4630 printer jamming

I recently purchased the HP OfficeJet 4630  Print Scan Copy Fax and love it.  Problem is, it keeps jamming.  I have reloaded it, checked the paper, and even opened a new ream of paper.  Still doing it.  Any suggestions??

Hi there @born2instruct
Welcome to the HP Community,
I saw your post about your Officejet 4630 continuously jamming on you, and wanted to suggest a troubleshooting guide for you. I would mainly recommend a good cleaning of the rollers and that should help with the jams. All of the instructions are in this guide:
A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays on the HP Officejet 4630 and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4640 e-All-in-One...
Ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
If the jams continue, give us a call as the printer might need to be replaced if that does not help!

  • Office jet 6700 printer jam error when there is no printer jam

I get a continuous printer jam error when there is no jam present.  I have tried connecting and reconnecting.  Same error.

    Hi @lbrockhurst
Although you are not experiencing a true paper jam, the solutions presented in the following document might help to resolve the issue; A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays on the HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One and 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Pri...
    As you will see in the document above, paper jam messages are not only a result of physical paper jams;
The following factors can cause paper jams:
Paper loaded incorrectly in the paper tray.
    Damaged or dirty paper rollers.
Torn, wrinkled, or damp paper loaded in the paper tray.
The rear access door or two-sided printing accessory (duplexer) might not be closed or is not locked into place.
Paper was added to a stack already in the tray while the HP product was printing.
The tray contains more than one type of paper.
The paper is jammed inside the HP product where you cannot see it.
An obstruction is blocking the paper path.
Torn pieces of paper from a previous jam are stuck in the product.
    The tray is too full.
If printing on an envelope, the edges of the envelope are bent.
I have also seen communication hiccups cause such error messages. This may sound silly, but if the issue persists, after completing the steps in the document I provided, let's leave the router on and unplug the power cable (NOTE: Do not reset the router.),  then do the same with the printer, and shut down the computer. After a full minute, plug the router back in, wait for it to fully power up, then plug the printer back in and wait for the wireless light to become solid. Once both the router and printer are on, go ahead and turn the computer back on. Doing this will refresh the network connection.
    I hope this heps.

  • Can I scan a document to Microsoft WORD using the HP-4630 printer?

When scanning a document/photo/etc. using the HP 4630 printer, there's not an option to scan it to Microsoft WORD. Is that possible? If so, please tell me how. Thanks!!

Hi, From its specs, it does not have an OCR software :    http://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c03839855 You need to buy an OCR software to be able to scan to test, searchable pdf .... properly OR you can try:     http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/word-help/scan-and-edit-a-document-HA010254879.aspx     http://free-ocr-to-word.en.softonic.com/

  • HT201406 I was printing and printer jammed. iPad gives the command; an error occurred printing this document Cancel Try Again - no response to either command and the iPad will not let me shut down.

I was printing docs from my iPad and the printer jammed. iPad's screen now shows: an error occured printing this document - Cancel Try Again - the touch screen will not respond to any command. Cannot turn it off, cannot cancel and cannot try again. I've turned the printer off and restarted it.

Try a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
BTW, you posted in the iPod topuch forum.

  • Why does my printer jam?

I need 2 find out if there is a warranty on my printer

    Hi ToreyMo,
I am not sure of your printer model, what is the printer jam issue and which country you are located.
I understand all printers come with one year warranty. When you have purchased the unit, did the reseller informed you of the service support and warranty period or if there is a warranty card comes with the printer? If you want to contact the reseller to check it out? Or you can call the HP support center too.

  • Officejet 4630 printer makes high pitched whine even when not printing

I just bought an Officejet 4630 printer for home use and noticed it makes an annoying high pitched whine whenever it's not sleeping, even when not printing.  Is not very loud, and would not be noticeable in an office environment due to ambient noise, but is obvious in a quiet home environment.  Is this normal for this model or is the unit defective?  Neither of my two previous inkjet printers made this noise.

    Hello,
If your OfficeJet 4630 is within the standard warranty period, please contact HP technical support to speak to one of our agents who can troubleshoot and diagnose this issue.
We look forward to your response,

  • My new 8600 Premium e printer jams every time using eprint

My new printer (8600 Premium e) jams every time.  I have to pull the duplex unit to clear it.  There's paper behind the duplex unit every time.  I have to quit using eprint for this reason.  I've read the other messages about this but nothing has worked so for.
    Different files, same results.
    Thanks for any help rendered.

    Hello Phantom101st,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I see that your Officejet 8600 Premium printer jams when you send ePrint jobs to the printer.
I have included the A 'Paper Jam' Message Displays on the Printer troubleshooting document.  Please follow all the instructions in “Step two: Clear any jammed paper from the rear of the printer”.  I’m asking you to do this as it has some additional steps to check things in and around the duplexer.
If that doesn’t resolve the issue, please let me know.  In addition please include the following information:
How is the printer connected (USB cable, ethernet, or wireless)?
How are you sending the ePrint jobs to the printer (via the ePrint desktop software, sending an email to the printer’s ePrint email, via the HP ePrint mobile app, or the HP AiO mobile app)?
Are you able to print from your computer without the printer jamming?
Are you getting an error message?  If yes, what does the message say and where is it displayed (computer or printer)?
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Happytohelp01

  • My 4630 printer only prints the first page and then cancels

My 4630 printer only prints the first page and then cancels the rest of the document. I have to manually choose to print one page at a time. If I try to print a document, it prints the first page and then cancels printing the rest of it. It's driving me crazy. I just bought this printer and, other than that, it works fine. I tried the HOTFIX link that was attached to a previous link as well as other microsoft updates, however, am still having no luck.

  • OfficeJet 4630 printer paper jams

I was setting up my printer, and when I loaded the paper tray to print an alignment sheet the printer either couldn't get to the paper or had a paper jam.  At least 5 sheets of paper have been jammed during the failed printing.  I need to know if it is the operator or the product.

Hello , Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! I see when you were setting up the alignment and putting the paper in on your HP Officejet 4630 the paper jammed. I would like you to start here: Setting Up the Printer Hardware, take a look at unpacking the printer and make sure all protective tape and tabs have been removed from inside and out. Now I would like you to start troubleshooting here: A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays on the HP Officejet 4630 Complete ALL steps in order and let me know the outcome. I will watch for your reply.

  • HP D110 AIO printer. Prints jam when printing with wireless, but not when hooked to USB cable! HELP!

I have a HP D110. It jams the paper when I print with wireless, but not when I use USB cable. Any ideas?

From what you describe you are having issues printing from MS Office. Have you had trouble printing from other resources on your computer (e.g. from the internet or another program)? The first thing I am going to suggest is that we start by uninstalling and reinstalling the printer from the resources available online.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it (this is important). Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.

  • HP 3005x printer jam issue

Have a 3005x with the 3rd tray add on. When trying to print from tray 2 you can hear the roller spinning 3 times than it comes up saying paper jam tray 2. If you hit the continue button the job will then print the second time. I have checked the paper path and obviously nothing there since it prints the second time. I have swapped out the 2nd tray and have actually even swapped out the printer itself with another 3005x placed on top of the third tray add on. Any suggestions on what may be causing the problem.

I'm having this exact same issue.
When using regular paper, there's no problem. Our finance department has to print multiple cheques (sometimes hundreds at a time), and it will "jam" every time a paper goes through.
The odd thing is that, since we've bought the printer (which has been a long while now), they've never had problems. It only started happening in the past few weeks.
Does the printer just need maintenance/cleaning? Like I said, regular paper works fine, but when printing cheques (using the type of paper that is used in folding machines), the machine will ghost jam every sheet to 4 sheets. This only started happening recently.

  • How do you connect to HP 4630 printer WiFi

I had just installed Maverick on my Macbook and had to buy a new printer, HP 4630 Officejet.  The MAC does NOT recognize the printer by Wi-FI although it will print if I have it attached by cable.  It is listed as the printer in system preferences.

Wi-Fi -  If you have the printers IP address open Terminal applications/Utilities and at the prompt type: ping {printerIP}. You will get a reply or failure.

  • HP Office Jet 4630 Printer seems to be installed correctly but doesn't print

I have Windows Vista on my laptop and am trying to install a new HP OJ 4630 e-all-in-one wireless printer. Drivers installed completely. I can see the printer just fine on my network. I can scan from printer to laptop. But I cannot print from this laptop. A print error message will pop up saying that the software cannot see the printer. Is the printer installed?
Using the HP Print and Scan Doctor, a test page will not print, but an internal page will. There seems to be some sort of port config error. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Hi @harleywish
I wonder if the issue might be related to the print spooler rather than a port. Please try bypassing the spooler to see if you can print directly to the printer.
    1. Click on start and go to devices and printers.
    2. Right click on  the printer and click on printer properties.
    3. Choose the option "Print directly to the printer".
    4. Click apply and then ok.
If this works follow the next steps and try to print again.
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
    Type services.msc and press Enter
Locate Print Spooler and double click on it to open the Spooler properties
Make sure startup type is set to Automatic, if it is not please click on the drop down and choose Automatic
Under Service status, please Stop the server, and then wait a moment and click Start
If bypassing the spooler does not result in a successful print, let me know.
