45 minutes of use = shut down and battery dead

this has only just started happening today. It happened twice so far. I have had my Macbook Pro plugged in and fully charged, then I begin to use it from battery power, and it will say i have somewhere between 3 hours - 3 hours and 30 minutes. After about 45 minutes of use, the Macbook Pro then shuts down unexpectedly with no warning. And will not turn on, both times this happened, I plugged it back into the power cord and the battery said it was at 0% charged. also, the charge icon says it will take about 20 - 30 minutes to charge, but it then stays like this for about 1 hour or more.
Can someone please give me an idea of what is wrong here? What I should do?
btw, I perchased my notebook back in may through a third party store and it is on 2 years extended warrenty coverage.

It sounds like a dodgy battery from Week 7-8, what week is yours ?
About this Mac, click the Version number on the window that opens, then click Build and it will then show Serial Number
W6= Shanghai Plant, 6=2006 XX=Week of build
If it is one of these there's a silent recall going on, call Apple and they will send you a new one.

Ibook g4 shutting down and battery problems

A couple months ago, just a couple weeks after my warranty coverage ended..., my ibook started having problems. It would go to sleep randomly and shut down randomly. I tried resetting the PMU, that did nothing to fix the problem. I would have to unplug the charger and take out the battery for a few minutes in order to get my computer to start back up. This problem got worse over the next couple weeks and would shut down several times a day.
I started to realize that when i had my computer in my lap or not on a hard stable surface or i moved it, it shut down more often. So i treated my laptop as a desktop and left it on my desk and never moved it. This decreased the random shutting down to twice a week instead of several times daily.
Now a new problem has arised and i'm not sure if its related to this. In the last 24 hours my computer has not been able to charge correctly or hold a charge. Its hooked up to the power cord right now and its not turning on or charging. I was able to get it to charge a little like 3% about 3 hours ago, but now nothing.
At this point i'm over ibooks and apple but i still want to know what the problem is and if its fixable. is this something i can fix myself? any suggestions? i'm not willing to pay more than $200 to fix this stupid thing... Thanks!

Yeah I have the exact same thing happening to me right now. Last model ibook G4, it sits on my desk all day and is ok w/o movement, but at home will randomly tell me I must shut it down, more often if I move it. Its still under warranty, so i'm gonna take it in and see what they do to it....

i bought it the summer of 2006 is 2ghz with 2G ram and 100gb hd. i'm over the 300 cycles mark. my computer last about 2min on battery and then shuts down when i plug it back in the system says the battery is charged. i also do not have apple care.

What does the profiler say about your battery's health? At 300 cycles, it should be around 80%. It sounds like yours may not be.
There are a couple of battery programs which might apply to your case:

It may be iffy to get anything under the first program since you are over 300 cycles, but if you feel that your battery meets any of the situations described, you could try. You are not very far over 300 cycles.
The second program is only for certain serial numbers and only for 15 inch MBP's. But if you do have one of those, you should be able to get a free replacement.
You do not have to have Applecare for these programs--they have to do with the battery, not the computer.
You could also try resetting the SMC and see if that helps.

My iPhone 4 registered 60% battery and two minutes later completely shut down, next day it said it had zero battery and turns back on after plugging in for a few minutes... what's going on? I was using the maps application in the minutes before it shut down on me.

Maybe it's just the battery percentage display that is messed up? Have you done the recommended monthly or so drain the iPhone down to the point it shuts down and then charge to 100%, to recalibrate the readout?

Tried re charging through the computer and through the power but no response the phone is totally black... Tried connecting to I tunes and no response.. The thing is that I bought the I phone 5 on the 23 rd December 2012 from Manhattan new York and I live in Qatar and there is no service centre in qatar .. Well, I checked the iphone and the battery charged going from the bolt to the plug in the upper right hand corner very quickly. On my other cell phones, charging took a REAL long time.
Again, is this normal? I unplugged the iphone from the charger and I am going to monitor the battery power today. I find it odd that the battery would work on standby for 4 days without recharging the battery and then start doing something wacky. Any thoughts?

TS1717 The music stops unexpectedly but if I shut down and launch itumes again it will play for a short time again.I am using a single computer with Apple TV to connect to my sound system. I am running Windows 7. Any suggestions?

Why does the music stop playing after 5-15 minutes.? If I shut down and relaunch itune it will work for another 10 minutes then stop again.

It sounds like you are listening to iTunes Radio and it stops shortly after you start listening. I recommend starting by signing out of your iTunes account in Settings > iTunes & App Stores. Then close all the running apps on the device:

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue by signing back in to your account, and testing again:

IMac (Oct 2009) keeps shutting down and restarting when not being used.

At least once a day, usually when not being used, I will see a dialog box that say computer had to restart due to a problem. data in problem report does not clearly state problem - many multi-page entries
Have reinstalled OS 10.8.2 once
this morning tried to restart with safe boot and had spinning beach ball for more than 15 minutes. shut down and restarted nin recovery mode. verified and repaired permissions (all seem to be related to Canon Pronter plug-ins- had an error message yesteday asking if I wanted to repair printer software and I said yes). Printer seems to be working. Had one statement that indicated a screensaver issue-see below
a while back, iTunes album art screensaver hung up with just two album covers flipping in all rows and columns.
after a few restarts, it started working correctly again..- yesterday I set screen saver to never, but still had a crash this morning

Bold 9650 randomly shuts downs and drains battery

About a month ago my blackberry (which i've had for almost 2 years) started to shut down and the red led light will flash and the loading symbol appears and the phone will start to reboot then stop and keep repeating the process (never getting to the home screen) until the battery is completely drained. The only way i can get the process to stop is if i have a charger on hand but this happens regardless of how much battery I have. Is there any way to fix this or am i just going to have to deal with it until i can get an upgrade?

This may not apply to anyone following this thread - but as I said, my Bold has seemed to need more attention lately. It also recently came to my attention that I have been missing voicemails. I use You Mail - have been a big fan and promoted it because I have loved it. Notice the PAST TENSE...
I was traveling in the month of August; I left one message in the VM box (delayed flight info, keeping for records). The past week or so my phone freezes whenever I try to listen to my VM, and I couldn't get to the program options - the app was just not working.
Checking recent reviews and comments, I'm not alone. I went online and saw 4 (four!!) voicemails that never got to my phone, and ended up deleting the app from my phone and going back to Verizon's default VM system. I may try YouMail again because there are several features I really like, but apparently they weren't working anyway, so..... I do have a help request in to YouMail support center, we'll see if a new version will work better.
And I'll see how the phone works today after deleting the app. When a smartphone starts acting up, my first thought is an app causing a conflict somewhere.

HP 700-230qe shut down and restart by itself after it has been turn on by 10 minutes .

In every time that I first time use my desktop HP 700-230qe after I turn on by 10 minutes it will shut down an turn on by itself and there is no problem for the whole day if I continue to use it but if you manual shut it down the same problem will happen again.

1. Open Task Scheduler by going to Start button
2. Click on Control Panel and clicking System and Security,
3. Click on Administrative Tools and then double-clicking Task Scheduler.
Note: Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation,
type the password or provide confirmation.
Disable if you have any task scheduled for Shutdown / Restart and this should fix the issue

Why does my iphone 3gs shut down when battery shows 80%. a couple of months ago is shut down at 60% but has continually gotten worse. this was before 5.0. i took it to a repair man and he tried a used battery, a new battery, and the original battery. nothing helped. 5.01 didnt help either. What is my problem?

Fully discharge the battery (till it shuts down and won't turn on) and then fully recharge it (100%). This will recalibrate the battery meter. You may need to do this a few times.

It is doing that after 2 or 3 months after i bought.For example i open Fifa 11 pick team and start the match when match starts it shuts down and the apple logo appears and open again.It does in İnfinity blade,X2 Football 2010.But not in Battlefield Bad Company or X2Footbal 2009.I sent it to service 1 month ago they only changed my battery said it is caused by charging it from Pc.Now i am charging it from usb adaptor but nothing changed.Please help me.I am sick of this.

Try double-clicking the home button and closing the app(s) you are having trouble with from the multi-tasking tray (press and hold down the app until it starts to shake, and then tap the little red minus sign on the app). Then, try resetting your iPod: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430.

Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I am trying to use the trial creative cloud software on a PC windows 8.1 - I've downloaded and removed Photoshop CC 2014 two times - every time I open the file it says there is a problem and it shuts down and closes. I can open indesign and maybe other apps but photoshop no. Any ideas?

I don't think I can access the crash report? Excuse the ignorant questions I'm about to make am a relative tech novice.
Soo - as mentioned every time I open photoshop it crashes - it just says there's an error and the program will shut down and if there's a solution windows will notify me. Then nothing...
I've tried to look in photoshop files for the detailed crash report & the system event viewer but cannot find a file with those names. I've also looked in the windows files for files with those names but cannot find them either - so I don't know where to look.
Any guidance would be great.

A few days ago my G5 started to freeze up while in use. It doesn't matter if in Safari, iTunes, Pages, etc. The cursor will not respond nor does any keystroke, force quit, escape, etc. I have to hold the power button down to shut the computer down. Then, try to restart. Sometimes restart will work and the computer will work for a while and then freeze again. Other times on restart, instead of the Apple logo at start up, I get a Zero with a line thru it, have to power off and restart again. When it does restart, the "spinning gear" takes a lot longer than normal to spin up and take me to the login screen. Have been told it may be my hard drive getting ready to fail. Have looked at disk utilities, S.M.A.R.T looks fine, "verified" and have verified disk, and repaired permissions. In case it is the hard drive, I bought external hard drive and hooked it up to Time Machine. The backing up to a long time, overnight, about 10 hours because it kept freexing up and I would have to shut down and try restarting again. Finally got everything backed up.
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated!!! Could it be my hard drive is dying? Is the the normal chain of events or is it something else???

Ok, to copy the Drive from one to another, get carbon copy cloner to make an exact copy of your old HD to the New one...

Believe it or not, anything on the Desktop uses 3 times the Resources of the Mac than if stored elsewhere, I can note a slowdown from just 30 items on the Desktop on a really fast Mac, so the less the better on the Desktop.
DW will not tell you about Bad Sectors, it's just the very best at Repair Directory damage & such.

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

45 minutes of use = shut down and battery dead
