4400 halts during bootup asking for updated installer - why?

I'm rebuilding a 4400/200, which shows great promise but halts during boot up with a dialogue asking for an updated installer disk. The only button is "restart".
I want to run the 4400 on OS7.5.3 which it supports so I've installed it on an external scsi HD. It starts to boot, the little happy Mac icon shows then the dreaded dialogue box appears. I've tried to boot from CD (Gen Apple OS7.5.3 CDROM) zapped the PRAM, taken the internal IDE drive out (that has OS9.2 - planning to erase it).
My concern is the 4400 also stops when booting from "Disk Tools 2" on floppy, my other 4400 (OS9.1) works fine from that.
Any ideas why the 4400 should start to boot correctly then throw up the "correct installer disk needed" dialogue?

You may be out of luck, because System Enabler 827 is probably only found on the 4400's OS 7.5.3 Restore disk. Because the 4400 had a different architecture from the other Power Macs, OS 7.5's built-in, universal System enabler doesn't fully cover it. OS 7.5.5 and 7.6 aren't supported on the 4400/200, but OS 7.6.1 is, which has a universal enabler. You might want to try eBay for the full-install OS 7.6.1 retail/universal installer disk. I think that there was an OS 7.6.1 Update disk, which merely updated OS 7.6 to 7.6.1. If you're interested, here's the full 7.6.1 installer disk. Otherwise, try to find the 4400 Restore disk.

Entry point errors can often be fixed by deleting the offending dll, then repairing the component it is part of. CoreMedia.dll is part of Apple Application Support.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

Hey. I have recently made an update on my daughters iMac, particularly the update OS X 10.9.4, when finished, its still asking for update and the same update stills remarked as ready in the apple update menu and remarked as 1 to go at the App store app. Why doesn't stop asking for update when its done like 5 times or more? Thanks for taking your time!

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • Have purchased ilife11 garage band but garageband keeps asking for updates

How do i upate garageband to ilfe11 already purchased and downloaded it

    Hi Paula,
If I understand correctly you already purchased iLife '11 and updated your computer with it. I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say that GarageBand (GB) keeps asking for updates. Perhaps this will help. Even though iLife '11 is a new software, there already has been a number of software updates to iPhoto '11, iMovie '11, and GB '11 as well. The new software updates come during weekdays, usually on Tuesday or Wednesday. In general it's advised to check up for new software updates on regular basis. I do it every day from Monday through Friday. Sometimes there is whole bunch of updates available every week, and sometimes there is nothing for some time. So, if by any chance you haven't updated your software since the time you installed iLife '11, it's possible that all these updates are waiting till you do what you have to do, meaning, click on Apple icon in upper left corner of your screen, and then click on Software Update in scroll down menu, after you do that, the box with a message will appear on the screen. If there aren't any updates it will say so, in that case click on Quit. If there is something available, go for it, just follow the instructions. You can update right away or latter, but you need these updates. If you want to be sure that your GB is up to date, open any project, click on GarageBand in menu bar (left upper corner of your screen), then click on Check for Updates in down scroll menu. If there is update available, just follow the instructions, if there is nothing there, the message box will appear saying that your GB is up to date.
    Cheers!

  • HT201364 Hi, If I do not have to pay for free installation, why am I being asked for billing details?

Hi, If I do not have to pay for free installation, why am I being asked for billing details?
    Aaron

iCloud backs up your iOS device (not your Mac) automatically. You can remove the backup:
    http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm122d3ef202
and it will not back up again. This will not affect a backup made using iTunes. The notice you see refers to calendars, contacts, iWork documents and so on, which live on the server and are read from there by your Mac, and so will obviously disappear if you turn iCloud off altogether (which you don't need to do) or turn off Documents (which you don't need to do either).

Have you tried signing out of the App Store then signing back in?
From the App Store menu bar click Store > Sign Out
Quit and relaunch the App Store then click Store > Sign In with the correct Apple ID.

My iPhone 5 is blocked after asking for update IOS 7.0.2 it shows on the screen iTunes with an arrow. Any idea To unblock it please?

I have a similair problem.  My Iphone 5 has been doing a recovery for approximately 6 to 7 hours.  Should I expect it to take this long or should I restart the process?  Itunes does say it is doing a recovery and looks active but I question the length of time that this is taking.
    Thank You in Advance...

  • CC asking for updates for updated apps.

I update all apps, but it keeps asking for update for the same apps. I updated them several times today.

I followed Adobe's direction on how to fix the problem and it worked but only for the five updates that had been showing up repeatedly. They went away but a couple days later two new ones showed up and after I installed them they showed up again a couple days later. Surely you aren't recommending that people have to go in and do the fix for every set of updates are you?
    thanks,

As Motorola's primary product line is mobile phones, could you have put some 'phone syncing software on your Mac?

Niel, thanks for your response.  I have been very wary of downloading Mavericks on this machine.  I don't feel it has the power to run it and I'm afraid it was slow it down terribly.  It was bought in late 2008.  It's fine for my purposes at this time…just holding on until I buy a new one.  I have the same problem others have with autofill not working, so I was trying to see if an update would help that situation.  Grace

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
