to re-add the account, but it does not work.  The same thing has happened to my iPad2.  I have lost the access to Gmail.  How do I re-establish contact?

Are they in your iTunes library on the computer? If so, sync with iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. Select your iPad from the left side under "Devices". Click on the apps tab in the iTunes window on the right. Select the Sync Apps heading. Select all of the apps in the list and then click on Sync or Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
You can also download the apps again for free in the app store via the purchased tab or download them again in iTunes on your computer and then sync the a[[s to the iPad. You have to use the same Apple ID that you bought the apps with in order to download them again for free.

  • Adding RADIUS VSAs on ACS 3.2 SE

I have tried to add a VSA to enable a Packeteer to authenticate using RADIUS on the ACS.
Using RDBMS synchronization to import the csv file below.
    SequenceId,Priority,GroupName,Action,ValueName ,Value1,Value2,Value3
    1,1,External,163,26,access=look,2334,1
The group name is 'External', Action is 163 which corresponds to ADD_RADIUS_ATTR.
From RDBMS Sychronization Import Definitions (http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/access/acs_soft/csacs4nt/acs32/user/ag.htm#wp35130)
To add a vendor-specific attribute (VSA), set VN = "26" and use V2 and V3 as follows:
•V2 = IETF vendor ID (which in this case is 2334)
    •V3 = VSA attribute ID (1)
    •V1 = In this case 'access=look'
After a couple of attempts I got the format correct but when I try and import the file I don't get an "INFO" message in the "Reports" section of the ACS indicating that the process was successful. I don't get any message at all, WARNING, ERROR or INFO.
From the FTP server I can confirm that the file was transferred.
What I should get is an INFO message similar to:
    08/30/2004 16:27:50 INFO Sync complete: 1 transaction(s) 0 parse error(s) 0 process error(s)
Any ideas as to what is wrong would be much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Aylmer.

Also the stpes on how to do them is listed here
    Create a User Defined Vendor
First, you need to create a User Defined Vendor.
    1. Create a text file (packet.ini) and enter the following:
    [User Defined Vendor]
    Name=Packeteer
    IETF Code=2334
    VSA 1=Packeteer-AVPair
    [Packeteer-AVPair]
    Type=STRING
    Profile=OUT
    2. Name the file packet.ini.
Add the Vendor to the Database
Next, you need to add the above vendor to the database.
    1. Go to the command prompt, and change the directory to the Cisco Secure utils directory (typically C:\Program Files\CiscoSecure ACS v3.0\Utils).
    2. The instructions below install the vendor into User Defined slot 0. If you have other vendors, you need to change this number to a free slot. To see a list of slots and their assignments, use the csutil -listudv command. For example:
    C:\Program Files\CiscoSecure ACS v3.0\Utils>csutil -listudv

    3. Run csutil -addudv to and add Packeteer to UDV (User Defined Vendor) slot 0 or the next
    open slot.
    C:\Program Files\CiscoSecure ACS v3.0\Utils>csutil -addudv 0 c:\temp\packet.ini

Adding or removing vendors requires ACS services to be re-started.
Please make sure regedit is not running as it can prevent registry

  • ACS 5.1 RADIUS Proxy - Adding RADIUS attributes

Is there anyway under ACS 5.1 to add RADIUS attributes to outgoing RADIUS proxy auth requests or failing this to RADIUS proxy accounting updates?
As soon as I configure a RADIUS proxy services, there is little config I can do other than to say whether or not the prefix and suffix is to be stripped.
I can add these attributes if using an external RADIUS box as an identity store, but I cannot do this for this particular service and instead I need to use RADIUS proxying.
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Steve,
The shared secret is 100% correct.
Finally I find out that there may be some white lists for attributes.
If I keep NAS-Identifier , it will work.
But it can't pass all VSA (3GPP sub-attributes) , it only shows one or three in BOTH ACS and RADIUS Server.
The other is the RADIUS VSA User Define Options (which is in SA > C > D > P > RADIUS > RADIUS VSA > Edit ) .
When 'Vendor Length Field Size' changes to 0 , All sub-attributes pass thought ACS .
The RADIUS Server gets the message from NSA.
Of course, there is the Proxy-State attribute.
In this condition, the ACS has incorrect output in the sub-attribute.
Now I try 5.2 to see the problem exist or not.

  • WIRELESS 4400 CONTROLLER WPA-2

Hi Wireless Lan controller 4400 the documnetation on this product is awfull . I am trying to configure wpa-2 using 802.1x authentication or leap is this possable as for web interface cannot find were you set authentication type. if wpa-2 uses a particular type what is it. Probably a very dumb question but these option apper to be availble on all airnet products

Web authentication enhancements extend the total number of characters on Web authorization customization to 500 characters. The user can also use a "submit" button instead of a full user name / password challenge. A third enhancement allows Wi-Fi Protected Access/Pre-Shared Key (WPA/PSK) and WPA2/PSK to work with Web authentication. These enhancements provide more flexibility in deploying wireless networks with Web authentication.
Wireless LAN Controllers supported: Cisco 2000, 4100, and 4400 Series
Access points supported: Cisco Aironet 1010 and 1020 Series lightweight access points

    Hi,
My MBP slowed so much righted away after I upgraded to OS X Mavericks, I upgraded to 16GB RAM as suggested, and the problem of slow got resloved, but now it crashed all the time, totally crased over 10 times within couple days(only few hours of using), I am pasting my MBP info here, please help to identify the crashing problem, is it the bad RAM? or some program caused it?   I brought my 16GB RAM at macsales.com.

I use VM Ware. The crash only tell me "your computer had a problem" or something like that, but it won't say which program caused it. Sometimes I was using firefox, it got crashed, sometimes when I try to open VM Ware, it crashed, sometimes, I leave my MBP there, it crashed itself.

I had a strange issue. I am having a controller 4400 with 7.0.250.0. It  went  faulty and i got the replacement. For the new box i upgraded to 7.0.250.0 and when i am restoring the backup i am getting the following error
Cisco Controller) >cp: unable to remove `/mnt/application/erversn.txt': Read-only file system
cp: unable to remove `/mnt/application/erversn.txt': Read-only file system

    Hi Team;
It was a hardware issue. Replaced the hardware and its fine.

  • AE added and now can't use AirTunes

I've had an Airport Express for a while used only for AirTunes.
Now I have added an AirPort extreme base station for wireless networking, and no longer can use iTunes to stream music to the stereo.
The steps I have taken are these:
I moved the express into the same room with the base station and connected it directly to the base station with ethernet. I then did a hard reset on the express so that I could see it with Airport Utility. Then I followed these instructions from AirPort Utility help:
AirPort Express: How to join an existing wireless network in client mode
    1. Plug AirPort Express into a power outlet.
    2. On your computer, join the wireless network created by AirPort Express.
    3. Open AirPort Setup Assistant. Mac users: Find it in /Applications/Utilities/.
    4. Select "Set up a new AirPort Base Station" and click Next.
    5. When the AirPort Setup Assistant confirms that it has found your AirPort Express, click Continue.
    6. Select "Connect to my current wireless network."
Be sure that "Extend the range of my AirPort wireless network" is not selected (this option is used only for WDS).
Click Next; AirPort Express Assistant will scan for your existing wireless network. Once it finds it, click Next again.
    7. Choose the correct network (there may only be one) from the Wireless Network Name menu. If the wireless network is password protected, you will be prompted to enter the password. Enter the password and then click Next to continue.
    8. Enter the name of your AirPort Express.
Tip: If you don't know the name, it's what appears in iTunes as the name of your AirTunes remote speakers.
    Click Next.
    ( etc.)
So, everything seemed to go fine. The original AirPort Express network disappeared, I assume because it "joined" my new wireless network named for the base station.
But... iTunes only remembers the original express network. It's not recognizing the new. I am connected to the only Apple Network XXXXX that there is though. My internet and printers all seem fine, it's just the Airtunes thing.
So any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Uh oh, so can no one help me with this? I sorely miss being able to stream my iTunes to my stereo.
Any suggestions would really be appreciated.

  • 2nd domain controller added does not process logins

This probably a very simple answer, but have search wide/far and still can't fix my issue; I'm hoping someone here can point me in the correct direction. I'm just not a wiz with DNS/AD as I used to.
I am building a test domain in my VM environment and when I take down the #1 DC, (the one I built first), my test Win7 machine can NOT connect to the domain.  I'm more than certain this is a DNS issue, but do not know how to fix it.  This is an
AD integrated DNS, both DC's are GC's, both are running DNS and each point to themselves.  I'm using a Win7 machine that has static IP address - machine is a member of the test domain.
In order to "simulate" DC1 going down, I simply disable the NIC.
    DC1: IP = 10.10.1.5
    DC2: IP = 10.10.1.10
win7 Host: IP =10.10.2.10 (static assigned, so not AD integrated DHCP)
From the host, here is the IPCONFIG/all
    C:\>ipconfig /all
    Windows IP Configuration
       Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : WIN7-ESX-PC
       Primary Dns Suffix  . . . . . . . : doghouse.local

       IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
       WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

       DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
       Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes

                                           10.10.1.10

Also, when the NIC is UP on DC1, I see the following output on NSLOOKUP

    doghouse-dc2-srv.doghouse.local internet address = 10.10.1.10
    doghouse-dc1-srv.doghouse.local internet address = 10.10.1.5
when the NIC is down I get this, as well as if I reboot the machine and try to login, it says "no domain services available

Hi all - sorry for the delay in responding (work happens).
So yes, the SVR records were properly listed in both DNS servers and I did multiple reboots; rebuilt the SVR records from scratch - just about everything under the sun -- I think added 2 more DC's to the mix, and moved FSMO roles over to one of them, then
began to demote the other 2 DCs to see if it was something in their build--in the end though I was never able to remove the original DC1 out of the domain - gave me odd messages about not being able to contact the domain to have it remove.  (this is after
FSMO roles were moved off) -
Long story short, I blew the configuration away and yet again started from scratch and it is working now as I'd expect.  Although when I do disabled the NIC from DC1 to simulate failure, it still takes about 10-15 sec for the machines to login to the
domain - when I type: echo %logonserver% it does confirm it hits DC2 when DC1 is down, but still a little delay.  I think the difference in the new configuration is that I set DC2's primary dns server to DC1.  I also installed DFS and the NETLOGON
shares are replicating, (not sure if that made a difference)
I guess for now we can consider this answered although I'm not sure who to give points to...I do appreciate everyone's time in reading and trying to help -- I bet this wont' be the last time I post here.

  • Added Array, Now What?

Forgive my incompetence about adding an array, but all the posts about people losing everything has me apprehensive about restarting the system. I do have stuff backed up, but do not want to create a mess if something goes wrong at this point.
I added a RAID 5 array, filling out the lower half of an Xserve. Raid admin recognizes it under arrays & drives. The arrays are listed under the picture as 1 RAID 5 and 2 RAID 5.
    Now what?
Do I just use "Add System" in Raid Admin? (right now it shows one system with an address) or, do I shut everything down, restart and then run disk utility according to the manual?

You should enable journaling. It doesn't affect performance in any meaningful way.
What journaling DOES do is prevent the system from having to run 'fsck' on the disk, should it be shut down uncleanly. On a 1 TB volume, fsck can take an hour (or hours!) to run, and the system cannot finish booting until this time, so what you'll see is that your system appears to "hang" at boot time, and unless you know what's going on and have the patience to wait 1 or 2 or 3 hours until it completes, will probably panic and think your machine is hosed. I've seen it way too many times. Enable journaling, please
