460 VTP, TV-Out working

When I was about to stop trying almost every suggestion, vga port changes, reference drivers from 28.32 (the only one which worked!) to 40.71, got tired and zapped the bastard!!!
Flashed my MSI Geforce4 MX 460 VTP with the reference nvidia bios found in (http://bunny.xs4all.nl/software/nvidia.html)
4.17.00.52 (MX460 200,250,270,300/550MHz)
+
nvflash 4.15 (http://www.x-bios.3dgames.ru/)
used # nvflash -o -h -fBIOS.bin (-o to override the manufacturer id error  ouch!)
Linux/XP TV-out at last!, everything ...
Hope this helps ... It worked for me! It may kill your card, remember to download only! the correct bios ...
Specs:
XP 2000+, MSI KT3 Ultra ARU BIOS v5.6, MSI Geforce4 MX 460 VTP BIOS 4.17.00.52 ...

But I have problem with playing video on TV. When I try to play DivX movie, then on monitor I can see picture of the movie but on TV I can see only window of player and in the place of picture is just black square. It happens with MediaPlayer 9, Win DVD 4.0 etc..
Do you have any suggestions how to solve this problem?
Honza,
I also had this problem with an ATI card that had tvout and dual head VGA outputs. I discovered rather quickly that I had to go into ATI's control panel and switch the roles of the monitor and tv. Windows allocates most system resources, including video support, to the primary display. DirectX, GL, etc. and so forth. I could not get DivX movies to play on both simultaneously, but I was able to get video playing on whichever one I was using by selecting either the tv or monitor to be the primary display. If I remember correctly, the G4MX460 also has this option in their control panel as well. hope that helps

  • Gf4MX440-VTP TV-Out doesnt work.

    I've just buyed a dual gf4 mx440 with 64Mb and TV-Out, TV-In.
When I installed it I began working with two monitors witout problems, but when I've tried to connect de TV-Out, it doesnt word.
I've checked a hundred times the cable connecting, and it's ok because with my old graphic card I could.
I tried to upgrade the BIOS with an unofficial version and it didn't work, I downdated to the original version of BIOS again.
The graphic card detects the TV because it enables the TV-Out option in the configuration, but when I enable it I get a strange screen of one color on TV. The TV get's of a color brown or orange or something like that and I can't see nothing.
I've selected my country format (Pal/B, Pal/G). I've also tried all other formats whitout any result.
    I'm running Windows 2000 Sp3
My motherboard is a DFI AD70-SC (With AGP 4x)
    AMD Athlon XP 1.500
    512Mb DDR RAM
I've tried all but it doesnt work.
    Thank you very much.

Dunno if this thread is still going, but I figured why not
Well, I bought the GF4-mx440 VTP (8866) back in october, but haven't actually gotten around to testing it until last night, and I ran into the same issues.
For reference, the drivers on my cd are 30.00.
It was quite frustrating, but I did a ton of research and here is what I was able to find out. THis information isn't terribly organized, but bear with me because it's hopefully useful
TV-out on nvidia cards is not as simple as some may say.  (Ie. all those who say nvidia has way better drivers than ati ).
Different detonator versions have WIDELY varying tvout support.  In Some versions it works, some it works well, some it works poorly and others it doesn't work at all. Quite shocking, but sadly this is true.
Bits of info about the MSI-mx440 vtp itself.  The tv out is based on a Seperate chip, the Phillips 7108. This chip handles the tv in and out features.  (Geforce4 chips have themselves an "on chip" solution for tvout.  But typically when manufactures use a Video In chip, you let that chip handle video out also).
Regarding the 440's bios.  There is only one version (as listed through the live update running win9x).  HOWEVER there are issues with this card and WinXP, to which the fix is to apply a bios update.  I have not tried liveupdate on winxp (I run 98se), but I think that this bios update is only available upon special request to MSI.  I'm not sure how it affects the situation(s) under win9x, but supposedly it fixes some winxp issues.  (I will be installing  XP in a dual boot config shortly, so I'l know for sure soon ).  So according to the MSI support FAQ's, there is a bios update to address issues in winXP, that you can only get through special request (assuming you have winxp).  I am not sure what the affects would be on  win9x system, but since I am giong to dual boot soon, I'll probably have to apply the new bios and find out.
Okay, so how to find out if it's a software (driver) problem, or if it's hardware (a broken card that you can return).  Here's what you do:
Unplug all monitors (vga connections) and plug in the TV out (I dont' have any s-vidoe tv's, so I just use the composite (RCA) jack) to a tv, and make sure the tv is on.  Now boot your computer.
If you get output to the tv (usually the post info from the motherboard, followed by the win98 startup screen) this means your hardware works fine.  (This is what happened to me).  Strangely, it made it all the way into windows (on the tv), but typically what happens is that once windows loads you end up with the messed up   pinkish brown screen.  (I've never been able to have it boot into windows on the tv since then, heh).
SO if you do get picture during startup (before the os loads) then it means your card is fine, and it's a driver issue.
*Note: One thing I've noticed is that your tv-output is affected by  which VGA out port you put your monitor on. For me, when booting with both connected (vga and tvout) if it's plugged into one socket, I see both monitor and tv, if it's plugged into the other socket, I don't see tv at boot.  Not a big issue, but worth noting*
Okay, so now if you did see otuput on the tv during boot (before windows), you know your hardware is working.  So you have to find a driver version that works for you.  I'm going to list my own experiences.
MY cd came with the 30.00 MSI drivers.  These gave me that icky pinkish brown flickering screen.  Tv-out didnt' work with them.  Tried the 31.00 MSI drivers, same thing.  This was odd I thought, as the two most recent MSI drivers didn't work.  So I tried the MSI 28.90 drivers, same thing with them too.
Finally I tried the MSI 27.20 drivers, and voilla, tv out worked!  I was able to extend the desktop, and clone it, was even able to tape a downloaded episode of 24 on my vcr .
Of course using year old drivers is less than ideal (especially for 3d gamming).  However, these are the ONLY MSI drivers that have tvout working.
I decided to move on to the nvidia detonator reference drivers, ideally you'd stick with the manufacture MSI, but what can you do.  Here is what I have found so far:
27.20 MSI - Works with tv out
27.20 Nvidia - Works with tv out
27.30 Nvidia - This one is interesting, tv out works in extended desktop mode.  BUT there is no tab in the options for cloning (the 'nview' tab is missing).  So you can't clone, or overlay, only the extended desktop.  So it's an "extended desktop only" driver.
27.42 Nvidia - Works with tv out (works same as 27.20s)
28.90 MSI - NO tv out
30.00 MSI - No tv out
31.00 MSI - No tv out
30.82 - Most resent 41.09 Nvidia  - Tried them all, no tv out for any of them.
I have yet to try all the 28-29 nvidia reference drivers, so dunno if tvout works with them.
So what does this all mean?  FIrst off, check if your cards hardware works (boot only with tv on and tvout connected, NO VGA).  If your hardware works, then you have to find drivers that work with tvout.  Give the ones that worked for me a shot, see if they work for you. (I typically plug in my vga and tvout at same time, so a see the POST in BOTH of them. Boot the computer with everything on, and then go to the settings and try to enable tvout).
This situation is less than ideal of course.  It looks like you have to pick your drivers based on 3d performance, or tvout. But not both!  Either use the most recent drivers for the best 3d support (but no tvout!), or 1yr old drivers for tv-out, but not the best 3d support.  I'm an avid gamer personally, so this situation sucks.
What I find odd, is that MSI's own drivers (28.90, 30.00, 31.00) have these issues.  They are privy to the peculiarities of the MSI cards, so they should be able to address it.
What the pattern (some drivers work, others don't) suggests to me is that MSI cards aren't fully compatible with the reference design.  Possibly an issue with the bios.
I will try and get a hold of the bios update for the WinXp issue, and see how that affects the situation in win98se.
      Hopefully this was helpful

  • MX440-VTP TV-Out Video-In problem

Hi, I have big problem with TV-Out function. When I installed the driver 27.50 from MSI CD, TV-Out works, but Video-In doesn't! And when I installed the latest driver 30.00 (or any other drivers other than 27.50), the Video-In works, but on TV-Out, I got a flickering brown (sometimes green) screen, and no images are showing. I tried this card on win98se and win2k sp2, I got the same problem under both os. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    got an MSI G4 MX 460...under win2000
8o same problem ... MSI should post a patch or  something..
my icons went funny and GTA 3 suddenly stopped working saying graphics card needs 12Mb ram?
okay so I  installed latest nvidia drivers.. the the Video Out stopped working after that but games were fine..
I clone the display to check it and it displays light blue!!! ????
I go back to old MSI drivers and game stop working..

  • VGA bios - Geforce 4 MX 460 VTP

    Hi
How download the VGA Bios for my Geforce 4 MX 460 VTP ???
    thanks

you have to use Live Update to search any BIOS image. However, i dont recommend you to do this because Live update is known to make die video boards. If you have any problem related to BIOS, it is better to keep dealing with those problems instead of getting a death video card. Anyway if you really want to flash the BIOS, first look for a green jumper on the card. It is the TwinBIOS function, to recover original BIOS without losing the video card. If you dont have this jumper, then i STRONGLY recommend not to flash your video card BIOS!

  • Cant get tv out working

im trying to get tv out working on my ati x300.
i connected it to my main display and noticed the framebuffer kicked in during boot. it changed the console res to 1680x1050. i cant see anything on my crappy little crt tv.
looking through the wiki it says to run xrandr but i believe i would need to be connected through svideo for that to work.
if im using vesa i can see whats going on and log in without any problems. i cant run xbmc though.
if i use the radeo driver i get nothing. and again, it looks like the res is being set too high even though i defined 800x600 in xorg.conf.
removing xorg.conf i still get nothing.
    you guys have any ideas?

Wow, I'm glad I found this topic, I was beginning to think it was just me. Just like you guys, I have tried everything, and have received the same results. I really hope we can get an answer to this soon, because I need to run Sax 'N Dottys Karaoke presenter, (via Windows Vista/BootCamp) next week!! Without a video out, Im screwed. (Unless anyone knows of a comparable MAC Karaoke presenter that will read MP3G's)

  • 460 Hawk TV out

    Hello all,
I've been looking at TV out options, to connect my PC via S-video like my old 8800GT. The Hawk has Mini HDMI to HDMI dongle, the problem with this is my TV set up. I have the following (all connected via scart switching boxes) to my scart TV
    Virgin TV (scart)
    DVD/Divx player (scart)
VCR (yes I still own one   ) (scart)
DVD RW/hard drive (250GB) recorder (scart)
    PS1/PS2 (scart)
    Wii (scart)
    Xbox 360 (scart)
I would like S-video (and a direct link from the sound card already in place), to a scart switching box and my DVD RW/hard drive recorder that doesn't have HDMI input. This way I can record direct output from the PC to the DVD RW/hard drive recorder or just watch.
I've been looking at a few options and would like some feed back or other options that I mite of missed, with out having to totally break the bank.
    1) PC VGA to TV Video AV Signal box
I was thinking of connecting via DVI - dsub (converter) to the above using a duel monitor set up. 1 to the 230C1HSB (LCD) and the other via the signal converter, thus allowing the clone effect. With out having to disconnect and reconnect cables if possible.  Has any one used one this way with out issue?
    2) 8800GT TV out
I don't ATM have my 8800GT seated due to the size of the card and having to move my hard drives and cable routing. Would it be possible to run both and chose which card will send TV out signal?  This would also benefit my options for PhysX but I don't really play a lot of PhysX games.

  • MSI G4MX460-VTP TV-Out Problem

I just bought this card coz of the video in and out features. However when I tried to set the TV-out using Clone mode from nView, the TV only shows a light green screen. I have tried different drivers including the latest 40.41 detonator but still no luck. On some drivers the TV screen is grey with some artefacts all around the screen. The second monitor output works perfectly fine when I apply Clone mode. Another thing that makes me think this a driver problem is that when I used a program called TV-Tool, the TV out works but the primary monitor flickers.
Anyone can help me? Here's the spec of my system:
    Celeron 566
    Abit BE6-II Motherboard
    256MB RAM
    SB Live
    Thanks in advance...
    Kind Regards,

    Thanks for your reply.
I got it to work after installing detonator version 28.32. The supplied driver which I think is version 28.90 didn't work. Very weird...   :(
Anyway, since it's working now, I haven't tried switching the VGA port. The monitor is currently plugged into the inner VGA port (closer to the AGP port). I have no idea which one is VGA1 and VGA2...  ?(
I just hope that nVidia will fix this issue with the upcoming detonators.

  • Walk Out Working - Now for Tablets too

    Hi all,
Our Best Buy Mobile team has been setting Smartphones up under our “Walk out Working” plan for a while now and I’m pleased to say that we recently expanded the service to include tablets. When you buy a tablet with us, our Mobile specialists would be happy to take a few extra minutes (usually about 15) to get you started off right.
While the extent of the service can vary from device to device, it generally includes set up of:
    • Personal e-mail
    • App (up to 3)
    • Software updates
    • Social networking
    • Power management
The service is complementary with your tablet purchase. Just ask your local Mobile team for details.

    Really?
Maybe the store I went to is not aware of this.  I posted this review of my tablet last week and have not heard from anyone at Best Buy.  Not only did they not offer this service to me, when I went back and asked Geek Squad for help, they kept trying to get rid of me. I mean get rid of me.  They were not busy but they had no interest in helping me, and when I insisted, the geek squad rep tried a few things and then claimed unfamiliarity with my tablet.  How is this good service?  How am I supposed to know if my tablet is working if your Geek Squad cannot tell me.
I am disappointed and upset.  I would like to keep the tablet but should return it just on the principle of not supporting companies who don't stand behind their products, service and don't care about me as a customer.  By the way, I am premier silver for the last few years.  Here is the review I posted.  If anyone there cares, you can contact me.  I see no point in remaining premier silver or shopping at Best Buy if your stores won't provide the services you advertise on your sites and forums!
This user is a Reward Zone Premier Silver Member, who has spent $2,500 on eligible purchases, and is now getting 1.25 points per dollar!
What's great about it: Not sure, Geek Squad can't tell me if it is working
What's not so great: Geek Squad and Premier Silver reps won't help me determine if it's working
Not sure if the tablet is working. I am premier silver. According to the premier silver page I get an hour of tech support. The Geek Squad at the store did not want to help me at all. They kept telling me to go to geeksquad.com. I insisted but the rep was not familiar with the product. He said some things were not opening as they should. Instead of determining if it was broke, he again referred me to the website. I called the next day and the manager said they don't know every little thing. I don't expect them to, but I do expect them to know basic navigation which is what I need help for.
The manager said I could come talk to a computer sales rep. One positive thing there, but I called Premier Silver to see if they could have someone troubleshoot with me on the phone who was familiar with Windows 8, since I already went to the store, the telephone premier silver rep sounded like she did not know what was going on either.
If you are not going to stand behind your support benefit, get rid of it.
If someone there cares, contact me within a week. If not, I am returning it. I expect your reps to tell if me something is working right if I take it into the store. Premier Silver does not seem to mean much. If Best Buy does not care if I am satisfied, why should I shop there? The customer is not always right, but Best Buy should be able to tell me if my tablet is working or not.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

  • MSI MX460-VTP tv-out problems

I just buy one MSI MX460 with VIVO, but TV in/out only works with the supplied drivers (Detonators 27.20). Installing any other version only appears one cyan screen in the TV.
The same thing with video capture, installing WDM drivers 1.19 the video in don't works, only with the supplied drivers (WDM 1.11)
    Please help me!
    My system:
    - MSI MX460-VTP 64MB DDR
    - WinXP SP1
    - AMD TBird 850
    - Soyo K7VTA-B KT133
    - Micron 512MB RAM
    - SoundBlaster Live! 5.1

do you uninstall the drivers before installing the new ones?, if not try that as drivers can be picky at times

  • Have timesheet data. Trying to get staff at risk of burn out (worked 8hrs a day during last 3 weeks)

    Hi all,
I've been trying to get a semi-complex measure out for over a day now but seem to be going round in circles. Most frustrating is I don't quite understand why one version throws an error, another throws out the wrong number and then whatever you guys come
up with will give me the correct answer!
I have a workbook uploaded here which I used for a different question, but majority of the data model is the same :
    https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=1C0322C61F94C9E9&id=1C0322C61F94C9E9%21125
What I'm trying to do is find staff members that are at risk of burn out (eg consistently working > 8hrs a day)
My main timesheet table (Time) is as such:
    StaffID (fk to staff table)
    ClientID (fk to client table)
    TaskID (fk to task table)
    TimesheetDate (fk to date table)
    EffortInHrs
my date dim is standard fare, only thing i've added is an EndOfWeekDate (eg EOWDate. sunday is the last day therefore for each date for this week the endofweekdate column = 18-jan. For last week it was 11-Jan etc) and I also have a 'last freshed date' that
shows the last time the model was refreshed
A staff member can only record time against a specific task once per day, but they can have multiple tasks across multiple clients for one day
The business rule im working with is
if they've worked more than 8hrs at least once in the last 3 weeks (dates that fall between EOWdate for 'now' minus 3 weeks and EOWdate for 'now' ), then return the sum of EffortInHrs for all clients for every day in the last 3 weeks
I've given up in getting it in one go so i'm trying to cobble together a number of calc columns and measures to get me closer.. but it all seems to stall
eg the following calc column (DailySumOfHrs)
    =
    CALCULATE (
    SUM ( [EffortInHours] ),
    FILTER (
    ALLEXCEPT ( TIME, 'Time'[TimesheetDate], TIME[StaffID] ),
    DATESBETWEEN (
    'Date'[Date],
    'time'[TimesheetDate],
    'Time'[TimesheetDate]
gives me the sum of effort in hrs for the day for each staff member. I couldn't get a measure version of this working. It would either aggregate across all days/staff or give context errors.
So when I tried to take it to the next step to find the max using the same formula
    =
    CALCULATE (
    SUM ( [EffortInHours] ),
    FILTER (
    ALLEXCEPT ( TIME, 'Time'[TimesheetDate], TIME[StaffID] ),
    DATESBETWEEN (
    'Date'[Date],
    'time'[TimesheetDate],
    'Time'[TimesheetDate]
I get errors, i'm guessing because i'm mixing my fact and date tables now and it doesn't know it can use the TimeSheetDate 'context' to filter.
To get the 'last 3 weeks' filter working I added the following to the date dim
    =if([EndOfWeek]<[RefreshDateLocal] +7 && [EndOfWeek] > [RefreshDateLocal] -14,1,0)
i then used it in an intermediate measure to get the max at the weekly grain
    WeeklyMax :=
    IF (
    MAX ( 'Date'[Last3WeeksFilter] ) = 1,
    CALCULATE (
    MAX ( TIME[DailySumOfHrs] ),
    FILTER (
    ALL ( 'Date'[date] ),
    MAX ( 'Date'[EndOfWeek] ) = MAX ( 'Date'[EndOfWeek] )
    'Date'[Last3WeeksFilter] = 1
    BLANK ()
    and finally the measure itself
    BurntOutHrs:=if([WeeklyMax]>8,SUM([EffortInHours]),blank())
I am not happy with this at all. There are so many conditions (eg filters added) that need to be satisfied for this to return a sensible result and I need to expose a number of the 'backend' filters that users would need to add to the report to get the correct
    answer.
As is, it only works for a simple Staff, date, burntouthrs report. If users attempt to create their own pivot table/chart and try to break it down by client or task it doesn't look right at all. I'd also like to be able to count how much stuff are working
long hrs but this approach wouldn't support that at all.
I could probably post dozens of my attempted dax that to me logically look like it should work but either aggregate wrong or throw context errors. Unfortunately my current approach to dax still is to try various, almost random variations until one works
    for whatever reason
I always aim to have a measure that 'just works' in all contexts where it makes logical sense. For me to get that happening here i'd probably need to spend another few hrs trying all kinds of allexcept() conditions for each filter where i want it to work
and hope none contradict each other
Thinking about it now, this isn't really a separate measure at all.. i think a better approach would be to add a calc column to the staff table that checks if that staff member has >8hrs assigned for any day (i dont think the default time->staff relationship
would allow this though). But i'm still interested on how to accomplish it using the separate 'measure' approach
I'll go spend the rest of today trying to get the flag working in the staff dim!
    Thanks!

  • In iCal, "Available Meeting Times" greys out working hours one day off, MS Exchange

I am using iCal, accessing an MS Exchange server. When setting up a meeting, "Available Meeting Times" greys out the non-working hours of potential meeting participants. However, the days are one day off. E.g. the working hours of my collegues are displayed are Tuesday-Sunday instead of Monday-Friday. The dates and times of meetings are relayed correctly. Only the display of the working hours seems to be off.
Needless to say that my collegues are using Windows Outlook, and everything works there.

I still have the same issue. Had it ever since at least 2010 and meanwhile we switched Exchange-Servers and I'm on Mavericks, but still. Looks to me as if iCal requests something like "getWorkDays" from teh Server. The Server probably replies [2,3,4,5,6]. When the week starts on Sunday, this is perfectly fine. But if the Week starts on Monday, this will give you Tue-Sat as available Days. So it might be a bug in either Exchange or iCal to treat that information correctly, but I'm not obv. not sure about that.

  • Anyone have sucess to get S-Video out working on iSight iMac (20")

I used the Apple iMac-->Video Out adapter (composite and S) but no luck using S-Video cable (new Monster cable).
    Have not tried composite yet.
As soon as I plug the adapter in the iMac's resolution resets and I have the additional display options in preferences.
If anyone has been successful to get video out going, what settings did you use for the TV Display in preferences?
    TIA

Too bad one has to plug/unplug it to turn the TV on/off. Or am I missing something?
I tried the S-Video direct to the TV and it worked. Before I was trying it to input side of DVD recorder because it runs to an auto-switched input on the TV. Seems one just can't get all the eggs into one basket
Quality was good on my 50" Sony.

  • Video Out - working for anyone ?

I have tried 3 different GS's with Apples composit video out cable and it does not work on my Sony HD TV. The same cable works fine with Ipods...
Do we need a special 3Gs cable ?
    Anyone have luck?
    TIA.

Well mine works with the standard Apple Composite cable..albeit for videos that I had converted for viewing.
Played back OK on my Pioneer HDTV
