  • Netflow configuration on 4510 switch

    Hi everyone,
I have a 4510 with sup7e and I would like to deploy netflow on this switch. The network will contain the 4510 switch where there will be 4 blades installed, each blade contains a separate Zone (vlan) . These 4 zones will then trunk upto a firewall via ten gig link over sub-interfaces. There will be an ip address assigned to each vlan on the 4500 switch but there can not be routing enabled between the vlans on the switch. If anyone could describe or show if it is possible to configure netflow with this scenario, it would be very much appreciated.

You will need the IP services (or above) image with the Sup 7E on a Catalyst 4k. Assuming you have that, I believe you can use flexible Netflow and set up a separate flow exporter with each of your zones' SVI as the source.
    See this guide: link.

  • Routing issue between Cisco Nexus and Cisco 4510 R+E Chassis

We have configured Cisco Nexus 7K9 as core and Cisco 4510 R+E as access switches for Server connectivity.
We are experiencing problem in terms of ARP learning and Ping issues between Cisco Nexus and end hosts.

    Hi,
So you have N7k acting as L3 with servers connected to 4510?.
Do you see the MAC associated with failing ARP in 4510?. Is it happening with all or few servers?. Just to verify if it is connectivity issue between N7k and 4510, you can configure an SVI on 4510 and assign address from same raneg (server/core range) and perform a ping.
This will help narrow down if issue is between server to 4510 or 4510 to N7k.
    Thanks,
    Nagendra

  • CAT 4510 High CPU usage

My CAT 4510 switch is showing 99.9% CPU usage almost through out the day. After some analysis i saw that the “Cat4k Mgmt LoPri” process is having 86% CPU utilization. This process is a package that is including multiple process.
    2.       Within this package, two processes have been identified which are causing this shock which are “K5L3Unicast Adj Tabl” and “K5 L2 Hardware Addre” .
    3.       This indicates that some heavy activity is going on CEF adjacency table and RP MAC Address Table. My current IOS version is 12.2(53)SG and i want to upgarde this to 12.2(53)SG1.
C     Can any one tell me if this will solve the issue and how clean is the 12.2(53)SG1 of bugs.
This switch is currently the gateway of my network configured for GLBP with another CAT 4507 switch. This switch is normal and showing only 37% CPU usage.

Process "K5 L2 Hardware Addre" is active, when new MAC addresses are learned and subsequently adjacency table has to be rewritten as well, hence If a packet is received with an unknown source MAC address, a copy of that packet is forwarded to the CPU for MAC address learning. This is also happening, when a packet with an already known source MAC address is received on another interface. A copy is sent to the CPU and this MAC is re-learned on another interface.
There is also a bug affecting the 12.2(53)SG and the fix was implement on 12.2(53)SG1. What type of supervisor module your 4500 has? This would be useful to suggest you an IOS code.

  • Ips 4510 error adding trusted host.

    Hello.
I'm trying to get event logs from my ips 4510 into splunk.
When I add the host on which splunk is running as a "trusted host" I get the error:
Cannot add #.#.#.# as a trusted host.  errTransport-socket connect failed [4,111]
There are no firewalls enabled on the splunk host.
On the splunk side, I've installed Cisco Security Suite and Cisco IPS applications.
The splunk logs show it's able to connect to the host, but then throws the following error:
URLError: <urlopen error Tunnel connection failed: 503 Service Unavailable>.
Not sure at this point if I need to configure something else before being able to add the splunk host as a trusted host?
    Any info appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Jamoser,
Could you try to ping the IPS from client? If it works, can you check there is no device in traffic path blocking TCP 443 to IPS? Can you do a capture on IPS to see if request on TCP 443 is indeed reaching the IPS?

  • Signatur updates for Cisco IPS 4510

    Hi there.
I one question to all cisco IDS/IPS professionals. If the management port only accept inbound traffic how can I then activate my Cisco 4510 IPS appliance to get automatically signature updates from cisco.com ? That one requires outbound traffic too.
    Thanks.

You Management0/0-port only supports "to-the-box" traffic which means that you can't use that port for an inline pair or a vlan-pair. But with the IP on that port configured, you can not only connect to your sensor, the sensor can also initiate connection to the rest of the network and so you can reach your update-destionations.
Don't stop after you've improved your network! Improve the world by lending money to the working poor:

  • 4510 Switchport Access

    Hello,
I have a 4510E iand a 3750 with 4 stacked switches in a lab environment . On the 4510, I have g1/48 configured as switch mode access port and  switch access vlan 182. On the 3750, I have port Fa1/17 configured the same way. I rebooted the 4510 and then port g1/48 was disabled and port fa1/17 went into errdisable mode. The strange thing is that before I rebooted the 4510, the uplink between the two switches was working just fine.  I have recently update the IOS on the 4510 and that was before I rebooted it.
Any thoughts as to why this issue is happening?? Why do the ports go into errdisable when they are uplinked while configured as switchport access?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best, ~zK

Like Leo, my first guess would be BPDU Guard.  Do you have an internal syslog configured?  If so, did you check it for any messages about the port?

  • Power button hp 4510s probook

I have Hp 4510s probook. I tried to push the power button this morning, but it won't click and it won't switch the notebook on. I tried to use the quick email button, I can hear the mb going on, hd running, but nothing on the screen. The led of the power button was on and steady, but with a black screen. What can I do? Please help.

Hello vasheck, Fortunately, it is relatively easy to configure your touchpad to suit your preferences.
To start, open up the Control Panel from the Start menu. Then, change to "Classic View" (Vista) or change icon display to "Small icons" (Windows 7).
Double-click on "Mouse", and the Mouse Properties dialog will open up.
Click the "Device Settings" tab. Under the list of Synaptics devices installed on your system, click the "Settings..." button.
Now, the touchpad configuration window will appear.
Use this to configure your touchpad to work the way you want, there are lots of settings and videos on how to use them in this dialog, so feel free to explore.
If you want to disable pinch-to-zoom, you can do it by navigating to the "Pointer Motion -> Pinch" category or Zooming category (depending on the version of your driver).
Once you've got to the Zooming / Pinch Zoom option, simply uncheck it and click OK to disable pinch zoom.
Other settings, such as sensitivity, can be found here. Basically, every option relating to the operation of your touchpad can be found in this configuration tool. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

  • Hp 4510s probook - touchpad pinch--to-zoom disable

As the subject descibes... I'm trying to figure out how to disable the "pinch-to-zoom" on HP 4510s ProBook.
It's extremely annoying to be zooming in/out while typing in (e.g. MS Word) if I accidently touch the touchpad with my thumb(s). I'm not looking for adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad. I have done that. I'm looking for completely disabling the feature.
Any suggestions or a link to a manual would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

  • HP ProBook 4510s continuously overheating

    So, what's there to say.
Ran Windows 7 for about a year on this laptop for college, until I wanted to get back into using Arch again.. so now this laptop is continuously overheating when running Arch.
    It's a HP ProBook 4510s with Intel 5100 wifi, 320GB harddrive, 2.2GHz T6670 processor Core2Duo, 3GB DDR2, ATi Radeon Mobility 4330.
What bugs me is that it overheats because for some reason during the initialization of the kernel all my fans get turned off..
the modules I have loaded on runtime are these modules: http://home.deds.nl/~xanderbos/linux/install_mods.txt
I just wish I knew what I could do to alleviate these issues and get it to run normally, as suggested on the IRC channel I have installed the cpufreq-utils and use an ondemand cpu governer on my setup. I'm just really stuck on fixing it and I don't know what else to do.
    Greetings,
    Xander (Zandaa)

    1. acpi-cpufreq does not show in your modules list.
You should add it to the modules line in /etc/rc.conf
    MODULES=(acpi-cpufreq)
    2. Also in /etc/conf.d/cpufreq you should have this
    some configuration here
You need to set the min_freq and max_freq for your processor.  Get that information from
    cpufreq-info
    3. Add cpufreq in your /etc/rc.conf
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng dbus hal cpufreq !network netfs crond wicd kdm)
    Reboot
That should resolve any cpu heat caused by running max speed all the time.
    Neal
Hey Neal, thanks for the reply, I already actually have all that setup and done, except my processor keeps overheating because the fans just refuse to turn on when needed..
The nasty thing is, it overheats when I'm running nothing at all and am not even running the X-Server yet..

  • 10G etherchannel between 4510 and 3850 - NO Link

I'm pulling my hair out on a simple issue, and I could use some advice.   Thank you, in advance.
    I've got a core 4510 switch with 2 12-port 10GE SFP+ modules and my closet has a stack of 3 3850-48p with 2 4-port C3850-NM-2-10G  modules.
I'm using 4 SFP-10Gb-SR SFP's to create an ether-channel between these two switches.
The fiber between them is OM4 cable, and OM3 patch cables.
The distance is about 90 Meters.
I've got po8 created on the 4510 through te1/8 and te2/8.  On the 3850, i've got po8 created on te1/1/4 and te3/1/4.  My problem is that I cannot get a link light at all between these ports.  Absolutely nothing indicating when i hook it up.  I've tested all the patch cables using loop backs and they all respond.  I can even loop back through the complete length of the fiber and i get a link light then also. When i hook them up together, the log on the 4510 starts throwing Rx power low alarms with an Operating value of -29.5 dBm.
I've had Cisco's support go through and verify my port-channel configuration, and they found it to be correct.
I'm starting to wonder if there is larger forces at work here.  Am i bumping into a compatibility issue?
    Any help would be appreciated.

I've removed the interfaces from the etherchannel and tried cross looping.  On the 4510 I get no indication from the LEDs.  On the 3850 I get immediate indication on the LEDs.
One might conclude, Cisco support included, that the SFPs on the 4510 side were bad and should be replaced.   I hesitate to conclude this because, while members of the etherchannel, i get link lights when looping immediately.  Its only when setting the 4510 interfaces back to default and outside the etherchannel that i don't get a response.

  • Switching 4510 from 110 to 208 volts

We have a 4510 (WS-C4510R+E, with WSX45SUP7-E) with redundant supervisors and dual 6000W power supplies (PWR-C45-6000ACV) currently running at 110 volts. We are installing four Nema L6-20 receptacles to be able to have full PoE and redundancy across our power supplies.
Will it be possible to cut over from 110 to 208volts while the switch is running, by unplugging the old cords and plugging in the new cords, one by one?
Or, will we have to shut down the switch entirely, plug all new power cables in, and then power the switch back up?
    -John

    Hi,
The 6000 W AC-input power supply should not be used in mixed-voltage configurations. All the inputs in a chassis must be at the same voltage (110 VAC or 220 VAC). That said you will need to have both power supplies at the voltage at the same time, beacuse the two power supplies must have identical inputs and all inputs must be at the same voltage. If the input voltages are mismatched one of the power supplies will go into error-disable state.
