4402 Guest Access Issues

We currently have a 4402 Controller with several AP's configured and working great. We have 2 SSID's mapped to 2 different VLAN's as well. 1 SSID is for Internal use and has EAP-FAST, ACS Auth, etc configure. The Guest SSID is using the local net usernames as expected, however, it is also using the ACS server as well. We would prefer to prevent internal employees from even being able to authenticate to the Guest SSID. Any ideas?

This doesn't seem to do it for me.
Here's what I have on the ACS Server for the Default Group:
Define IP-based access restrictions (checked)
Denied Calling/ Point of Access Locations
NDG:TACACS (For our switches/ routers
Port: *
Address *
Define CLI/DNIS-baswed access restrictions
Permitted Calling/ Point of Access Locations

Thanks in advance

  • E4200 Wireless Guest Access issue

Hello, I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have the wireless guest access set up in my E4200 flash to the latest firmware.
When I connect to the wireless guest network it comes up under the 192.168.33.xx IP address. I can connect fine but it never pops up the browser so that you can type in the guest password. I'm running Windows 7 but I've also noticed the exact same problem under XP.
The only thing I can guess is the problem is that I have this acting like an access point and all DHCP requests go to my router. I've basically turned off DHCP on this and plugged the network connection into the switch on the back.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Josh

If I go to 192.168.33.1 it does pop up the browser but when I enter the password It just hangs. Not sure if it was connected or not. Is there no way to pop up the browser automatically?

  • 4402 - Guest Access no longer working

When this started, I cannot be sure, but it has been working for sometime now and cannot understand where the problem is.
There is one guest interface, one guest WLAN. The WLAN is set with a DHCP override address of the guest interface. But it no longer allows this as I found out. Anyway, I can get the client to now receive an address from the internal pool on the WLC, but it will not route to the authentication page. I noticed that the WLC excludes the clients attempting to connect on the guest WLAN due to failed 802.1x authentication! the WLC never even gave me the chance to authenticate using an account created either through the lobby ambassador or creating one directly on the controller.
    Any ideas?

It looks as though there is a couple of issues here. Firstly, there was a problem on LAN preventing communications. This is now fixed. Secondly, the internal DHCP service on the WLC's would not allow the WLAN to override the DHCP server address with the address of the guest service - although it allowed it previously. Why it suddenly stopped working, I have no idea. The second part to this is that when attempting to draw an IP address from te neighbouring WLC, it placed the client in to quarantine. Again, not sure why it is doing that.
In any case, it looks to be a problem with the internal DHCP service. I will create a second interface to mark as the DHCP server on the WLC. If this continues to be a problem, I will use an external source.

  • Guest access web authentication issue

    Hello experts-
we have a problem concerning secure guest access. One controller 4402 is installed in DMZ and is working as guest anchor WLC. The guest user terminates as this anchor wlc. From this controller the client will get the ip address but when the user will open the browser and insert the url like www.cisco.com, there is no redirect to the web authentication page. If we try to reach the virtual IP via Web browser the authentication page will not be seen. Proxy setting in browser are deactivated. DNS works, if no authentication is configured Internet access is working well. But if we configure "Pass Thru", the client is in status "Authentication required" again.
    Has anybody any ideas?
    Thanks a lot, Martin

First of all, when you configure the wlan to open, do you see that device on the anchor controller or the foreign wlc? You should see the user authenticated on the anchor. If not, then your mobility between the foreign and anchor is not working. Mping and Eping between the foreign and anchor wlc. Verify that the ssid has mobility anchor configured. Also you must make sure that your ssid on the foreign and on the anchor wlc. The webauth page will need to be installed on the anchor wlc along with the 3rd party certificate if you use one.

  • Guest Access WLC Help

I have 2 WLc 4402. 1 Remote and 1 DMZ. I have read the deployment guide for guest access 20 times and still cannot get it to work. a couple answers that I don't see in the guide. 1. Do AP's need to be associated with the DMZ WLC? 2. Am I anchoring my management IP or a different Dynamic IP? I have verified with Eping and mping that the tunnels should be able to be created, how do I verify? An issue that concerns me is that I cannot ping (ICMP) my remote WLC mgmt interface from the DMZ WLC. I know I have connectivity because of eping, mping and https mgmt from the same subnet as the DMZ WLC MGMT Interface. should I be concerned about this? It could just be ICMP blocked at the FW.
I am trying no to open a support ticket as I am sure this is a simple issue. One of my problems is that my VLANs cannot be tagged because the DMZ VLAN does not reside on our core switches and hence I cannot do 802.1Q which is discussed on page 4 of the dep. guide. to get around this I configured IF/2 on my Remote WLC to an IP from my DMZ subnet? Is this ok, is it needed?
Summary Internal IF 1.1.1.1 for both WLC
    remote WLC
    MGMT = 10.160.24.30 IF/1
    AP-MGMT = 10.160.24.31
    Service = 192.168.0.10
    guest = 10.160.80.16 IF/2
    DMZ WLC
    MGMT = 10.160.80.15
    ap-mgmt = 10.160.24.33 (don't need?)
    service = 192.168.0.10
internet = public IP to be natd by FW
I am a newbie to the Cisco WIFI world, but not to IT/networking.
Any help would be greatly appreciative

    1. Do AP's need to be associated with the DMZ WLC?
    a) No
    2. Am I anchoring my management IP or a different Dynamic IP?
    a) No IP gets anchored. You Anchor the WLAN on one controller to your DMZ. On the DMZ, you anchor that wlan to itself.
    3) I have verified with Eping and mping that the tunnels should be able to be created, how do I verify?
    a) from CLI: show mobility summary
This will should you if everything is UP, or if control/data path is down. EPING/MPING should verify this as well if they are successful.
I'm not sure what you mean about port 2. Are you placing a link straight out to your DMZ? Normally everything goes out the main interface and "routes" out to your dmz.

  • 2504 with new-architecture enabled breaks MAC auth for guest access

    Hello,
We have (2) 2504 WLC running version 7.6.120. WLC1 is the local controller and WLC2 is an achor controller for guest-access. We need to incorporate a 3850 for use with the WLC2 anchor. The guest access is currently working with Mac-Auth and Mac-Auth-Fail to Web-Auth.
When converged access is enabled on the WLC1 and WLC2, the MAc-Auth no longer works. That is, the previously authenticated user is now redirected to the Web-Auth page. The local controller shows the user as authenticated but the Anchor controller shows the state as WEb-Auth-REQD.
Rolling back using "config mobility new-architecture disable" and rebooting resolves the issue.
Does anyone what changes from the old to the new that would break this mac-auth/web-auth configuration?

You should reach TAC for these sort of issues. Not many people deploying this CA setup yet & you may not get direct feedback immediately.

  • Wireless guest access with CWA and ISE using mobility anchor

My team is trying to demo wireless guest access using CWA with an ISE server.  We appear to be hitting an issue when combining this with mobility anchoring.
When we don't use a mobility anchor the authentication goes off without a hitch seemingly proving that the ISE configuration is sound.  The test laptop associates and gets redirected, auths, moves to the RUN state and access to the network is granted.
When the mobility anchor is enabled, the test laptop does get redirected, authentication is successful, but the process does not fully complete, as on the foreign controller the user is in RUN state whereas on the anchor the user is still stuck at CWA required.
Now, I've read the L2 auth occurs between the foreign controller and ISE, and the L3 auth occurs between the anchor controller and ISE, but this does not appear to borne out in packet captures of the process where both parts of the auth seems to go to and from the foreign controller and ISE.
I'm curious to know if anyone else has come across this issue, or has ideas where I should be looking in the config or debugs to find the root cause.
When setting up the controllers and ISE this guide (linked below) was used and the controllers are 2504 controllers on 7.5 series software and ISE is on the latest 1.2 patches:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11640/products_configuration_example09186a0080bead09.shtml
To me it seems to be mobility related, but the authentication flow does seem to be off compared with what the guide says.

  • WLC and ISE guest access COA

We are migrating to ISE for guest access and are having problems with the COA being delivered after a successful authentication.  ISE attempts to send it but nothing changes on the WLC.  The message in ISE is Dynamic Authorization failed and a message that ISE didn't receive a response from the NAD, verify communication.  What is odd is the original guest request comes in from the IP address of the service port on the WLC but anything doing with the COA is seen from the management.  I have both IP's defined for the device in ISE.  I am about to do a session reauthentication within ISE and the WLC applies the changes.  I have verified that RFC 3576 is enabled, but the show radius rfc3576 stats shows no values.  The WLC is running 7.6.130.  I have attempted to debug on the WLC side to see if the message is even being delivered but non the debugs i have attempted seem to offer any good information.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
I dont really know what you are trying to do with the COA , as it is used in the CWA solution and BYOD solution as well. But even before trying that , I would advise you to go step by step and solve the n/w issue first. You are able to see the request from service port which should not happen because then the incoming/outgoing traffic takes different path. You must be facing this situation as you might have some network routes matching ISE subnet/Ip address in the GUI>Controller>Network routes as there is no need of those routes. If the service port needs to be used during controller down scenario then use a laptop in the same subnet of Service port ip and connect to the service port.

  • ISE - Guest Access (without portal)

    Hi Guys,
I have a customer who current is using the cwa portal for guest access. Corporate use will be added in the future sometime next year.
    Kit involved:
    5508 - Internal (Inside Net)
    5508 - Anchor (DMZ Net)
    ISE - Inside Net
    3600 APs
Presently, guest user connects, anchored to DMZ 5508, issued IP address from server in DMZ and DNS redirect to the web portal from same server. guest logs in and internet access through ASA and then content filtering box.
They want a solution whereby they do not have to use the portal for corporate user with their own devices such as ipads. I know BYOD is a possiblity but would involve using a CA server on the inside of the network. This is not something I'm keen as it opens a channel from the guest network directly to their AD infrastructure.
I'm leaning toward PEAP authentication atm using a GoDaddy SSL cert that is already installed. This would bypass the portal system and only involve client devices being configured once.
Is there any other option that would be simple to setup as this is on a limited timescale ?
    Cheers,
    Nick

If you are referring to supplicant provisioning, the scep enrollment request is proxied from ISE and the private key and cert is transferred to the endpoint. This doesnt require your guest network having direct access to AD....just to ISE.

  • Anyone seen strange behavior with wired guest access on WLAN Controller?

Cisco Doc ID 99470 spells out how to deploy wired guest access over wireless LAN Controllers.
That said, everything has been up and working for almost a year.  Guest wireless uses anchor controller in DMZ - no issues.
Recently configured two wired ports for wired guest networking.  The desktops get the correct IP address via DHCP.  A wireless client (on the table right next to the wired clients) on the guest wireless gets an IP address as expected as well.
Open a continuous ping to the gateway 172.16.16.1 on all three machines.
The two desktops will ping for a few minutes and then stop for 30 seconds or longer.  Wireless client will keep its connection.  (you might think it would be the other way around)
I understand there is a 65,535 second inactivity timeout, but I am only sitting here for minutes, not 18 hours when this happens.
On the wired desktops, you have to bring up a browser and log back in just as you do on a wireless client ever few minutes.  After debugging the client, I found a "failed to find scb" message in the output.
The other trick here is that the wired clients are miles away from where I can actually get on the CLI of the controller.  This makes it difficult to run a debug and bring up a browser since I am not local to the machines when running debugs.
Has anyone ever see this behavior?  Has anyone see the "failed to find scb" message?
    Thanks in advance!

I found it in the document
    B.1 How Logout Works
The WebGate logs a user out when it receives a URL containing "logout." (including the "."), with the exceptions of logout.gif and logout.jpg, for example, logout.html or logout.pl. When the WebGate receives a URL with this string, the value of the ObSSOCookie is set to "logout."
The Access System sets an obSSOCookie for each user or application that accesses a resource protected by a WebGate. The obSSOCookie enables users to access resources that are protected by the Access System that have the same or a lower authentication level. Removing the ObSSOcookie causes the WebGate to log the user out and requires the user to re-authenticate the next time he or she requests a resource that is protected by the Access System.
Well, I havn't got that far in the document:)
Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Unified wireless guest access

Hi I need help in configuring unified wireless guest access. i have followed the guide
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/solutions/Enterprise/Mobility/emob41dg/ch10GuAc.html#wp999843.
But the problem is it still does not work. what i dont get is that the interface for the Guest SSID for the foreign controller is management, does this mean that i have to get an IP address first from the management segment before i can get an IP from the anchor WLC?
my setup is that i have an anchor controller which is on a different LAN from where my foreign WLC is. the anchor WLC has the DHCP scope and the local net user database. I have already join the two WLC to each other's mobility group. also i have configured the mobility anchor on the WLAN(SSID) of the foreign controller.
Another thing is that the AP im trying to use is on a different site from where my controller is. Im not sure if this is the one causing problem.
Can someone help point out my mistake.

Its rare that I have a difference in opinion from both of you guys but let me share with you an issue I had.
If you map the foreign controller to the management interface and the tunnel breaks for whatever reason the clients will get dumped on the management interface, even though the WLAN is anchored to the DMZ controller.
I know this becuase I seen this for my self when I had anchor issues.
I opened a tac case and it was suggested to use a "dummy interface" on the foreign controller. I forget who I spoke to, this is over a year now. But I then followed up witha Cisco SE on the Advance Wireless team and he commented this is what they do as well. And to add further, a large hospital system here in the Tex Med center had Cisco advance team install their controllers and they too had dummy interfaces for the foreign controllers for guest.
Just my 2 cents ... Add a dummy interface call he dummy_guest_interface and tie it to 222.222.222.222 or something like ... no need to add anything on the wired.

  • Guest access with CWA on ISE

    Hi support community
we just implemented CWA for wireless guest access using ISE. however we have an issue, the redirect URL is a name, not an IP address, and the guest dhcp scope use public DNS servers, so CWA doesn't work unless we set the company DNS servers.
so my question... is there a way to configure ISE to send the ip address instead the name for redirection in CWA?
    Many thanks in advance...

    Hi, thanks for answering...
Yes the problem is that public DNS servers obiously can't resolve ISE servers names. Additionaly the guest VLAN has an ACL blocking all the traffic destined to internal resourses with some exceptions (DHCP, DNS and ISE port for CWA).
however, guest can access to some company services, but as if they were located on internet, ie through the public ip address, so if we use internal servers, they resolve the internal ip address and connections fails. the Muhammad suggestions could be the solution for the problem....but now is something to discuss with the DNS server administrator...
    thanks

I am not able to test this.
Has anybody configured the CUWN guest access with WPA PSK layer 2 and Web authentication layer 3

    Mark

    Mark,
I have setup wireless in two other compainies related to Rail... The biggest issue will be who will support the guest users and will they take the responsibility. Their security team didn't want that and were fine with tunneling the users to either a dmz or seperate Internet connection. Will dhco release the address... Not right away. You can play around with the lease tim and see if your laptop keeps getting the same address or one higher. If the isue is with dhco being used up from association, then don't broadcast the ssid and have the receptionist hand out the ssid with username and password. My clients use a default username and passowrd but changes that every week. They seem to prefer that over changing it every day or have a username passeor for every guest user. They use wcs to print out the guest credentials. Again, the network team has the recepionist doing this, so they made sure that they are not making too much extra work for them or else they would have to be responsible for guest users.
    Hope this helps.

  • Guest Access Query

    Hi All,
Suppose we have 50 x WAN sites and we have 5 APs per  site.
If we to enable Guest Access for all sites, does  that mean we need  license of 250 for the anchor controller?
What is the best recommendation for provisioning licenses for guest anchor?
I have gone through the 7.0 config guide but apart from wired guest info not much help there.
Any help is very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Janesh

No. For guest anchoring you just need either a 4402-12 or 5508-12. Anything more is a waste. You see, the anchor doesn't manage any AP's just clients. The license are for ap count.
