4630 Scan Failed to complete error - OS X Yosemite

I bought the 4630 about a month  ago and have tried scanning on 3 different Macs running OSX 10.10.1.  The first scan after initial set up works.  After that, I get either "The overview scan failed to complete" if the Details window is open or "The scanner failed to complete the scan" if the Details window is hidden.  I've tried re-installing the 4630 dozens of times.  I just downloaded the last HP software for it.  Please help.

I can see you're experiencing scan issues. I'd love to help with that!
I have a few steps I'd recommend:
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the printer:  HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers.

    I am using MAC OS-X Yosemite 10.10.2. Printer works great. Scanning is sporatic. Works one minute and not the next.  Software is updated for both operting system and printer. A message appears "Overview scan failed to complete". The printer is set to scan to computer.  It was working fine this morning and now I can't get it to scan. I have unplugged  and restarted the computer and printer numerous times. What is the issue?  Using Officejet Pro 8610 All in One. There is no issue with the internet.

    Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
    I should be able to provide some suggestions that may help resolve the scanning issue!  Is the printer connected Wi-Fi?  I can see you have power cycled the printer and computer but if the printer is connected Wi-Fi its signal travels through the router.  I recommend power cycling the router too.
    You should also ensure scan to computer is still enabled on the Mac.  You can check this in the HP Utility.  To locate the HP Utility click on the Spotlight (Magnifying glass) in the top right corner of the Mac.  Type HP Utility and it should show up as one if the first options.  Within HP Utility should be an option "Manage scan to computer".  Select that and ensure it is enabled.
    If you are still getting the issue then I suggest uninstalling the HP Software. After the software is uninstalled I recommend performing a "repair disk permissions" on your Mac. A repair disk permissions is a utility built in the Mac operating system designed to locate and resolve issues or errors. After the repair disk permission is complete restart your Mac computer and re-install the software.

    Once the install is complete I recommend checking for software updates on the Mac. To check for software updates click the "apple" icon at the to left and click on "app store". In the app store you can click the "updates" icon at the top of the window. Install and Hp or printer updates. After any updates you should restart the computer.
    If you are still getting the issue then you can use Image Capture and initiate the scan from the Mac.  Image Capture is an application in the mac that allows you to scan.  To get Image Capture click on the Spotlight (Magnifying glass) in the top right corner of the Mac.  Type Image Capture and it should show up as one if the first options. Select it and in the window select your printer on the left side.  It may be located under shared.  Once your printer is selected you should get scan options on the right side.  I recommend using Image Capture because you get a lot more settings and options for scanning.

  • Overview Scan failed to complete

    Suddenly I can no longer scan and get a prompt that says 'The overview scan failed to complete'. I rarely use my scanner and have had a couple of updates that may have blocked my ability to scan as I was having no problem a few weeks ago.  No problem printing.  Suggestions?

    I understand that you are no longer able to scan from your HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer to your Mac OS X 10.9 computer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. Can I please have you follow the steps below to correct any software or driver conflicts that a computer update may have caused.  Step 1: Reset the Print System: To start, I am going to have you Reset the Print System on your Mac as it is important that we have a nice clean slate to work with for troubleshooting. Please click here for instructions on how to perform the Reset. When the website opens follow the steps under 'Resetting the printing system in OS X Lion' as the steps are the same for your Mac OS X 10.9 Operating System. This Reset will remove every printer from your Mac. However, it does not uninstall the printers. Therefore, should you use other printers on this Mac, once the Reset is complete simply ensure that the printers are connected via a USB Cable or Network connected and (+) Add them back in. Do not add your HP Officejet back in at this time. Once the reset is complete, please proceed to the next step.  Step 2: Uninstall Drivers and Software: Next, please click here for steps on how to properly uninstall your printer.     I'm into an integration project where in I'm pushing Invoice doc from a third party appln to Oracle apps (11.5.10.2) thru payables open interface. The integration is smooth till today. We pushed a record today, but the concurrent neither picks up the data but failed with 'completed error' status. When I delete the same record from the interface, the concurrent runs fine. So we are sure there is some issue with the data in my record. Since concurrent is failed without any reason, from where I can get the log to know what is the actual problem with that record? Pls help me with your inputs.

  • Officejet 8500 & Windows 7 - Printer setup fails to complete.

    Printer: HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One (A909)
    OS: Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit)
    Driver: HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One (A909) v13.0.0.0
    Driver Filename: OJP8500vA909_Full_13.exe
    Wireless Network: DHCP Static IP assigned via MAC
    Security: WPA with allowed MAC list
    Problem: Detects Printer, but won't install.
    Screen Shots: 4 screen shots shown below.
    Note: Can add and use the printer with the default Windows 7 driver using the built in Windows 7 wizard.
    Unacceptable Solutions: Using the built in Windows 7 driver and wizard or calling HP support, they were worthless on the phone.
    Requested Solution: Install the supplied HP driver using their wizard?
    Trouble Shooting Attempted: As per the Additional Information on the download page.  These steps failed.
    If you encountered "Printer setup has failed to complete" error prompt, please do the following:
    Click "Next" to proceed with the software installation
    An "add a device" icon will be displayed on the desktop
    Go to MS Windows 7\Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers folder
    Right click on the printer icon and click on "Remove device"
    Click "Yes" to confirm remove device
    Select/Highlight any of the Printer and Faxes icon, and select "Print server properties".
    Go to the drivers tab, select HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909x Series and click "Remove"
    Select "Remove driver and driver package"
    Go to the desktop and click on the "add a device" shortcut to complete the software installation
    Note: I would've put this in the Windows 7 & Printer forum, but I can't post there....
    1. Launch the 'Add a Device - Officejet Pro 8500 A909 Series' shortcut.
    2. Finds the printer just fine and then tests the network activity without a hitch.
    3. Printer is correctly detected.
    4. But wait!  We error out right after detecting the printer.  /boo / hiss

    Ok, so I emailed Tech Support about this issue and this what I was told to do:
    If you encountered "Printer setup has failed to complete" error prompt, please do the following:
    1.  Click "Next" to proceed with the software installation.
    2.  An "add a device" icon will be displayed on the desktop.
    3.  Go to MS Windows 7\Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers folder.
    4.  Right click on the printer icon and click on "Remove device".
    5.  Click "Yes" to confirm remove device.
    6.  Select/Highlight any of the Printer and Faxes icon, and select "Print server properties".
    7.  Go to the drivers tab, select HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909x Series and click "Remove"
    8.  Select "Remove driver and driver package".
    9.  Go to the desktop and click on the "add a device" shortcut to complete the software installation.
    I did try this and it worked!  Hopefully it works for you too!

    Dear all,
    i am a problem about the function which is "scan from string"
    There is a attachment which is a image of my part of program.
    The string input is a string of Haxedemical string.
    When i used this part of program to convert that into decmical number, there is a scan failed and the error code is 85
    Error 85 occurred at an unidentified location
    Possible reason(s):
    LabVIEW:  Scan failed.
    It don't understand the reason of this failed and the explain error did not explain detail. Anyone know that? Please help me to solve it.

    HAHA!Sorry!Yes, my meaning of pervous mesage was "divide", I typed wrong.
    I got your meaning and the relationship between string and no. of loop.
    Let's use a actual value with this example.
    No. of point = 1758
    String length of "db point with hexdemical" = 7042 (BOTH Result by measurement)
    In the string length, the first 10 characters are not use, therefore, i use
    "start measurement point" (0) x 4 +5 = 9 to make a offset to shift.
    by Calculation, the reminder length of string is equal to 7042-10 = 7032
    7032/4 = 1758 which show that the string can be divided by 4.

    I have an applet application that i want to deploy on the Oracle cloud.
    So i have created a jar file for the applet application and i am using this jar to call the applet on a jsp page.
    But when i am delpoying my application on the java cloud, its giving me the below error:

    I don't see applets mentioned in the supported features nor in the unsupported features so not sure if they are supported you would likely need to contact the operations team to confirm.

    Hi, I'm trying to troubleshoot windows updates which are configured through SCCM2012R2.  The WSUS server is installed on server 2012R2, version 6.3.9600.16384.   I have it running on the custom website (using ports 8530 and 8531).  For
    a few weeks, my clients were configured with a conflicting group policy (pointing to the old wsus server).  I removed that policy, and now the sccm agent is setting the local group policy to use the proper wusus server.  Clients are windows 7 enterprise.
    These clients do not have access to the internet.
    Now, updates are still failing, with the following events in the wuahandler.log
    Its a WSUS Update Source type ({8C51EBC1-265B-4889-8CC4-0B9EF237D704}), adding it.WUAHandler 4/9/2014 4:53:09 PM 4028 (0x0FBC)

    So that's strange, if it's NOT CONFIGURED (microsoft's caps), you wouldn't think it would be a problem.  So, If I generate a group policy results report, I get the following:
    Policy:Specify intranet Microsoft update service location
    Setting: Enabled
    Winning GPO: Local Group Policy
    Set the intranet update service for detecting updates: http://Myserver-12R2-WSUS.MyDomain.local:8530
    Set the intranet statistics server: http://Myserver-12R2-WSUS.MyDomain.local:8530
    Which is exactly what I think the SCCM agent is supposed to do.

    Hi, I disabled the antivirus and the firewall. Same result
    I even deleted the backup folder inside C:\Users\...\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to eliminate any corruption in the old backup files.
    Nothing changed: Session either times out or i get the same error message: itunes could not back up iphone because iphone disconnected. It always happens during step 3 out of 4 which is "transfering purchased apps from iphone to PC" and comes after step 2 which is backup.
    My iphone 5 is not jailbroken, and is a factory unlocked phone.
    Any other suggestion?

    I have updated, restarted, etc. Sometimes when scanning I do not get this message, but more often I do.
    When scanning I receive the following message:

    Hi again OGELTHORPE.
    I've already run two hardware tests. One quick one and one extended one. It was unable to pick anything up.
    It's like everything is running perfectly, but when I go to erase the HDD or partition it, it pops up with the error message. Even when I try to erase and partition using "Terminal", I received the same error message.
    It's beginning to do my head in, but will see if replacing the SATA cable will make any difference. If it doesn't, I'll hazard a guess it could be the Logic Board.
