when i put the cartrige in that came the printer, the error is use setup cartridge that came with your printer.and nothing come up but that error.

I have Uverse 5031NV and am trying to connect wireless HP 4620 printer.

I have the UVerse 5031NV router. When I follow the setup instructions to set up HP 4620 printer, it can either set up by push button, or PIN. I don't know where the WPS button is on the router, nor how to input the given PIN from the printer. Or is there another way to connect wirelessly the printer to router?

There are a few possible causes of the error. Generally speaking, you want to confirm that the network IP Address settings, Send Function Setting Tool activation, and Send-to-Email settings are all configured properly.
Please note that if in an office setting, we recommend that your IT Department/Network Administrator setup your scanning to email feature because we will not know information like your port numbers and so on.
However, whether your laser product is an office setting or setup on a personal network of your own, it is recommended to contact our technical support group to isolate the cause. At that time, it will be helpful to have initial information such as your operating system and version; if you have an on site e-mail server such as an MS Exchange server or a Domino server; or, if you are using an off-site email server such as Yahoo or Gmail.

Officejet 4620 prints from HP Printer Assistant but shows as offline for normal print jobs

I just purchased an Officejet 4620 to use wirelessly on our home network -- we have two Thinkpads running Windows 7 64-bit. I followed the installation instructions and successfully printed out test pages using both the Printer Properties page in Windows and the HP Printer Assistant (which, by the way, shows that the printer is online and ready). However, when I try to print from any other program (Word, Chrome, etc.), after a moment or two I get an error message saying the printer is offline and asking if I want to cancel the print job. Yet when I check the online status, it again shows that it is online and I can, again, successfully print a test page.
What could possibly be causing this? It makes no sense to me.

Hi oyfpro,
The Xfinity router may need some tweaking.
Login to your router using the provided instructions by Xfinity and navigate to the wireless settings.
Change the channel to 11 or something less crowded.
Change the network encryption to WPA2 as it is the most secure and most reliable.
Last but not least, update the firmware on the Xfinity router to make sure it's fully up to date with everything.

Why won't my OS 10.6.8 respond to HP Officeject 4620 print or scan.

I upgraded my MacBook to OS 10.6.8 and purchased a HP Officeject 4620 all-in-one printer/scanner. Had to return the printer because it wouldn't communicate with my MacBook. Received a replacement printer and am having the same problems with it. Is the Mac OS at fault? Any suggestions?

Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.
After doing the above, you should be able to print. Report back the results.

NEW Officejet 4620 prints blank pages!

We got a replacement for a not very old HP Officejet, a new right out of the box, Officejet 4620. It is networked with a Mac desktop and an older Macbook. I installed it yesterday using the ink cartridges it came with, got it networked with both computers, and it worked GREAT -- yesterday. Today it is only printing blank pages from the desktop! Argh! What's going on?

Why does my Officejet 4620 print pink when I try to print colored pictures?

I have seen similar questions about this but they all say that they are trying to print BLACK/GRAY but with my situation, I am trying to print colored ones but it comes out pink. Is there any way to fix this?

I would like for you to try all of the steps in this guide: Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems
If the guide does not full resolve the issue, then I would recommend calling HP to see about a replacement or your trade in options.

Any one know if you can set up a PC and an IPAD on a 4620 printer?

Is ther any way to set up a PC and an IPAD on the Officejet 4620 so they are able to print without switchig formats.
Seems undoing one to install the other is a pain.

1. First the printer needs to be installed wireless.
Follow the steps in the Getting Started Guide > Setup wireless communication
2. Then check in the iPad and try to print a document.

I understand you have an Officejet 4620 that is printing red instead of black. I'd be happy to help you resolve this, I just need to gather a bit more information!
Is this happening when printing just from the printer as well as the computer? To test this, if you're not sure, please print this Network Configuration Page as it is supposed to print out entirely in black.
If that works fine, and it only seems to be happening from your computer, would you be able to tell me which version of Windows or Mac you're working with, as well as how the printer is connected to said computer?
If it also prints in the red as opposed to black, please have a look through this Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages and hopefully these steps are of help to you.

I can't get my HP Officejet 4620 printer hooked up via wireless connection

I have tried every suggestion given to me . I went through the entire troubleshooting process . I also did the connection test , which the printer passed . So why is it passing the connection test , but not really connected ? I have turned off firewall , downloaded hp suggested software , it just doesn't make sense . I even took it back to store and traded it in for a new one. I did that because I paid for online support , and they couldn't fix the problem . Now this one is doing the same thing as the one I took back ! Does anyone have any suggestions ? I have a large assignment due at college on tuesday and I need to get started !

Make my HP OfficeJet 4620 print in black ink only, permanently.

I want my printer to always print in black only, on draft quality. I have gone to Devices and Printers > Printing Preferences > Advanced and changed Print in greyscale to "Black Ink Only". I've also made the same change by going to the page I wish to print and going CTRL+P > Properties > Advanced and making the same changes.
However, my printer automatically reverts to printing in full colour after only one document i.e. every time I print a new document the changes are undone and it reverts to full colour.
It is far too time consuming to repeatedly change the settings every time I print something, I have to print around 70 separate documents every morning! How to I make this change permanent?
I'm using Windows 8 if that helps.

Welcome to the HP forums!
I understand you tried changing the print settings to "Black Ink Only", but it's reverts back to color ink. As you stated, the print settings seem correct and it should be sticking permanently. How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB? I would recommend uninstalling the software.
Please follow this HP document on Uninstalling From Programs and Features.
Next, clean out your Temp folder on your computer:
On the keyboard, hit the Windows key and "R" key together, then type %temp%. Hit enter.
Press "Ctrl" and "A" together. This will highlight everything. Right click on your mouse and select delete
Now, install the full feature software from the HP website here. Choose your correct operating system; Either 32 bit or 64 bit. If you need help installing the software, then please follow this HP document here. Choose your correct connection type.
After the installation is complete, please let me know if the "Print in black ink" sticks this time!

Help! I am getting the error message scanner unreachable when trying to print or fax continue to get error messages. The disk included with the printer is not campatible with the 8.1operating system. I went to HP for a driver to fix this problem but Hp had an an error message on their website. Thank you

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Officejet 4620 Printer and loading the drivers for Windows 8.1. Here is a link to the HP Print and Scan Doctor. The HP Print and Scan Doctor will run a check on your system and check your printer.
Are you able to make a copy on the Printer?
Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source.

Macbook wireless print function not available on 4620

Wireless 4620 Printer worked fine until today, now cannot connect to either of my Macbook pros running OS10.9.
On MBP#1 I downloaded new drivers, reset printing environment, and added new printer, but it shows up (and can be added) only as a scanner. The printer is no longer available wirelessly to scan or print , but does both connected by USB.
On MBP#2 with OS10.9, it shows up as printer in add printer pref panel, and I can "print" to the printer wirelessly. (the job goes through the Queue and disappears from Queue window and dock icon) but the job never prints.
I tried connecting using the HP wireless wizard on MBP1. When prompted, I can select HP Setup wireless in my network panel, but the software times out as it tries to connect.
What now? A new printer?
